[PP-F9] Guarding Claws of Iron (Flints)

Quest Info: http://www.sao-rpg.com/topic/6664-«the-iron-guardian»/

Tristan had decided he actually needed to get this quest out the way, since it had been out for so long and the last time he attempted it, the party bailed out on him. So, deciding to take matters in his own hands, he went to the Mysterious broker, a rather suspicious NPC figure who he was told gave the quest. He didn't know much, since last time Calrex was the one who had initiated it and got the information. True enough, there was an information broker who gave the information of a quest of a hard boss, though requested that for such information on the boss, that they get the drop from it. Tristan grumbled since he already sort of knew of the quest, but decided to go with it anyway, nodding to them in agreement and walking off.

Tristan had recently an invite message by a player named 'Flints' to take them along for some questing, so Tristan sent a reply saying to meet him at the entrance of the town, where he would wait. Tristan supposed it was his reputation and well, what better way to showcase his renowned tanking than in a fight such as this?

Flints walked to the entrance of the town that now that she though about it, had never been to before. she yawned and stretched, she had decided to quest with Tristan. she had heard about him through the talk of other players and was curious. she shook her head and scoffed at the idea of someone being worth all the rumors that had sparked her interest. She stopped walking when she realized he stood before her. she looked up at him a little shocked not knowing what to say she starred blankly up at Tristan. "h-hello." she looked away and scoffed before introducing herself. "I'm Flints" she gestured at herself before smiling up at him, still a little worried from all the rumors. It wasn't like her to seek out other players but here she was doing just that.

Tristan smiled and then thought for a moment, realising that blood splattered templar armor, his shield and his spear on his back and being his height at 6ft 3 was probably thinking you were going to walk to your eventual doom. He shrugged it off though and smiled, saying "Good day, Flints I presume? You're the first person to use Wild Dance that I know, so I have high hopes on you.". He laughed and put a hand on her shoulder, then spoke again "Don't worry, I won't make any judgements to someone lower level. Just know that I will protect you and not let them lay a single finger on you. You got that?". Tristan gave a gentle smile, waiting for her response. If she was ready to go, he would probably start immediately with going to fight the Iron Knights, since he wanted to get this quest done, and they were earning no brownie points for dawdling.

Flints looked up at Tristan, his height in comparison to her measily 5'1 stature made her feel smaller than ever. She growled at him when he said he wouldn't judge her for being low leveled. It hadn't crossed her mind yet. Who was this guy to judge her?! She let the thought dissipate when he placed his hand on her shoulder and told her that he would protect her. Flints gulped before looking back up at Tristan. "Well now, I'm ready whenever you are. Let's get this show on the road!" She smiled at him, her bright green eyes glowing with excitement.

Tristan laughed with a grin at her excitement to get going with it, finding the enthusiasm rather commendable. Tristan moved to unsheathe the spear and shield as he walked out of the town towards where the Broker had spoken of the location. He gripped tightly to his spear as he wandered, trying to find where the initial Iron Knights were. Surely large metal knights wouldn't be the most...sneaky of enemies. He just went with it though and kept looking until he really did see two metal knights wander the plains, to which Tristan grinned and activated the skill <<Howl>>, engaging the aggro of the enemies and them running towards only Tristan, since all of the Hate was on him.

"So, ready to fight? Hit em as much as you want, they won't hit back, to you at least."

Flints followed Tristan out of the town, she tried her best to keep up with his stride to which she failed miserably. she watched as he searched for these knights, how hard could it be to find something like this? she wondered if they maybe went about this the wrong way but was reassured when Tristan spotted the two knights wondering the plains. She watched as the knights charged Tristan and disregarded her presence. she gulped at how quickly they were thrown into combat, she glanced quickly over to Tristan, nodding in approval to his words. All her excitement that was previously bottled up finally released as she was able to throw herself into actual combat. she quickly rushed both iron knights that were heading for the man and unsheathed her newest weapon, Wild Dance. Her eyes glowed in excitement as she launched herself at the two, her hands moved on their on as they lashed out at the knights successfully striking both at once before pulling away. the thorns having their negative effect on her and taking a bit of her health. she gritted her teeth as she steadied herself, her lips twisted into a wicked smile as she stood ready for another attack. " I can work with this.." she turned and spoke Tristan confident in herself despite how little she actually did.

The knights went for Tristan on the offensive, but somehow they had missed him, as their aim was poor. Thus he sidestepped the attack with ease. Tristan rushed in with his own attack, twirling the spear in his hand as he ran forward. Tristan span the spear around him, attacking a wide area as the spear twirled and slashed against the enemies. The knights fell back from the force of the attack, but got back up ready for the offence.
Tristan stood slightly in front and to the side of Flints, providing her with cover while not being obtrusive, since he had resolved to protect her. Having seen what happened before, he said "Try focusing on just one enemy, or the thorns collectively will be too much for you. And if you get low, I'll crack a health potion. I have plenty spare anyway.". Tristan smiled as he spoke and glanced at her. He needed her to know that he was here to protect and support her.

Flints watched as Tristan took a go at both of the Iron Knights, it was an impressive sight and made her feel small in comparison. When he told her she should focus on just one knight rather than both she became flustered and slightly upset. But he was right. She would wear herself out and possibly get herself killed if she kept that up. He reassured her that if anything were to go south he would heal her, which was comforting in an odd way.  She shook her head trying to free herself from all the inner banter and tried to throw herself at just one of the Knights, quickly lashing out at it and missing, causing her to groan in frustration. She looked back at Tristan sheepishly and gave a weak smile as if to apologize for her arrogance.

Tristan smiled when he saw she trusted him on the matter. So long as he could trust her, then this entire operation would go very smoothly. The Knights decided to attack again (as they would being AI controlled) and charged in, this time landing blows on the shield. Tristan took bare scratches of damage from the force of the blow as he deflected the two swords with his shield, flames spitting out from his Twinfire Reflector from the attack and burning the enemy. Tristan at the same time decided to use the opportunity to also activate Hurricane while he was up close with them, successfully landing the hits on the enemy and dealing significant damage. Tristan had taken damage even if a lot of it was mitigated, however he could feel himself regenerating the damage received from his new unique, the <<Burden of the Fallen>>. All of the little damage he took was regenerated and was at full health, ready to continue on. Would also probably give confidence to Flints that they'll manage this.

Flints tensed watched the Knights attack Tristan, if it were anyone else they might have not handled it so easily. His Twinfire was certainly something. It upheld to the rumors she had heard, all the effort the Knights made was quickly proven in vain as he healed almost immediately. She took this opportunity to attack both of the Iron Knights again clawing deep into them and twisting away. knowing that Tristan had whittled down the health of the Knights the most made Flints felt like she wasn't doing much, but trying her best, the idea of not being as strong as him was frustrating. But oddly comforting knowing that if things were to go south she would be in good hands.

Flints went to the attack damaging the foes somewhat and dealing to herself damage too with Thorns. He would of given more warning about the dangers such a maneuver had, but he shrugged it off, not wanting to hassle them. Plus there was that they were down to red health, leaving them for dead. Tristan wasted no time on this, instead activating the Sword Art <<Haymaker>>, doing a large powerful horizontal swing of the spear, slicing through both knights and having them explode into pixels. And just like that the mobs were dead.
Tristan took the time to relax, when the loot screen popped up, sending the money to Flints. He had about 10k in Col anyway, so he wasn't in any dire need so it would benefit her much more. He also added to her "Let's take a moment to rest and heal. After that, the Iron Guardian will be our next target, all good?".

Flints realized her move was bold but wanted the Knights dead. She hoped Tristan didn't think too critically of her. She watched as the Knights burst into pixels before relaxing her stance and letting out the breath she felt she had been holding the whole time. She jumped a little at the screen popping up letting her know Tristan offered her the col from the fight. She grumbled but accepted his offering. "T-thank you.." She shifted a little where she stood. "Resting sounds like a good idea..and I'll be ready to go at it again!"

Flints wasn't sure what to think of Tristan but for now she trusted him a little.

Tristan smiled to her response, saying "Don't sweat it. In the next boss fight if you ever reach about 10 or below HP, I'll activate a health potion on you to keep your health topped up. Can't have you dying on me after all, that would probably go down badly in public and I'd be wracked with guilt. In fact, have one now from here.". He sent a basic Health Potion, which upon use would recover 15 HP but took a turn to use. "This should be enough, though if needed I'll be sure to use more. For now though, let's focus on our enemy. Don't be too concerned to do things like Stun though, all that would probably do is slow down our fight.". He chuckled and raised his spear as the Iron Guardian came, looking much like a bigger version of the Iron Knights. He used his move <<Howl>> to make sure that the monster was on him, as it'd be a disaster if it targeted Flints.

Flints nodded to Tristan and took the potion he gave her, before she could thank him another iron knight came for them, this one was much larger. "Iron guardian..." Flints whispered under her breath before charging it.  Before she could even get close enough to strike it dodged her wirh ease. She rounded back to Tristan's side and bare her teeth angrily at the guardian. "Dammit...things were going so well!" She hissed.

Tristan gave her a reassuring pat on the shoulder, saying "Don't worry, we all have our days of missing. I just seem to be doing well today. I've had plenty days where I've embarrassingly missed.". He would of spoken more, but the sword of the Iron Guardian came swinging at him full force, sending Tristan back a bit as he blocked the blow and inflicting a Bleed status on him. Well great. Not that it mattered much, since his high HP and defence meant that it was nigh inconsequential. Deciding to retaliate in kind, Tristan activated the skill Triple Barrage, swiftly dealing three thrusts with his spear and striking the Iron Guardian. It was times like these he envied the high damage dealing his other Azure members had, but then he could tank more than they could.

Flints looked away as Tristan patted her shoulder, she hated missing her target, but everyone did from time to time, it was still a little off putting, before she could even glacé back at Tristan she heard the Iron Guardian's sword collide into him as he blocked it. A shiver went down her body, the force of the hit was enough to make her feel it, yet Tristan being the tank he was, shrugged it off and attacked on his own, doing a bit of damage, far greater than she could muster at this point. Flints took the opportunity while the two were intertwined in battle to attack but the Guardian paid her no mind as he simply dodged her efforts, keeping all his focus on Tristan. Flints would have been in a bigger huff about it, but the Guardian could easily slay her so she didn't complain too much. She let out a soft sigh and readied herself to attack once again.

Bleed and Burn damage dealt to Tristan and Iron Guardian respectively.

Tristan went in for another attack by the Iron Guardian, charging in with his spear and using <<Maiming Blow>>, but Tristan missed his attack, the giant that was Iron Guardian dodge around the attack with Tristan was now fixed into the movement in. Luckily though it was a short move and Tristan used the short period that was his skill to also avoid a slash from the Iron Guardian, wildly missing Tristan. They both however took damage from the status effects they dealt each other, leaving him in the clear.

Flints watched as the two tangled into battle once again, they both missed and when they pulled away Flints tried her luck again and rounded the Guardian, quickly pouncing her prey and digging her claws deep into it and ripping away from it before it struck her. she was fueled by the anger of all her mistakes she was beginning to take it out on the guardian in full. She wanted Tristan to know she had potential. That she wasn't weak, having someone tank for her was a concept she didn't like, being protected was so strange. She landed back gracefully at Tristan's side and grinned. all her energy had been thrown into that one move, she was beginning to feel the strains of losing health. she was determined to kill the guardian, with each successful blow she felt that she was a little closer to becoming a more powerful player. Slowly but surely she'd prove herself yet.

Tristan smiled as she dealt the blow on the Iron Guardian, damaging them a good amount. It was damage honestly not far off from his own, which made him inwardly chuckle at just how bad his damage dealing capabilities were. He also couldn't help think that after this that they should tackle more of these hard quests together, since it was rather fun. Tristan went for his own attack again with Maiming Blow, but this time was struck by the Iron Guardian and he had to block it with his shield, a blow stronger than the one before. Again though, he only took chip damage and had more bleed, plus the Holy Blessing healed him after. He was glad he had it, since it was basically a stronger version of the Regen enhancement.

Flints watched as the Guardian attacked Tristan, nearly getting the better of him, flints didn't like that it was seeming to learn their moves, and start to improve, she tried again to use its attack on Tristan to her advantage and attack it while it's back was left vulnerable.  She began to hack and slash at it, her focus was unwavering as her adrenaline kicked in fully. she roared and kept throwing herself at it, knowing after this attack she was going to have to withdrawal a bit to keep herself safe. She wanted to make this last move count, when she parted from the guardian who now seemed to take a small amount of interest in the woman she hissed at it and slowly backed away behind Tristan. Her usual ask questions later attitude was quelled by the fact that the guardian could easily kill her. She panted and looked up at Tristan from behind him, sort of taking shelter in his shadow. "I need...a moment...is that okay?" She looked back to the guardian and barred her teeth. It was a pointless show to an AI but to her she felt it was needed.
