  1. As you would expect on a forum registration, it displays the usual jargon. "Welcome to Name Here, abide by the terms of this site No Terms Here, our forum is powered by Software Here, you agree not to post Blank on Forum Name Here."

We should change ALL that. And make it fully fleshed out, in-character, as if you were creating your character in a game, make it real immersive from the word GO!

Currently this is what the normal jargon that's shown on our registration page.

By accessing “Sword Art Online RPG” (hereinafter “we”, “us”, “our”, “Sword Art Online RPG”, “http://www.sao-rpg.com”), you agree to be legally bound by the following terms. If you do not agree to be legally bound by all of the following terms then please do not access and/or use “Sword Art Online RPG”. We may change these at any time and we’ll do our utmost in informing you, though it would be prudent to review this regularly yourself as your continued usage of “Sword Art Online RPG” after changes mean you agree to be legally bound by these terms as they are updated and/or amended.

Our forums are powered by phpBB (hereinafter “they”, “them”, “their”, “phpBB software”, “www.phpbb.com”, “phpBB Group”, “phpBB Teams”) which is a bulletin board solution released under the “General Public License” (hereinafter “GPL”) and can be downloaded from www.phpbb.com. I'm thinking of welcoming a player to the game, remind them this is an RP site, getting them familiar with the background/story and realm SAO takes place (obviously not the American British Civil War Victorian era). And remind them what their creating and what they're signing up for.

  2. HTML does not translate well on PHPBB3 forums or most forums in general since HTML is a security vulnerability among forums. They have been known to allow hackers to break the forum's regular operations and gain access to administrator privileges, user data, and allowing them to shut down a forum altogether. Hence why all forums have a level of HTML secured called "BBCodes". But the level of BBCode's is restricting what a full HTML can do.

Rather, keep in mind that these "character sheets" can only be written in BBCodes or as profile page menu options for users to fill out in the set of "forms".

  3. However you do bring up one good point, leaders. Each team will definitely need a leader, I've noticed in the hands of everyone being equal and no leader, nothing gets done. Leaders motivate, train, encourage, mentor, and assist members of their team better than leaving things up in the air. Plus they can set deadlines and requirements for their members to follow. On top of that they can decide who remains on their team, dismissed from their team, and added to the team.

  4. As I mentioned the software is already installed, I can customize it heavily to be easier to navigate however I am unskilled to do a "dressing room" option to enable players to try the sprites before they buy. And until we have a sufficient amount of options for players to choose from, we can continue to hold onto the current avatar gallery for users to pick for now and then upgrade later.

Also, I don't mind non-staff sprite submissions, however the quality must be the same as specified above and each "submission" will have to be reviewed before being added. The graphics staff will make the final decision if a user submission passes or fails.

  5. So this project was brought to you by myself, Namine, and Nevina. We been kicking around Skype for awhile now talking about how awesome Sword Art Online anime was and how the tensions and emotions it project made us feel. To the brink of creating a role-play to engage those same dynamics and to share with everyone else. Under cover of night I purchased said domain after reviewing several other options (alfheimonline.org, nervegear.net, nervergear.org, aincrad.org to name a few). SAO-RPG was quick and easy to identify, it's a role-play game about Sword Art Online, because saorp or saorpg looked weird, hence the hyphen to separate the two abbreviations. And what was great was that the .com was available as well, many people know and trust .com over any other top level domain extension. I had some webspace available and connected the domain to this space and installed PHPBB3 forum software to be used as the platform.

Now I'm not one for leadership whatsoever, some have described my as tyrannical. And as of late I haven't been able to focus or devote much time to any 1 thing lately in my life. However if need be, I could step up and act as chief administrator here. Since this project was the 3 of us's little project and idea we strongly felt needed to be made, we will share the rights and ownership over this project, but in the end someone has to make the final say in things, one of us must accept or deny the requests being made in the beta development, especially in the event of ties.

So what say you people of Sword Art Online, who will be your leader; your Kayaba Akihiko?

  6. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5

I already posted and stickies a staff wanted topic listing the needed teams. The GMs however unlike yours double up your Gm and Forum Management roles you listed. In fact you have both your teams doing the rules. Remember this is a SAO role play site, not a general anime/game/music/tv/news site so there's no need for a role play rules and general site rules being written as they'd be one and the same here.

Secondly having a forum management team would be short lived as once we all agree on the sections, their role is done and no longer needed.

And lastly my Graphics team and your appearance team are one and the same.

  7. Perhaps the NPCs the users encounter should be up to them and voiced by the users, within reason and monitored by GMs to ensure no god modding. A list of available NPCs be posted some where and what acceptable actions listed, same for beasts tamer pets, except with pets having their own stats.

  8. If this were Alfemhim Online I'd have to agree players having Navigation Pixies. But this is SAO and Yui is a bad example as she is a program to observe human emotions and condition much like the Oracle in the Matrix or The Cursed Wage in .hack, only reason she came out to Kitiro and Asuna was because together they exhibited a greater emotion she had to see for herself.

And by far, aside Cardinal, which had no "body", Yui was the only AI we saw. I'm against introducing AI's as they don't feel like they'll serve a purpose here. NPC's however do. As we saw monsters could kill NPCs and they'd respawn later. Quest giver, shop keeper, inn keeper, etc...

  9. Obviously my stock is the full body chibi sprites. We'll have to remake all bodies to fill a 150x150 area of space compared to the full bodies which I think the heads were like 25x25 pixels of space. So I guess we can start there with a bust up of a paper doll style body. We could even do shadows for nose depth and eye socks to indicate where eyes go, and allow various ears to be added or removed.

  10. In this world I kinda see a PM board useless. Moreso having a BBCode to indicate regular text and PM text right in each posts. Also, stop referring to Integral people, this site was given it's own URL for a reason, I advertised on non-Integral sites too you know and they'll be all like "whuuuuut?"

  11. Well Discriptions and art never hurt anyone :P I dont see a problem with players who have art skills to draw up there own character to use as a reference to what they look like in SAO

And who should be left in charge of this? the users or the GM's? I just don't want to see 50 million Goku's, Pikachu's, etc.. being uploaded.

  12. Since in SAO you can do solo things and whatnot, these scenarios don't have to fit on a continuous timeline. You could do a solo play to show some personal psychological character development as a sort of back-dating to explain why your chara is the way they are or something.

And here I thought you were against this yesterday players playing by themselves when I brought up multiple accounts :P

I'd figure sooner or later there'd be some sort of individual postings for private development. Much like Kitiro leveling up behind the scenes becoming a high leveled player.

  13. This is a bit off-topic, but honestly, I feel like anyone would be hard-pressed to do anything in a forum under ten seconds.

Well obviously real-time versus role-play time would not be the same. :P There'd be some sort of method to indicate when in the RP it has been 10 seconds to revive someone.

With the Muti Account approach: We can use a similar idea above but instead, you can post a Signature of your Main account in your account Signature area so that way people know who's main you are.

Not sure if we'll be keeping signatures. As it stands I've already eliminated all the social messengers from profiles such as YIM, AOL, ICQ, MSN, Jabber and homepages since all these are unrelated to the RP.

  14. Would an SAO OOC be like, messages to other characters?

What the guys are saying above, that would be part of it. But mostly things like the invisible hand that guides them as these objects and categories, news, BBS style wasn't really seen in the anime once they were trapped in the game. The context is all relative, however these sections more suit feeding us the user behind the characters/players info to help us role-play, and keep the stories organized and uninterrupted.
