  1. As I continued, the tunnel widened into a much larger chamber. I could hear water dripping from the ceiling the echoes magnifying it to an almost deafening roar. Sunetra and I crept along the right wall and starting making our way around the circular room avoiding the rocky outcroppings as we went and keeping an eye out for the gem we were sent for. As we walked, we found some more ore just lying around and quickly continued on. This has to be the place that has the gem. I feel like we are getting close. Wait…I had something from Lyle for this, didn’t I? I checked my inventory and sure enough I had the Safeguard potion he had given me. This whole time I could have felt more protected. Why didn’t I remember this sooner? Taking it out I uncorked it and swigged the bottle, letting it disappear as I finished the potion.

  2. After a few moments, which stretched out into an eternity, I started moving again. Sunetra climbed out of my lap as I did and I stood up and stretched a little. “Let’s go on, we can do this,” I said mostly to myself as we kept creeping through the cave. Very soon we came across more ore and a few smaller jewels that could be used as materials but not much else was found. Where was this massive jewel Hannah had described? How far into this stupid cave did I need to go? Next time it’s caves I need to get a lamp or learn <<Night Vision>> or something. I just can’t do this again, I hate being this blind. My anxiety level starting rising again but I quickly cut it off. No way, one breakdown per adventure is more than enough thanks. Let’s get this jewel and get out of here.

  3. Sunetra nuzzled me again and for the moment I just sat on the floor instead of continuing on not seeing any more ore around for the moment I needed a second to rest. As I sat cross legged and leaned back against the wall closing my eyes, Sunetra climbed into my lap dimming her fire so she wouldn’t burn me. It was still wonderful feeling that warmth and heat in the dark place I was in. Suddenly, I felt that warmth spread up and outwards and I opened my eyes looking to see what it was. There was a faint glow that shimmered a few inches out from us and I realized that they had raised their shield they used to protect us in battle. Not understanding what was wrong but wanting to protect me they had done the best they knew how. I leaned over and hugged Sunetra to me enjoying their warmth and feeling completely safe in that moment.

  4. As I crept further into the cave, with Sunetra’s light being swallowed by the impending darkness, every few steps I still stopped and waited listening for movement. Even moving slowly and quietly, it echoed slightly tricking my ear into thinking something else was possibly moving. If something out there is moving, it must be timing itself to move as we move. No, don’t think about that. You’ll hype yourself up for no reason. Just be ready if something does happen. Plus, you know Sunetra has your back. There’s nothing to worry about. Suddenly on the wall the light shined on some more ore. I walked over to it and searched the ground finding some good ore just laying around. As I kneeled down to add it to my inventory, Sunetra nuzzled my leg again, sensing my distress. “It’s all right. I’m doing fine…I just don’t like the dark very much.”

  5. As we continued, the sounds of my movement seemed to reverberate in the darkness. Just beyond the faint light, it seemed thick and heavy like a blanket covering whatever terrifying things waited for us in the deep reaches of this cave. I kept an eye out for the gem and anything else useful for crafting but my mind raced wondering what else was out there. Hannah mentioned bats but there could be anything in this cave right? Goblins, trolls, ogres... Dragons. My mind continued to race through all the possibilities from all the other games I have played. None of them are good. Especially when it's this dark and creepy. I can just see things rushing from out of the darkness to kill me. My heart began racing and I stopped to close my eyes and center myself a moment before continuing on. I kept repeating it’s okay over and over in my head until I stopped panicking.

  6. After getting Kirbs message, I got my gear together and went out to meet her. Seeing her talking to someone new, I waved to get her attention. As I walked up, I heard the man say something about the quest around here. Ah, that must be what Kirbs wanted. To do the Medicine quest in the area. That’s okay I haven’t done it yet. He went on asking about Scarfy and introduced his own familiar, and I remembered that I didn’t have Sunetra when I hunted with Kirbs. It seems like that hunting trip was ages ago, but I guess it’s only been about a week. I guess a lot happened. I walked up to the little group and said “Hey Kirbs, nice to see you again, and it’s good that you brought a friend to help out in case I’m as terrible as I was last time.” I chuckled at my own joke and smiled broadly at both of them.

    @Kirbs @Ptolemy

  7. As I crept forward into the shadows, I kept an ear out for any other movement in the cave. Hearing nothing but the slight echoes of my own footfalls I squinted my eyes against the faint light from Sunetra. I saw the light glint off of something and I realized it was more pieces of ore. Kneeling down to quickly add them to my inventory I also unlimbered my axe to get it ready for combat. The darkness has me feeling a little anxious. I certainly want to be ready for anything that might attack. The sudden vision of something swooping out of the darkness gripped me in fear and I stopped to steady myself. Yep, definitely not liking the darkness. I opened my eyes to the light glow coming from Sunetra and smiled. At least they’ll protect me. I’ll always have their help. Continuing on into the darkness I thought about that one small point of light.

  8. I shushed them, “Sunetra! We don’t want everything in the cave to know we are coming.” We crept forward slowly their light allowing me to avoid knocking into anything but not much else. I kept my eyes out for more ore and Sunetra would occasionally play with a rock here or there to see if there was more ore. Hannah had said the gem we were looking for was deeper in the cave so I wasn’t worried about that yet. Unfortunately, so far, I hadn’t found anything else useful. Tripping slightly over one of the rocks I stopped for a moment and knelt. Sunetra stopped as well to nuzzle my hand and we looked around. “I really don’t like this darkness but it’s just a silly gem right? Let’s get it and get out of here fast.” They just nuzzled my hand again and walked a few steps forward. “Yes, yes I’m coming.”

  9. Almost immediately, I stumbled across a rich vein of ore inside the cave and picked up quite a few great pieces. I began to search around some more for some good materials but couldn’t seem to find anything else. I let Sunetra down out of my hood and they even melted through some of the rocks to see if there was more shiny ore inside but still found nothing. I looked at the tunnel leading deeply into the cave and it was pitch black. The light from Sunetra’s fire barely lit the darkness and probably wouldn’t do much of anything if it came to fighting. Wonderful, I love the dark, said no adventurer ever. I’ll be fine with my armor and Sunetra’s protection but it’s still not going to be fun traveling through the darkness. I motioned to Sunetra for us to go deeper into the caves and they meowed, the sound echoing off the rocks.

  10. She took the ring from the box and continued, “Lyle made this for an order I have but I need a gem from a cave outside the Town and well,” she motioned down to her regular clothes and lack of weapons, “I’m not the intrepid adventurer you are. If you could head to this cave there should be a wondrous gem set in the wall. It’s hard to see there in the darkness but I’m sure you can find it. Although do watch out for the bats.” I just nodded as she finished the explanation of where to go and headed outside the town and hurriedly towards the cave. I wasn’t afraid any more, and I could take anything this cave had to throw at me. As I reached the mouth of the cave, I began to look around for materials. I might as well find things for me to use while I’m getting this gem for Hannah.

  11. Having briefly met Hannah last night as she was leaving the garden to deliver Lyle’s package, I found my way back there the next morning. I sleepily meandered through the streets of the Town of Beginnings getting some breakfast and then finally found myself at the gate to her garden again. As I walked through it, the birds sang from the trees and I felt the warmth of Sunetra’s head on my shoulder. By the time I found Hannah near the center of the Garden I had a big peaceful smile on my face. “Good morning, Hannah. You told me last night that you might have a quest for me if I came back early this morning. What is it that you need?” The NPC girl smiled and said “It’s not as simple as you might think.” She opened the box from Lyle and showed me the ring inside of it.

  12. After accepting the invite and getting Neo’s message about meeting her on Floor 5 I stood there dumbfounded for a moment by this whirlwind of activity, still awkwardly holding the plate of crackers. Well when Miss Neo decides something she certainly doesn’t wait. I wonder what she’s going to have us doing on the fifth floor. I know any quest I can handle myself she’s way too strong for. Maybe she just wants to observe. She said the guild didn’t have any requirements or anything. Wait, what are you doing?! GO MEET HER ALREADY AND SEE! I suddenly jumped into action, checking my axe and armor to be sure they were ready, and preparing my  potions in case I needed them. I then went over to the fire and coaxed Sunetra out of it and back into my hood quickly headed out of the café and towards the teleporter to go meet up with Neo on the fifth floor.

    @Neopolitan

  13. Watching as Neo finished off the goblin, I grinned and snapped back to what I was doing. Sunetra had been pawing at a collection of rocks for a while and sniffing them so I moved over to them to investigate. Kneeling down I used Sunetra’s light to examine them more closely. A couple of them, with paw marks in them, seemed to have ore under the surface layer of rock. “Good job, my friend,” I said as I grabbed the two pieces and stood back up. “Let’s go look for some more.” I looked back to where Neo was looking for another fight. If I lost her on this floor, I would be in big trouble. Definitely need to stay within eyesight. I tried to keep an eye on where Neo was just to keep her within sight but still stay far enough away to not get involved in the fracas.

  15. "I...certainly I can," I said looking over the order form, "I will be a while because this is beyond my skill for now but as soon as I have it done I'll send you a message." After the kind of strange protector of candy left my shop I began to work in earnest for the day trying to craft some new armor. It is about time I tried to make something new for myself instead of just things for the shop. Plus if I make something I don’t want to use, I can always sell it anyway! I thought to myself

  16. Watching Neo start her fight from a little ways off, I began to look around for good materials. I should be able to find a lot of great ore and jewels in this cavern for all kinds of awesome things. I scanned the ground looking around but it was honestly pretty dimly lit. Letting Sunetra down out of my hood, I told them “Light the way a little so I can see if there is any good stuff on the ground or in the walls.” They brightened their fire a little so I could see better, and also started helping me search by pawing at the walls and sniffing and pawing at the rocks randomly. So far, there was just nothing worthwhile to be found. I glanced back at Neo to see how her fight was going and watched in awe as a black aura sprang from her blade and seemed to make the goblin she was fighting shrivel some. "Wow that is so cool."

  17. Seeing Neo chuckle at Sunetra in the fire, I said “Yeah they do that all the time in the forge in my shop. It makes sense, but it is still pretty funny.” After that she sent me a guild invite, and as I hit accept I felt a wave of relief hit me. I didn’t realize it would feel so good not to have to be alone in this world any more. I mean, I’ll carry my weight in the group, but I don’t have to carry all the weight anymore. “All right, so uh…what now?” I said kind of sheepishly feeling a little out of my depth. “Do you want to see what I can do so far? I know I didn’t have much skill when I was fighting that fish, but I’ve gotten a little bit better. Well I’ve gotten a lot better at gathering and a little better at fighting.”

  19. Just ask. I guess it is just that simple. Other guilds wanted me to prove myself or something though. I thought about it a moment and then nodded to myself as I came to the decision. “If it’s really just that easy, then may I join your guild? It sounds wonderful to have a group of people I can trust at my back instead of spending all of my time alone.” I smiled at Neo, looking rather excited. I looked at the fireplace and Sunetra had curled up INSIDE the fire. Chuckling, I said “Well I was going to ask Sunetra but it looks like they really love your café. So that’s definitely what I want. Just tell me where to sign.” Okay it was probably just accepting the invite, but joining a guild felt more like a contract I was agreeing to. This should be interesting. I don’t even know who else is in the guild.

    @Neopolitan

  20. Once I accepted Neo's invite I fell in step beside her as she guided me towards the cavern. She offered me a piece of toast and I gladly accepted. "Oh! Thank you very much for the toast again." I munched on it as we continued toward the cavern. “So this time if I see you start fighting I’m definitely going to stay out of it. I’ll just stick to gathering. The stuff you are capable of fighting is much too high level for me.” That is rather obvious, but at least she’ll know I’m staying out of her way completely this time. I wouldn’t want her getting hurt trying to protect me from being stupid. We arrived at the cavern in hardly any time at all. I started moving a little ways away to get some distance if Neo was going to be fighting again and began my search for materials.

    -1 Golden Toast: +1 LD for thread

  21. At my workshop, I saw that I had plenty of materials for the moment but I knew more people might be making more difficult orders soon and it was hard for me to make perfect items still. Maybe I should go back to the <<Garden>> that got me a ton of materials last time. I think the girl I hunted with, Kirbs, said something about inviting her gathering or hunting again, and I know Miss Neo said any time I went to get materials I should invite her because she could always use them. So I sent off two messages for the ladies to meet me at the edge of the Town so we could head out to that beautiful peaceful garden again. I was actually very excited since my last experience had been so relaxed and blissful. Maybe I could find more peace there and think over more of my plans while we searched.

  22. As I appeared in Tomoika, I was amazed at the way the houses were built into the stalagtites. I had made my way here to meet Miss Neo for a gathering quest. I sent off a quick message to her saying I was ready to start the Nature’s Treasure quest on Floor 21 whenever she was before traveling to the edge of the town to wait. This was a real adventure, risking myself far beyond the safety of the floors I had found so far. But Miss Neo had said there was a <<Cavern>> up here similar to the <<Garden>> I found on the first floor that was just filled to the brim with materials. My skills as a crafter were growing quickly and I would need higher levels materials soon so this was a great chance for me. As I reached the edge of town I doubled checked my gear and made sure Sunetra and I were ready for the challenges we’d face today.

  24. Today, since fulfilling that other order I buckled down to go back to my weapon crafting for the store. I quickly cranked out three decent quality battle axes and shelved them. Well I made stuff about the same quality as my axe I use so that’s not too bad. Although I was hoping for something better than my current weapon. Shrugging, I finished for the day and put away my tools before going into the store and putting the new items up for sale. Hopefully soon someone will come buy some of my in house wares, but maybe that’s just a pipe dream until I can make better stuff more reliably.
