  1. The girl glanced down, hearing some of the mutterings of the other people around them. Oh great, another idiot who gave himself some name associated with the damned, perhaps he was an associate of Kazuya. “Y-Yes?” She asked, watching the ochre haired male silently, calmly sit in front of her. His crimson gaze focused on her form as he practiced precise actions; slowly he took out a hunk of meat, Mari wasn’t sure what it was but her nostrils flared. It smelt decent at least.

Mari tilted her head, as the male spoke in a sing song voice – commenting on her pout, asking what or who she was hiding. It seemed that every player she came across assumed she had something to hide; of course, she did. It was right to be suspicious. It was smart to be suspicious of everyone.

The girl simply blinked in confusion. “I’m sorry…w-what? I’m not really hiding that much.”

  2. Mari frowned, she was leaning on a random building in the starter town - her recent quest to get some decent food, something other than plain old bread had not been very fruitful. She was still in a slightly foul mood from her run in with the obstinate blonde known as Kazuya. But Mari had decided to show her 'innocent' front, perhaps a passer by would catch sight of her, and feel some sort of sympathy for the woman.

Her exterior was sweet, and timid; too bad her interior was rotten and rude.

Mari stood, back against the cool brick of a building, one arm wrapped protectively around her waist, the other pulled on strands of her hair, twirling them around her fingers. Mari made sure to pout, every so slightly as she watched players pass by.

  3. Well…

Tristan managed to kill the filthy beast with a single blow. Mari rolled her eyes with a soft sigh. What a bother, at least they could be on their way. She put the dagger away and started to meticulously brush down her clothes in an attempt to dishevel the dirt and dust that had settled on her pastel form. Mari muttered under her breath as she concentrated on the task at hand, not noticing that Tristan had turned to face her. She glanced up when she heard him speak; asking if she was ok.

The small-framed girl glanced up at him, his emerald eyes focused on her movement, his thin brows furrowed in concern. Genuine concern. Mari gave him a small smile, as she straightened out the skirt she wore. “Yes- I’m ok…” She began, “I was hit…and…” She paused biting her lower lip as her gaze fell downward. “It did hurt…it was a shock, I guess. I mean…I know we’re trapped here, but I didn’t think about how realistic it all would be.” She looked  back up to him. “It was a little scary! B-but I think I did well?”

She spoke in half truths, she was shocked that the pain had been so realistic, but she wasn’t scared, the fight earlier had excited her – it was so interesting seeing what this world had to offer.

“You were really brave, thank you!” Mari added with a delighted tone. Of course, what she said rarely was what she thought, she didn’t think he was brave, she thought he was foolish, brash. Frustrating, but right now, she couldn’t say such things. The man seemed to be naïve, and kind, she was going to use that to her advantage.

  4. I think writing a book together is incredibly hard;

Everyone has their own flair, their own style and typing mannerisms and idioms - to have a group of people writing something would cause all those to mesh and it would create a broken reading experience. Unless you had many people contribute ideas, one person do the actual writing, with the others putting in ideas, dialoge etc. etc.

It's been done before, absolutely beautifully - by Paul Jennings and Morris Gleitzman when they wrote 'Wicked' (not the play about Oz, the book about weird happenings and a group of kids)

    But yes, totally doable!

    Hahahah.....

    anyway I think the first thing you'd want to discuss is what narrative it would take, first or third;
then the setting; characters - their bio/ etc etc.

I use a program called Snowflake Pro and it is AMAZING
    It keeps track of everything!

I also use it for my RP characters! :D

  5. Mari leaned back, till she was laying in the grass, she crossed her arms behind her head as the other, clearly angry person approached. She raised an eyebrow as the agitated youth called her a idiot, then had the gall to call himself a demon. Mari tried to stifle some laughter, really? Demon? How horribly cliché’d could he get? The laughter won as he continued, saying he could kill her if he felt like it.

Mari burst into a fit of laughter – kicking her dainty little legs, holding her sides. It was funny, it was just too funny – “What horrible second rate tv show did those lines come from?” She asked between fits of laughter. “You’re a walking cliché- do you hear yourself?” Her laughter had died down, and Mari stood, lightly dusting herself off.

    “Really, threats – over a tiny, little pebble.” Her tone turned poisonous, she tilted her head and spun a cotton coloured tendril of hair around a single finger. “You talk so easily of death, of killing someone, over such a trivial matter- know what that shows?” Mari asked, glancing up at the blonde man, he was so angry he was almost visibly shaking. Mari continued;

“Your poor little ego has been hurt – you think-“

She cleared her throat, imitating his voice, “Oh how dare this foolish child undermine me! ME! Of ALL people!”

She switched back to her cold tone:  “You sound like an entitled little brat. Quit whining over such a tiny matter. If  your so called ‘honour’ is so easily wounded I’d hate to see what kind of company you keep.”

  6. “Aww, Diddums~”  Mari hummed, cruel blue eyes watching the younger boys demeanour change, it was almost as though he was throwing some form of tantrum. Mari observed with a bemused grin as he bent down and picked up the very rock that was thrown at him back at her. The pebble bounced past her pastel coloured head, landing a few inches away behind her. The woman gave a malicious cackle, arms wrapping around her tiny waist as she laughed.

Mari turned to the Frenzy Plant; talking to it in a mocking tone. “Ooooohh did you see that? Think I hit a nerve there?” She asked, giddy. Seeing the other player so put out had lightened her spirits.  â€œNaw, think the boy is gonna come over and lecture me? What a riot!” Mari gave another catty laugh. It would have been best if he had kept on walking, and avoided her spiteful actions.

  7. Mari continued to throw rocks at the plant, giving a smirk as she watched it flail wildly, as time slowly passed – she noticed that the creature’s attempts to attack her grew more fevered, desperate almost. Perhaps the mobs in this game were more intelligent, more advanced than the women gave them credit for. “Heh, pathetic lil’ thing.”  The Frenzy Plant was clearly distressed, and it was all the more reason to continue with her useless, annoying action toward the beast.

Mari paused, oceanic orbs following a lone, blonde player who was casually strolling back into town. No, it wasn’t casual – he seemed prideful, almost full of himself. He glanced her way before averting his gaze- turning his entire head away from her. Mari could have sworn that he even quickened his pace. Rude.

Not that she cared; she wasn’t in the mood to deal with people today, Mari threw another pebble at the plant,  then another – the third – she on purposefully overshot, aiming for the other player who had passed by. Mari didn’t bother checking to see if it had hit its target, she doubted it. The boy was too far away.

“Shuffle along, little boy.” Mari muttered under her breath.

  8. Mari felt frustrated, watching Tristan take down the boar she was fighting; that was the second time he had taken her enemy – landing the final blow. Mari wasn’t sure if those who landed the final blow got any sort of bonus experience or special loot drops. Perhaps that was why he teamed up with her, and chose to play the part of the ‘hero’

That’s it, she had it. She wasn’t going to bother attempting to attack the second boar- it still had full HP, and if she did Tristan would just get the final kill again. Mari contemplated crossing her arms and sitting down in a huff – however right now she was playing the part of a meek, timid girl. Mari stepped behind Tristan, this time using him as the shield he so foolishly made himself out to be. Let him get hit, let him make the first strike; if Mari was lucky she may be able to get the final blow – worst case scenario – Tristan would kill it in one hit, and they’d simply be on their way.

The quicker she could obtain her profession, the quicker she could shake the male and be on her own, quiet, merry way.

  9. BOAR

    AJDK15o.png?1

There was one left, one unimpressed lone, beady eyed boar. It wildly shook its head, stomping the ground with its hooves as it wandered back and forth in front of Tristan and Mari. A engorged grey tongue lolled out of the side of its mouth. Messily flicking up into its flared nostrils before darting back.

Rolled a 7 on the d10 (mob) dice: SUCCESS!

Finally deciding on a target; the boar screeched, charging toward Tristan with its mouth open wide, gobs of saliva dripping from its gaping maw.

  10. Normally, Mari – the deceptively short, high pitched pink woman would put on a mask, a pleasant façade to lull any and all around her into a false sense of security.  She wasn’t a wrathful person, she didn’t see a need to PK anyone or cause them harm without reason, but she did see the usefulness of others, if she had something to gain; she’d act accordingly. Play the part in a staged theatrical performance.

Today, was not one of those days. The lass was bored, sluggish, and was not in the mood for playing ‘nice’

Mari groaned, chewing on a piece of plain bread; there weren’t many people around so she didn’t need to put on her meek and submissive persona/charade. Her sapphire eyes dull with a sort of tired boredom that tends to set in when one had little to do. She wandered the streets of the beginner town with an aimless disdain – scowling at passing players who were forsaken enough to meet her gaze.

Unfortunately, Mari was still too low leveled to do too much exploring on her own, she was careless, and didn’t give a damn what happened to others – but she’d rather live, at least for now. She wanted to know what the upper floors were like, and to do that she needed to gain levels.

Mari glanced down at the half-eaten roll in her hand. There wasn’t a real need to eat in this game, but she liked the taste of food, it’d be nice to have something other than plain ol’ bread. “Bleh…boring.”

Carelessly tossing it over her shoulder Mari wandered to the outskirts of the starting city less people. Less noise, it’s what she figured she needed right now.

Mari found a spot near a Frenzy plant, she sat on the ground-cross legged just outside of its attack range, picking up nearby rocks and throwing them at the thorned, flailing creature. They bounced harmlessly off the plant.

  11. The girl pushed herself up off the floor, wiping her dirtied hands onto her clothes. Mari had to admit she was mildly surprised when Tristan, quick to act, made a human barricade using himself as some sort of living shield. She rose an eyebrow, skeptical of his noble actions and appearance. Tristan made short work of the boar that Mari had already managed to damage – it exploded in a shower of pixels, ceasing to exist. It’s brethren became angered at the loss of their kin. One rushed Tristan, grazing his leg with its tusk. The other trotted around, till it was behind Mari.

The girl turned on her heel, she’d rather have her back to the boar than to another human; but she figured he would be busy with the second boar- he had placed himself in the line of danger for her sake, so it seemed counter intuitive for him to attempt to attack her from behind.

The boar charged, Mari was hoping luck was on her side again, and that the stupid beast would topple over just as the first had. Sadly, that wasn’t the case, her blue eyes widened as she stared at the grunting, salivating beast – it’s sharp tusks aimed straight for her torso. Mari stepped to the side, avoiding the ivory weapons but the beasts skull still collided with her. Mari felt as though the wind was being knocked out of her, she gasped as she stepped back – clutching her chest. Mari gasped for air, lower lip quivering from the shock of being hit with such brute force. This was something she'd have to get used to, Mari almost enjoyed it. She gulped, straightening and tightening her hold on the tiny Dagger she held.

    It was painful

    It was dirty

But oh was it exciting, it was fun

She almost didn't want it to end.

Mari kicked off, charging toward the boar, dagger held close to her body to gain a precise strike.

Rolled a 7 on the d10 (battle) dice. Success

    Success!

The boar screeched, she didn't deal a lot of damage, a disappointing single HP hit; but it was something, and if anything it meant the battle would go longer.

  12. BOAR

    AJDK15o.png?1 AJDK15o.png?1

Boar 3; dust shot from the other boars wrinkled snout. It opened it's mouth in a mighty roar; spittle dripping from decaying teeth. The boar dipped its head, kicking off and running around in a semi circle till it was behind Mari, who had turned around to face her adversary. The boar scratched the ground with its dirtied hoof before dipping its head for a charge.

Rolled a 6 on the d10 (mob) dice. Success

Charging, it aimed for Mari - who attempted to doge the attack; she avoided the tusks however the hard skull of the beast hit her directly in the chest. Causing damage. The boar grunted, taking a few steps back readying itself for another charge.

    Mari 8/9 HP

  14. I like the dice system; and I am pretty sure I was utilizing it right (new here, only used it twice) when I just copy/pasted whatever the roll was into the post.
In saying that, I can see how that would be abused, I was new to it all so just did what I assumed was right.

Taking a super quick glance at the 3rd party system linked earlier by Cindel: to my assumption: it shows what was rolled to alleviate cheating? With the name search function you can search way back: or all the dice rolls the player used, which I think is a fantastic idea.
My ONLY concern would  be how logged would this get with multiple users using this system. It's fine now - but 6 months from now, there are going to be a butt tonne of rolls and a butt tonne of people.

Unless it was refreshed monthly or archived monthly?

I personally don't see the point of cheating any sort of system, completely destroys the point of a RP experience, to me a RP is adapting to situations given to you, unknown factors and all that jazz.

  15. Mari gave a small nod, ignoring his obnoxious laughter. She couldn’t really blame him, if she saw someone sincerely acting the way she was – she’d probably laugh at them too. Silently, Mari followed closely behind, perhaps next time she’d just chance it alone. Death be damned. Tristan gave an off handed comment about how she should be more honest, that he couldn’t tell a thing about her.

Mari scowled at his back, of course – that was the whole darn point of her charade. He was naive, foolish. He was the type of person whose true emotions and intentions were plastered all over his face. Tristan’s attire, his hair – the bone structure of his face – all pointed toward a more serious persona. However, Mari couldn’t judge someone on looks alone.  The scorned look on Mari’s face quickly disappeared as she noticed him turn on his foot to face her, she replaced it with a cautious smile.

Tristan called her an onion. AN ONION  What sort of small talk was that? Did he expect to win some sort of favor? Have her giggle and brush it off as a joke between friends? Oh no. No, no, no. That was not the way Mari did things. She made a mental note to somehow repay him for his remark.

Inwardly fuming Mari gave a light laugh, “I’m just n-nervous. This whole, uh – situation is so…unexpected you know? I’m not sure w-what to think, or how to act.”

The two wandered down a brick road, and Mari took this silence as a chance to look around. The two were surrounded by grassy plains, the soft cool breeze alleviating the warmth of the bright sun, Mari took a deep breath. Noting the scent of the grass, “Trapped here huh…” she mumbled to herself, it didn’t seem that bad, to be trapped in such a life-like place. She didn’t understand why so many people were panicked.

Tristan must have stopped, because the next moment, Mari found herself walking into him.

“Omfph!” She stepped away, wrinkling her nose, “Hey!” She was about to ask why he stopped, but her question was answered for her. There were three boars in front of them – blocking their path.

Little red diamonds floated above their head; meaning they were aggressive mobs. At least toward her, and her current level, one charged forward – which shocked Mari. She stepped back, attempting to equip her dagger- the menu interface wasn’t one she had gotten used to.

Mari thought she was going to get hit; she had only just managed to equip the small dagger before the boar was on her, luck was on her side. The girl flinched, shutting her eyes and covering her head – dagger in hand. Fully expecting to be head butted – but she felt nothing, instead, she heard a anguished cry from the monster.

Opening her eyes Mari saw that it had stumbled, landing in a mess in front of her. Mari laughed at the predicament, and at her own cowardly foolishness. She steadied herself in a clumsy battle pose; wanting to strike the boar down.

Rolled a 9 on the d10 (battle) dice. Critical, +1 damage

Mari's actions were clumsy, and she was clearly not suited to battle - but the boar had taken a dive which left it open and vulnerable. "YAH!" Mari cried, thrusting the dagger directly into the boars heard. The boar yelped, grunting. Mari, gripping the dagger tightly was flung to and fro, till the boar shook her off- Mari landed with a thud a few feet away from the monster. She grimaced, landing on her cossack, it hurt.

    Boar -2 HP

    It hurt

Mari blinked, rubbing her lower back with her free hand - she sat on the grass, shoes scuffed, hair askew and she was in mild discomfort. This was all real, not just the smells, nor the tickle of the spring air, but the pain, the exhaustion. Mari grinned. Oh how exciting this was.

  16. Boars

    AJDK15o.png?1AJDK15o.png?1AJDK15o.png?1

    The boars health bars  bounced above their heads;

The first, lifted it’s head and sniffed the air; turning its head toward the two it narrowed it’s beady dark eyes and with a grunt charged toward Mari.

    • Rolled a 2 on the d10 (mob) dice-combat manoeuvre fails

The Boar seemed to trip, loosing its footing just metres from Mari. The boar gave a high pitched squeal as its face hit the ground hard, its frontal charge skidding to a halt just in front of the blossom coloured girl.

  17. Hi all~

Not exactly sure where this could/should have been posted, but this seemed like my best bet so far 0^0

I just finished making these; which I was about to use in my own post; I'll be making more soon of other Mobs. I figured I may as well make them available for others to use, I understand that health bars are a lil' different to this in battle and with monsters but this was the easiest way for me to portray this:

    Bestiary:

    Boar
    Dire Wolf

    Frenzy Plant
    Frost Dragon

    Dragon

Anyway I hope someone else may get some use out of them too ~

  18. No, no - she is useless. She didn't even read the book properly. So doesn't exactly know how to do much at all.
But she's bound to attempt to use people to her advantage. At the moment Tristan is RPing with her to get her profession, so at least she will have that soon
