  1. Picking herself up off the ground and out of the green, Tyger returned to the battle quick enough to see Ariel miss her opportunity to attack. Gritting her teeth, Tyger shook her head slightly, ridding herself of the distraction as Ariel approached. She apologized, and Tyger shrugged. "No worries. The Tiger can pick up your slack." Tyger teased, nudging Ariel with her elbow playfully. Sword glowing with power, Tyger began to run forward to meet the Cyclops head on once more. "NOOOOO!" He bellowed, brandishing his club once more. His eye darted over to Valentine, who was HIS. These puny humans just didn't understand. As Tyger approached, her sword connected with the ankle of the beast, inflicting a good, impressive bit of damage as the Cyclops roared out in pain. Falling to one knee from exhaustion, it looked as though this battle was almost over. If Ariel had hit, the tank would've taken last hit. But, I'm okay giving this one to Baldur. She thought to herself before calling out to her lover. "Baldur! This is it! Finish it off!"

  2. Tyger had taken a beating the first few rounds, and she could feel it all the way down to her bones. By the time Ariel had healed her, another beating was underway. This boss was tough; tougher than anything she'd ever faced, and it was painful. Ridiculously painful. Even if it was only mental, and that if she could calm herself down and remind herself that while it's a death game, it was just a game and she wasn't truly feeling anything, that was hard to do. But, it was the only thing she could do. Nodding in Ariel's direction, she managed a chuckle as she smiled. "Thanks. Let's take these guys down." Tyger growled, watching the head that did the most damage fall limp before exploding into thousands of shards. Tyger's grin of satisfaction was larger than it should have been. Left head down, Tyger charged forward, sword drawn, to start inflicting damage. The center head was snapping at her, but she managed to stay away long enough to slice a quick arc into the hounds neck before falling back.

  3. Check out my old threads - Hunting the Upper Floors 1 and 2. We used the Hate system extensively, and we're currently using it in our Cerberus thread. Since I play a tanky character, I wanted to get familiar with it for boss fights and the like. I think it's a good representation, as we follow the rules to a T.

  4. Tyger gritted her teeth as Ariel made fun of the beast. Granted, it wasn't the smartest crayon in the toolshed, but Ariel taunting it wasn't going to make it feel any better. And, being the resident meat shield, wouldn't make Tyger feel any better. The 'suggestion' that Cyclops was doing it wrong seemed to resonate. When the hulking beast returned to it's club, it refrained from tossing it. Instead, the Cyclops let out a bellowing roar that suspended Tyger as she tried to run with it's sheer force. The more it's HP dwindled, the angrier it got. Blood was rushing past her ears, and it was making it hard to hear. At least Sir Five's lady wasn't a howler, who yelled and screamed until someone rescued her. Thank goodness.

The Cyclops took advantage of his sheer power and began running towards Tyger. The redhead zipped between his legs and sliced at an ankle, but not before being battered like a golf ball with the club. She flew sideways until a tree stopped her path. "Way to give him ideas..." She hissed under her breath, picking herself up off the ground to rejoin the fight. Cyclops was looking worse for wear, which could only mean they were making good progress.

  5. The previous attack had hurt. There was no mistaking the terror that gripped at Tyger's heart, but there was a glint of determination that seemed to shine brighter. They needed to defeat this to live, simple as that. Three headed dogs were easily defeated with the right amount of spunk, right? Besides, the lord of the Underworld had literally named his dog Spot. That must've been his weakness.

"I'm good, i'm good..." Tyger murmured, sword and shield in hand. Narrowing her eyes, she darted forward and sliced at the left head, which seemed to be a bit tuckered out at this point. However, as she lept, her leg - which was burnt and quite painful - twinged and she let out a cry of pain, completely missing her attack. Cerberus's left head took this into consideration and bit at her again. Thankfully, both of them missed. It was a trade off Tyger really didn't mind making at this point. "Oikawa... up next..." She breathed heavily, already out of breath.

  7. (I think this is good background music for this battle:

    )

Cerberus made itself known, stepping into the cave with a terrifying entrance. "I'm pretty sure Cerberus has been practicing his entrance while we've been derping around with his hellhound lackeys." Tyger said to Baldur, who was just as shocked and awed as she was. However, adding humor to the situation seemed to be the best route. Besides, it was much better than letting her knees knock together in fear, right? "One howl coming right up!" She nodded to Baldur, and stepped forward with her sword and shield. Icarus didn't seem afraid of Cerberus. That made Tyger wonder if the little familiar knew the giant mob boss? Wouldn't that be something?

"Eh, trio! Over here!" Tyger slammed the sword into her shield, causing the loud cracking sound she'd been experimenting with in the floor below. Cerberus seemed to respond to that, all heads turning towards her for the fight to start. Staring at all of the snarling faces sent a shiver down Tyger's spine. She wanted to be home snuggling Icarus. The dragon or her pet in the real world, it didn't matter. Just something other than here. But she had a job to do. The Howl gained the attention, and she just had to survive long enough to let everyone kill the dogs.

True to it's nature, the head on the left let out a long, angry howl before chomping at Tyger with sharp fangs. Tyger rolled to the side, but wasn't able to dodge well enough as the hounds teeth bit into her leg. Tyger let out a sharp cry, something she hardly did, and bit back a sputtering curse. Fire rippled from the fangs as she was held in suspension. The left head finally dropped her, and she landed with a painful thud in a cloud of steam. Holding back another cry out, Tyger's leg was burnt and crispy. Her skin was fried from the steam, and it wasn't a good day. "Kill these fuckers. Quickly." She growled. She hoped Baldur didn't look at her HP bar anytime soon. She'd lost quite a bit in that tussle, and the pain in her leg hinted she'd be feeling it later.

  8. Both Baldur and Ariel had managed to land hits, while the rest of the team scattered to avoid the brute's club. The angry eye of the cyclops, after it reached it's club, focused on Tyger and her red hair. It made her an easy target, on top of the heavy armor that made her a bit slower. The Lonely Cyclops roared, chucking it's club at Tyger with malice. The large (practically a tree on it's own) club hurtled towards her, and Tyger dodged just in time. She darted to the left and rolled, shield up just incase she'd mistaken her trajectory. Thankfully, she didn't. "This guy likes ditching his club! Gives us an opening!" Tyger hollered out. While the Cyclops took his deliberate, long steps to get to the club, Tyger sliced at his ankle, watching with satisfaction as the deep cut tore some of his HP away. She watched the rest of the team, hoping they'd have similar results.

  9. Distant rumbles and echos could be heard in the cave, and Tyger gritted her teeth. "Guys, I think something might be waking up!" Tyger murmured, cringing as she watched Baldur dash forward for the fifteenth hound. The hounds seemed to be more savage as time went along, and Tyger had to wonder if that had anything to do with the impending doom that would lumber at them any minute. Salvation had 3 heads, but all those heads bit by themselves. She was tired of fighting hounds, but was she really ready for Cerberus? Shaking the thoughts out of her head, Tyger followed Baldur with a quick charge and slammed her sword into the hound. It disappeared without much flash and show as the previous ones. Tyger exchanged a nervous look with Baldur. "It got quiet..." She murmured, before mouthing the words 'I love you' at her fella before looking around the cavern.

  11. "99 hellhounds in a giant ass cave, 99 hellhounds in a cave..."

Tyger held her sword out, preparing for the carnage that was the follow. The team seemed to move like a well oiled machine, and Tyger enjoyed being one of the cogs inside of it. As long as nothing was dropped, they'd move with speed and accuracy through the hounds. Baldur had charged forward, and Tyger charged, right on his heels as he'd imagined her. Baldur's strike was true, and had caused the hound to falter, even if only for a moment. It gave Tyger the time needed to finish it off with a quick strike. The hound fell to the ground and began to disappear, but not before dropping the phat loots.

"I really hope we don't have to face 99. We've been here for what, 14 hounds?"

  12. "After this, howsabout a date on the snow level, hmm?"

Tyger looked over at Baldur, raising an eyebrow in question. Her thought process had followed the same as his; this place was just too damn hot. "Hell, maybe even get a house there. As long as we never come to this floor again." Icarus seemed hurt by the statement, so Tyger backtracked. "Well, not never ever, but only for Icarus." Pleased with the remark, Icarus gave a headnod and rubbed his face against Tyger's cheek. However, affection could wait. Snow picnics could wait. Right now they just needed to destroy these damn dogs, a three headed dog, and then everything else was a piece of cake. Baldur attacked the twelfth dog, and Tyger charged to do the same. With the force of the impact, as well as her critical hit, the dog was destroyed before the blade could sink down into it's hide.

Pleased with herself, Tyger swished her blade back into it's sheath. "Get Rekd." She snickered, watching out for more hounds.

  13. "Oh how I wish I could come up with a witty reply..."

Tyger joked, attempting to think of a last part of the joke. But, unfortuantely, nothing was coming to her. She would have blamed it on the heat, but honestly, it wasn't all that bad at the moment. The searing bits of pain that she'd experienced upon entering the cave had practically ceased over the past few hounds. However, she didn't want to think that would be a trend. The moment she let her guard down was the moment she'd lose a bit of health from the heat and make a mistake. She couldn't afford to make many mistakes right now. Baldur charged after the hound, and Tyger followed suit, but when she went to slice into the hound, the wall of magma fell in front of her, causing her to dodge off to the side, barreling into Baldur (who had just gained his footing).

"That's not a thing I like. Give me three headed dog anyday. At least I can fight that. I can't really fight magma. We're both gingers, it would just get messy."

  14. Tyger felt herself moving just for the sake of beating down monotony. At this point of the game, she was going through the motions. This quest was taking too long. She felt as though she'd been here forever, despite the fact they were only knee deep in the dead hellhound count, and yet they kept coming with no Cerberus. Perhaps the quest was wrong? She wouldn't put it past Kayaba. "11 isn't a bad number. I was hoping for 10, but i'll do whatever it takes to get out of here, at this point." She'd been lucky with the environmental damage recently, but who knows how long that'd last?

Feeling herself going into the motions once more, she watched the team start wailing on the newest hound. Baldur charged after it, but with Alyss actually hitting this past round, it gave Tyger just enough leeway to actually get a last hit on the hound. Baldur's blade sliced through the hound, and Tyger watched with glittering eyes as the HP  nestled in that sweet spot. The sweet spot, of course, being the amount of damage she did. "Oh, you're mine." Tyger smirked, growling as she charged forward to hit the hound like a semi-truck. It let out a yip, and Icarus gurgled with glee as it exploded into tiny shards. The dragon jumped onto Tyger's head and began to bat at the crystals, as if they were something he could actually catch.

"Alright guys. I'm happy now. We can kill the three headed dog now."

Tyger beamed, grinning from ear to ear while Icarus attempted to catch the remnants of the hound still.

  15. Clearly dissatisfied with the crashing of the Cyclops's 'party,' the creature wasted no time snickering at Baldur with his miss, and scowling at Ariel for the damage she'd dealt to him. His one eye squinted at all of them, and he let out a bellowing roar, swinging his club once again at the red-headed woman. She stuck out against the crowd, and besides, she'd dealt the most damage so far, and deserved to be pummeled first. However, when he raised his club, a bit of blood he'd wiped on his hand from his knee injury made his hand slippery, causing his club to slip from his hands. It rocketed forward, almost hitting the party and knocking them down a few hit points.

"Whoah! That could have been bad!"

Tyger gasped, head turning from the club behind them to face the cyclops once more. Upon the realization he needed his club, the Cyclops began to run forwards - a very slow, deliberate process - that gave the team enough time to get another hit in. Tyger wasted no time slamming the edge of her sword into the foot of the creature as it passed her.

"Let's get a hit or two in before he gets his club back!"

Tyger stated, before running after the Cyclops. After he had his weapon, Tyger wanted to be the first thing it saw. It wasn't going to touch her friends.

  16. Tyger really, really wished she could have seen how Icarus was reacting to all of these charges. It seemed as though whenever they destroyed one hound, she was charging off to fight another one. She could feel his weight on her back, so he was still here (thankfully) but that didn't change the fact that he was stuck holding on while her body rocketed through the cavern to attack the random hounds that appeared.

"I know, I know, I still owe you a harness..."

She muttered under her breath, and chuckled when Icarus licked the side of her cheek. She couldn't reach back and stop him, so she just let it happen. It was hot, muggy, and sweaty already. Why not add dragon saliva to the mix? The next hound appeared after Oikawa destroyed the previous, so Tyger charged forward to give the hound the same fate the others had.

"This is what, like, nine or ten of these? So freakin' many.."

She grumbled, although Baldur was probably close enough to hear. Icarus merely snickered at Rhoan's dissatisfaction with each blow she landed, but oh well. Her job was coming soon. She couldn't wait to go  home and fix her shield, she hoped Cerberus messed it up real good. That meant he had been a challenge.

  17. "I'm really, totally, honestly fine with no bugs."

Tyger snickered, and gave Icarus a scratch. The soot from his body got on her fingers, but she just wiped it off on her hip.

"I'll take big earthy, angry mobs any day."

They didn't have creepy ass legs and beady eyes and... ugh, spiders. They weren't spiders. They were the worst. Tyger just wouldn't fight. Tyger would run away, no joke. As if on cue, a rocky groan filled the air as the stone walls beside them 'moved.' It was actually the back of a golem that was turning to face them, stony eyes void of emotion.

"Wahey! This is better than bugs."

As she said that, the golem reached out a stony hand to slap against her shield, knocking her back quite a few feet into the cavern wall.

    "I'm okay..."

She groaned from the rubble, standing up to dust herself off before charging at the beast. However, she hit her head, and temporarily got dizzy, missing her swing all together.

    "Wait... Now i'm okay."

  18. Tyger gritted her teeth and clenched her musles as the impact of the creature's blow pushed her body back. Her arm threatened to buckle under the pressure, and it physically shook, but she held strong. When the damage of the shield hurt the stone creature, it backed off, giving Tyger a few seconds to catch her breath and fix her attack. When Baldur mentioned the force of the blow, Tyger let out a snicker.

"It hits my shield, does that count?"

The poor leonine head that graced the front of the shield was mangled to bits from the blows. Perhaps having this shield type wasn't such a good idea. Still, it did good enough damage on the side.

"You messed up my lion's face!"

She hissed, leaping forward to scrape her sword down the rocky body of the sentinel. She did a decent amount of damage, if you combined it with the thorns from earlier.

Tyger agreed, smiling when Baldur's hand met hers.

"Made a new friend, killed some monsters, and just rocked it out there."

Baldur's compliment made her blush a bit, and she shrugged.

"Meh, everybody hits hard at low level. Pretty soon you'll be damaging circles around me. I just got lucky is all."

It was still nice to be recognized, so Tyger would give Baldur that.

  20. "Another one incoming!"

Tyger warned, watching Ariel deal a good chunk of damage. Baldur was next, but Tyger stayed back a few seconds, letting the aura of concentration swirl around her as her sword and instinct practically guided her arms and body in the direction of the hell hound. Her sword sliced down the side as she charged forward, noting the nice lengthy damaging scratch she'd placed on the creature's hide.

"It better have 3 heads, or i'm going to riot!"

    She chuckled to Ariel.

"I will say, a lot of the beasties here are awesome!"

The fact that they could kill you? Not so much.

  21. Ariel, they're not talking about making blacksmith light armor with leather. They're talking about using 'light metal' to make 'light armor' but it just isn't possible. With all the historical reenactments I do, there's NO SUCH THING as light metal armor. That stuff is heavy. I think you just misunderstood what they were getting at.

I'm glad option 3 was taken out, and glad that it was noticed with the alt accounts. It was perplexing to see that many votes on something everyone seems so blatantly against. And, of course, i'm glad to see the differentiation winning. This adds a lot more depth to what players choose for their professions and they'll actually have to plan out their sets, versus just throwing anything into their shop. I assume most people that aren't building any extra mitigation will probably go for leather armors, while putting the evasion on a shield if they're one handed (Or a trinket) plus their weapon for damage. if they're a two handed weapon, they'll either go for heavy or light depending on what they're going for, with a trinket to make up for their accuracy/evasion.

This also puts a heavier emphasis on skill points and what to take. Are there any plans to let people re-config their skill points to reflect the new armor changes?

  22. "Icarus, C'mon! Let's get this show on the road!"

Tyger called out, listening for the tumbling, clumsy footsteps of her familiar to bound down the steps and into her forge. After a few seconds, she heard him scrambling, so she left the door open for him so he could run inside. His tongue lolled and his butt waggled, tail shaking with excitement. The forge was all his to light, so Tyger let him do that while she prepared the few mats she had left for crafting today.

"Phew. This is gonna be a short day, I think."

However, she set her work gloves and hammer to work, hammering through a few items before salvaging the remains of a few bad ones. However, when she went to remake them, she just kept making bad items! Thankfully she could resalvage them, but geeze. A lot of work for only a good item in the end...

  23. Tyger followed Baldur, with Lessa in tow. Excited for their first quest, Tyger bumped Baldur's hip with her own.

"I think we did pretty good, especially with Lessa's help! We rocked our first quest."

She held her hand out for a high five, but moved it at the last second so Baldur wouldn't hit her hand.

"Besides, it can't be too hard to get to the village. And, i'm sure we'll get our bearings soon. We were around the forests edge our first day out adventuring, when we found those wolves and Kobolds. Remember?"

Aaaah, good times. And by good times, she meant terrifying, nerve wracking first days.

  24. There was no stinging pain from the heat this round, so Tyger figured either her Battle Healing had kicked in, or she was currently safe from the stinging heat. He dry heat still bit at her face though, and made her eyes squint whenever a new gust of hot air graced her presence. Yuck.

"Yeah yeah... I've given up on these last hits."

Tyger chuckled at Baldur, trying to keep her mood light.

"Icarus and I see through you!"

Sticking her tongue out at her boyfriend, she charged the newest hound, slicing straight into it's hide. She watched with hope as the HP fell, but stopped at the end. Of course. Well, at least they were getting some loot by the end of this, given all these damn dogs...
