What is the actual upside of using two handed weapons? You're giving up all the max 50 MIT a shield gives you for..? I chose to use them so long ago I've forgotten the reason.

Yeah, whoops, I didn't look at dagger or whip too closely.
So yeah, it looks like it's all over the place, no "this weapon is for this build" kind of thing. No real reason to take a two-hander over a sword/board combo other than diversity among characters or character aesthetics.
Now, if two handers gained something like x2 DMG/Bleed if on a weapon or something, it might separate the two. That's for someone else to figure out, though.

I was actually kinda wondering the same thing. If two-handers are supposed to do more damage, I don't really see it and when they do, it's very marginal. You can find a lot of the same Sword Arts on one-handed weapons.
You sacrifice the functionality of block and extra mitigation for an almost non-existent damage increase. I believe the highest AOE two-hand art is a 12x damage and a single-hand curved sword does 11x AOE.
For single target, rapier, a one-handed weapon, is top damage.
So, I don't know, I guess for aesthetics?
