  1.      "You die a martyr's death.  Then someone else spreads lies that causes division.  Division causes conflict.  Conflict causes battle.  And battle causes death.  Then someone else stands up to bring the peace and the cycle continues.  You stand up to a warlord and they torture you in front of everyone.  Despite your smiles, the people are terrified of what will happen to them if they do not comply.  If they stand up to the warlord, bloodshed once again.  You see the pattern here yes?  No matter what path or manner in which you attempt to handle things, it leads to lies and bloodshed.  All it takes is one sentence to start a war Ember.  In addition, there are a great many times where people can commit crimes, yet be within confines of the law and thus get away with it.  Or better yet, those who enforce the law are corrupt.  People stop trusting each other as brother betrays brother.  More conflict.  You just can't seem to grasp it can you?  There is no way to end it!  Where there is one person seeking to stop the evil, there are three others fighting for it to continue.  You aren't just fighting powerful people Ember.  You are outnumbered, outgunned."

  2.      "There's a flaw in that philosophy of yours.  You can smile to a murderer and it won't stop him from shooting you.  You can smile to a rapist but it doesn't stop him from seeking pleasure.  You can smile to a terrorist but it doesn't stop him from bombing a block.  You can smile to a warlord but it doesn't stop him from abusing his power.  Do you see the problem?  Do you see the pattern?  The more good you are, the more well known and popular you become.  The bigger of a target you are until one day.  They make you an example and all your work has meant nothing.  That goodness you've committed turned into nothing but fear, terror and anger.  Kindness doesn't stop them Ember.  It only fuels them.  Like a raging fire, the world turns everything and everything into fuel.  If water stands in it's way the world just floods it with oil."  He looked back into the fire that continued to spread.

    "I know that you don't hate me.  I know that you believe what you do is the right way to do things.  However I've accepted this:  There is no fixing the world.  There's only containing it.  You can't stop it.  If you still think it's possible then go look talk with people about their issues.  I know a street on floor one filled with players with stories from this world, and the real world.  If you still insist I won't stop you.  But you must understand, if you cannot find an actual method to fix the world.  Then I'll continue with my own method."

  3.     "You at least have memories of you and your father.  I was only weeks old when mind was torn from me.  At least you had a mother who cared for you, despite not being there.  It's easy to talk about matters like this when you were never born on the bottom.  Pushed and forced into the battlefield at an age I was at.  You have memories and people you can treasure.  I have none.  Nothing but a picture, the first picture I've ever had of her.  And a voice all too soon forgotten and lost.  I have no happy memories Embers."  She then came over to him and talked to him about anger.  How there was no adrenaline boost in this world, which he could prove her wrong on.  And how all it provided was a lack of logical thinking.  She tried to convince him with stories of how people saved others from suicide through kindness.  She then placed her hand on his shoulder armor, harming her health in the process, and talked to him about how holding onto hate would only end him.  Domarus sighed and took his helmet off, placing it to his side.

    "You sound like Esther...  Tell me:  What good will one good act do when the world commits ten evil acts every second?  You think kindness is contagious, but it's nowhere near as powerful as cruelty, selfishness, pride, lust and greed.  Not as potent by itself, but they spread quicker.  A kind act to save one individual is nothing in the large scheme of things.  Your way doesn't work, and neither does mine.  Show me one that works, and I'll reconsider.  As far as hatred..  I know it destroys me.  At the same time however I've always been hatred.  This isn't something you can just change about me Embers.  Especially in this world."

    @Hestia

  4. Domarus grit his teeth and stood up, his visor lighting up bright yet dark, a menacing field of hatred suddenly shrouding him.

    "Is that so?!  My mother DIED before I was old enough to remember her!  Cardinal showed her for a few seconds.  Long enough for me to register her voice but not long enough to memorize it!!  DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW IT FEELS?!  TO HAVE JUST HEARD A VOICE YOU'VE ONLY IMAGINED?!  A VOICE YOU'VE LONGED FOR?!  ONLY TO FORGET IT AGAINST YOUR WILL ONLY MINUTES AFTER HEARING IT FOR THE FIRST TIME?!  KAYABA TAUNTED ME!  AND HE WILL PAY FOR IT WITH HIS LIFE!!!"  He breathed heavily for a moment or two before he had calmed down for his initial outbreak.

    "In my entire life.  I've only ever known the worst of mankind.  My father included.  My only friend?  Someone who is forever scarred by her own mental issues.  I tried to make friends at a young age, before I accepted what I was.  Needless to say it ended badly.  The only person I could ever feel love for was my mother, and that was only after I had investigated her.  My father would say nothing of her, even fight me when I brought it up.  So.  I only knew she was a kind woman.  And now cardinal brings a memory I could never access, has me hear her, and then forget her voice only minutes afterward?  Why shouldn't I hate Kayaba and his creation?  Do you not feel hatred for him?  For creating this world that forces players to face powerful demons who seek to slaughter everyone at every corner?"  Domarus pulled the picture from his inventory again and sat down, staring at it.  He was silent for the longest time as he stared at it.  After a while he spoke up, at his most vulnerable.

    "I hate you all.  I hate you because I envy you.  The ignorance of the world and the bliss nature of it.  The state of weakness and having others to carry you through it.  The naive and innocent mindset, allowing you to just carry on no matter what.  I never had that.  Not even once.  And I hate you all for it.  Now I'm stuck here.  Forced to accept the world as it is ever second.  Forced to accept that kindness doesn't work.  Forced to find some way to at least contain and control the evil of the world."

    @Hestia

  5.      "Just shut up, I'm in no mood for another philosophical argument,"  he said suddenly.  Then she continued on to describe the benefits of a prison and how she hoped to use it to make the world a better place.  She wanted cooperation on the front lines.

    "There was a girl who knew who I was, truly was.  She cared for me despite it.  What ended up happening was she was taken by a group of players who made unique potions.  One of them turned her mind into an empty, and compliant slave to their whims.  They abused her in every way, and publicly as well.  And so I made them suffer.  This was before the abuse of potions and the ability to feel pain was removed entirely mind you.  They were the first pk guild I had decimated.  The first guild I slaughtered.  It wasn't just me of course, but I dealt the biggest blow to them.  I enjoyed seeing them writhe in pain.  I enjoyed seeing them suffer.  You can build your prison for all I care, and even get me to donate for the sake of reputation.  But I don't care either way."  She finished by acknowledging that they were similar, at long last.  She finally admitted it.  And she was correct in that there were differences in the way they were raised.  He was silent until he realized she'd make no more words until he replied.
         "While you were playing games and watching movies with your family, I had the pleasure of sitting with my father at the age of seven, and watch a man be tortured in the middle of a street, very gruesomely.  The military could do nothing as the men had hostages.  I've grown up seeing the worst of mankind.  I've seen stories and videos that would scar you for life girl.  Supposed holy men who had done unthinkable things.  I've seen just about every cop break the law or do something criminal, and get away with it every time.  I see people who try to do good and just be 'kind, generous', trying to spread that kindness to others, get destroyed on their first step out into the real world.  There is no right way Embers.  Neither way works.  But that will not stop me from taking control of the world.  It won't stop me from attempting it my way.  I won't forgive this world.  I won't forgive those who fuel the chaos.  The chaos that created me:  A fire that will burn them all to nothing.  I won't forgive Cardinal, or Kayaba, for what they've done to me...  If there's a God out there, he'll acknowledge me as the king of hell.  Because of what the world has done.  Because of what I was forged into.  I was made to conquer and destroy.  There is nothing that will change that Embers."

    @Hestia

  6.      "Aileen was the name of the woman on the photo you saw.  I know you looked at, or at least told you about it."  He continued to stare into the flames as Hestia began to continue.  He ignored the nickname, and said nothing in regard to the floor, fires or it's relation to himself.  He chose this floor because it wasn't too dangerous for him, and players never came here.  There was no sentimental reason he came here at all.  Just a place to grind and rage in solitude.  Normally Keres would come with him, but today...  He needed isolation.  She was silent for a moment after he spoke, but then started getting onto him about assuming she enjoyed seeing people suffer.  Domarus did...  When Esther had been captured and forced to drink a potion that transformed her into the mindless and abused slave of the player killers, he made their deaths long, and extremely painful.  He took advantage of the fact that he could inflict pain without actually killing them by stabbing their throats, hearts and such.  He could make them feel death seven times over.  It was because of that action that Cardinal removed pain permanently, though he didn't tell Keres that little bit.  Hestia spoke about how she just wanted people to live happy lives, and enjoy themselves.  She finished her little speech by stating that he couldn't keep this facade up forever, and that she only saw people unsatisfied and angry once the truth had been revealed.

    "You're so naive.."  he said softly.  He didn't say anything else after that.  He just sat there in silence.

    @Hestia

  7. Domarus heard Hestia approach and placed the picture into his inventory quickly.  When Hestia spoke Domarus' fist clenched suddenly, before just letting go.

    "Keres is going to pay for telling you that name."  Never had Keres betrayed him, and he knew she never would without good reason...  That meant that he really had gone a little too far and scared her.  Legitimately.  Enough for her to go to their enemy, to reach out to Hestia of all people.  To help her bring him back.  He turned around and looked at Hestia, showing no signs of aggression other than the complete obliteration of the bandit camp.  He opened his menu and put the ax back into his inventory to show that he wouldn't use it on her.  He doubted she'd trust him regardless, but he wasn't up for putting an act on.  He wasn't able to talk smack or rage out at her.  His emotions had moved on to another phase.  He sat down on a massive stone nearby and just stayed there silently for a moment.

    "Go ahead and enjoy this moment Embers.  See your enemy in this state and relish it.  I don't give a s**t."  His eyes stared at the flames that raged uncontrollably in the surrounding area.  The red glow in the visor was gone, allowing the fire to show in his armor as a reflection perfectly.  Fire.  It consumed everything in it's path.  It was undefinable.  Uncontrollable.  Anything could make it stronger if used right.

    @Hestia

  8. Domarus stood over the pile of corpses that shattered and flowed into the air, one by one.  His ax was buried in the most recent one killed.  The fire had become a raging force by now.  Mimicking his recent actions, raging around him.  Consuming everything in it's path.  Everything save for him.  He was surrounded by the fire, trapped by it's power.  Giving him time to calm down and ponder things.  He pulled the picture from his inventory and looked at the face of his mother.  She was more beautiful than he had originally anticipated.  When the potion he drank with Esther revealed his mother to him, it showed her as he had imagined her.  He saw her with red hair, but she wasn't nearly this beautiful.  He imagined her as a normal person, with an American accent, not an Irish Accent.  He heard her voice twice now in his life....  And already the voice had all but completely slipped his mind.  All he could recall was her voice was beautiful, peaceful.  Almost like literal music with every word.  He tightened his free hand in anger that Cardinal toyed with him in this way.  He stood there, alone with the fire, and his mother.  He didn't move.  Didn't budge.  Not for the longest time.  He didn't even realize that this was supposed to be a quest, which of course he never accepted.  He also didn't notice a player approaching him from behind.

    @Hestia

  9. While the fire began to leech it's way across the fabric, desperate to become stronger and rage everywhere.  Just as Domarus was at this very moment.  The bandits had heard the noise and were gathering together to work as one rather than let themselves be picked off one by one.  By the time Domarus had reached them they had formed  into three groups.  Two in defensive positions and stances, and one in offensive.  They stared at the player who had decimated their men and encampment.  They saw the fire flaring behind him and some of them were angered by it.  Domarus began to walk forward, slowly at first.  He swung the weapon around and began picking up his pace.  It was then the npc bandits began to charge, the defensive groups taking the blunt of Domarus' strikes.  He slashed in a wide arc at them, lashing out at both groups in one fell swoop.  Killing a few and injuring the others.  This fight was going to be quick.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

        "I don't give a **** how you start it!  Just, to get his attention and to keep him from murdering you tell him 'Aileen'.  He'll know what it means.  Tell him I told you.  He'll beat me up later and you get your answers d**nit!  Maybe this will finally get you off our backs once and for all!.."  She let go and fell back into her seat, staring at Hestia steadily.

    "I'm angry at you for attacking Domarus and trying to destroy his dreams.  At least Raven is willing to give him a chance.  I wonder:  When you started this fight against him.  Did you not bother learning about him because you were afraid that if you did, he wouldn't be a villain for you to conquer?  But a human being?"  Keres stood up suddenly.  She seemed genuinely hurt as well as angry, pained, scared, and just sad.

    "You better bring my Domarus back.  Bring him back.  You understand?..  Then maybe I'll forgive you."  With that she turned around and left the building without waiting for a response.

    @Hestia

  10. Domarus stood among the dead corpses that cardinal quickly turned into nothing but crystals.  He panted as his body was demanding more energy but he kept moving onward.  He didn't care if the npc was bringing more fighters along with him.  He didn't want to wait.  He wanted to slaughter everything on this floor until nothing else remained.  He soon reached a point where he could see the camp of bandits, and the npc who came to warn them.  Domarus began walking down the hill, quickening his pace bit by bit until he was charging down the rocky mass into the encampment.  Two bandits guarding the entrance barely had any time to react as Domarus lopped off their heads with a single aoe sword art, his red visor flashing to match his sheer rage.  He turned a corner and swung his blade upward, cutting the throat and head of his next victim, then activating charge again to shoot over to his next opponent.  As he did so he struck a lantern which fell onto one of the tents, starting a fire...

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Keres sat there listening to Hestia and grumbled something about it not being the same.  When she mentioned a room and how she had seen memories from the real world, Keres' brows furrowed in confusion.  Was this similar to the Calming the Soul quest?  Why was Cardinal making so many quests linked to the players and not floor lore?  When Hestia mentioned how the picture she got was from a memory she stiffened.  If she got one, that meant Domarus received a memory in the form of a picture.  She was sipping some of her drink when Hestia described what Domarus did and what she had seen.  Keres' eyes widened and she let the cup fall, splashing on her outfit and landing on the ground under the table.  Her hands were shaking as she stared at Hestia.

    "He, saw..  Cardinal showed..  Oh no..."  Keres raked her fingers through her hair as she understood now.  Cardinal had showed Domarus his mother.  The one person he quite possibly ever truly loved despite never actually knowing her personally.  And more than likely it showed the memory once and he wanted to see or hear her again.  One more time.  Keres suddenly leaped forward and grabbed Hestia's wrist, spilling the girl's drink in the process.

    "Find Domarus!  Find him and talk with him, NOW.  He's probably on a floor players don't go to, where he can grind mobs to get his anger out.  Most likely floor nine.  Don't ask questions, don't wait JUST GO AND TALK TO HIM!!"

    @Hestia

  11. The figure watched as he approached and was understandably wary.  The figure kept his defensive stance up when Domarus began to attack.  The style of fighting he was using was not at all focused on strategy, but instead just brute force and strength.  And it was clear that the npc would die if it didn't use strategy against him.  The figure started with attempting to parry but after doing so was knocked back a bit.  And decided evading his attacks would be of more use to him than blocking or parrying.  And so he did so, dodging under and around Domarus' massive swings, trying to wait Domarus out.  However the more and more misses Domarus made, the faster and more aggressive the man became in his attacks, forcing the npc to try and make counter attacks.  With each counter however, Domarus showed he didn't care about receiving some damage, and the npc lost some health with each attack.  The npc smiled suddenly.  It knew it was going to die, but at least he'd die in combat.  And with that Domarus cleaved through him from tip to bottom, carving him in half.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

         "I can't touch cardinal.  It doesn't have a body I can rip apart..  I think I understand how Domarus feels most of the time now."  When Hestia asked her about seeing the picture she looked up into Hestia's eyes.

    "I'm not that bad Embers, I only broke in to get your attention.  Because I was angry.  I still am.  I just don't understand why you won't just leave us alone..  As for your picture, no.  I didn't snoop around.  I'm guessing though that it's your family.  Did you draw it out or something?"

    @Hestia

  12. Domarus watched as the other three npcs rushed him from all sides, but it wasn't anything he couldn't handle.  He spun his two handed ax around swiftly, starting with a diagonal slash from bottom to top against the right target, who tried to block but was knocked back anyway from the force of the blow.  He then spun the weapon upward and in a circle, striking from below and essentially sending the second target flying behind Domarus.  He then reached out and grabbed the third one's weapon with his bare hands and twisted the mans wrists.  Breaking them and his grip on his blade.  Domarus cleaved the man's head right off afterwards.  As the figure fell lifeless to the ground, the npc he had thrown over him ran away, most likely to bring some backup.  The man Domarus had knocked back had stood up and taken up a defensive position, deciding it wasn't a good idea to rush someone completely covered in thick black armor.  Domarus spun his weapon before charging at the last man standing.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Keres felt her wrists taken hold and she struggled for a moment, trying to wrestle free of Hestia's grip.

    "Who did it then?!  If not you then who did it?!"  After a little more struggling she finally went limp, literally hanging by Hestia's grip on her wrists.  She was silent for a moment before finally nodding slowly.
    Povós flicked it's tongue at Keres' cheek, trying to clear up some of the tears she was shedding.  When Hestia let go she wouldn't budge, she'd just sit there on the floor silently.  Staring at nothing.  Porvós tried leading her into the room but his lack of arms made that difficult.  Resulting in the familiar looking to Hestia for assistance.  Once Keres was in the kitchen she'd simply sit in a chair silently.  Anger, pain, terror, and sadness all being very strong emotions in her, and very clearly seen.

    @Hestia

  13. The figure rushed him with a longsword, swinging to parry Domarus' blow.  Unfortunately for the man, Domarus was too quick for his parry and landed a solid hit first.  He swung in an uppercut, sending the figure up into the air and when he came back down Domarus punched him with enough force to break through a boulder.  He activated charge and launched at the npc who pulled up his blade to block Domarus' strike, his arms nearly shattering from the sheer force and power behind the black armored figure's blow.  Domarus punched the npc's head, weakening his grip on the weapon which Domarus then tore from the man's hands.  At least he would if the npc didn't have a strong grip on them.  Tired of this he tore it hard enough to rip the npc's fingers off along with it.  Before he could scream in pain Domarus began punching him repeatedly, red pixels flying in each direction.  When he finished the brutal end he stood up, knowing that there were other npcs watching him from around.  He picked up his ax and took a breath before turning around.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Keres watched as Hestia entered her battle gear but she didn't care.  Let the girl get an orange cursor for a day.  She walked defiantly up to Hestia, hatred and disbelief in her eyes.

    "Give me one d**n good reason I should believe you!  You HATE Domarus and you HATE his plans!!  Why wouldn't you do or say something to throw him off?  He won't talk to me, he won't even show himself!  For the first time we've known each other, he didn't tell me where he went!  YOU RUINED IT!!  YOU STUPID HAG WHAT DID YOU DO?!?!"  She began to beat against Hestia's armor as she yelled.  She couldn't deal any damage so she received no orange cursor, her own hands were receiving thorns damage, glowing more and more red with each hit.  Because it was a counter offense that Hestia couldn't control, she also didn't receive an orange cursor.  Keres continued to scream and curse at Hestia, her strikes slowing down over time until she started crying uncontrollably.

    "What have you done to him?  What did you do to my....  Why did you do this?  I hate you, I hate you..."

    @Hestia

  14. Domarus was on the ninth floor.  He had just hacked his seventeenth mob into oblivion.  He was slaughtering as many monsters as he could not for col or gear.  He just needed to decimate something.  Kayaba would pay for what he did, for playing with him this way.  He always tried to remember the voice he heard but it was so difficult.  Each time he tried to remember it only became harder and harder to remember clearly.  He still had the picture but it wasn't enough.  It would never be enough!  Domarus needed to get his hands on Kayaba and crush the life out of his soul.  He would break him tenfold and everything he ever loved.  He cleaved another monster in half with his black ax and shot right over to the next one.  He had lost energy long ago and was merely fighting on sheer adrenaline.  In a blind rage he lashed out at everything.  Even the cliffside and mountain wasn't safe as he hacked through stone causing a landslide.  The rocks that threatened to crush him he simply shattered with several swings of his ax.  A monster in the form of a bandit attacked and he launched at it.  Very glad he had a humanoid shaped target that he could destroy.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Keres stood in Hestia's room in the dark corner.  Porvós was told to stay where he usually was while the two waited for Hestia to wake up.  Keres wasn't happy.  She was furious.  The entire time she stood there she glared at Hestia.  Getting into the house was easy, especially since she had picked up the lock picking skill.  Hestia may react and lash out but Keres could easily pin her down.  Especially when she was mad.  She wanted the girl to wake up, wanted to find out what she did or said.  What she could have done to make Domarus snap in such a way.  Not even she could get to him...  She grit her teeth and tightened her fist at the thought.  If Hestia didn't wake up soon she would beat her awake.  When Hestia woke up, regardless of whether she saw Keres or not she would speak up:

    "You..  You sick b***h.  What the hell did you do?!  What did you say to him?!  Tell me what you did or I swear I'LL kill you myself!"

    @Hestia

  15. Keres tried to keep up the pace Domarus was having.  Trying to keep up with him but he was walking fast even for her.

    "Domarus...  Master?..  What happened?  What did that b***h do?"

    "SHUT UP!!"
    Keres grinned in response but then, it faltered.  She could tell that this..  This was more serious than usual.  He wasn't pissed at Hestia..  He was pissed off at something, someone else.  But who?  More than that he wasn't just wrathful.  He was...  She didn't, know.  For the first time she had no idea what was going through Domarus' mind and it scared her half to death.  Even Raven would see this was evident.  Domarus just kept marching on, and would leave them behind if they were not careful.  Even Rhozarth he waved away.  He opened his inventory and equipped his black armor to hide himself yet again as he marched onward.  He didn't care who sent a message to who.  He didn't care who did what.  He needed time to vent.  He needed time to destroy...  And much more that he doubted he would ever have done in his entire life.  And there was only one place he could really go to be truly alone.  Somewhere others wouldn't be going due to the theme of the floor...

    @Hestia

    Domarus leaves the thread

  16. Keres sighed, rolling her eyes.

    "Whatever.  Regardless of what happens you seem so insistent on treating him like he's the villain of Aincrad, of the entire world.  What does that make you, the heroine?..  Domarus is going to be here soon and I don't think you'll want him seeing you as of right now.  Here.  Take another bottle.  Treats on me.  Helps me forget that I can't feel pain..  I wonder what it will help you with...."  She took another drink after saying this, and Porvós slithered off of Keres and over to Hestia.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Domarus could see the town and thus, the teleport pad which was coming in close.  they were getting rather close to home at this point.  He turned to her as she shared her thoughts, which were both annoying and interesting to hear.  She disagreed with both of their methods, but he'd show her how effective he could be.  As he trained her she would learn the true power of manipulation and deception.  His plan would be going along perfectly if it weren't for Hestia getting a hold of his journal.  Though it was partly his fault, one that he would never again duplicate.  He turned to Raven again to ask one more question.

    "And with that I ask you this, and don't lie:  Do you intend to continue working with me as I work towards my goals?  As I work towards world domination to change it once and for all?  Are you planning to work beside me and not against me?  Albeit of course your sister will never be in harms way...  Assuming I can figure a way to keep her quiet in the real world that is."  He needed to know.  Was she on his side?  Was she against him?  Was she neutral helping both sides?  He wasn't entirely sure yet but this would tell him for certain..

    @Hestia

  17. Domarus stood there, his eyes full of fiery rage, but also a tear forming in his eyes.  He ground his fingers into the wall so hard it was a wonder the code hadn't broken and just let him tear this whole building down by now.  Suddenly he heard Hestia's voice from behind him.  No hostility in her voice.  But that was just her knee jerk response.  She didn't really care about Domarus, nor would she ever.  She hated manipulation, and he was the incarnation of that.  Therefore she hated him.  Simple as that.  However she had broken him out of that wrathful trance allowing him to see the picture he had just received.  The unfortunate part was that it was in view of others to see it.  He quickly moved his hand preventing further sight and sent it into his inventory.  He turned to her, the tears now gone.  He stood over her and said:

    "You speak one word of this to anyone.  I will make you regret having lived in the first place."  With that he turned and shot up the staircase once more.  He would exit the door to see a surprised Keres and told her to follow before she could say anything.  She knew his state:  Something personal happened and he was wrathful.  she grinned as she thought of her future beating.  He called for Raven to come as well.  He didn't even realize that down where Hestia still was, the tiny crack he made in the wall still lingered.  His pain, shock, anger, longing and joy.  would remain permanently in the crack in the wall...

Domarus continued down the flight of stairs, not caring about Hestia or this quest even.  He just wanted to find the source of all of this and put it out of it's misery.  No one messed with his mind and got away with it.  Domarus would make them suffer, even if it was cardinal.  Once he had beaten this game and helped them all escape, he'd have his men hack the system and give Cardinal a body.  A body he could torture to the end of days.  He would have his revenge.  As they reached the bottom his armor suddenly entered his inventory, leaving him in only his black shirt and pants.  His eyes narrowed at the action and he tried to open his menu but it wouldn't do so.  One could almost see a fire flare in his eyes at this.  No one took his possessions and got away with it.  Not even the God of this world and his pet cardinal.  He sighed in frustration and anger as there really wasn't much he could do.  Raven would hear nothing of this of course, and if Hestia saw anything he'd make sure she remained silent of what they found here as well.  She'd probably hate him for it but he didn't care.  She hated him period.  That was the end of it.  Domarus walked beside Hestia as she made the advance, choosing to move forward.  He was guessing Kayaba wanted emotional reaction and not just a suit of armor standing there, and that was why he removed his helmet and armor.

    When he reached the end however, what he saw wasn't what he had expected whatsoever.  In fact when he figured it out, he didn't think it was possible at all.  He saw nothing but a white room, bright lights and the like.  There was a lot of crying and noise going along when suddenly a face came into view.  She was a very beautiful woman with red hair and deep green eyes.  She started speaking the way one would speak and comfort an infant...  While she was staring at..  Domarus' eyes widened, slowly.  Shock on his face and, for the first time in an eternity, there was a sheen in his eyes.  As if they were going to water but were fighting against it.  He could't speak.  He couldn't move.  Because he was looking into a face he never thought he would ever, EVER see in his life.  His mother.  Who died only a few weeks after giving birth to him.

         "Shhhhh shh shh shhhh...  It's ok Harken. Mommy's here.  I'll be here a little while longer, don't worry."  Domarus couldn't understand it, how the hell was he seeing this?!  How could Cardinal pull this memory from his mind?  He couldn't even remember it!  How could a machine pull a memory he no longer had access to.  Yet even as he thought this he fell silent as she spoke again.

    "Don't worry Harken.  I'm here for you, even if it's not physically.  I'll be with you in spirit.  Stay strong my darling.  Shhhh shhh.  Rest now, rest while I'm here."  The memory ended.  It was quick, it was swift.  Only a minute long at most.  But it was so much for him to take in.  She had red hair as he suspected.  She had an Irish accent which surprised him as he didn't realize how traditional she was.  She apparently knew she was dying but she seemed at peace with it.  Domarus stood there as the memory faded and he placed his hand on it, wishing it would repeat.  So he could hear her voice one last time.  One more time so he could repeat it in his head forever.  But it didn't repeat.  No...  NO.  He thought.  He pounded his closed fist against the wall and roared.

    "NOOOOOO!!  DON'T YOU DARE DO THIS TO ME KAYABA!!  DON'T PULL THIS S**T ON ME!!  I WILL F***ING END YOU!!"

    @Hestia

  19. Keres nodded at Hestia's words and swirled her bottle around a bit.

    "Only change that happened to Domarus was his resolve.  This world has only made him more determined to complete his mission.  As usual, I'm there for him..  Every step of the way.."  She took another drink as Hestia continued, stating that she could indeed believe her when it came to the children.

    "Well that's a start.  At least you're open to seeing him in a different light.  You may encounter him when he's more...  Open one day, if you're careful enough.  Just keep your eyes open, and try not to be so biased and stubborn against him.  Try putting yourself in his shoes.  Remember what he told you about his childhood.  About how he was raised.  Remember what he went through whenever you run into him."

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

         "Doesn't matter what people's opinions are about the means.  One fact remains:  It's the only real way to go about it.  The only true way to succeed in saving this world.  Doesn't matter how corrupt it is.  I knew what I was the moment I started on this mission.  I've accepted my fate so I don't give a s**t what your sister thinks."  He continued to walk, though slowed down a bit to keep from seeming angry.

    "So Raven.  What do you think?  What are your honest feelings?  Do you believe what she says?  That the end doesn't justify the means?  Do you disagree with my methods?"  he needed to get her to tell him the truth.  To not avoid telling the whole truth, not hiding anything or twisting anything to seem like the truth but not really be it.  He needed to know for sure, whose side she was on truly.  He was suspicious of her earlier and he wanted those doubts lifted.  But whether they would be lifted or made stronger was entirely up to what she said next, the manner in which she said it, and how she appeared when she said it.

    @Hestia

  20. Manipulation.  Deception.  Persuasion.  Strength.  Determination.  Power.  Relentless.  These were the traits he'd use to conquer and reforge the world.  He would Manipulate those around them since they were either too corrupt to be good, or too good to do what was necessary.  He would use Deception because he was not the hero the world wanted or craved.  He was what it needed, and what it feared.  And to preserve himself and the plan, he would use the shadows as his cloak, mask and dagger.  He would Persuade those he encountered, whether to follow him or work with him.  Charisma was a very powerful ally in this world.  Strength because he would certainly encounter physical forces that aimed to have him kill.  And he would destroy them first.  Determination because of the long trek ahead of him.  Power that came in every form, be it strength, political, numbers, or leverage.  Relentless because his opponents would be so as well.  Hestia, Raven, Esther, the Celestial Ascendants.  They were all fools to believe this world could be healed and fixed through good acts alone.  The world was evil and corrupt, and would lash out and destroy that goodness, matching it and beyond tenfold.  Every time..  Death.  Physical and emotional torture.  Be strong or die.  This was the world's rule.  And it hasn't changed since the beginning.

  21.      "I'm afraid I can't disclose that information until I'm certain I can trust you Hesti.  Don't get me wrong, you're cute and sweet, but when it comes to Domarus you lose it.  And seeing as how Domarus is the one thing in my life that I care about, I can't share anything with you unless you prove you can have self control and not do anything against him."  When she mentions how she was now drinking age Keres just chuckles and takes another drink.  When Hestia spoke she was silent for a moment and took another drink.

    "Would you believe me if I told you yes?  For children that is.  He doesn't care much about those who can do something about their life but choose not to.  Or people who think they can save the world that doesn't want to be saved.  But children?  Those people who are completely powerless in mind and body?  Who are so easily manipulated and influenced by their parents and strangers?  He wants them to have a chance..  When we started in this world it was a girl with pink hair.  Never seen anyone else get so close to him before.  The next big event was your sister.  I of course was the first overall."

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

         "I saved you, protected you, not because you were strong Raven.  It was because you showed the strong will to survive.  You were completely powerless.  You weren't like the others.  You didn't squander power, you had none.  You were never given a choice.  So I gave you one.  I didn't hate nor care for you.  What I do care about however, is allowing people to actually have the chance to do something.  Had you chosen a road against me I would have abandoned you to find your own path.  And it doesn't matter if anyone understands me or not.  Your sister is living proof:  No one will care.  About the mission.  About the goal at the end...  It's just me and whoever I manipulate to my own means."  He began to quicken his pace a little, moving forward towards the town.  He wasn't in the mood to keep grinding today.  He wasn't in the mood to look for materials.  He needed to restrategize against Hestia once and for all.

    @Hestia

  22. Domarus knew they weren't real.  He didn't care.  They were preventing him from progressing so he moved them.  The figure vanished after she spoke however so he tightened his fist and stood like nothing happened.  He followed Hestia through the doorway and walked down the staircase.  There were many images and almost clips from his past.  He couldn't see Hestia's life as it was her own, but his life was very much clear... Except instead of going from his childhood to now, it was moving in reverse.  He watched as his memories moved from his first job which would ignite the spark that would launch him into his conquest, back to school which he had dominated.  To his childhood where he played video games as practice.  It was happening slower than written, but for Domarus it felt like the snap of a finger.  He had made progress in such short time.  He had much to accomplish when he returned to the real world.  When it hit the scenes with his father his eyes narrowed under the helmet.  The visor flared and his fist tightened.  He watched as the man showed his younger self videos of terrorists torturing men in the middle of the street, in sight of soldiers who could do nothing because of hostages.  It was one of the many thousand horrors his father showed him.  The many horrors and truths of what this world truly was.  And that the only way to avoid it?  Was to be in full and absolute control...

  23. There were soon more and more ghost like figures.  At first it was two.  Then four.  Then eight.  There was always one that would wrestle and fight Domarus and he had to use many techniques, including ones he made himself, to overcome it and move forward.  Every time he did however there would be more spectators, and the physical one would always become more skilled than before.  Keres was missing too.  He seemed to be going in circles.  By the time there were sixteen spirits watching the fight he gave in and chose to not move forward and instead beat the ghost into submission.  However every time he nearly had it, the spirit would vanish suddenly, appearing somewhere it had an advantage over him.  The fight continued and continued until Domarus had finally roared with hatred and pinned it against the wall.  The figure smiled and he could see it in detail now.  It wasn't his father.  It was in fact someone else entirely.  It was one of the kids he had taken out in the player killing guild.  One of the psychotic ones.  Only three escaped his men's onslaught.  This was one of the children killed.  But why was he fully grown?  Was this what he would have looked like if he grew up?  Suddenly all the figures were revealed to be the children he had sentenced to death.  Those who would have gone on a slaughter and butcher people at random.  What he didn't realize was that the wall the kid was pinned against was the staircase into a quest.

  24.      "Oh Hestie~  of course I'm doing this to get you emotional.  I'd go insane if I didn't have a pastime to help me forget the lack of any.  Pain..  In this.  World...  But it's also true.  I'm the only eye witness of course, though your sister seems to see it too.  I doubt you'd believe me because I'm his friend, and I doubt you'd believe your sister because he's, as you put it:  'manipulating and deceiving her'."  When she stated that she'd rather not go somewhere else, Keres giggled and tossed Hestia a whiskey.

    "In that case drink up.  Irish made.  Alcohol doesn't exist in this world so in the end all it does is calm people down.  Make em drowsy if you drink too much.  You 'civil' people and your tea.  Spice things up a bit you."  When Hestia spoke about Domarus and how he only has control of his anger for his own uses she rolled her eyes again.

    "On and on and on you go about how f***ing terrible he is.  I was told you were the most positive and uplifting person anyone knew.  How about you try using that side of yours for once eh?  You are so biased against Domarus that you simply and outright refuse to see him in any good light whatsoever."  When Hestia pried for more details about her past she took a long drink.

    "Tell you what?  Stop attacking my only friend and the only thing he dedicates his life to, and then I'd consider.  I only ever tell my friends this little secret of mine.  And I am very good at keeping secrets~"

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    He heard her joke but he didn't feel humor anymore.  And she would see that.  The humor had died in him in his childhood.  What she would see was a hollow grin that was specifically for her.  For her to know that he wasn't going to not react, and would do at least something for her.  When she spoke about the manner in which they interacted he replied with:

    "And why should I seek friends?  My aim is to dominate everything and everyone.  To make friends this way is to create weaknesses.  I need warriors, cold strong and cunning.  I need people who are able to stomach who I truly am so we can reach the end game.  Why should I care about these weaklings?  These people who run around like there is no care in the world.  Who waste their lives so willingly.  Who give themselves over to temptation and corruption and death so easily?  It is these same people who commit suicide because they aren't strong enough to realize how lucky they have it.  And the rest of them?  Just pretend no one is hurting or dying around them.  Why should I give a d**n about them?  No.  They are only resources at that point.  The moment they chose to waste their life, they became nothing.  There is no reason I should care.  There is no reason I should befriend them."
