  1. (OOC: Apologies for the overdue post)

The sun's light slowly grew brighter and warmer as clouds moved and time passed in the Town of Beginnings, shining down on the trio as they continued conversing. Hearing the words as they came from Atzo's mouth, Damien turned to the sky. He didn't quite know what to say in response to the player. Damien knew he was both fine and the complete opposite at the same time. The game was a messed up one, but within all honesty it was a great escape from the problems of the real world, just about what every player needed. No one was worried (like his father had been) if their business was going to become irrelevant, as players were always going to need new weapons and items with each new coming tier as they rose up the floating castle of Aincrad. No one had to worry about if they were going to be able to sustain a job, as each player had the opportunity to go out into the fields to make their own money (in the form of col) and living fighting monsters. The fear of death misguided players, though, as in the real world the fear of death always seemed to hide its self in mysterious places.

The real world was something that all these players were born into. As so, Damien figured they had (just as every other living human being out there) grown accustomed to these fears of death that lied in every corner, they had lived their whole lives in the scenario. The castle of Aincrad, though, players had not gotten the chance to grow used to the dangers of the place, and it was unlikely that, even if they were here for another twenty years, players would get used to that fear looming around the corner. Only those that faced the fear for what it was, rather than hiding or charging with a fearless attitude, could potentially beat the game. Beat Aincrad. Beat Cardinal. Beat... Kybaba.

Hearing both Atzo and Vale give their introductory speeches,  Damien thought over their names, juggling them in his head, but hardly anything came to his mind. He had never heard of either of names in Sword Art Online nor the real world.

The request to join them in the fields, though, was one that Damien felt he couldn't turn down. He didn't usually go out fighting with people, and the chances were he could allowed him to believe in the false illusion of security and protection in the fields of Aincrad. Of course, it wasn't all false armor, but the system, Cardinal, could send out whatever it wanted at the trio or any other party, for that matter. If it wanted them dead, the Cardinal would probably have its way. That was the way Damien felt it was, and there was nothing he could do about it.

Damien soon found himself being asked to answer a much simpler and easier question by Vale. "My name is Damien," He allowed himself a slight smile on his face as he finished his speaking. "And I would love to go out into the fields with you guys!" Although the words that were spoken by Damien did not seem like a very thorough response to all the questions he had just been previously asked, he felt it was just the right amount for the response on his end.

Heck, maybe I can even find some more materials for my soon to be tailor shop while out....

    @Atzo's turn

  2. Proposing an idea for a change to the current loot minimum monster HP and Damage guidelines!!!!

I was thinking, out of all the overhealth potions, skills, mods, etc. that increase HP, that HP should stay out of the loot minimum as that could be a player type of build. I propose it should be based off player level, to allow players to actually use overhealth potions without facing the major downfall of high increased damage of an opponent.

These are the same as what they would currently be if all players health was just their base level health, so nothing different than it currently is really.
    HPX * 10
    DMG: X * 4
(X = Level of the highest leveled player)

This would be equivalent to the current system if the players in question had no boosts to HP whatsoever.

So feel free to comment your opinions! :3

    EDIT(s):

@Hikoru No, no I will not jump off Aincrad. xP

  3. Quickly as he possibly could, Damien gathered himself and got to his feet, before the bear could manage to deal any more damage once more. Activating his Vertical Arc sword art again, Damien landed another decent hit on the monster. Take that, you old fur ball! Damien laughed at his own joke in his head, but then realized his mistake in that. It distracted him from the current fight, and the bear took that once again as its chance to strike. Another claw right now the side of the arm came to Damien, as he tried to block with his sword, <<Nighthawk>>, but he was just too late. Another painful feeling shot at Damien as he jerked his right arm back from the bear, quickly getting out of the close combat range once again. Ahhh.... This hurts. Damien's HP bar was appearing close to the orange zone, but he figured he would survive as the monsters HP bar had already fallen below that.

  4. Looking down, Damien had no idea that anyone was even there. Hearing someone ask if he was okay, Damien looked up slightly but then figured there was no way anyone would be asking him that. Who cared if Damien was okay. Finally looking up, Damien saw the purple haired girl looking at him with the red haired guy near him. They truly were talking to him. But why? Had he done something to make them talk to him? They didn't seem to be coming at him in a bad way, but still Damien was hesitant. I mean what am I even supposed to say? Damien realized he had been staring for about five seconds, which was much too long as the two, @Atzo and @Vale were probably just trying to figure out why the heck he hadn't responded yet. "Umm... Yeah, I'm fine. " Damien looked more deeply at the players. Neither of them were a player killer, which was good, but that should've been obvious to him as they were indeed in a safe zone. Not wanting to seem rude, Damien responded again: "Are you guys okay?" His face showed a rather odd expression, not quite the one he had intended on showing. His face showed a look of confusion, his head tilted slightly.

(OOC: This is what happens when I post this late, my posts become crap lol)

  5. Finishing the sword art with mastery of patience and calm (Mack lol), Damien dealt a good deal of damage. twenty points to be exact. But he had to keep on going, and keep concentrated on actually landing hits rather than missing and wasting his energy. He couldn't allow that to happen, him missing, because right now there was a decent chance that he could potentially be in danger at the moment by this bear. Dang, I'm sure the boss is significantly weaker than this. Didn't think being level eleven would bring this many higher-ish level monsters. But there is no way I am going to let this thing ki- Damien was then interrupted mid thought by the <<Angry Bear>>, dealing once again another good deal of damage, right into his leg, causing Damien to fall to wobble a little bit, lose his balance, and finally fall to the ground. Damn!

  6. He wasn't going to let the pain in his back stop him from finishing off the bear, however. Quickly, taking grasp of his sword, he ran back at the big ball of fur. Damien wasn't going to let himself be killed by an NPC creature, much less a bear creature. The whole reason he had come into this game was to see mythological creatures, and so far he had seen absolutely 0 of what he wanted to see. Although, Damien was considering travelling to floor seventeen soon to see some Greek mythology stuffs. Well, or so he believed that was the Greek myth floor. Turning his attention back to the bear, Damien told it something. "You are not even worth my time, floor two bear. You are just a quick obstacle that I will hurdle with swift mastery, ya here?" Damien activated his Vertical Arc sword art as he ran back at the bear.

  7. As he grabbed the sword with his right hand from the place it had slid away, Damien almost immediately flipped it backed into his dominant hand, his left hand. Looking down on his right arm, the cut it had previously gained from the scratch, the pain had completely faded and now the pain was in his left arm. Of course, the game didn't make it hurt that bad, but Damien could definitely feel it in sorts. Almost looking up too late, Damien was forced to dodge quickly out of the way from a charge attack from the bear, just nearly getting hit. His luck in dodging would go on no longer, though, as he soon took a large hit from the <<angry bear>>, another claw attack but this time to his back. "Ow! Maybe you can deal some damage." Damien eyed the bear, feeling the searing pain in his back.

  8. It wasn't long before the big ball of fur was clawing at a faster rate, though, requiring Damien to have to dip, dive, and dodge even swifter. He didn't quite want to leave the combat range, though, as to not give the creature any un-forseen advantage. Gripping his <<Nighthawk>> hard, Damien prepared his sword skill Vertical Arc once again, hoping to deal some massive number of damage to the big and brown fur ball. The black and white blade, however, failed to land any of the two hits on the creature as the monster came down on him with its huge claw, dealing a good deal of damage to Damien. The hit knocked him onto the ground, his sword sliding slightly further away from him. Right before the massive ball of fur could jump onto Damien and tackle him, though, he managed to escape and grab his sword, quickly turning back to the bear.

  9. OOC: BATTLE STARTED BEFORE PATCH

Damien went up with his sword to attack the monster with a basic slash for heaven's knows why, but was unable to complete the hit as the bear was too quick and dodged the attack. Dang! Damien quickly jumped back from the bear to avoid a swiping claw coming down on him. The claw barely missed him, if he hadn't sucked in his gut the blade would've struck. "You won't win." Damien spit at the ground, panting a bit already from his attacks. "I will never let you win. And no; Not you specifically, I mean Aincrad. I mean Cardinal. I mean Kyaba. I mean darkness. I mean dreams. You will never beat me, and I won't let you beat anyone of my friends!" Damien then dodged another swipe from the claw of the bear, this time getting away from the attack much safer than the close time before. Ugh...

  10. +4 Materials, +3270 Col To be updated at end of RP

Listening to Mack's brilliant advice, Damien  eventually got to see him land a pretty amazing hit on the boars. Finishing them off, Damien watched as the loot menu popped up. Wow... That is a lot of col... And expHe held a surprised look on his face as he looked up at Mack. At his level, the amount of col was probably nothing. The bear, still on top of Damien's shoulders, had strangely not done much in comparison to it's crazy self previously asking Damien for food. "Hey, Mack... Thanks for the tips. I feel like those were some of the things I just really needed to hear, so I could actually hit in battle." And Damien would go on to use patience and calmness, as well as concentration, to his advantage in the future with monster battles. Damien looked at his sword, feeling like a small portion of his energy had been used in the fight. @Mack

  11. Damien listened in to the Vice Commander, @Mack's, advice. He certainly hoped it would help him. Okay, I can't rush it this time. I gotta get it right. Mack then attacked the boar with a very strong sword skill, bringing all of them down into the red area of the health point bar. Alrighty, this is my only shot before me and - errrrrr, I mean just Mack - finishes it off, so I gotta land a good hit. Damien held his sword back and took a deep breath, as it turned into a light pink color once more. Carefully, Damien came back into the close combat area with the boars and he hoped to land a good hit.

As the sword dealt its series of four quick hits, Damien quickly stepped back as he watched the boar's HP drop further into the red zone. "That is a little more like it!" Damien smiled and backed away quickly, as to allow room for Mack to attack.

  12. Catching the bear by surprise, Damien charged up and activated his sword skill Vertical Arc. The glowing pink sword made two quick slashes, Damien be guided by the system as he ran through the sword skill. It dealt a decent amount of damage, but the creature definitely seemed to have more HP than most creatures on the floor. The bear gave a loud roar and turned around to Damien, having no idea what had hit him until he finally saw the newly-died hair of the blue haired player. "Heyo! Please do me a favor for me in the future. Don't mess with the wind bees and wasps, okay? That should be reserved for me." Damien smiled, gripping his blade tighter. Still in close range, Damien responded back to the bears loud roar. "Good bye. " His sword began to glow pink as he went up at the monster. I got this.... You won't beat me...

  13. Before Damien could once again be indecisive and pull the crystal back out, he was stopped by looking back at the heads up display that held the map. Damien was almost to the location of the said boss, the <<Wind Wasp Queen>>.  But it was odd, Damien had not seen a single <<Wind Wasp>> yet. Oh well, guess I'll get the quest done faster this way. But then Damien discovered what the issue may have been, what may have scared away these bee-looking <<Wind Wasps>>. (Definitely looked like bees) There was a bear not too far in front of Damien on the path he was following. Heh, the bear been stealing your honey, bees? Damien prepared his sword, took a deep breath, and charged into a situation where he had no idea what could possibly happen. The stats of the bear were completely unknown to Damien, but he wasn't too worried.

  14. Damien opened his inventory menu from his heads up display with his right hand (which was the one not holding anything) and pulled out the recording crystal that held the song. He debated whether he really wanted to use it yet or not, maybe save it for a day when he was really upset. But they weren't that expensive.... No matter. Damien put the crystal back in his inventory, coming to his senses and realizing that a song could potentially distract him from some potential threats in the area and that would not be good. Well, Damien didn't define the possibility of being mauled by an NPC bear a good thing, and he didn't know who would. As Damien walked, he began to whistle to the tune of the song he was going to play, Time of your Life, but he didn't remember it in it's entirety. Maybe he should've just used the crystal?

  15. But as Damien walked, his <<Nighthawk>> in his left hand, he happened to find another <<Cotton Plant>>, providing him with another cotton material. Awesome. This is gonna help a ton when I finally become a tailor, When I finally do.... Damien smiled, thinking about the possibilities the game held for crafting based professions and the like. He had only physically visited one player-shop up to this point, and that happened to be a player named Itzal's. It was a performers shop, where Damien went to buy several lullaby debuff songs to ensure he could hit his target and a song with not much of a benefit. The song was from a rather old-ish band, known by Green Day. The song was called Time of Your Life. It didn't bring any special enhancements to anyone, but Damien felt like at some point in time songs of that sort would come in handy. When you really need music in your life.

  16. Damien continued walking, wishing in a way that he could feel as free as all the other creatures did around him. He had to keep reminding himself that these creatures weren't real though; They were not really free, and nor would they ever be from their inevitable NPC status. It was a sad fact, but of course they weren't sad about it. They didn't even know about it to be honest. They did not have feelings. They did not have the capability of anything near the human brain, or that of any animal. Maybe even plants had more knowledge then them, whose to say. Maybe in their world, the players were the evil ones. The play- Damien stopped in the middle of his thought process. He had to remember that they didn't even have a mind to think about it. It was like the formics from the very old book, Ender's Game if he remembered correctly. Controlled by one queen - and this case - Cardinal.

  17. Walking down the path, Damien's mind began to wonder deep into thought. About what Kyaba's thought process must've been as he went through the creation of the game. The type of people who bought the game. And surely someone helped him make the game - employees of the company Argus, was it? But what must they be thinking right now.. And heck, are some of them actually in the game ?!? It didn't make much of a difference to Damien in all honesty, though. He just longed for a reason, as all other humans naturally do for anything else. That is why religions exist, at least or so he thought. He wasn't a religious man, Damien was rather an atheist, but he preferred to keep it to himself. Looking around, Damien saw creatures of all sorts in the distance. In the far trees, small deer could be made out. In the air, flying creatures of all sorts could be seen, at a distance. Some looked like birds, while others held distinct features that would make one classify them as a draconian of some sort.

  18. Damien sighed, his blue hair in the wind, as he took in the beautiful view from Urbus. There was no doubt of the beauty in the area, that was for sure. It could be very distracting to people though, could allow them to lose their concentration, which would leave people open to being attacked by monsters. And no one wanted that, unless they were a pretty pathetic and messed up player killer. Or maybe just some NPC villain, but... They weren't really 'people'. No matter how much he got into this game, Damien knew he was not going to let the game cloud his vision in that aspect and expect him to see them as real people. Because they weren't. Damien quickly made his way through the town and was out of their in minutes with the map to the boss mob on his heads up display. Eh, if I'm lucky, it will give me some decent treasure. I hope.

Damien walked the streets of the Town of Beginnings slowly and casually. It was starting to became a daily routine, his walk. It was not something he preferred to do, that was for sure, but it allowed him simple time to think. Sometimes he would go running throughout the town, but not so much as he would in the real world. Damien missed the real world, his routine there was his run to the museum and around the Japanese parks. It truly was beautiful. Here; there was beauty. Even more so then in the real world in cases. This beauty was drowned out by the fear and danger of players, the unmistakable and undoubted and inevitable fear. It was what kept Damien, at his current level, from running out too often into the fields. The danger kept him inside the borders of the Town of Beginnings, where not much could harm him. But he longed to run, he longed to be free again. Damien sighed and looked down at the ground as he continued walking, his new blue hair color shining from the sun's bright noon glow. Oh, the beauty... So sad it has to be drowned out so much.

But Mack appeared to see things differently then what Damien saw. Dude, I just want this quest over already.... I don't want this bear on my shoulder, I don't want to have some front-liner show me up, But I guess.... I could turn this into some valuable learning experience. Damien readied his black and white blade, <<Nighthawk>>, and prepared his sword skill Vertical Square. the sword skill was one that could deal damage in a wide area of effect, so it would be good for the situation in the battle against four boars. He steadied his blade, resting it slightly on his shoulder as he waited for the right moment. As soon as Damien felt the moment come on, he ran up at the boars attempting a four slash combo. One. Two. Three. Four. His hits could not find their mark though, sadly.  Damien found this had happened a lot recently, as if his Thunder Ring wasn't actually increasing his accuracy yet decreasing it or something. Quickly, Damien stepped out of combat range and left the boars to Mack, as he had said. Speaking to himself quiet enough in which it was not clear to Mack what he was saying but he could be heard, Damien sighed. "Every time, every time. Why do I even try?"

The bear seemed to become rather excited upon seeing the treeline, as if expecting some type of food from their as it gestured towards the area. It made Damien smile, but he still had no idea why the front liner wasn't talking much. Before Damien could actually start up a conversation with the vice commander, however, the boars came. They seemed to have a stronger... feeling to it, from Damien's point of view. They couldn't of been typical floor one boars. But, Damien figured it was just one with more health drawn by @Mack's higher level. Preparing his sword, Damien almost charged at it with his Snake Bite skill before being stopped by Mack. Okay, so I'll just wait for him to land a hit or two... The vice commander dealt a large amount of damage to the boar, and Damien merely watched as it's health bar decreased. "Ummm... I'll just let you finish it off and I'll try to learn from your impressive moves." Damien laughed a bit at his honest uselessness.

  22. Damien was not expecting anyone to go with him on the quest by any means, and he was most definitely not expecting what did unfold. The second in command's little bear cub that went by the name of Chewie quickly ran up Damien's body, sitting on his shoulders. Oh great, I hope he isn't expecting me to collect more food for him.... Ugh. "Oh?" Damien wanted to think of an excuse for why the bear and the front-liner couldn't come with him, but Damien had no idea whatsoever. "Okay then, might as well get going." Simply repeating, in a way, what @Mack had said. Damien began to walk out of the gate, finally. Okay, as soon as I am done with this I'll be able to craft myself some much needed clothing/armor. Damien couldn't say that he necessarily disliked having the bear on his shoulders, because he didn't dislike it. He actually rather enjoyed it for some very in-particular reason. "Enjoying the view from up there?" He laughed a bit. Even though the bear cub could not physically speak his language back to him, Damien found it a lot easier to speak to Chewie rather than the strong and untalkative seeming front-liner.

  23. But now, now that the battle was over, the conversation of the guild could be stalled no longer. The large smile of relief from the fight slowly disappeared for a moment as Damien faded into thought. His mind was all at once flooded with thoughts from the old guild, and he simply had no idea what to say in the matter. He, of course, did not want to become close to too many people and have to live with their deaths, knowing he could have done something to help them. But the time had come, and Damien needed to say something or @Hydra would probably ask another question, as to what he was thinking about. "Yeah, ummm...." Damien took a deep breath, as his breathing had still been rather quick from the fast pace of the fight. Watching as Hydra pulled out the sigil, Damien saw flashes in his head of the old guild's sigil. The one he had declined to join in the beginning of the game. But maybe - Maybe it was that they had died because, opposite to what Damien had thought, because he hadn't joined. But even so..... A few small tears fell from Damien's eyes, as he looked at the sigil, his mind still flooding with the emotions.

"I.....I..." Damien had trouble making words come out of his mouth, as he didn't even know which words would even come out. But, he had to say something. He had to make the choice now, and to see what the outcome of it would become. If Damien chose either, he knew undoubtedly he would find the downfalls of the one he chose. But, he also knew, that he would never truly know the advantages of the other routes. Fight solo, and die alone if he was to lose in battle. Fight with a guild, with people relying on you, and, let other people fall due to your mistakes. Or don't make a mistake, and all is well in joy.

Damien wiped his eyes a bit with his right hand, and then set his dominant hand(left) into Hydra's right palm, where the crest lied. Then, the slightly emotionally wrecked Damien shook his hand, rather slowly. "I... I will..." Damien felt he had made the wrong choice in his mind, but knew there were some things he couldn't do alone. I..... What have I done.... But there was no turning back now. He had only one choice. And that is, that I cannot let them down. No matter what. No matter what it takes, I won't let that come to be. Damien wiped a few final tears off of his eye with his right hand once more, and smiled at Hydra. His eyes were still a bit watery, but he was beginning to get over it. "So what's the plan?"
