Atzo

Atzo was chilling out on Floor one when he heard a familiar voice. He jumped out of his tree and landed expertly. He was a good distance from the group but that wouldn’t be that big deal. Atzo walked like a train. Covered by his Cloak and with his Jian gleaming in the sunlight. He swiftly snuck up behind Hydra, and with a playful smile he held the Jian to Hydra’s neck. His face was a mix of dominance and playfulness “Who were these kids? Who could he control? Who could be his Pawn?” Were the things that went through his head. He was an expert manipulator. “How’s it going, Ol’ Pal?” he said with a laugh as he pulled the Jian away from Hydra’s neck and sheathed it. “Oh, and who are your friends?” He looked the group of players up and down analyzing them, their armour, their movements. Taking careful note of each observation as it seemed that one was potentially tormenting his ‘Friend’.

Atzo shrugged as the two of them reached the Treant settlement. “We can worry about that later. Right now we need to figure out what we need to do.” He said, attempting to change the subject. He hated how much guilt he felt, but then again it was just for him to feel it. The village had clearly been though a lot. It was almost sad to see so many treants beaten and injured. Walking to the Town Hall, they saw the commander. He thanked the two for their willingness to help as Atzo accepted the quest. “Alright, lets kill us some elves” He said to Shield before walking into the forest. It wouldn’t be hard with Shields help, but truth be told Atzo was not completely sure of anything at this point, he had seen bosses go down in a single hit and monsters last hours.

Dominion really was confident. The man was acting like this was no sweat when in all actuality this was much more than your average game. Atzo attempted to attack again but seemed to waist his attack. He was running out of Energy, fast. “Hey I may need to let you take over for a little while while I regain stamina. I won't be leaving combat just recharging” he stepped back and readied himself to recharge. He had forgotten just how low his energy was in the midst of combat. Not to mention that if he was the one doing the most damage. He couldn’t just let his energy fail, It might even make him faint in his state. What more could he do though? He would just have to be a cheerleader for a little bit it seemed. “So, Dominion, What is it that cause you to be so eternally happy?”

Atzo heard about this a while ago, Floor Four, Snow man, Kill it. The usual. He was curious as to how Beat was while outside of Shields. So, seeing that there was nothing to stop him he had called Beat to the fourth floor. Atzo was in the tavern, it was where he best met with people. He had a glass of Wine in his hand as per his usual drink. It was a glass of white wine, he much prefered white wine to red wine, the flavor was better in his mind. There were a lot of people here today, he wondered why but didn't much care to think about it too hard. How much different is Beat when Shield isn’t around? Was the first though to cross his mind. It seemed that Beat was well upbeat. It was nice to see that he was able to be so chipper, but would he be the same way? And what stories did he have to tell?

Atzo knew that Dominion was right behind him and was thankful for the health. It was pretty much all that was keeping him sane right now. He wasn’t sure why he was doing so poorly but he wanted to finish this off as soon as possible. What would be the best way to do that? If they both attacked then they may be able to do it. He looked to Dominion. “Get ready to heal but attack if you can, let's try to knock this out before dinner. Sound good to you?” How long had they been fighting? It seemed like forever but he wasn’t sure how long it had actually been. If nothing else he hopped that they could at least annihilate it here and now. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea… looking for trouble while he was such a low level. Still he wanted to be the one to finish this battle. What did he have to lose? His life was already gone, all this could take was his will. Something he hoped would stick with him longer.

Atzo looked confused at Shield. “You, know Solomon? I have known him from long before this game” Atzo took a deep breath “Of the people I owe my life in the real world it's Ren and Solomon. Those two were always there for me. They were my family. Ren and I introduced Solomon to the western world when he was adopted by our neighbor. Solomon is the wisest person I know. Then.... Well… Then I made a stupid decision. Two actually. I insisted that he drive with his permit one night. He was hesitant but I forced him to. I have my license so I was the one that was primarily helping him learn how to drive while his father did other things. Then there was the car crash. We were both hospitalized. I was released the next day. I had broken a couple rips and my arm but I was okay. He… He was unconscious, had a major concussion. Ren and I wanted to help him out. Help him get his mind back so that he could be better fit to rejoin the real world. So we got him a nervegear. We brought him into this world of swords. Trapped him here. We didn't know this would happen but it was still our fault… My fault. Even Ren was unsure of this idea.” Atzo looked down “Then I saw just how much of a problem he had, I saw his lack of knowledge and couldn’t do anything. I want to help him regain his memories but I am not sure I can.”

Atzo was back in control, though everything that had happened so far weakened his will immensely. Thankfully Dominion healed him. That would let him regain some control. “Do that again if you can Dominion.” He said as he reared up and attacked the snake. The red glow was comforting. It showed him that he had control. He hit the snake, it wasn't as powerful a hit as he would have liked but he was still able to do some damage. It looked like they had gotten the snake's health into the yellow. Still he was unsure of their ability to fully kill it. Looking to Dominion he hoped that there was something that could be done to increase their odds but doubted that there would be. Still they had to keep trying, if not they would not be able to push on. It was going to be an uphill battle from here on out but if Dominion was confident then he would  attempt to be as well

Atzo thought about Shields answer. He definitely wasn’t wrong. They had only known each other for a short amount of time. And they barely knew anything about one another. Still, Shields calculated answer was potential proof of just how similar the two were. Atzo nodded when Shield mentioned Beat, “Him, and Dominion both.” He said with a light chuckle “Have you happened to party with Dominion yet? When I did he proved useful but at the same time he seemed to not understand much of the culture he is in… then again neither does solomon and I have helped him in the past…” Atzo trailed off as he words became more personal and thought-like. He looked at the massive forest, there was no doubt a war going on. Not too far in you could see trees knocked over. It was clear that this fight was big, the question was them where the combatants powerful?

Atzo listened as Shield insisted that instead of helping Shield directly he needs to help new players. He was doing his best and hoped it was enough. Shield accepted Atzo’s offer of a question. “Would… Would you consider us friends, Shield?” He had a hint of sadness in his voice as he spoke but it was mostly masked by his monotone combat voice that he had adopted for some strange reason. “I am just wondering because I have never really had anyone to call a friend before and I was wondering if this is was it was like to have a friend” He looked to shield with curiosity. It was clear that Atzo was honestly unsure of what friends were. Though there was some amount of hope in his look. They continued to walk slowly finally leaving the safezone and turning to the forest where the war was going on.

Atzo looked at Shepard and thought for a moment. “I have Been to floor 16 on a quest but I have never really traveled above floor 2 for an extended period of time.” He said  “And, No I have not heard of ‘Juni’ is that her first name or her username? Because if she has a different username then I may know of her…” He kept walking. He payed no attention to how fast Shepard walked but Atzo knew he could walk three miles an hour with half of his own weight on his back. And he didn't have anything but his leather coat and Misguidance on him at the moment so he may have been walking even faster than that. Suddenly he heard a noise. A boar was wondering out across the way, “Hey, I am going to try to take that out. You stay behind me and let me pull its aggro for a few turns. After that feel free to attack just watch your aggro.” Atzo took off toward the boar Misguidance’s perfect mirror reflecting the sunlight against the trees intensely. He had been eager to try his new equipment. And what better way to do that then to kill something.

Atzo nodded, “Sounds like a plan to me, I have been meaning to contribute some too our encounters.” He watched as Shield gave Misguidance back. “It is odd, but i feel like it suits me. I am The Man of Many Faces, seeing my inner demons help me normalize my fears and try to move past them.” He looked to Shield and smirked in his normal way. “Thank you, by the way, I really do appreciate all you have done to help me. I know that you say I don’t have to repay you but I’m telling you that I will one of these days” There was ambition in Atzo’s eyes and sincerity which was new to him. Normally he was very calm and mellow but today there was a flame underneath him. He got up and motioned for Shield to join him. “Hey, Shield... I have an honest question.”

Atzo dawned his dingy leather coat, it was good enough to suffice for now but it was by no means going to save him in the long run. “Alright, I will attempt to pull them out. Just be ready to provide me with cover.” This was going to be interesting no doubt about that. What did Atzo want out of this? He almost felt like he would try to prove himself here. It would be a stretch for him to kill anything but he did happen to excel in stealth… If only he had actually added SP to stealth. He shrugged to himself. “Just prepare yourself while I try to map out the area.” Atzo said as they approached the fortress it was no wonder that the group of bandits were hard to kill. “If I climb the walls then I may be able to get a better angle” Atzo though, Surely he would be alright. Once they got there Atzo pooled up his strength and attempted to climb the wall without making sound. The wall was way too steep to be climbed. Not to mention that the two warriors were talking too close and were heard by the Bandits. They could be heard running to see who was talking.

Atzo nodded, “Yeah I am good to go.” The two began walking out of the safezone. It was noon, and the sun blazed down. “So, Hydra, What's the plan? All at once or one at a time?” He was ready for either, or at least he hoped he was. There was a doubt in his mind but it seemed like the poison that Hydra had drenched his sword in would be enough to kill them. “This man is strangely chipper, every time I meet him he has a smile on his face” Atzo thought “I wonder what causes it” he was still unsure of what it meant to be happy, He thought he had tasted it with Shield but was not completely sure that is what it felt like. It was interesting though to see just how people reacted to kindness. These people we so humble. They never took advantage of kindness and never stabbed each other in the back. It was wonderful to see indeed.

Atzo and Shield had been discussing taking this quest for a while, Though it scared Atzo to death to attempt it. He sat on a boulder in the middle of the town, He was horribly unprepared for this, He had no armour, but his weapon was pretty good. He would have to wait and see if he could be of any use to Shield and whoever he was bringing along. He knew he would probably just get in the way but at the same time he wanted to help if he could. He felt like he owed Shield his success thus far, and he wasn’t wrong. He looked around, wondering if he was really capable of going through with this. Taking out Misguidance he stared deep into it. The glass swirled for a moment and he could see his father in the background scolding him. He shook his head, what was he thinking coming here? He wouldn’t be able to help.

Atzo entered the Blacksmith shop, It had been a while but he needed to do that quest. “Hey, So what did you need me to do?” He asked the blacksmith. The old man responded with that he needed Atzo to pick up some rare materials. Seemed simple enough. He Accepted the quest and left the workshop. “This was going to be fairly easy, I may even get some material hunting in.” He thought to himself. He was sure that he could complete this quest in a day, Unlike the last one which took him much longer than he had hoped. The sun was high in the sky and the pavement underneath him turned to dirt. The air was clear, it was nice to breath it in. Who knew what would happen today? It was sure to be the best time to fight and an easy battle at that, he was positive.
 

Atzo walked his his normal relaxed style. Seeing the familiar face of Hydra sitting on a rock, Atzo smirked. “You ready for this? I hate to say it but I am going to be horrible under prepared for it. Though, this might help” Atzo takes a potion out of his inventory and drinks it. It was sour, and distasteful. But he knew that he would be thankful in the long run. “I really need to do those other tutorial quests” He thought to himself “Maybe I will do that next.” he looked to Hydra “That should help me do a bit more in combat, however I apologize if I don't provide as well as you expected.” He looked to the edge of the safezone, This was floor nine, there was no way he would get far right? If Hydra didn't come though in attacks then Atzo would surely perish. He just hoped it wouldn’t come down to more than just swinging and hope you hit.

Atzo was surprised that she had accepted both, It was interesting how she responded but he didn't care at that point. As soon as the two had entered the sight of the Boat it had slammed him. It’s force was enough to put him on his butt. Luckily it was so low leveled that Pain wasn’t really a factor yet. He watched as the Boar reared back up, realizing that he had lost his attack when he got back up. “Miss Mephistophe, be careful. Your next hit may make you a target.” He said when he noted he truly lost his attack. She was back to full health which was definitely good, but that wouldn’t last long if he couldn’t pull aggro. His mind raced as he watched the boar move. He had fought so many boars by now and yet each one was slightly different. It was as if the boars were emulating real life in that not every organism is the same even if they are similar or of the same species.

Atzo chuckled when Shield said ‘Long time no see’. It had been what? Five days? Atzo was strangely chipper today. Maybe it was the buzzing alcohol or maybe there was something else on his mind. “Something like that” He said to Shield, a smile on his face. “I hope you are alright with taking the side of the Treants on this, I have always hated elves.” he looked at Shield before remembering the Misguidance, his sword. He pulled it out and handed it to Shield. “I don't think you had a chance to properly look at the blade when we got it. I have spent some time studying it, as I do everything, and have found something very interesting” As Shield takes the sword the mirrored blade shimmers slightly. Looking into it Shield begins to see some of his inner demons manifested. Atzo takes a sip of his wine, avoiding eye contact with the blade. He wanted to allow Shield to have his privacy, though he knew that even if he tried to look into it he would just see his own demons once again.

Atzo listened to the Cat girl, Maybe there was more in common between them than even he has suspected. She spoke of how she could be someone and something that she wasn't in the real world. It was like how he was. He felt something nagging him though, something that she said "In this world though, we don't have to be who we were out there. We get to be who we want to be in here” He had to think about that for a moment, who DID he want to be? “Yeah, let's go find another thing to kill.” Atzo said with a small smile. “Actually, Madam, I do think I have an idea as to what to ask of you. I will give you two more options. One would be to join me on a quest, I will protect you and all you really need to do is keep me company, or, seeing that you mentioned me taking you to drinks, I would appreciate it if you would go on a date with me. Something small, like a picnic or dinner.” Atzo’s face showed that he was sure of these options. He knew that most of what this girl was doing was probably just her playing him, but he also enjoyed her company regardless as to how others thought of her. He then stood up and jumped off the rock and readied his weapon.

It was a curious question that Beat had asked Shield. And an even more curious answer given. “Were they really not ready for front lines?” he thought in reference to the two warriors that were standing before him “Just how powerful are the front lines?” He looked at the two war partners, and nodded to them heading back to the safezone. “Thank you two very much for the help. It was… Nice to have someone to call on to help me.” Atzo said sheepishly, he wasn’t used to calling people to help him, even Ren was a rare person for Atzo to call upon. And Ren was Atzo’s brother. Was this what it was like having friends? Being able to call upon someone in your time of need and be assured that they would come? He wasn’t completely sure but he hoped that was what it is like. He opened his friend list and added Beat to it. “I may not be strong but if you two need anything in the future, even if it is just a travel buddy, feel free to give me shout. I still need to pay you back” He said with a smile as the two warriors walked to the teleporter. “I should grab a drink before I go” He thought walking to the tavern. For once, Atzo had a very good day.

Atzo climbed the rock along with her. He looked over the land, “You aren’t wrong, there are certainly a lot of them.” he said as he watched the Boars roam, suddenly the cat girl asked him a question that he had not considered thus far. “How AM I enjoying the life here?” he thought to himself then a different thought crossed his mind “Is this how @Shield feels when I ask him questions?” He turned toward the cat girl who was now doing a handstand. “Please don’t fall, I don’t think I could catch you if you fell off.” was the first thing he said, he had an amount of concern, but it was soon replaced by a tone of reminiscence. “I actually really do like it here. I have been able to find more people who are nice to me here than I did in the real world. I didn't have a great life growing up and this is kind of my second chance. Unfortunately I can't seem to act as a better person. It pains me to think that my past has shaped me into the monster that I am but it's not anything I can seem to run away from.” With that he sat down.

Atzo was watching the boar and the kitten go at it. Suddenly the two exchanged blows, the Boar’s attack was much more powerful than he expected. He felt something new, the urge to protect someone. He felt a portion of rage being triggered, Adjusting his footing he felt the familiar feeling of an activated Sword Art. His blade began to glow blood red and he swung at the boar. Its health bar dropped to zero and the boar shattered into pieces. “What has gotten into me?” he asked himself “You had no reason to act so rashly!” He scolded himself with intent. He took a deep breath before looking to the cat girl. “Here, it's not much, but it should help you.” He opened his inventory, pulled out three portions and gave them to her. “They are health potions. Use them carefully. I only have two left and would rather not have to use them all here.”

Something was moving, What was it? Atzo couldn't tell. He was fighting for control. Suddenly the pain subsided. There was still the existing pain of the sand but there was no new pain. He was able to breach the surface of his consciousness. He looked to Dominion, “I hope he is okay” then he looked back to the snake. “Hey, Dominion!” Atzo Shouted “I am going to try to go all in, do you think you can heal me while I do that?” He didn't think he could take many hits from the beast, He had a health potion left though and he may be able to do some real damage to it. He went in to strike without waiting for a response seeing that Dominion still had proper Aggro. If nothing else Dominion had given Atzo a far about of attacks before having to fall back. He just hoped that he could kill it.
