She looked at the man that was about to accept the quest as well and she nodded. He did have a point, right now, any little bit would help. It was more just attempting to get her courage out of whatever hole it decided to run away to. That was the hard part currently. But that wasn't going to stop her. She didn't even want to think of how the Assault Teams were. Those numbers were probably going to scare her right now into not wanting to do this. But at the same time, perhaps it would boost her confidence in gaming? She was happy though when he answered her question with not only a sure, but a party invite. That was going to save her the minor trouble of having to figure that out.

The Accept button came up and she quickly clicked it. He had said that his name was Koga, but she wondered why that sounded so interesting. Either way, she focused back on him then and smiled. "I'm Noctua," wait, didn't the party list show that? In fact it did and this made her blush a little bit. "I am so horrible at this. I apologize now. I haven't played anything like this at all before, and well, what a way to start." And this was when she waited for the party to be quickly disbanded. It was bound to happen, who would have the patience to party with someone who has literally never played an MMORPG beofre. But, not really wanting to give him the chance, she looked back at Zakariah. "Since you're the party lead, you have to start the quest for us right?"

    @Koga

  2. At least this woman didn't seem to be mad. At least, so she hoped. Ruby's words didn't seem to be filled with anger, but there was something there that Noctua just wasn't catching onto. But with that behind her, she smiled kindly. She didn't mind the compliments that she was being given, though there was the question of why was she even being complimented at the moment. That didn't seem like the kind of thing that she would run into while trying to find information. The thing that Noctua wasn't catching onto, was the flirting that Ruby was already doing. That seemed to just go right over her head.

"Oh wow, so the high floors are that crowded now. I feel like I am far behind now..." Her voice trailed off a bit at the end of her statement as she looked at her hands. Yeah, she had no idea what she had decided to get herself into, but she was going to work on getting stronger. Possibly even work on social interactions to get better at them. But when she noticed Ruby extend her hand, Noctua took it with a smile. "I am Noctua. I, um, just decided to try and fight. I just don't know what to expect." There was a small, yet sheepish smile on her face then as she admitted her fault of not knowing anything that she was about to get herself into.

She had just left her inn room with the intent of doing some starter quests today. She had to start somewhere, and since she has never exactly played any kind of game before, this was going to be golden for her. But there was still the fact that she didn't know what she was going to do if asked to actually do something. She kind of hoped that a detailed guide was going to be given to her, because that would be a wonderful thing to her. She had been told where to go to find Zakariah and the starter quests that he had. This was going to be a good start to keep her from being too bored. From feeling like she isn't doing anything to help, because let's face it, she hadn't been helping at all.

Just as she walked to Zakariah, someone else had as well. Apparently, this guy had the same thought that she had. She looked at Zakariah though when the NPC spoke and she shook her head. "I really hope these will help me survive." She looked at the other guy, he was possibly around her age, it was hard for her to judge anymore, since she wasn't sure that the avatars aged with them. But either way, they might as well do the quests together right? "Fancy a party member for these?" Here she was, a social recluse attempting to talk to someone and possibly become party members. But the ball was in his court, and Zakariah seemed to be waiting for an answer as well.

  4. Noctua was bored of just sitting in the inn room. She knew that she needed to get started, she just didn't know how at the moment. She didn't exactly have the courage to want to go out ad venture yet, so how about just walking around the town to meet some new people? That had to be doable right? The girl sighed lightly as she grabbed her bag and things and she left the room. She honestly didn't know what it was that she wanted to do really. She figured that getting supplies or just listening to others talk about what it is to expect would be a good start. Noctua walked outside to be greeted by sunlight. Oh how she was starting to miss anything but sunlight. Rain did happen in the Town of Beginnings, but not as often as she liked really.

Noctua looked around and attempted to find the first thing that she wanted to do. She didn't plan on going out of the town just yet, so perhaps just finding someone to talk to would be the best start for today. Her long brown hair bounced behind her as she moved through the crowd of NPCs and Players. Most of the people she bumped into as she walked were NPCs, that was okay to her. But the moment she ran into someone with a player symbol above their head, she quickly turned around and looked at the person. "I am so sorry! I think I got too used to bumping into the NPCs."

    HISTORY

    Spoiler

She wasn't born in France, but her family stayed close to their roots, even while living in the United States. Growing up, she was constantly moving around the states, this made things hard for her. She wanted to make friends, but couldn't because she was unable to stay long enough to do so. It seemed like each year, her family was packing up to move once more. This because such a habit, that by the time she was ten, she just refused to unpack. She knew that the home wasn't going to stay. So when she was fifteen and her parents moved to Japan, she didn't unpack for the first year that they were there. She was waiting for her family to be uprooted once more. She was waiting for things to be exactly how she knew that they were going to be.

During her time in Japan, she started to learn more about video games. Of course, she had heard of them and played them a little bit before hand, but she never got the chance to sit down and actually play, until she was sixteen and realized that her family wasn't going to move again. After a while, she heard about the VRMMORPG game, Sword Art Online, that was in development. In a few years, it would be able to be beta tested. She did sign up for it, but ultimately didn't make the cut, so she had to wait to be able to play it like most of the others who wanted to try it early. She didn't mind the wait though, it just meant that she wouldn't have to deal with all of the bugs.

So when it was finally launched when she was nineteen, she bought her copy and her gear and joined the game. This was an escape from having to find something to do with her life for the moment. Her parents wanted her to go to college after all and she just didn't know what she wanted to do yet. So she figured that she could run away to figure it out. So, into the game she went. Everything seemed to be fine for the first few hours, but right about the time she was starting to get tired and wanted to sleep, she figured out that she couldn't log out. The moment she realized that, she was teleported to the center of the starting town, and then the Game Master spoke and all was revealed.

Unlike some of the others, she was able to stay calm. This was a benefit to her, but she had to figure out what to do. She didn't want to chance dying, so she mainly just stayed on the first floor in the main town. She did odd and end quests to gain herself some col to be able to eat and have an inn room to sleep in for the night. But now, it's been two years, and she is getting bored. She wants to get out of the game and perhaps even go and join college. But there was one problem, there is no way out of the game at the moment. So, she is now attempting to kill things to level up, to get stronger, and one day help save everyone from this game.

     THE STORY SO FAR

    Spoiler

    Act 1

    Spoiler

Her first day out and about that she actually paid attention to things, she met a front lines player named Ruby. They mainly talked, but a little later, she learned that Ruby had died, Noctua just hasn't delved into how or why. But this was offset with the meeting of new friends as well. The first would be Koga, who she met doing the first lesson of the game. He is an experienced player, and here he was escorting Noctua around trying to help her. She almost got him killed, and would have left if he wouldn't have wanted her to stay. From there, their relationship has only grown to be where it is now, them dating.

Then there is Yukiro. Her first meeting with him when she was still level one, involved him leaving her to attempt to fight two boars alone, while he attempted to sleep on a hill. Yay, her. She has soon forgiven him and likes to call him a friend. She met NIGHT in a tavern one day after hunting with Koga, and they both seem to get along fairly well at least. But it was the arrival of Koga's younger sister, Tala, the made her first enemy. She doesn't know why the girl hates Noctua, but she does, and this does worry Noctua. She just doesn't know how to express it to Koga without seeming...she doesn't know the term.

But then, it all went down hill. Things had been going so well, she and Koga had confessed their feelings. But, Tala didn't approve apparently, for she hired some guy to tell lies about Noctua in front of Koga. This caused a rift, and made it to where Noctua told him goodbye, and thanks for the fake love. But, they had made up, things seemed to go fine. She saved him, Tala, and Yukiro from death.

    Act 2

    Spoiler

After all the time that she spent planning her and Koga's wedding, there was still one thing that kept going through her mind. Did he trust her? She didn't know, and in return, it made her feel like she couldn't go through with the wedding, at that time at least. So, she left a note for Koga, stating that she was just going to think and that she'd be back. What she didn't know was that Tala had stolen the note, and when Noctua had disabled event notifications while she had been planning her wedding, it got rid of her date and time settings as well. The next thing that she knew, a year had passed, and when she saw Koga again, he wasn't happy. He had thought her dead, everyone did apparently. That wasn't good, but what hurt the most was him not believing her and then telling her not to worry about him. It looked almost as if the Koga that she had fallen for was gone. She didn't sleep for days after that and collapsed in the middle of the fields on the seventeenth floor, where Koga found her and forced her to go to sleep in an inn, only for her to wake up and see that he was gone. If it hadn't been for the note, her necklace, and her engagement ring, she would have thought him to be another hallucination that her broken psyche had been showing her before.

But now, now she's determined to show that she doesn't need him, or anyone for that matter. She thinks that she's better off alone, and that is how she wants to stay, or is it?

    VIRTUES&FLAWS

    Spoiler

    Virtues

Calm: Even in the midst of danger or chaos, she is able to stay calm and keep a level head. This is something that she wishes she could be able to project to others, but cannot. Instead, she will talk in a calm and soothing voice during these times, hoping that the calmness that she shows is able to help others stay calm as well.

Loyal: When she makes a friend or joins a party, she will be loyal to them. She will help and do her job. If someone wants to stay in a party with her, she will do so, but she won't bug someone into staying if they want to go. Her loyalty will even go to her throwing her own life on the line to keep someone else safe.

Selfless: She thinks of everyone else first. She will give her items to someone who needs them more. She likes to make sure that her entire party or her friends can make it out of things alive. Her selfless nature will involve her jumping into the line of fire to keep someone who is weaker or more hurt than herself safe.

    Flaws

Sarcastic: Yes she is friendly, but with how she grew up, never having a set home, she learned to harm more with her words. She doesn't like to throw around her sarcastic nature, but there are times when it just naturally shows itself. She won't apologize for it if someone has deserved it, but if they didn't, then an apology might come, depending on who the person is.

Flighty: She doesn't mean to do it, but there will be moments when she might just disappear in the middle of the night. This stems from her not being able to make genuine connections over the years, so she actually gets scared when it does happen. She will be back, usually with a gift to apologize, but she might disappear for days on end before she can convince herself that it is safe to do so, or until she is found by the person she disappeared from.

Stubborn: There isn't a bone in her body that doesn't want to stick to the mindset that she has. It is hard for her to listen to directions that she doesn't agree with, which explains why she hasn't joined a guild. Her stubborn nature can have her sitting in a spot that is dangerous, just to prove that it isn't. If she gets hurt because of her stubborn nature, her pride won't let her admit that she was wrong about something.

Broken: After everything that has happened in the game, she doesn't feel like herself anymore. She feels like she is broken and that things aren't going well. She feels like she is changing, and not for the better. Furthermore, she feels like she is getting meaner, ruder, basically just the complete opposite of herself, and she doesn't know how to stop that, which just further breaks her psyche.

Quiet: Who needs to talk anymore? She can just silently be by someone's side and make sure that they don't die, right? Even if someone else was to tell her no, that is how she is going to stay now. She feels that she is better off alone, and the only true way to make sure that others know this, is by not talking to them.
