    It was with this chat that the nuisance finally found herself scouring Aincrad for more merchants. Somewhere up in Floor 22 was where one of her leads had taken her; a guild rumored to keep captive personnel at the pinnacle of their respective professions. Players, or NPCs? The rumor painted them as the latter, but one shuffle down a lane aside the stairway towards their main hall had brought her face to face with a rather... stern person.

    She set the heavy boxes ungracefully down all at once. When they'd clattered onto the floor (what was it, tatami mats?) Bistro swore the ground rumbled beneath her feet. And all she could offer the uncertified player was a brilliant smile.

    Oh. The overlords respawned?

    "Well, damn." Who knew doomsday would go so terribly?

    Bistro watched a few new sigils appear under the boss' health bars in the distance, pulling open an examination window to check. Well, so much for their debuffing plans. And she got roped into the fight while she was at it. Things were not going well for her this day.

    She hummed, before glancing back at the retreating crowd. Still numerous? The alchemist couldn't get home, then. What a bother. With a bow of her head and a fierce smile, she shot it towards the advancing players somehow lounging around the backline, but seemed ready to charge towards the bosses once again. "Performer's Crystal," she quickly informed the PKer, before raising two palms and stepping backwards towards the sidelines. "Sorry. I'll be out of your hair now."

    Time to remain discreet under the gaze of the supreme beings. Not that they were looking anywhere in Bistro's direction, of course, but neither was she keen on pushing her luck further, being in harm's vicinity.

    High school. To Bistro, they had seemed like such ancient memories by now. She'd wanted to laugh at Rei's complaining, for her sentiments was a sharp contrast to the broker's own; freedom was what she'd found once she'd gotten out of that hell hole, and perhaps she must've been coming from a place of privilege, having taken that stance for herself. Nonetheless, Bistro would wonder how life must've been for Rei out in the real world, to put her own hopes and future in such disarray.

    "What do I think is good in this world...?" That was an intriguing question. Though, picking apart the daily routine was something Bistro had yet to unpack for herself in a long time now. The prospect of it would prove to be a relaxing thought experiment. "Well, let's see..."

    Her eyes were glued to the red of her umbrella, the broker humming to fill up their silence. They were on a quest to find a familiar, weren't they? Just the thought of having some small critter in her home and tucked in her arms was enough to spark her interest.

    "Hey, which do you prefer, Rei? Cats, dogs? Or something else entirely...?"

    Here came the most invalid player of the fight, wielding absolutely nothing but a few crystals she'd taken from an empty shop. Some might've called it daylight robbery. Bistro called it 'Why're you so worried about it? The world is on fire, for pete's sake'.

    When she stepped onto the teleporter, the system was wishing it could handle her request. Instead of dropping her into the crowd of people, it'd decided to tag her into a much emptier spot in town, one where the players were still waning, but present.

    How disorienting, she cursed, before noticing and looking up towards the targeted figures in abject horror. Out of all of the doomsday materiel she could've come up with, this was not the sight she'd expected to find. Her face was contorted, plastered with a myriad of emotions... until she snapped back to reality, looking for a player of better repute and strength to tend to her calls.

    That group should do. Mari was a well known figure, but she'd taken off towards the boss in the speed of light. What about that kindly gentlemen over there instead? With a holler, she'd shouted over to them.

    "Hey!"

    When she'd finally caught their attention, Bistro tossed a crystal over to them, before popping one more in her hands. "Use that for me real quick, if you're not in a rush!"

    Hopefully, this would satisfy one of her clientele's calls.

    When the hour of judgement had descended upon them, Bistro was nowhere to be seen.

    Intriguingly, she'd been hiding out in one of the tower's higher floors. And it was at one of her client's calls that she would even bother to show up at the fight. But the message in her mail wasn't exactly a rally for novices to initiate combat.

    No. The only reason she would even toy with the idea of stepping foot into the Town of Beginnings this day was to run the army supplies. And this time, she would need some lullabies.

    Bistro showed up, but the shopkeeper of Magnolia wasn't present. A fighter, then? In the time of such duress, perhaps they might not know of a handful of missing crystals. But of course, the broker would leave her payment. There had to be some structure still in a lawless land, she decided.

    But this? She tossed the crystals around in her hands. This was a necessary evil.

    A part of Bistro had been wanting to challenge Rei's perspective on participating in combat in the game, but she knew better than to assume the worst of the woman's words. If it fit the warrior just fine, there was no reason to dredge up unintended misunderstandings. She watched her raise her head, continuing to muse on their disposition in Aincrad, and Bistro couldn't help but agree in the moment.

    "If you think about it that way. Then, I guess it really is, huh?"

    What was a light passing agreement at the time felt as though it should slip away and into the water that pooled at their feet. But it lingered on Bistro, falling into a harsher truth that only dawned on the player as their silence continued on, the two venturing forth deeper into the woods. The downpour showed no signs of relenting, and it lent the two some much needed noise and an unnecessary dreary ambiance. Bistro found herself getting lost in her own thoughts for a time, eyes kept to the rippling wet ground. 

    After a good minute had passed, she spoke, pulling her sights away from the floor. "You know, we've been talking about the darker points of life," Bistro pointed out, her occupied hand gesturing with uncurled fingers. "But we haven't talked about the brighter side of existence yet. What say you, Rei? Care to try talking about the things we like instead?"
