  2. Titan’s mind had only been focusing on a single thing and that was to prove to Mari that he was more than capable of taking on a fish that was much lower level than he was. His spear had been readied, footsteps against the giant fish pushed him up while he dodges the swordfish’s attack and let gravity pull him down as his weapon was aimed to pierce the beast right between the eyes. It all happened so quickly and with his mighty blade, Titan quickly sheathed his spear and dove right into the lake while the fish’s flesh seemed to land on top of the boat as the player swam to the side and peeked his head to look at his kill.

    “ Do you think that might earn me a few style points? ” He couldn’t help but tease as he hoisted himself back into the boat, the drips of water would seem dissipate as ‘Ol Pete looked eager and excited to get them back to shore. “ Mmm, I sure will be eating good tonight! ” The old fisherman said, a wide smile showcasing his excitement.

    “ So for a newbie, on a scale of 1 – 10, how’d you rate those battle tactics, Mari? ” He wasn’t expecting a perfect score but he sure was expecting a high rating for what he did.

  3. “ To be fair, I didn’t expect to hook it this quick. ” He attempted to yell over the sound of the waves slamming into the boat. Titan couldn’t help but roll his eyes over at Mari, what she said wasn’t untrue but he was at least expecting a little help like she did in the last quest (although, he really didn’t need the assistance.) “ Yeah, yeah, yeah. ” He waved her off and quickly equipped his terror’s reach before activating FURIOUS SPIKE on his spear, which sent him lunging into the air.

    It all happened so quickly, the spear having a mind of its own as the fish craftily aimed its nose directly at Titan’s armor and pierced through it causing him to lose a large chunk of health in an instant. “ Jeeze. ” His eyes widened while he noticed his health bar dropping, his own attack finally activating while he flipped in the air and landed a quick stab of his weapon at the perfect angle before he landed on the fish taking a second to get his balance, trying to ready a second attack before the beast could hit him again.

  4. In the Real World, Titan was quite the charmer and knew his way through practically any social scenario. It had been nice, despite being low level, despite being in a death game, to be reminded how powerful the gestures he relied on so heavily in life could still be despite how weak he was in comparison to Mari. In this moment, he had much more power than he would ever within the game’s system.

    His gaze rested against Mari for a second as her cheeks blushed scarlet, her own composure returning to herself as she made herself comfortable near the edge of the boat once again and casually rested herself near the edge with a hand skimming across the surface. “ We might be here a while. ” Titan teased, his own position shifted as he held the pole loosely waiting for a bite.

    And then it came, the jerk of the line against the water as Titan jumped to his feet and a tight grip. He fought against the beast, the majestic creature pulling hard against the pole as it pulled the boat into a much more chaotic path for a few minutes before the tank pulled while his entire might and brought the fish up into the air. “ Feel like hitting the fish? ” He asked in a frantic voice, his own weapons now being drawn in case Mari hadn’t wanted to help and secure the kill (a single flick of her  fingertip would probably be enough).

  5. Honestly, Titan hadn’t expected Shay to open herself up in this moment. He had a feeling the scar meant something but for her to expose herself in this manner, perhaps she had grown a lot more than she realized in their time a part. “ Well, that was fairly succinct. ” His face scrunched up in playful humor as he had begun to realize this was about a boy. Normally, Titan would’ve prodded a bit more but it felt too sensitive of a wound on his own end to poke at knowing very well that Shay could turn it around and remind Titan that he was simply a ghost, an afterthought of a man during his absence.

    “ Sounds like fate meant for all of this to play out then, huh. ” This had been the very first thought Titan had that had been positive, as though he had been willed away for a reprieve of sorts. The nepents began to pop themselves up around them, now they both were far stronger than the beasts around. “ You ready to continue like old times? ”  Titan offered his knuckles in solace, as though they had a hatchet to bury and a ladder of strength to ascend.

  6. “ I don’t know what to tell you, Shay. ” On one hand, he felt awful for what he did but on the other hand,  what he did deep down felt right and like the thing to do and so he was torn in his disastrous ways of vindication and letting down the handful of people he’d met, Shay probably being the most let down by his absence. After she shared how she felt, Titan couldn’t help but let the silence linger while they walked through the forest that would open up into the village where the Nepent, World Boss would be.

    Titan looked over at her, she was a shell of who she had been too. “ I’m sorry. ” He offered the weakest smile he could, still giving her space to process and breathe while the trees began to thin itself out and the village began to show itself against the horizon. “ What happened with me going though? And what’s that on your face? ” Obviously, a lot more happened than just Titan leaving.

  7. Titan couldn’t place his finger on it, but Mari’s presence felt like the south wind. A gentle, warm breeze that could whip up a Hurricane in a matter of moments if so desired. He could only hope to never truly see her wrath, the man was certain she’d be a maddened queen bee in the skies, ferocious and fiercer than she’d ever been.

    The next steps happened in a matter of moments, his moves were fluid enough to have Mari slide into the small of his back and luckily for her, his leather armor wasn’t plate mail and rattled her mind into a headache from the impact. “ You need to watch what you’re doing, Mari. ” He laughed, spinning for a second with his pointer finger gently finding itself against her chin so that he could ensure she hadn’t been bleeding.

    “ You’re our guild leader? ” His brows furrowed as he looked over to her, feigning shock as he pulled back and looked her over once more. “ I’m joking. I know you’re one of the pillars. ” The words meant to tease as he moved over to the edge of the boat and set up the fishing pole so that he could start trying to capture the sword fish for the quest. " I appreciate the vote of confidence but i'm certain i'll be on training wheels for a bit longer. "

  8. “ We’re in a game where if we die, we cease to exist. ” It was incredibly matter-of-fact and after months of trying to simply accept that as fact, it came off his tongue a lot smoother than he thought it would. “ You can’t blame yourself for not being optimal during a time where nothing seems right. Those front liners are freaking machines. ” They’d never admit it but Titan was certain they were crazy and probably thrived in a space just like this. “ This now feels like it’s more than just me. What are you even talking about? ” His words curve their way into a question lobbed towards Shay, her pivot in conversation was a bit too far in left field for Titan to try to catch onto.

    The promising tank shook his head and gestured out into the forest. “ Why don’t you help me with this quest first? And then we can do what you need to do. ” He suggested a break for her, his own demeanor lifted for a moment as though he was trying to put on a front. Who knows what exactly the glorious Titan had actually been feeling in these moments.

  9. Titan had almost forgotten the brazen attitude Shay had and simply scoffed at her answer of saying whatever she wanted while also seamlessly transitioning into the real issue at hand. He had simply ghosted everyone in Aincrad for the better part of the year. He wasn’t quite sure how to answer that but he hadn’t missed how she pulled something over her face and that it seemed like she was trying to hide something but he wouldn’t press, not quite yet.

    “ Maybe it’s that attitude of yours. ” The bite showcasing itself once more, his eyes narrowing in as his fingers held onto the hilt of his weapon as a precaution. “ Or the fact that I was overwhelmingly trying to figure out Aincrad and it lead me to a huge panic attack. ” Titan sighed, the heavy rise and fall of his shoulders were signal enough that it had been even harder and deeper than he was letting on. “ Sorry for disappearing, I wasn’t trying to leave everyone questioning where I went. I just, I needed to escape. ” He didn’t need Shay’s validation to make him feel better, but his core could maybe start healing when he heard those who he cared about forgiving him for his behavior.

    “ You look good though. ” He added on the compliment on purpose, a faux smile towards the girl as if a pretty smirk could be enough to undo the hurt of the past six months.

  10. Questing with Mari felt like breathing to the young man who still had been so new in getting invested in this death game. “ You’re excused. ” His quip was timely and with enough wit to hopefully keep Mari intrigued, entertained, and interested. “ Don’t get too excited now. I’ve been known to be quite the swimmer in my day. ” As carefully as he could, the young tank reached towards the water and attempted to get a nice splash of water over to the orange-crystal player who had been kind enough to join him on his venture.

    After the light teasing, Titan took a moment to gaze upon the waters of the first floor. For being a bunch of pixels, the environment felt so real that it was a bit frightening. He stood in the spot that Mari had left for him, the calm blues of the sea lulling them into a warped sense of reality. “ Buffs? No, I think I’m probably overleveled for this fight. I figure we can enjoy it a little bit and then I’ll reel in the fish. ” It seemed simple enough. “ This is my last intro quest to the world. How does it feel to know that I won’t be a noob anymore. Are you going to miss holding my hand through these quests? ”

    @Mari

  11. “ Don’t call me an idiot. ” His tone showcasing remnants of royalty long passed, the shell of who he was now after months of isolation and solitude had more doubt settle into the cracks that spread throughout a man shattered.  Titan pushed himself off the floor with haste, the cloak’s hood pulling itself back to unveil the blonde’s radiating streaks that somehow seemed faded, dimmer then they once were. It didn’t take too long, deep pools of Atlantic sea washed over the other’s form noticing the weapon, the aura and the demeanor of a friend ignored.

    Without skipping a beat, Titan took a closer look at the person he bumped into with such a brazen personality. “ Shay, is that you? ” He asked, already knowing the answer as his deepest fears began to manifest themselves into the Town of Beginnings. He only wished he could hide in these moments, be given a reprieve and time to settle back into the groove of Aincrad before having to face those who helped him before.

    For now? He’d have to pretend he was whole again. His parents did often say he was quite the actor.

  12. Quest: Secret Medicine of the Forest

    The Town of Beginnings looked the exact same same as a shrouded figure casually entered the North entrance, making his way into the very first residence in town. For those who knew, it was Titan's place but it hadn't been tended to since he left months ago. " Huh, it's exactly the same. " The tank mused as he noticed the pixels hadn't gathered to collect any dust, the place looking the exact same since the day he bought it. Despite how much town was untouched by time, everything couldn't feel different. He had a penchant for punishment, a glutton for guise and disappeared without a trace. No word to his friends list, his guild or even the frontliners who seemed to take an interest in helping to grow his budded tanking career. How could he look at any of them the same anymore? The typically swift and witty man on on side, his truer self loving breaks and escapes when things got too hectic. If this had been any other game, he would've deleted Titan and came back as a new character but death didn't quite feel like the answer.

    And so, after weeks of mustering up enough courage to return, Titan found his way back to his home readying himself to continue the climb and perhaps awkward conversations with a handful of players. He felt fairly safe on the first floor though, his hand resting on his one handed spear while turning the corner from his home and heading towards the forest north of town. It would've helped if Titan had steeled his nerves, walking directly into someone and sending him skidding against the cobblestone pathway. " Watch where you're going, ey! " He musters up a response, the nerves providing more fang than the man often spoke with. His eyes quickly darting on the other's clothes at the beginner who sent him flying with a scowl on.

  13. There was something about NIGHT that felt unassuming and genuneinly kind but the type where they had layers protecting themselves from their true feelings and the rest of the world got the manufactured version of who they were. Titan would break though, she seemed like the type of person that he wouldn't have bothered with back in the real world but something about her reminded him that it took an entire village sometimes to find progress. " Trying my best. I can't help it, it's pretty badass and to think, you made this with your own two hands. " He wasn't sure if she had been a lot stronger than he was but it seemed that way, her calm and casual demeanor probably held the physical prowess to crush these wargs with a single finger. It was still quite the idea that his own powers could grow to incredible amounts if he kept grinding the expereince. " I'm lucky I spotted them in the window. They're probably my most valuable equipment. "

    As they walked through the bustling city of Urbus, Titan couldn't help but slow down a bit to keep her from such rapid steps. " Oh, I don't think i've been to the hot dog place yet. " He wouldn't be able to laugh yet, he wasn't sure what a Warg was either.

    Titan spotted the merchant and quickly discussed with him that they were both here to help and as he was handed ANTIDOTE potions, he made sure to give one to NIGHT as well. " You probably don't need it but, it's what was given. " Shrugging as they continued to walk, now outside of the city to where the Warg's were said to be.

    " It happens, I won't tease you if you miss. " Which was a lie, Titan would absolutely do that. " I've made a few friends here and there, I guess. I don't know, friends a loose term. I've met people I should say. The most notable is probably Shield? A Frontline Tank. He gave me some advice on tanking and let me know he's making a guild to bridge the gap between newbies and the front lines. I'll probably join the guild, it seems perfect for me. " He wouldn't only leave this about him. " What about you, NIGHT? What's the last thing you achieved in game that made you really proud of how far you've come? "
    @NIGHT

  14. The fisherman seemed incredibly patient for Titan as the man opened up his inventory and began to shuffle things around for the sake of organization. He wasn't one who liked clutter and would sell or give things away if he hadn't considered them helpful to his current mission. That's why being an Alchemist brought him such joy and pain, the ability to concoct so many helpful buffs and boons but with the different levels and strengths, Titan would rather donate the weakest damage potions over to the first floor, simply so he hadn't had to deal with any of it.

    Lost in his own cleanliness, he hadn't noticed Mari at first until she had gotten close enough for her to place her hand on her hips. The curves on her body had been insane too and for such a short person, it seemed like there was something not to scale here.

    Titan shook his head with a scoff at her response. " You said to invite you because you're bored, I thought it meant you wanted a second date. " The fisherman watched the two of them, shaking his head before gesturing the two of them onto his boat.

    " C'mon young lovebirds, get in here. " Ol' Pete tried to hurry the both of them up as Titan quickly got into the boat at offered Mari a hand to assist, not that she would take it.

    " You know, Mari. You can say that you enjoy me a teensy bit. My ego wouldn't be mad or too inflated. " A goad of a response, he knew Mari enjoyed him regardless if she'd say so or not.
    @Mari

  15. " Yeah, they're all big trees, but if you take a bit of a closer look you can tell that they have a bit of a distinction from one another. " He chimed in to her frustration, calming her resolve to seeing and understanding that there could always be an answer if you looked at something with enough intention. Titan decided to shut up and let the other lead, trusting in her own abilities and knowing that they hadn't too much they needed to do or go for the remainder of the day. If Shay wanted to take a bit, not by her own accord, then that's what would happen. His eyes watched Shay as she lunged, Titan was close to pull out his weapon but the man trusted Shay and saw that she had just been marking a tree but it was enough to get his heart racing.

    " See, steps. " He continued forward, letting her lead but noticed that the mark trees would help them backtrack if they ever needed to.
    @Shay

  16. As Titan had finished the quest already, he hadn’t wanted to take too much of the glory in attacks from Galilea. “ Let me know if you want me to attack one, too, but you’re killing it. Literally. ” The man let out a small snort at his pun, she seemed mighty capable and it surprised him that she needed a mentor to help her out and had found one in an orange-cursor, but then again, if Mari offered, Titan wasn’t sure if he would decline.

    Slightly caught off-guard by Oikawa’s question, Titan mulled over the question for a moment before stringing together the right words for a response. “ Long story short, I met Shield during the Easter event and Mari helped me with both of my last introduction quests. ” Her cursor had Titan not too worried or concerned about the man in front of his. “ They offered and showcased how talented they are in this game and when the time came, I thought it made sense to join. Is that how this guy got you in, Galilea? ” He chimed in, always a member of inclusion as he pulled the other rookie into the conversation as well.

    “ For goals, I’m working on becoming a tank eventually once I hit tier 3. Hopefully I can tank for the front line when the time comes. ” Shifting his gaze between the two of them before landing it on the higher-level man, his own motives piqued Titan’s curiosity as well. “ What made you want to take on a protégé and help out rookies? ” He figured he knew pieces of the reasoning but to hear it straight would be illuminating.
    @Galilea

  17. Pushing himself up one foot after the other, Titan's body had been drained of desire and all he wanted to do was jump in the shower for a couple of seconds and hit his bed for the best sleep of his life. He hadn't ever experienced such an intense battle and it messed with his mind to see his own health pool deep beneath orange. He was a planner, Titan made sure he trained and overleveled himself so that the quests he still had to do wouldn't be a challenge at all.

    But perhaps, that's exactly what the Gemini had been for. To show and prove that ambition and courage could make up for planning and those who simply stayed in the cerebral thoughts, could never get anywhere if all they did was theorize.

    The teleporter finally brought itself into view as Titan let out an exhasuted sigh. Sending himself back to the first floor, he'd take the most relaxing nap as soon as he could get himself out of this armor and into something a little bit more comfortable.

  18. He could either jump down into the waterfall or climb down the face of the mountain once again. Titan hadn't the energy to do the latter and so he pushed off with a mighty leap against the rocks and began to fall until seconds later he met the chilling embrace of fresh spring water. He hadn't dared take a sip but he could feel a difference in the water quality from even his own showers back in his home in the Tower of Beginnings. Someone could have quite the lucrative business bottling this and offering it to various players.

    After idly threading water for a few minutes, Titan made his way to the rocky shores that connected the falls with the earthy roots of the sixith floor, creating a brown muck in the water but enough of a rocky shoreline to not have swimmers stuck trying to escape the mud's grasp.

  19. As the cave’s mouth made itself clear to Titan, the tiny drums of the waterfall seemed to grow exponentially in sound while the man found his way to the clearing with a face of delusion and exhaustion that most adventurers had to face at one point or another. A free hand gripping towards his assault spear holder as he put the SOUL PIERCER away for now, letting the cylinder hang loosely against his back before making it to where the hidden cave met the waterfall’s roar as gallons of water pounded against the rocky cliffs into the lake below snaking through the sixth floor in various rivers and streams.

    It still felt like he’d been challenged over a week ago, finding the Easter eggs in the event and meeting the Amazonian woman with the grudge. Perhaps, she too, had felt the daunting fear of facing oneself at what seemed to be the ultimate self. Some people hated mirrors, doing everything they could to avoid their own reflection.

  20. With nothing but a humbling experience and his breathing finally settling into his normal rhythm, Titan decided it would be time to leave the cave that would surely haunt his dreams moving forward with the very idea that there had and would always be a better version of himself simply hiding, waiting for an opportune moment to strike. It would be waiting in the silence, seething on every little mistake and misstep to push closer and closer to the forefront.

    A huffed sigh escaped Titan’s lips with the rise and fall of the player’s shoulders in a steady breath. As every day felt and had been surreal, this quest would latch itself on to the man with a bit more bite than he was used to. Usually, Titan had the tendency to let things go and not let them bother him too much but this would be the one he’d have to do his best to shake off.

  21. Soul Piercer had never felt heavier in his hands then it did in this moment where he had been slain by the GEMINI illusion as the monster escaped deeper into its cave while his own health bar shone in a crimson hue with a simple sliver of life energy with a debuff on that had been still ticking health away from him. With hasty movements, Titan opened up and chugged his very last starter health potion to make sure no accidents would be had in this damn cave where he fought for his live and ultimately survived the carnage.

    Embarassed hadn’t been the right word to describe how the man was feeling weak throughout every square inch of Titan’s pixelated form. The warnings were clear, that the Gemini wouldn’t be such an easy quest to deal with and every single person who told him were absolutely right.

    But he would return for his own vengeance.
