  1. Astreya, of course, had no way of knowing that Vigilon wasn't a newbie- and beyond that, he was at level cap. The woman's eyes widened slightly and she grinned. "No way! That's awesome! I was going to see if you needed help with something but I guess you've probably got it all under control," she spoke, giving a wide smile. However as she was speaking, she became aware of another one approaching- a young blonde-haired woman and Astreya immediately grinned as she introduced herself. "Hey! I'm Astreya!" the girl cheered, glad to meet even more allies along the way. Even if they didn't re
  2. Astreya was not one to bare her soul to anyone, but she had found it happening more and more than what she'd like to happen, especially lately. She wondered if this was in the same vein that caused people who were in dire straits together to draw closer if only because there was no time for secrets to be shared between them. Her own armor that kept other people away from her real thoughts had dropped away there for a moment... and she had let Raidou see her for what she was, if only for a moment. And then he was not teasing her for letting herself speak that way, but instead was offerin
  3. Astreya didn't respond at first, merely glancing back over her shoulder and nodding at him as he spoke. He was in agreement, that he hoped the people that were trapped here would be able to return to a semblance of normalcy once they finally left. That they would be able to be with those they loved and had lost in this way. Or rather, that their loved ones had lost them to this game. It wasn't like a gaming addiction, where someone could find professional help and exist the spiral- but quite literally with their minds trapped in this hellscape forever, until they carved their own exit.
  4. Astreya let out a breath of mild annoyance at the Frost Vulture that fluttered near her, hopping to and fro on the ground as the girl sat at one of the tables near the main gate, just enjoying her lunch. Since she had finally managed to get her bird familiar to do what she wanted (and had quite the adventure) on the Fourth Floor, Astreya had come back to just... relax for a little while here in the Town of Beginnings. "Yes, yes, okay, geez. You're so bossy," the woman spoke as she cut a large piece of the cake off of the slab she was eating and tossed it down to the bird, who fairly gre
  5. Familiar Evaluation- Name: Frosty Species: Frost Vulture Description: A Rare Spawn on the Ninth Floor, this particular species of Pyre Vulture tends to absorb heat, rather than to emit it, creating a field of cold around it. The insides of the creature are a brilliant, icy blue, which both warn against its frigid proximity temperatures and also the intense heat that burns within her. Personality: Frosty is highly curious and interested in many things. She was kept as the leader of a flock of Pyre Vultures by the rest of them, and didn’t see much of the Ninth Floor
  6. The slight movement back away from her hadn't gone unnoticed by the sapphire-eyed girl and she reached for her tea once more, pulling back away from Raidou as she took a drink, all in one fluid motion. She didn't want to cause anyone any undue stress- at least not on purpose. She was something of a bleeding heart- she hated to see anyone in any amount of pain or discomfort. It was part of the reason that she had taken it upon herself to be a tank sort, on the front lines. She figured that no one else would want to be directly in harm's way... so she would do that for them. His drink o
  7. There was a certain eerie cadence in the way that Raidou spoke. It felt a little like he was trying to come off as wiser than he might have actually been- but there was also a rhythm to it- so much so that she found herself almost lost within the way his words came across the field to her. But all the same- he was correct in much of what he said... at least so far as she had been able to determine from her time here. His was the voice of experience and she had been taught to pay attention when those with more knowledge than her offered some of that up- especially when there was no cost to d
  8. "Whaaaaat? You're like the first person I've met who doesn't want do sweets," the girl spoke, her mouth open in mild shock, before she had managed to get herself together for the handshake and introduction. "Well hang on, let me see what else I have," she spoke, the young woman seemingly not at all in any sort of uncertainty surrounding this fellow, even if she had zero idea who he was. But as he offered the tea to her, the girl politely closed her inventory, reaching out with mailed hands to take the tea from him. "Thank you, Raidou," she returned, using his name with a smile as she pulle
  9. The rhetorical question came across to Astreya as someone who was trying to either buy time to figure out something more to say, or who was just relatively unused to these sorts of 'small talk' styles of conversations in general. She could be wrong, but the response left her with little to come back with and continue on with a back-and-forth with him, which left her a little uncertain on how to proceed. Thankfully, he didn't leave the conversation at that, and invited her over to take a seat. The young woman beamed a grin at him. "Sure! Thanks!" she called as she approached, the cur
  10. "Yeeeeeaaaaahhhhh," Astreya spoke as she waved one mailed hand in the air as both Plini and Freyd began to talk about the ideas of shops as a whole and players being able to find their own gear and whatnot fairly easily. The girl shook her head afterwards though, leaning back a little in her chair. "See, I don't really know if I want to, like, bother getting and upgrading new gear and junk because I'll probably just replace it when I increase my level anyway, right? So I might as well wait until I'm way up there first," she added, nodding. "I mean, if that makes sense, I guess. It seems l
  11. Character Name: Astreya Character Description: A peppy, fun-loving non-gamer with a penchant for reading people and strategy. Tends to talk quite a bit but it's mostly a buffer and most of her discussions are surface-level to keep anyone from getting too close. Still- she's very friendly and always willing to help someone or even just relax for a spell. Character Journal: [link]

  13. Astreya almost felt like Plini was thinking about something else when she mentioned 'strength.' She didn't really think that there even was another kind of it, not in a game world. What else would matter in this sort of place? If you didn't have enough combat strength, then you couldn't make it anywhere higher up... although she supposed she'd been on the first level here in Aincrad for... how long? Far too long, without any combat strength. She had opened her mouth then to comment, regarding if he meant some sort of 'mental fortitude' as opposed to any combat ability... when the ne
  14. "Yeah I just kinda go to whatever shop looks like it has the best food for what I want that day," Astreya admitted, shrugging slightly in response to the man's words. "Food is food and it's basically all delicious. I guess that's another one of the benefits of being in a virtual world like this one too, right?" she asked, on the heels of his own commentary regarding the lack of concern about one's weight. "Everyone just uses the crafting recipe so the food always turns out good, no matter what it is. It doesn't really matter how good or bad you are at cooking in real life- you just follow
  15. Just one more floor. Astreya had been telling herself that for the last fifteen floors. She had been stuck, almost entirely due to her own fear, in the Town of Beginnings since the very near start of the game until now, just eking out an existence in a day-to-day life that had become mind-numbingly normal. She would chat and hang out with the other lowbies that had seen the death that would come from a failed combat with a monster, and were also too afraid to leave. They would work together to gather materials in the safety of being right near the towns gate, selling enough to get the
  16. At the sudden surprise from behind her, Astreya nearly choked on her pie, having not been expecting anyone to actually answer her. She was just sort of venting to the cosmos, something she had a really bad habit of doing. All the same, as she forcibly swallowed the food down, giving a small sound of slight pain as she did so. She managed to finish choking about the time he sat down, and the girl exhaled softly. "The food's great actually," she responded with a grin, ignoring the slight tears in her eyes from the near-death incident she'd just had. "And heck yeah I did. I can eat all
  17. Astreya frowned as she peered over the counter at a few different food items that were available for purchase. In her recent attempts at actually going outside the safety of the city and doing a few quests, she actually had some extra Col that she could spend on food, which was nice. It wasn't very often that she actually got to be a little extravagant with her purchases- usually she just did very basic simple ones and earned a little bit here and there, just enough to make it through each day. But after just a few quests, she had this Col burning a hole in her pocket and she just had t
  18. Appearance Appearance | Faceclaim: Miyuki Shiba from The Irregular at Magic Highschool With dark hair that reaches the middle of her back and striking blue eyes, Iris (and thusly Astreya) is certainly eye-catching. The pleasant smile on her features as well tends to make others feel a bit at ease around her, but her eyes contain a keen intellect… and those who are skilled at reading people would definitely notice that the easy smile she wears doesn’t quite reach her eyes. She carries herself easily, with a relaxed posture and an approachable demeanor, always available with a qu
