Nari-Lanreth replied to Nari-Lanreth's topic in Intermediate Floors
Nodding while the three others confirmed their specialties, Nari will let her eyes roam around the area. She wasn’t a fan of the location – it was far more sombre than the floor she called home, even if there was daylight here. Cocking her head at the woman – Yuki’s, her name was Yuki – Nari will finally speak up, a look of pause on her face. “Well, I don’t know how much damage I can do per se, but…I, like you also deal back from what I take – although likely not nearly as much as you do…I’m guessing we should avoid paralysing the creatures where possible then?” She’ll smile slight before -

Nari watched in what she could only call disbelief as the girl once again managed to miss hitting either target. She barely registered the two skeletons slamming their weapons into her, her eyes entirely on Cleo, even as one of them exploded into shards. “You… you missed again. I would recommend maybe focusing on… hitting them. It tends to, well, work better. Do you have any accuracy boosts on your weapon?” Turning her attention back to the single Skeleton, Nari will level her spear along the top of her shield, steadying the point of it before activating the sword art. As the tip begins t -
Nari made her way back into the little café shop, smiling as she caught sight of Rebekah – clearly hard at work. Nari could see the focus and determination in her form and features, and she swore she could see a little bit of enjoyment there as well. Moving up to the counter, she’ll smile as she greets Rebekah. “Hey I heard that the order was ready! Thanks for the quickness on it. It looks awesome! I’ll definitely be back for some more in a little while!” Collecting the caribou stew, she’ll deposit it into her inventory before giving Rebekah another wave, then making her way back out

Nari-Lanreth posted a topic in Beginner Floors
Her fight with the creature in the colosseum had gone far better than Nari had expected it to, and as she had returned home – barely getting a few hours of rest – she was notified of another situation on floor five. Deciding it was a problem for tomorrow, she rolled over in her bed, trying to fall asleep. A few moments passed before she realised she wouldn’t be able to rest properly until she did something about the notification. Sighing heavily as she rolled into a seated position, she brought her menu up, opening her friends list and quickly scrolling through it. Her finger hesitated ov -

Not taking her eyes off the Skeleton, Nari will gently say over her shoulder to the girls enquiry, “It’s an ability for armour, it allows you to give back some of what you take – or if you’re like me, more than you take.” Eyeing the two skeletons, she’ll drop her shield into place, pulling her left leg back as she readied herself to strike. Her gaze rolled over the health bar of the two creatures, suddenly realising that both were nearly defeated. “I’m going to hold here, you finish them off. They’re still focused on me, so make sure to make this one count, okay?” Letting go of the s -
“It’s always amazing how similar… and yet different this place is. I’ve come here a few times, each time on a different floor, and although the general layout and appearance is similar…” Nari will pause to pull a lilac towards her, letting the flower gently run through her fingers before allowing it to spring back into place. “There’s always something unique about it.” Turning to look at Bismuth – purposefully avoiding looking at Nemo, she still wasn’t fully able to forgive him, but her hatred had more than died off. “So… what did you want to do here today? I’m down to do a bit of foragin

Her spear slipped under the scales of the creature, landing another successful strike. As she twisted the spear, tearing away its defences further. As she did so, the creature suddenly slashed out with its weapon, slamming it into her side and causing her health bar to drop slightly in response. At the same time, the thorns within her shield lashed out, piercing the creature’s body in multiple places and draining the health of it further. She could see a bare tick left in the creature’s health, and knew that the fight was almost over. With the end so close, Nari knew that she could take -

Nari watched as the health bar slipped further down on the creature, her own remaining steady in its full setting. She felt the enthusiasm fighting to burst through her battle calm, the success so far causing her emotions to boil beneath it. She was sure now, or at least as sure as she could possibly be, that the creature’s ability to react to her movements and retaliate with speed were diminished with its sudden increase in its ability to deal damage, and take damage. Knowing what she had to do, Nari forced herself to settle back and let the creature come to her. Her ability to dodge and -

She struck true as the beast launched itself towards her. Side stepping, the creatures rolled right past her, unable to properly readjust its attack, leaving Nari to wonder if the increase in size meant that it was less reactive or accurate in its strikes. It was something she put aside for the moment – she didn’t want to assume something that could turn around and hurt her in the future. Shield in front of her, Nari forced herself not to push the advantage, instead allowing the creature to rush her and hopefully tire itself out. Dodging left and right, stepping backwards and drawing it -

Nari watched as the health bar dropped further, her damage taking affect against the creature’s defenses. Just as Nari was thinking she may have finally found the true weakness of the being, when the creature suddenly doubled in size. She saw the scales once removed seal over, a film covering them as if adding another layer of defence. The sudden change in the beast’s size caused Nari pause. She knew that often in stronger monsters they could change attack patterns, or even powers and capabilities midway through the battle. Nari had assumed that wouldn’t happen here, seeing as the health -

Nari saw the arm suddenly lash out backwards towards her – and attack that she wouldn’t have expected to be possible from something so large and cumbersome. She barely managed to duck backwards as it knocked her spear tip to the side, forcing her own attack to be as futile as its had been. Stepping to her right, she brought herself around again, trying to confuse it into opening its defenses for her. She kept her shield up, poking the spear tip forward any time she saw a possible opening, drawing backwards the moment it engaged the feint, before striking at another target that opened up. -

Her blade slashed into the arm of the creature, leaving a dip in the creature’s health. Nari glanced at its health bar, noticing that it had dipped below the fifty percent marker. She was surprised at the progress she’d made – it had seemed like this fight was going to be much tougher than she had originally expected, however she was already halfway there. Smiling to herself, she side stepped another chaotic swipe of the creature, ducking beneath the backswing and placing some distance between herself and it. Shield before her, spear held at the ready, eyes searching for another opening, -

‘Well, that didn’t work at all. This…this thing is smarter than I expected…’ She stood her ground, forcing herself to reconsider the fight. It had clearly learnt to watch for her wild strikes, and so she decided that there was only one thing further she could do – stand her ground and slowly strike down the health on the creature over time. Gritting her teeth and preparing for the long haul, she settled into her ready stance, bringing her shield before her and levelling her spear outwards. Letting the bottom of the spear settle softly on the ground, Nari bent her knees slightly, her eyes -

‘So it can learn.’ Nari’s only thought as the creature slid to the side of her attack, spinning and slamming its own weapon into her side – Nari barely able to deflect it with her shield to minimize the strike. Nari forced herself to step back, to give herself space and time to consider her options. She knew that she wanted to bring the creatures defences down further, but she was worried that it had learnt her trick entirely and that she needed to consider other options. ‘One last try, let’s give it one last try – it could make a world of a difference…’ Nodding to herself, she decided th -

As her spear tip slide between the scales of the beast, Nari twisted, forcing more of the defensive armour plating to fall from the creature, and causing it to roar in pain and surprise. She could see the health bar drop again – her own ticking off the single point she received in return. Everything seemed to be going well now, and she knew she could truly push the advantage. But first…first she wanted to try weakening it just a little bit more. Drawing the spear back towards herself, she pulled her shield up in front again, readying for the opening she knew was coming. As soon as the cre -

The shattering of the creature’s hides was like a blessing to Nari, and she felt the difference her strike made. More importantly – it not only missed its next strike towards her, but also didn’t recover any of its health. Nodding to herself, she figured that it could only regenerate on successful attacks – much like a tech skill she had wanted to hunt down, allowing her to do the exact same thing. ‘Right, just need to dodge its attacks then, and slowly whittle it down – should be…easy.’ As her own health bar returned to a full gauge, Nari’s calmness was broken by a mere second of enthusi -

Her second strike barely scratch the creature – and more so to Nari’s worry, she watched as some of the damage she’d originally done seemed to heal as the creature slammed its own attack into her. She barely felt it – her armour dulling the likely otherwise dangerous attack, but the fact that she would be fighting an uphill battle had her off put. Gritting her teeth, she pulled back a step, eyeing up her opponent and trying to figure out what she needed to do to truly hurt this thing. She knew that it’s ability to soften her blows wasn’t helping. Spear tip pulled down towards the creature -

Her first strike caught the creature directly in the centre of its chest, the ice spreading across it as the freeze property activated. Nari smiled at her success, lavishing in such a capable first strike. Until she realised how little had been taken off the creature’s health bar. The sudden worry caught her as she side stepped around it, moving so as to leave its reach before it could break free of the ice and lash back at her in kind. Bracing herself, she eyed up her opponent, realising that her wish for a more challenging conflict had been answered – and suddenly wondering if she was -

Nari waved as Astreya appeared, immediately calling out and introducing her to…someone. It took Nari a moment – and the momentum of being dragged towards the other two men in the square – to realise that she was gesturing to the seated man. She eyed Freyd up, not seeing the similarity to the Gardener in any avenue of the definition, but she assumed that there was more than met the eye here. Half bowing towards the man, she’ll give a slight smile, nodding to the other individual whom hadn’t been introduced yet. “Nari-Lanreth, Nari for short. It’s a pleasure to meet…both of you. Nari cocked her head listening to Astreya’s words. She was amazed again by the girl – she was able to convey so much in so little words – and yet somehow, she felt like someone who was just…welcoming. Her ears perked up at two sentences though, and she slowly responded, curiosity in her voice. “I…actually haven’t talked to Koga lately…I had no idea he had a shop on the first.” A bit of pain in her chest as she confessed, she still meant to fix that. “More importantly…did you say chess club? As in, you were apart of chess club?” Nari couldn’t help but let the amazement reach her voice -

‘Easy. Far too easy…we’ve got this…’ Nari smiled to herself as the two skeletons froze in place, the stun affect prohibiting their movement. From behind her she heard, then saw Cleo rush forward to try and catch both creatures with her dagger. Nari watched as the girl rushed forward, swinging in a relatively controlled swing…and then tripped over one of the skeleton’s feet. ‘Well, that was…something.’ Seeing the two creatures beginning to move again, Nari realized she needed to step in – and quickly. ‘A small flaming cat…interesting choice.’ Nari shook her head at the enquiry, her eyes still drifting about the area. “No, although I don’t think I’ll be the one to spot-“ Her words stopped as she saw the bone shift – something she would’ve completely overlooked if she hadn’t been specifically searching for signs of danger. Drawing her right foot back, her shield and spear came up almost instantly in reflex to the sign of danger. “Get behind me.” Her voice was suddenly devoid of any emotion as she entered her battle stance, her face stoic and focused. She watched as two skeletons ros
