[F09 – SP] Flames Unkindled <<Guardian of Fire>>
Nari-Lanreth replied to Nari-Lanreth's topic in Beginner Floors
“I saw two, but I’m sure there would be more inside the cave itself.” The mention of the cave caught Nari’s attention, her interest snapping back to the conversation at hand. A cave, that meant that she’d be walking into a possible trap area – something she would need to be very careful of. Caves could have only one exit, which means that she may get into a situation where she couldn’t physically make her way back out. “So, where is this cave? How far away?” Nari listened as the info broker provided her detailed directions out of the village, and down the path way to where the cave could -

Nari’s hands went to her mouth as she listened to Astreya’s explanation. How had she been so foolish, not realising what she had said, what she had done. “Oh! Oh no! What have I…oh no!” Spinning around towards Koga, waving a hand to get his attention, she shouted out across the room. “Koga! I’m so sorry – I didn’t realise bringing up the whole Bismuth kiss thing could be a problem! I’m sorry!” Turning back to Astreya with a slight smile on her face, a sheepish look to match, Nari will pause for a moment before going wide-eyed. “Oh my gods. I did it again, didn’t I?! Shit. Shit. Ah sh -

“Are you here looking for information about Cerberus?” The voice called from the shadows of the building, drawing her attention, as the glaive shifted ever so slightly in her arm. She knew that the area was considered safe, but… Glancing at the figure, she saw a man matching the description she’d received of the broker – and beneath his somewhat revealing shirt, she could see the bandages that signified he had recently engaged in something dangerous. Deciding this was likely her info broker, Nari stepped towards him, letting the glaive roll forward slightly in the crook of her arm, provi -

The hike up the mountain wasn’t nearly as painful as Nari had been expecting. A well laid pathway, one clearly used for consistent travel to and from the village, had stretched the entire climb. The path had clearly been maintained and upkept for consistent use, and although the climb had a tilt to it, it wasn’t something that Nari would’ve called difficult or uncomfortable to complete. She had been surprised to reach the top of the mountain within only a few hours, far sooner than she had expected. The village itself hadn’t been anything superbly overwhelming – a small mining town that h -
Nari had stepped off the teleporter pad onto Floor 9 and felt one immediately feeling – regret. The entire floor was hot. Boiling, uncomfortable hot. Her armour had caused her to immediately become drenched in sweat – the feeling of it driving her to an itching frenzy that she had been constantly reminding herself to ignore. What was worse, was that she was here because of a rumour – a supposed three-headed hound of legend having been spotted somewhere on the floor. She had headed down in search of the beast, learning that there was an information broker somewhere on the floor that had apparen

Nari watched as Koga lashed out at Nemo, destroying the dragon with an anger that made her wonder if Nemo had done something to him. Just as she was considering the possibilities, she registered what he had called out. ‘I… guess he’s not one for pet names. Oops.’ Shoving the distracting thought aside, she glanced at the last night, noticing that it had begun to drift towards Koga in an attempt to lash out at him. Rushing forwards, Nari slid in between the two, bringing her blade up and around in a wide arc, in an attempt to finish off the creature once and for all. Her blade slammed

[OP-F24] Valentines Tournament Arc Round 2 - Observer Thread
Nari-Lanreth replied to Baldur's topic in Intermediate Floors
It took Nari a moment to place the face and voice, before recognising the host of the entire event. As the words cited hovered in the air, Nari waited, pulling her knees further into herself, knowing what must be coming next. When the words did finally arrive, she felt a combination of emotions – sadness, at having done something so wrong; anger, at herself for allowing such a horrendous act to occur; finality, at finally receiving the consequence that she knew would arrive; and hope, hope at the chance that was given to grow from this occurrence. She provided no vocal disagreement, nor -

Nari glanced to the sunrise as the older man continued his words of wisdom – words that seemed to resonate within Nari’s very soul. She recognised the truth and meaning behind them, even if they were new to her. She heard the mention of drinking to new possibilities, and reached out to accept the small drinking saucer. Bringing it to her lips, she took a small sip of the drink, letting it rush down her throat before answering. Her voice was reserved, barely audible against the crashing waves, the life of it gone – if only for the moment. “Your father must have been a very wise man. S -

The fight over, Nari turned and left the room, closing the door behind her as she went. She crossed back through the fort, coming across no further individuals, before making her way back down the stairwell to the cells – finding the boy exactly where she had left him. Waltzing up to the cell, Nari opened the door, gesturing out to the hallway. “Alright, let’s go.” The boy seemed to hesitate for a moment, as if unsure if he should leave the cell. Nari sighed, her patience wearing thin as she waited. “The bandits are all gone. Let’s get you home.” Her words seemed to cause him to real -

Ducking underneath the wild swing of the man as he realised what she was attempting to do, Nari forced herself forward, slamming the man against the far wall and causing the air to expel from his lungs. She heard a soft ‘shink’ as the thorns erupted from the shield and impaled his body. A soft grunt, and Nari stepped back, wondering if she had managed to do enough to end it all. The blade swinging upwards and slashing across her front made her realise this wasn’t the case, and in a frenzied reaction, she brought her glaive down, hoping to end everything with one final strike. The violet -

The two of them danced around the room, their blades flashing as they attempted without any success to land a hit that would bring this fight to an end. Nari felt herself growing tired as the conflict continued – she’d already felt worn out from the fight with the leader – and now she was having to face this newcomer. None of her slashes had managed to connect with the man yet, and in her frustration she decided to throw it all away and try something that had worked previously. Rushing forward, hoping she could get beneath his guard and into the sweet range that would render his sword le -

As Astreya dragged her away, Nari glanced back at Koga, wondering if she’d said something wrong. She had simply asked…her eyes shifted to Astreya, the girl clearly not impressed with what she had done. ‘I did a bad.’ She let the girl pull her away from the crowd – not really wanting to learn ‘Blackjack’, but aware enough that putting up any sort of resistance might cause more problems in the situation. She thought back over what she had said, her brow furrowing as she did so. ‘Was it wrong to mention Koga kissing Bismuth? I hadn’t actually seen it, so maybe it didn’t happen? But then why -
Nari watched as Koga lashed forwards, drawing the targets together before unleashing with what seemed to be a relatively strong strike against all of them – except…none of them exploded. The Knights were clearly heavily damaged, yet still they remained. Nari had to stifle a slight giggle, before calling out in a teasing voice. “Hey uh…Kogies, they’re still here. Let me uh…let me try something.” Closing her eyes for a moment, she let the glaive lower slightly, calling forth the energy within the blade that Cardinal provided. Three quick steps and she closed the distance, allowing the soft

Her blade slid up and over him as he ducked beneath, slamming his own blade into Nari’s shield in retaliation. She felt the blow drive her backwards, the force causing a single tick against her health bar as she came to a stop against the wall. Frustration roaring from her throat, Nari pushed back against the weight of the fighter, forcing herself free from his lock. Rolling off to the side, she brought her blade back up, preparing for another lash towards him. The blade slipped through the air, the first few strikes passing harmlessly near his body. As she felt his defences opening, Nar -

Nari turned to leave the area, just a door on the far side opened up – one she hadn’t previously noticed. Stepping out from the door was a man garbed in less than appealing clothing of a mixture of orange and green, a look of surprise on his face as he took in the scene around him, including Nari. A snarl erupted on his face, and Nari had a sinking feeling that she knew exactly where this was going. Her hypothesis was proven just as the man brandished the longsword that had been belted at his hip, letting out a roar before slamming through the table and rushing towards her. Sighing heavil -

Nari felt the blade of the large sword slash against the side of her face – the tip barely grazing her, and her health bar dropping a single point in response. At the same time her shield came slamming into the woman’s side, releasing the thorns hidden within and slicing across her body – before slithering back and then slamming out into her again in response to the damage Nari herself had taken. Leaping backwards, Nari pushed some distance between herself and her opponent, eyeing the woman carefully in an attempt to determine how best to finish the fight. Letting her glaive drop into th -

The ringing of her shield slamming into the woman’s body seemed to echo throughout the room, and Nari had to shake her head as the brunt of the force filtered up through her spine and into her head – something that she assumed would have an effect on her later, at some point. For the time being, she needed to focus on bringing an end to this fight as quickly as possible – and her thorns were definitely doing the trick. Pulling the shield up in front of herself, she braced against it, letting the glaive fall back into the crook of her arm and out of the way of any danger – for herself, an -
Nari gave Koga a flippant smile as she wandered towards Nemo, readying herself for what was to come. She still felt some hatred towards the NPC for what he had done to her – but… something about what Koga had said… it made the anger fizzle slightly. Not gone, but definitely receded from where it had once burned extremely hot. As she came closer to the teleport gate, she saw as Nemo moved to block her route. Drawing her sword again, she levelled it along the top of the shield, preparing herself to launch forward and strike the green dragon the moment he had transformed. As the shimmering b

Nari was ready for the woman’s assault, managing to bring her shield up and her blade down in time to slam the sword art’s strike into her body – causing her to seize up and the zweihander to bounce harmlessly off Nari’s defences. She knew immediately this wouldn’t be an easy fight, and that should would need to be extra careful with her energy and assault style. She couldn’t afford to be careless here – it could lead to a deadly disaster for herself. Shrugging off the concern and forcing herself to focus on the fight itself instead, Nari slammed her shield forward, attempting to unleash -

‘Ah, crap. Well, it was a good run – I guess this isn’t going to be solved through words. At least I tried, right?” The sarcasm wasn’t lost on her as she shifted slightly – a movement clearly not lose on the woman who was watching her. Nari saw the woman’s arm glide towards the blade at her side, readying for the conflict they both knew was coming. “I uhm…never said that I was bringing a ransom. Just that I was bringing him home.” Nari nodded towards the door behind her, moving her right arm upwards as if to gesture as well – but instead bringing the shield into a better position to defle -

The tension remained in the air for a few moments before the woman’s voice suddenly broke the air. It was far harsher than Nari had expected, a cracking, hard tone to it. “I don’t remember inviting anyone else to join us for dinner. Who exactly are you, and how did you get past my men?” Nari knew she had to be careful here, where one wrong word could lead to a very dangerous situation. Glancing at the woman, she decided on a middle ground, telling a portion of the truth and hoping it would appease her – at least for the moment, although she wasn't sure how likely that was to be. “I… -

The room beyond the door was not what Nari had expected. Two small windows allowed light in from the outdoors – clearly at street level, and yet large enough to light up the room clearly. Within it she found a large table, food plated and set as if someone was getting prepared to enjoy a meal. On one end of the table sat an open stool, as if a guest was expected to arrive at some point in the next little while. A plate, cup and bowl had been set, as well as the many utensils that would normally be seen in much fancier settings – or at least, Nari assumed as much. On the other end of the t -
Nari smiled at Koga as he mentioned waiting a moment. She couldn’t help but tease the man, even if only slightly. “What, are you scared of a wee little green dragon? Would you prefer to kill some more wolves to get comfortable first?” She knew he was being logical – there was no point rushing into another bout of combat if they weren’t properly prepared for it. But at the same time…she just couldn’t resist. And maybe it would make things a bit less…awkward, after what had just occurred. Glancing around, she decided that at the very least she could take a look for any of those nice shiny b

As her final opponent exploded into a shattering of shards, Nari felt her tension release. It had certainly been one of her tougher fights – but at no point had she truly been in trouble. The entire thing had been a major confidence boost – perhaps she was almost strong enough to travel to the front lines. ‘Soon. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves after one successful little fight. Let’s try something truly difficult before we just jump into what has killed many others.’ She couldn’t argue with the logic, which normally would’ve made her annoyed at the voice in her head. But…she was differe
