[F29-EV] The Final Stand | <<Fatal Error ACT: 2>>
Jeeves replied to Plot Master's topic in Intermediate Floors
Wads of beeswax shoved into his ears as improvised plugs meant fewer distractions, but also less warning when paws and maws took snipes at his passing limbs. Never one of the popular kids, Jeeves' also didn't care for the blasting tunes either... though if they somehow managed to make mobs actually explode he might have been more willing. He'd never been much of a team player either, but circumstances dictated the terms of engagement. Slinking about the battlefield, Jeeves served with distinguished duty as an opportunist. An unexpected shot here, to distract at a critical moment. A well-t -

"Errr.... let's see. Triangular head, with spotty mottling and the wiggly neck tentacle thingies... that would be fire." Ripping off the protective sheath exposed the chemical-laden dart to the air, instantly igniting its tip. Meant most for fire and forget mode, Jeeves had found a way to entertain himself amidst the chaos by taking notes and pairing weapon types to enemy weaknesses. Striking right in the pulsing pustule on its back, the flaming bolt sparked the dubious concoction brewing inside, instantly causing the mob and its surroundings to combust. Cackling silently from his hid -

Jeeves replied to Rencesvals's topic in Intermediate Floors
"Oh, perfect." Scooting from his hidey hole, Jeeves dashed towards their beleaguered foe, unleashing his newest flechette round that ripped through the mobs avatar like a shotgun blast. Ravana's health bar was decimated, plummeting from a poorly performing yellow to unflattering red. Even his groupies on the perimeter looked worried. "Yeah, ladies. Sorry to tell you, but I'd wager you backed the wrong horse. If you were waiting for some sort of second coming... heh... you may be out of luck." A quick hand gesture made to Foyle was readily acknowledged. The tent was flammable, -

"Yeah, yeah. Your fancy new hammer did all the work." Without missing a breath, Jeeves lined up a short, threading the needle through the bonfire to stick their enemy with am infectious concoction to properly decimate it from the inside out. The dancing women strangely ignored their sudden melee, spreading themselves around the broader plaza and ringing the impromptu battlefield like a bunch of oni cheerleaders. "Is this the Ravana dude they keep muttering about? Can't say he's been overly impressive so far." Chatting as he reloaded, the delicate windings of his wrist-activated m -

"Strong associations with blood and fire were found in the available texts, suggesting some sort of infernal realm, or potential devil/demon association. Given that these came from drop during Diwali, the nature of floor twenty-seven, and other miscellaneous corroborating evidence, some sort of infernal connection seems highly likely." The other three men stood, stunned. Jeeves had actually participated in their pre-mission discussions. Normally, he just grunted and grimaced, keeping to himself and plotting the demise of some poor house pet - presumably. He wasn't the type to share. -

“What do you mean, you ‘lost’ it?! How do you lose a giant ass reflective murder monster constantly trying to kill everything around it with fingernails hardy enough to put Freddy Kruger to shame?” Extra petulant and feisty with fatigue after nearly three days of constant battle, Jeeves’ was more than a little miffed. Wearing clothing so saturated that its consistency bordered on becoming a moist towelette certainly didn’t help. “It was right there a minute ago! Event boss mob thingies don’t just suddenly evaporate into thin air.” “Actually…” Ren’s pending exposition on the sub -
While the others were busy getting all sentimental and stuff, Jeeves loaded another of his sample collection quarrels and fired, snaring a bit of digital flesh for further analysis and consideration. If any of them noticed, they said nothing. And why would they even be watching? He'd learned long ago how best to play to expectations, and that most often meant overlooking him completely. Hardly needing system support, he was already invisible in most crowded rooms, certainly with certain other people around. This crew would be his camouflage. Useful, even likeable, they served his needs a

Ever dart impact left a black-ish green marring on the mob's outer skin, making him wonder what actually lay beneath. Did mobs even have internal anatomy? If they did, the ramifications were interesting. Was it always there, or only reveal itself as the layers above were exposed and peeled back? While this was hardly the mob to be exploring such notions with, it did give him some ideas as to what experiments might be possible. Habishinu's tongue provided a vector from which to trace the potential progress of toxins or even virulent disease. It was only in that moment that he realized

"These drops are fascinating," Jeeves commented, inspecting the lanky tongue provided as prize for Hebishinu's defeat. "It mimics some of the abilities from my latest prototype. Could they be combined? Shame that they seem to be single use, but I suppose we could always return to farm the thing." Running his thick leather gloves through ruddy brown locks, Jeeves' mind was abuzz with potential and possibilities. "Freyd, didn't this thing used to grant paralysis, or am I thinking of a different mob drop? Some of the older guild records get all jumbled, and can be hard to follow up ac

Where the blast wave rocked the others off their feet, Jeeves was fully bowled over, rolling ass over tea kettle until a tree stump 'conveniently' broke his momentum. "Oww! Dammit. Stupid snek thingy!" Scrambling back onto his feet, the battle was already unfolding into pure mayhem, or has he often preferred to think of it: normal. Ever since joining up with Firm Anima, at Quaestor's urging, he'd been sent on increasingly difficult and dangerous missions. Freyd seemed to think him suited for them, and at first he'd protested, like he protested just about everything. It was his p

Tugging his sleeve down to conceal his newly minted mechanical arsenal, even Jeeves' joy was difficult to suppress. He'd spent a week pouring over all of the details with Ren, scrounging parts or having them custom fabricated by different craftsman to prevent anyone from stealing his designs. Still, all the manic energy had been worth it to wrap the finished device around his wrist and test load it with a dummy dart. He'd spent hours just calibrating the sight and testing it on clay pots and glass bottles line up behind Quaestor's shop - much to Miri's chagrin. "Yeah. I think we're go

Where Ren charged the angel head on, Jeeves was already scheming to deny it access to the skies. Dodging right, in case the field came with its own tricks for players foolish enough to cluster around the boss, his bolts lanced through the air to perforate the mob's feathered wings with impunity. "Foyle! Take care of the other side. If we can keep it down, it'll be just like the wasp queen!" He could already see the archer moving to the far field, bow at the ready for a run and gun effort. Freyd was closing the pincer on the mob from behind, his hammer eager to meet Ren's anvil

Sliding through a field of loose gravel as he moved to get a clear shot, Jeeves timed it just well enough to catch a glimpse of red among purple and fire. Planting his forward foot hard into unstable ground gave him just enough purchase to slow and stop on a pivot, whirling a full three-sixty while he reloaded and fired again. The game's firing algorithms made it easier, tracking in lead time to setup a reticule for ridicule, which he promptly took advantage of every time. Why wouldn't he? The phoenix, meanwhile, was looking rather dour, having been beat up before it could do much of a

"Floor Nine. Yogan Village." Each member of the squad repeated the words, vanishing one by one to travel from one unbearable hellhole to another. But, whereas the former would suck the moisture from your bones, parch the skin until it flaked off, then bleach your bones, this one would just melt you in a pool of molten magma or fill your lungs with toxic fumes. Verdicts were out on which was worse, but neither received especially fond reviews. "Firebird, right? Hey, Ren. Isn't your familiar a phoenix? Is this where you found it?" Ren shook his head in the negative. "I found

Unlike his counterparts, Jeeves seemed completely unphased by their netherworld passage, emerging on the blistering side with arm raised and aim already set. A subtle twang and yelp as his bolt found its mark, the mob having not even revealed its presence or proximity to the rest. "Found it." Voice cold and self-assured as he swiftly reloaded, already dreaming up designs for his next prototype. Something with self-loading or repeating capacity would be nice. "Underbelly would be softest, but you might all just as well punch through its exoskeleton. This one's not so tough that it cou

"There. That should add a bit of oomph while also mitigating recoil. I just hope it doesn't compromise accuracy in exchange." Tuning out Ren's worry-warting, Jeeves checked the rest of his gear to ensure that he had everything ready to go. Still statistically behind the others, he cared little so long as they kept up their carries. Their recent bouts with the knights had also taught him a lesson about patience and caution, as a small sample taken suddenly ruptured and spawned a whole "Hey, Freyd. Whatever happened to you after that Spectral tossed your hide overboard on twenty nine.

[EV-PP-F29] Other Peoples' Messes <<Fatal Error: Act 1>>
Jeeves replied to Freyd's topic in Intermediate Floors
Rolling beneath Ren's clumsy strides and round Freyd's general aura of mob decimation, Jeeves practically ignored the mob itself in favour of his prize. The dart, still plainly stuck in the rubble wall a few feet away offered untold alchemical potential that he might harness for any number of effects, some more dubious than others. Jeeves didn't care. He wanted it. And that was enough. Tumbling through the battlefield, earning a few stray shards of glass in his sides for his trouble, he finally reached out to claim his prize, when the sample vial suddenly exploded, spawning an entir -

Jeeves replied to Freyd's topic in Intermediate Floors
"Hah! Gotcha, now I just need to... GAH!" The Knight resumed its thrashing and flailing, Freyd and Ren's latest efforts to incapacitate it finally faltering. Only just about to claim his prize, one of the giant warrior's whipping segmented glass chains snapped to ground shattering the very vial he'd snuck around so diligently to collect. "Mother F..." Another tentacle chain blow forced him to reel and retreat, firing a wayward shot that somehow beaned the Knight squarely in the chest, embedding his sampling dart in the wall of the ruined tower where Foyle had chosen to perch. -

"That's it... that's it... just a little further and... #$H@#$HKJ! Frikkin do-gooders. The Knight was right where I needed him." Glass shrapnel sprayed in a wide arc overhead as most of the Spectral Knight's javelin shots were parried by the Whisper's blade... straight towards him. Partially flattered that he'd not been spotted, Jeeves was mostly irked that he needed to waste more time lining up another shot. I only have a few of these bolts and can't waste them. Thoughts kept to himself, the youngster fixed his goggles after falling prone had knocked them sideways on his fa -

Jeeves replied to Freyd's topic in Intermediate Floors
Grumbling in silence, Jeeves ambled up a nearby ruined wall, careful not to lose his footing in the process. If he drew this thing's attention, he was just dead. Splat. Roll credits. There was no in between, based on what little he'd seen of the Spectral Knights so far. But their cloning ability, that had some seriously interesting potential. If she could only somehow get a sample from a knight and deconstruct the code, or replicate the effect. He chuckled at the double meaning, even while skulking up into high shadows and cover. "Straight on fights are for the birds." Glancing -
[PP-F27] Great Balls of Fire <<Ravana's Revenge>>
Jeeves replied to Freyd's topic in Intermediate Floors
Blinking comically enlarged eyes seen through the lenses of his goggles, Jeeve's wild hair and face were as thoroughly covered as Foyle's, while Freyd and Wulfrin were both relatively untouched. Spitting out the soil he'd unintentionally inhaled, he began the extensive effort required to dust himself off before surrendering to futility and focusing only around his mouth instead. "Didn't this used to be a lot harder?" Given the drastic level boost experienced by Foyle and himself in the wake of Diwali, the claim wasn't entirely off. Both men has skipped over an entire tier in leveling,
