    Eh? She couldn’t have been dreaming, could she? The skies boiled crimson from an azure blue, and with it ushered in a wave of complexities. The game was to begin, and it was kill or be killed.

    Ren was never ready for this. Her, a tame Singaporean girl, moulded by urban living and refined by conservative asian values. Like most other students her age, compelled and dedicated to focus on her studies to no end. The rat race commonly pressurized students to churn out distinctions and scholarship awards. In such a bustling society, there would never be a time to be prepared for survivalism. Not for her.

    But she still had some advantages. Her mother had chided her constantly about her deviation of interests from her peers. Gifted with a desktop from her estranged father, Ren had been watching the internet grow and transition from its roots. Her early technological literacy had elevated her to participate in an international community, distancing herself from most of her schoolmates. Her interest would leap from subcultures to websites, eventually leading her to a central hobby, video games.

    Ren bristled from the chill of the news; getting trapped in a video game had only been a fantasy she’d bounced around with a handful of friends, nothing more. Her thoughts then trailed over to allies she could rely on, and she came up empty. Her preorder copy had miraculously been delivered early, putting her in the minority of players logged in on Day One.

    It would take some time for her to develop an answer. At her own pace, she had spoken to several strangers, exchanging feedback and ideas about the hellscape they found themselves in. She cast her speculations aside, and did her best to focus on the reality that laid ahead of her.

    When the day came, she balled up her fingers to a fist. Was she ready? With a heavy breath, she put to rest a feud in her heart.

    Yes, she resolved. Ready as I’ll ever be.

    Time on the internet had exposed Ren to new ideas and views, sometimes even challenging her internalized conservatism. Her views on life may generally be considered progressive to most. While she may struggle to find her placement on controversial issues, she resolves to give the benefit of doubt to other parties and attempts to hear them out readily.

    Ren takes an appreciation to the beauty of life, art and culture. She easily raises an empathetic thought from observations of others, and tries to read people to understand their deeper implications. During discussions, she finds ease in looking at things from another's perspective, save for those infringing on her own personal beliefs.

    Loyal 
    Ren values her personal relationships and attempts to reciprocate them in kind. Her devotion to a cause is difficult to build, but also difficult to waver. She holds major choices she’s made close to her heart despite the grief that they might have brought, but given the offer, she would most often reject the idea of going back on them.

    When it comes to training or approaching others, Ren has had a changed track record from none to some. She'll more likely than not readily approach someone who looks to be in need of help, chalking up her confidence to her time and experience as an adventurer.     – Reckless
    Ren may take calculations into consideration, but she’s not amazing at math. Her judgement often results in her standing for emotional causes rather than logical ones. She also misplaces her confidence on occasion, resulting in undesired outcomes.

    – Gruff
    A solemn expression can frequently be spotted on Ren’s face. It often makes her appear unapproachable, despite being otherwise. This fact is often not on her mind, leading Ren to ponder why her companions might feel tense around her.

    – Squeamish
    Having been raised in an overly sanitized environment, Ren is withdrawn to the idea of external, foreign contact. Sights like viscous liquids, bugs, gore and horror are off the table, to name a few. This, unfortunately, extends to simple nature like plants and trees, and Ren wouldn’t be caught touching them without, at least, some gloves.

    – Depressive
    Ren copes with unfavorable situations by beating herself up mentally over her inabilities. She acts as her own worst critic, and scratches at the scabs and wounds of the past, shedding tears and blood anew. When she's in a state of unrest, Ren can be most commonly found avoiding her duties or friends, save for confidants she trusts.

    • Ren wasn't given an English name at birth. This practice is practiced by most modern Singaporeans, however some Chinese families avoid doing it for tradition's sake.
    • In Ren Jun Hui (任俊慧), Ren (任) is her surname, while Jun Hui (俊慧) is her given name.
    • Despite this, Ren goes by her family name as she imagines her real name to be embarrassing/vain.
    • This is because, as a name, Jun Hui (俊慧) represents the following blessings from the family to their child:
      • Ren (任) --- Responsibility
      • Jun (俊) --- Capable, Handsome
      • Hui (慧) --- Beautiful, Intelligent

    • Ren speaks only a tinge of Mandarin. In secondary school, she opted to receive basic Mandarin lessons as opposed to the mainstream due to the extent of struggle she had with the curriculum.

This odachi came in a dark wooden case alongside its replica, only scarcely bordered by a sheet of glass above it. A dark steel blade laced with red and white etchings, the sword is slightly curved around its length, with a marking of a crescent moon near near its guard. It's incredibly ornate, making it difficult to wield with practicality.

    A black broadsword; large, heavy and sturdy. The edge is lined with silver, and its guards are decorated with gold. It looks like it's been sharpened to a tee, so handle it with care.
    • NIGHT's first sword. Forged by Yukiro. Its fine craftsmanship, design and sentimentality causes NIGHT to hold it in high regard.
  • Tobi-Kadachi
    [#131914] | TIER 2 PERFECT 2HSS | PARALYZE II, KEEN I
    A thinner, sleeker guillotine that curves slightly at its edge. The blade is black, sullen with holes down the center of its steel. Tough iridescent scales line the side of the sword's rainguard, while bandages and fur wrap around its hilt, lending a solid grip's hold to its user.
    • Forged by Macradon, NIGHT primarily wielded this blade during her ascent through Tier 2. It's been altered with the use of a name tag, its original appearance tainted by her Gemini, and the blade's first form still haunts NIGHT in her nightmares to this day.
  • Tiger-fanged Faussar
    [#131922] | TIER 2 PERFECT 2HSS | PARALYZE II, BLEED I
    A clean, black blade with layers of orange reflective stripes weaved into its metalwork. Polished to a tee, at the sword's end, it curves out into a hook, the edge fading from dark metal to a muddy mix of cream and white. The lighter portion juts out with tiny waved ridges, capable of tearing skin and flesh.
    • A sibling of Tobi-Kadachi, this blade acted as a secondary weapon for NIGHT during her Tier 2 days. It acts as a springboard of support, but the weapon is generally unremarkable. Still, paired side-by-side with its brethren, NIGHT would say she'd prefer this sword over its counterpart.
