No sooner had the others smashed the large guardian, than Nari found herself dodging around it uselessly - her own strikes going wide as the thing seemed to anticipate and avoid her attempts at striking it. She only gave it a few seconds of her time, before stepping back and sighing heavily. She'd come to what was clearly a fight that she simply couldn't keep up with - and trying to maintain her own presence in it was becoming more tedious than useful. Instead, she focused on her teammates - making sure none of them were overly injured, and considering a retort to the pink-haired woman's statements.

"Well, I can't say that I wouldn't mind a spanking...in the right setting. That being said, I'm not so sure here and now is-" She stepped aside as an attack lashed out towards her, likely targeting the pink-haired woman that Nari kept stepping in front of, using her own body as a shield as much as she was avoiding the attacks themselves. "-the right time or place for it. Maybe later?"

She didn't try to hide the grin on her face, content in her own humour, although unsure if she was bothering the others with her commentary. Still, she couldn't stop herself from saying what came to mind, and found herself at least somewhat entertained with the back and forth. She glanced over at Star and Kat, making sure that the two were still holding out without issue, before calling out to them. "Seems I'm a bit...useless here...sorry!"

"No sweat," Morningstar called back to Nari, "do your thing."

He weaved in another attack, this time activating Shatter and crippling Azriel's mitigation. The Fiend of Tanos was left with a sliver of hit points; another attack and he would be defeated. Morningstar blocked a reactive attack from their opponent. Their blades clashed, the sound of metal ringing through the cold mountain air. He had grown physically stronger but the blonde expected it was out of desperation rather than a stat boost.

He looked at Katoka. The dungeon boss was fully open and, so long as he could hold it off a bit longer, she was free to take it down. Azriel was far larger and heavier than Morningstar. They pushed against each other, their weapons interlocked and threatening to finish one and other off. The weight of the behemoth crushed down on Morningstar and, if it wasn't for the voice in the back of his head urging him to keep going, he might have crumpled to the ground.

Kat was already moving before she fully traded looks with Star. She flanked the demon as it's attention was turned elsewhere, advancing from behind as a blue light radiated from her katana. She struck Azriel at the heel, severing his tendon and causing him to drop to one knee. His health dropped even more, just a few pixels remaining, teasing the samurai as if to say she was a fool to even try. She clicked her tongue in frustration, he was a lot tougher than she anticipated.

Her gaze shot to Mina, even if she missed her attack the menagerie of DoTs on the boss would surly finish him off for her. "You're up pink!" she called to her companion. Katoka was frustrated that she couldn't finish him off, but this wasn't the time for that. She would apologize properly afterwards. For now she readied herself in case she needed to attack once more.

"Aww, you're such a tease!" Violet snarked, dodging Azriel's frantic swings, the massive demon still aggroed in on the pinkette. "And don't sweat it, I'm still alive and kicking despite that jackass's best attempts~" Kataoka and Morningstar had both charged in, swiping at it to try and clean out the last little bit of health it had. The bar dropped into the Yellow, and then the red... their teamwork was becoming immaculate.

Azriel was still swinging though, and was currently trying to crush Star under its claws, the poor guy having drawn the giant demon's attention for just long enough that it was trying to kill him for just a moment.

Violet wasn't going to even bother trying to hit the boss monster, her eyes honing in on the steadily draining health bar hovering just underneath its cursor. she raised an eyebrow at Kat, silently questioning the nickname. "Pink...? Seriously?" she said, shaking her head. "C'mon, I know you've got a better nickname for me than that, dude. If you can't come up with something, just call me Mina. literally everyone and their mother calls me that."

Azriel has been slain by DoTs. . .

As the final opponent burst into shards, Nari found herself pondering the group. The trio of damage dealers were working well together. Aside from Mina taking a collection of strikes that could, in hindsight, have been avoided if Nari had been involved in her role more appropriately. She was still chiding herself for the lack of protection that she had offered, when her ears suddenly perked up at the commentary from Mina. Smiling to herself, knowing that the woman would likely hate the comments, she raised her spear slightly, as if saluting.

"Congrats to the Pink Knight for their victory over the dangerous Fiend of Tanos, Azriel! Long may your pinkness lay as a protection over the lands, swallowing anything that comes to threaten the Pinkies of Pinkland." She waited for the woman's response, her own grin split wide. The others had appeared well off, for the most part, but the glance she had shot towards Mina had confirmed that the combatant had taken a bit of a beating in the last fight, and Nari knew there was a danger to be had in that. "Should we take a moment to allow Mina to recover a bit before charging onwards? It would be rather tragic if she were to fall here, all things considered..."

Not bad, he thought.

Azriel, Fiend of Tanos had fallen. They were victorious and with little more than a health scare. Morningstar's gaze fell to the temple. Darkness stopped him from peering too far inside. If he wanted to examine its contents, he had no choice but to enter.

Would there be more foes to face on the inside or had the Fiend been the last obstacle in his path?

Had there been more, he assumed they would have followed up on Azriel's defeat. It made little sense to him for there to be more to fight after what was essentially a final boss. Still, he kept his blade ready. He looked over at his group. Nari was right: there was no point in looking for trouble when Mina's health was so low.

But the temple, standing tall before them, was his real reason for coming to the mountains.

He held back a sigh. "Yeah, we should break. There's a field boss not far from here. We can recover while we walk, if you three have the time."

It would be best for him to search alone, anyways.

Katoka held back a laugh at Nari's jabs at Mina, she was beginning to warm up to this lot. She returned her sword to it's sheath at her side and brushed herself off, inspecting herself for any injuries she may have missed. She then approached Morningstar, "Nice work in there, I think we worked pretty well together." she patted him on the shoulder, "I look forward to fighting with you in the raid."

The group made their way out of the temple and back onto the path they had originally taken, their goal now turning to recovering while on the hunt for the local field boss. Kat was excited, she hadn't been on a hunt quite like this before. One fight after another, it was exciting to her. In the past she had always been too scared to go too far, to overexert her self with one thing after another. Now she was prepping for a floor raid, her equipment and stats now top tier.

She smiled to herself. It was nice to be here with new people, learning how to fight together.

"Pink knight, huh..? wooow, sure haven't heard that one before." she grumbled, rolling her eyes at Nari. "At least I know you're gonna be somewhat entertaining to the other Clearers. Much more lively than people like Calrex or Shield... hell, probably even rai now that I think about it." She thought about the brunette, and his stoic-yet-banter-filled disposition during the less serious moments of the Raid she'd participated in. The fighting would easily get boring if they didn't have their banter, though hopefully it didn't end up like what occured during the Gabrandr raid. if she had to witness one more instance of players bickering over the semantics of whether or not an NPC would lie to them, she was going to go feral.

She perked up when she heard Kataoka mention that she was also prepping for the raid. "Maa... did I really stumble upon a trio of Clearers..?" she mused, a sharp grin on her face. "Can't wait to see what all of you are capable of~ It's not everyday that I see brand new faces making their way up the lines!" Freyd hadn't mentioned any rookies specifically that were joining the Raid, just that there were a bunch of old faces that weren't going to be present for the whole shebang. "Maybe you guys will hold up with the likes of Yuki or Baldur~ oh, the thought has me excited!"

They could always use more time to recover, but Nari had spotted the rambling mound of giant vegetation-made-form striding towards them, far from indistinguishable against the backdrop that was the remainder of the floor. She glanced at her party display, sizing up their current situation. She knew that Mina could use a bit more rest, but at the same time she watched as the rumbling mound began to move away from them.

Making her decision, she leapt forwards and rushed towards the thing, calling back as she went. "Alright, patch yourself up and get ready, we're going in hard and fast here. Before it gets away!"

The last thing she wanted was to have to chase down the thing across the floor after someone else, or something else managed to engage it. They'd spent enough time here as it was, and Nari was feeling the calling itch of home in her mind. As she came within reach of the thing - or at least the reach of it's attention - she called out, activating her skill set even as she shouted at the thing. "In the name of the Pink Knightess and her retinue, we demand you lay down and surrender yourself to the inevitable demise that awaits you, creature that is forever haunting this world!"

Morningstar had become accustomed to Nari's strange words she would string together before each battle. She would have made a good actor, he thought.

Besides that, it was the perfect distraction for the blonde and his party. He took the lead, a blur as he danced in an arc around the Ancient. He attacked from its flank, hoping to take it by surprise.

If he had, there was no way to tell. It stood tall and still as the effects of Morningstar's blade ran through its old body. Paralysis overtook it and suddenly, it acted as the mountains that surrounded it. 

Such a creature seemed to him a god and yet, here it was, commanded to stop by the act of a mortal. How long could it last? He signaled to his party to follow up and a shiver ran up his spine. The beast stirred, incapable of fighting but still fully aware of the ants that challenged it.

The sheer size of the boss stunned Katoka for a fraction of a second. She had fought large things from time to time, however this one was ... Off to her. Her senses were on point when they all get close to the towering giant and saw the tier lock status effect appear on her hud. "Damn," she thought to herself, "this guy should be interesting." As the boss took a step in their direction the ground shook, causing Kat to ever so slightly loose her balance. She has made started in after Morningstar attacked and only just managed to nick her target on the foot. She saw it's health bar inch down and she clicked her tongue in frustration.

"So I guess this guy is going to be a pain in the ass huh?" she said to her companions. This would be a slow progress with how tough The Ancient's mitigation was. "Anyone got a Shatter up their sleeve?"

Seal | On an MD 9-10, the boss will stun the Player with the highest hate, hitting them for 50 additional unmitigatable DMG.
Disruption | Using Purify on <<The Ancient>> will remove any stacks of <<Self Sustained>>.
Self Sustained | On an LD 15+, <<The Ancient>> will not attack and instead will increase his DMG by 25, as well as heal 200 HP. The DMG buff stacks up to three times.
The Elder | On a CD 10+, <<The Ancient>> will cleanse all status conditions it’s afflicted with, as well as become immune to all incoming ones for two turns. Once the buff is over, it can only occur again after three turns have passed.
Tier Lock | For the duration of the fight, all of the participants’ stats that scale with Tier are calculated as though they’re Tier 3. [DMG/MIT/BLEED enhancements etc.] This skill only locks downward. Those at Tier 1 or T2 will still have T1 or T2 stats, respectively.
