[EV-PP-29] Honey Bun Run <<Fatal Error: Act 1>>

It wasn't a victory, but at least it once again stood a chance of becoming one.  As players from all corners of Aincrad rallied against the proliferating tides of glass and madness, the front lines found themselves gaining ground thanks to a few choice enemy defeats.  Organizing themselves into parties best suited to their respective tasks, Freyd had joined up with a few trusted friends to break the enemy lines near Donoghue's Inn & Tavern.  Not yet familiar with the area, they would have to improvise, as all had been forced to do since first setting foot on this accursed floor.

"Wulfrin.  Stop blowing her kisses and keep your eyes sharp."  The advice was sound, though the Whisper's tone was more lighthearted than any of them had heard in a while.  Shattering more than a few Spectral Knights had definitely livened the mood and improved morale.  Grief and mourning would come later, once the cloud of annihilation had passed.  Until then, even smirk and jibe that coaxed a laugh was fair game, and precious fodder in the field.

In addition to Menagerie II buffs, the maximum number of familiars guild members can tame narratively is five (5). Guild officials may also appoint a familiar mascot, shared between their guild members to accompany them narratively in their threads.

"Bruh," Wulfrin replied to the playful jab from his mentor. "Sorry I'm enjoying the one bit of sunshine in the warzone."

Since she had arrived to the floor a fresh frontline tank, his wife Ciela had been a shining beacon for Wulfrin. New fresh crafted armor designed to absorb even the sharpest of bear claws and lash back with biting cold and raging fire. She was meant to be the unstoppable force of their duo. Then Wulfrin immediately threw it all out the window. Amidst the chaos of the raging battle before them, Wulfrin gave Ciela a crash course on all things DPS.

Ciela had approached him about helping with the knight problem, and Wulfrin's assessment of these new mobs was... not great. While Ciela was built to be a wall, her health pool wasn't enough to soak up too much extra. Wulfrin's plan was a wild one. He had taken a brief break at the Tracker's forward base on 29 to throw together a suit of armor he had planned to use himself. After throwing an entirely new kit at her followed by an assortment of consumables, curtesy of Bistro and Damien,  he had turned a heavy tank into a tactical nuke.

"It'll all pay off," Wulfrin smirked towards Freyd as he began his own preparations. "If she hits, she could possibly out damage all of us. The only thing I can't do is instill her with crit luck."

Morningstar was unfamiliar with the surroundings of Donoghue's. It wasn't an area he had come to before. Not that he wasn't curious; other things simply took precedence, such as the relocation of his guild hall, and Willow's birthday, and the mahjong tournament in Yomi, and...

Wow, his calendar was packed. Anyone wishing to meet with him was probably booking way into the next year. It was time for a change, probably, but that would have to wait until after they killed the Spectral Knight that marched towards them.

He yawned. It had been a day, and he had grown tired of Cardinal's favourite new toys. Their cloning, their splintering attacks. It was all growing bothersome to Morningstar. He yearned for a nap.

But how was he supposed to fit that into his schedule? He was booked solid until       /      /         . Maybe he could close his eyes for a minute in between knights...

The whole affair was beginning to feel a tad formulaic, mostly because he'd long since cracked the code on how to shatter the Knight's defenses, quite literally.  An initial surge would see the giants falter, Reliq's unique talents providing an effective internal counter as he wrought destruction on their innards.  Freyd just needed to provide the little mimic with access.  Mayhem would follow.  Maybe it was his familiar's natural talents for infiltrating and possessing objects that protected him but he seemed completely immune to the Knight's corruptive abilities.

Maybe he's just too zany to realize it's supposed to affect him, Freyd thought to himself, slashing into predetermined weak points.  Vanguard's duties done, he stepped back, ready to intervene but also providing the rest of his allies the room they required to do what they did best.

"It's vulnerable.  Have at it, gang."

Circling around, without breaking line of sight, Freyd was already maneuvering for the second step in this particular recipe.  Spectral Knight: battered, not stirred.

  • Splinter | Whenever the Spectral Knight critically hits (BD 9-10), its attack instead only deals 50 mitigated damage and 60 unmitigated damage to the entire party as the weapon splinters into a sharpened spray. This attack applies all applicable DoT's to all targets when this occurs.
  • Mist Body | Natural BD 9 attacks made against Spectral Knight will no longer automatically hit and will use accuracy & damage calculations as normal due to the Spectral Knight bending and twisting to allow dangerous attacks to pass harmlessly through. The hit is treated as a non-critical hit, and all enhancements that would activate on a natural BD 9 (bleed, holy, burn, freeze) will not trigger when this occurs.
  • Attempted Rewrite | On a CD 10+, the Spectral Knight will find another NPC nearby and manufacture that NPC into a clone of itself with the same stat block including remaining hit points and any applied status effects.
  • Tier Lock | For the duration of the fight, all of the participants’ stats that scale with Tier are calculated as though they’re Tier 4. [DMG/MIT/BLEED enhancements etc.] This skill only locks downward. Those at Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3 will still have T1, T2, or T3 stats, respectively.

Wulfrin watched as Freyd effortlessly around the knight before them. Clearly Freyd was familiar with their movements more so than Wulfrin. Not a surprising fact since Wulfrin had only faced off with one of them and it went down before it got to do anything. Unfamiliar tentacles wrapped around the knight holding it in place similar to how Persi used to do. If this was a new familiar for Freyd, Wulfrin desperately wanted to keep this one alive. Wulfrin's blade erupted in a controversial torrent of ice and fire as he charged forward. Following in his wake, a crimson phoenix with golden plumage soared in perfect unison, the two of them ravaging the knight with unrelenting fiery wrath.

"Morningstar tell you the mobs on this floor are corrupted NPCs?" Wulfrin asked as he slid to a stop next to his mentor, Freyd. "We learned that tidbit of knowledge from the lighthouse. Haven't gotten a chance to blast it since these things started attacking pretty much directly after."
