PP - F1 Now to Prepare (Calrex / Oikawa / Teayre)

OOC:Sorry it's taken so long, had RL things I needed to sort out

A small cry echoes from Teayre's mouth as she sees Calrex get torn into by the boar,

"Cal..."

Following his movement she braces herself expecting the worst as Calrex's HP bar drops turning orange, her shoulders drop slightly as she juts her chin out when the bar stopped. Her sword flashes in her hand as she slices towards the boar, making contact along the flank.

"We might be able to do this, but definitely need to sort out our health and rest for a bit inside the town after though."

OOC: IRL troubles sorry for the extreme late reply. But I'm back and ready to go.

IC:

Noticing his friends in trouble, Oikawa snapped out of his gaze. Drawing his weapon, He ran into the fray. Launching into the air, Oikawa thrusted his weapon at the boar.

#7482 10-3-17-10

Instead of just thrusting however, Oikawa more or less crashed into the boar, killing it and injuring himself. (Dealt 7 damage and received 1 damage[ +1 Evasion or 10-1=9 and minus 4 damage because of mitigation].)

Wiping off the digital blood from his rapier, Oikawa noticed there was a small loot drop. "Either of you can have it since I was tardy to the party. My deepest apologies, I have no clue what got into me." Hoping they accepted his apology, he waited for one of them to claim the loot.

Boar: -6/9  DEAD

Teayre 4/5

Calrex: 4/9

OOC: Gotta have the badass who comes late to the fight :)

"Don't worry about it, could it of been connection problems? who know's how long we've been in this game now... Sorry I wasn't much use... I never seem to be"

Slowly a small shimmer crosses her eye as droplets begin to form, suddenly she raises her head...

"Cal!"

Dashing over to him, she spreads her arms before briefly squeezing Calrex and letting go.

"Are you okay? You're not too hurt are you? Let's go get some ice cream, you take the loot... I didn't help much... I got in the way more... I'm sorry."

As she finished speaking the condensation at her eyes began to slowly roll down her cheeks, glistening in the sun that was slowly setting,"

OOC: Lol course you've gotta be fashionably late XD. No worries dude!

IC:

Calrex gave a quick sigh of relief when out of the corner of his eye he saw Oikawa charge forward. Although his form seemed a bit odd, it did more than enough of a job to kill the boar. As it disintegrated into small particles Calrex looked over to see Teayre dash over and check if he was okay.

"Yeah, I'm fine, don't worry about me. Are you alright? You seem to have taken more damage overall than I did."

As Teayre went off into her self-loathing speech Calrex calmly shook his head and patted hers, "Don't worry, this was a first encounter for both of us, so it wasn't too off the mark that we would have some trouble."

Calrex sheathed his sword as he looked at the drop, "Here, you can have the drop. I can make do with what I've got so far, and there's always more where it came from."

"I'll need to practice my technique. All of my strikes flew clear of a hit. So either I'm swinging way off the mark or even the basic creatures are moving faster than I can keep up."

He walked back over to Oikawa, "Talk about a quick save. Thanks for bailing us out of that jam. What do you think we should do next?"

OOC: Timing is everything!

IC:

As Teayre started bawling and giving a very emotional speech, Oikawa just smirked. Well at least they're okay. I don't know what I would have done if eiother of them died. Especially on my watch.

"... bailing us out of that jam. What do you think we should do next?" Snapping him from his thoughts, he replied. "Well that was a bit of a close encounter and that's my fault. How about i treat you guys to some food and then we can get back to training? Since you guys are still fairly new I can't have you out here suicide training?" Chuckling, he turned towards the gates leading back to the city. "Unless you guys are beyond confident, I think we should refuel then we can find some wolves to smack around."

Those two are cute haha, reminds me of Miss Susano and Raeyliff...he thought as he once again trailed off into thought.

As Calrex places his hand on Teayre's head she shuts her eyes and shakes her head, tears flowing freely she wraps her arms around him.

"Let's split what loot there is, you took much more damage than me." She points at the bar above Calrex's head, "Look it's even in the orange, why did you take so much damage... Honestly...." She begins to grip even tighter.

"Well at least he didn't die, no ones ever offered me their hand before..."

"I don't mind what we do, but food does sound good, would one of you be able to show me how to use the level up system I'm not sure on what to do."

Finally letting go of Calrex, she looks him in the eye, before closing her lids slowly and turning round to face Oikawa.

"Also..." Teayre's eyes widen before a scowl crosses over her face. "Next time don't steal the kill, we almost had that boar! But... thanks though."

Calrex nodded as Oikawa and Teayre suggested they had back into town and get some good. When Teayre inquired about how he took so much damage, he decided to respond with a hand behind his head.

"I'm guessing that my mind's not completely synced with my avatar. My strikes seemed to be just a hair off or a split second late. I'm sure it'll fix itself once I get used to the system a little bit more. In the meantime food definitely sounds like a good idea. We'd best not try and get overzealous just yet with our training."

"Or else things could go real bad very quickly..."

Oikawa turned to face the duo again, allowing Teayre to playfully scold him about stealing the kill. Waving his hands and shaking his head in an apologetic fashion, Oikawa stammered "My apologies! My apologies!" Scratching his head, Oikawa replied to Cal's comment, "Yeah we shouldn't press our luck. I nearly died once to a stupid frickin boar. Those things have RNGesus on their side I swear. Lets head to the Starlight Cafe. It's one of my faves." Turning on his heel, he gestured for the two to follow him.

Oikawa entered the the city, and checked to make sure his companions hadn't been dragged off by ravenous wolves. "Come on you slowpokes! I want strawberry creme pie!"

"Come on Cal, let's go!"
Grabbing Calrex's hand Teayre dashes off following Oikawa,
"Do they do Strawberry Sundaes? They're my favourite!"

Suddenly stopping and turning around her face dropping

"The loot! How could we forget? Cal, you take it."

Letting out a sigh of relief, she begins to hum to herself.

"I'm glad we got through that safely, I don't know if I can trust either of them yet... It could be a ruse to PK me, but then you never know. Images from the fight flash through her mind of her past and how honest Calrex seems."

Slowly a tear falls down her cheek, whilst a smile slowly spreads across her face.

"Oh right, I forgot about that."

Calrex looked over the loot screen. Since it was for a simple monster, it only contained a single item in it's inventory.

Loot:

1x Boar Tusk

"Not really sure what I can use this for, but I guess since we can't really split the item we'll have to make do."

"I'll get this one, but if we do another battle tonight you get the next drop."

Calrex tapped the blue circle and accepted the item. Nodding to Teayre he speedily followed after Oikawa.

"Hm, well that's new. Haven't seen him get super excited just yet for food. I wonder what it's like in the game compared to the real world."

Oikawa looked over his shoulder, just as the duo arrived inside the gates. "Come on it just off the main road here" motioning towards a small shop not more than 50 feet away. "Oh and to answer your question Teardrop," addressing Teayre, "Yes the do make strawberry sundaes. There desserts are just ... out of this world!" Hugging his sides, Oikawa began to drool a little bit at the thought of the strawberry creme pie.

Straightening himself up, he eyed the other two. "Sorry about that, I just really love strawberry creme pie!" They arrived at the cafe shortly after. Opening the doors, he arranged for them to have a booth, and asked the waitress to give them a minute as they pondered over what they would get. Oikawa was very sure of what he wanted, but as this was his treat, he had to wait for the others to order.

Sliding into the booth that Oikawa selected Teayre flicks through the menu picking the Strawberry Sundae as her choice before offering the menu around.

"Anyone had any news on when that raid is going ahead? I know I need a lot more practise before we go though?"

Sighing she rests her head on a hand before gazing out of the window next to her humming the same song as earlier.

"I guess we're all stuck here until someone clears the game... Maybe we can win first? I don't know... I hope everyone's okay back home."

Calrex observed as Oikawa showed his affection for strawberry cream pie, feeling a bead of sweat go down the back of his head.

"Well...he's certainly enthusiastic about the pie here. I guess that's a good sign."

He followed the others inside as the they were escorted to a booth. He took a seat on the side closer to the door, looking at the menu.

"Hm...What should I get. I guess since it's a cafe they'd be more likely to do sweets rather than savory things so..."

He decided to get a bowl of chocolate ice cream and a small coffee before setting the menu in the center of the table.

"From what I remember Celes was going to get it arranged, so once we were done with our preparations we just need to let her know so that we can meet up."

Calrex looked around the cafe. It wasn't a very large one, but the single floor was well accommodating and the people working there seemed to be enthusastic about the job, although whether that was by choice or preference he could not tell. He guessed that at least a couple of the workers preferred to stay in the city and work at the cafe than out in the fields where they could possibly die to monster or player killer attack.

"To keep that from happening...I've gotta get stronger first. That's what this is all for, preparation for the grand plan of escaping this death game."

Oikawa called the waitress over and relayed the orders to her. Once done with that he turned to face the other two. "So how'd you enjoy your first bout with a MoB? Nasty little buggers aren't they? I know I wasn't much help due to my connectivity issues or whatever, but in a way it was good for you guys to see just how close you can come to death in this game." Letting the comment sink in, he continued, "This game is full of surprises and you have to be prepared for everything. Whether it's Boss Raids or Weather Conditions, this game is harsh and you will die if you aren't careful. And the sad thing is, it's now our reality." Pausing for a bit he noticed he had changed the mood. "Sorry to dampen the mood, push those thoughts aside and let's enjoy the good stuff this game offers" As if on cue the waitress arrived with their sweets.

"Ahhhh strawberry creme pie! " Grabbing his fork Oikawa dug in. "This... is.. the best! " he exclaimed through forkfuls of pie.

"Oh and to answer your question Teardrop, I haven't heard from anyone about the raid. I hope we still go through with it though. I was looking forward to adventuring with new people. I guess we should notify Celes, like Cal said, when were done with our training. Hopefully she'll still be down for it!"

"Huh?" Turning round after staring out the window seemingly lost in thought. "It was... interesting, certainly harder than I thought a first level mob would be." Yawning and stretching her arms out overhead. "However it's a good eye open into how serious the game is, we aren't here for a stroll in the park as you said this is our reality now. It does mean that although we are stuck here it is our life so we should make the most of it as we don't know how long it's going to last, we need to think we are still human even if we are trapped here by a mad man."

Pulling her sundae towards her she begins to tuck into it, pausing occasionally for a breath now and then. "I personally think that whilst we do need to clear the game, we need to remember to enjoy ourselves whilst doing it... It's like the ultimate game, we can only trust those around us to look after our real bodies... Sorry..."

As she finishes speaking Teayre begins to cry yet again.

"My parents, my family... They never respected me and look at where I am now. Well let's see how it goes, I may of found a couple of people to trust although I'd better make sure first before I do truly put my life in their hands."

Stifled by her sobbing Teayre eventually gets out. "I've... H-h-heard about p-p-p-player k-killers or something and and in this world... I'm... I'm scared..." Fading to a whisper as she finished speaking whilst bringing her legs up to her chest and begins to hug them rocking back and forth slowly.

"Player-killer...PKers...hm..."

"I guess even in a game where death is real, people like that still exist. Guess some really can't resist the urge can they."

Calrex gave a sigh after hearing Teayre's strained statement. Going from the way she was acting, it seemed like she possibly had some trouble before entering the game.

"Don't want to think too far, but maybe a troubled household, or some traumatic event...oh well I won't pry. If anything that'll have to be set on the side until we manage to get out of this game."

"Well, I can't give a good reason to feel safe from those people just yet, but going from how other PKers act in other games they would mainly target players that would be considered easy targets to gain experience or ones that are carrying possibly important items. Since we've got neither of those so far, I wouldn't think we have too much reason to worry in the meantime."

He looked over at Oikawa as he spoke once again, "Since Oikawa has more experience in this world, I wonder if he's encountered any PKers so far."

"Have you encountered any? From what I remember of the manual the crystals over our heads are normally blue, but once we kill a player it will turn orange. Continue to do so and it will turn red right?"

"I can't really say I'm against killing in self-defense against these people, but I wonder if there's any penalties that coincide with changing your notoriety."

Oikawa had just finished his pie when Teayre begin to cry again. Wanting to comfort her somehow, Oikawa tried to find the words. Cal beat him to the punch. "I couldn't have said it much better than that. Gazing at them, he spoke. "Like Cal said, I can't guarantee your safety, or even give you reason while you should feel safe aside from the fact your protected by these walls, but from what I do know, is that the only way I feel safe, is by constantly getting stronger. I won't allow PKers or MoB's to take what I cherish. If they do, it better be over my dead body." Shifting his glance more towards Cal, he responded to his question. "As a matter of fact I've encountered 2 Player Killers, one is my current senpai, Keith Yudai, and the other is a fellow I met in the outskirts of floor 4 by the name of Asen. Not all PKers are bad people. Some just get tagged for the things they had to do to protect themselves or the ones they love. As for our crystals, yes the start out blue, proceed to orange on you're first infringement but here's a discrepancy. If you're orange, you can take the Redemption Quest once. If you succeed the quest, you go back to being a blue crystal green player. However if you kill again, after redemption, you'll be labeled a red player for the rest of your time on Aincrad."

Gasping for a little breath, Oikawa looked around. "Sorry for that winded speech"

"I... I see... Well there's only one way to... to be sure I... Sorry, we don't die. That's to train hard so... If If we do end up hav... having to fight another player... We won't die."

A steely glint comes across Teayre's eyes as she finishes speaking, her arms visibly tighten around her knees and the rocking stops. "I guess I don't have much of a choice I need to survive, I need to survive for my sister, so she doesn't go through what I did..."

"Oikawa, Cal shall we go out and do some more training if we're all rested enough, I need to become stronger... Then once we've got enough money get ourselves equipped enough from a decent shop perhaps before the raid, anything to survive this game."

As she finishes speaking tears are rolling down her cheeks freely, but her words are crystal clear and full of determination. She begins to fall towards Calrex, still curled into her sphere.

Calrex took in all of the information that Oikawa gave about PKers and notoriety, as well as the Redemption Quest he mentioned.

"So we're technically allowed to kill only once before we permanently become red players for the rest of the game. I see...I guess that means you really need to make it count should you do so then, because doing so has consequences, just like outside of this game. I wonder if that's that the creator of this game had in mind. He's really trying to make this almost a second reality."

When Teayre suggested further training after their respite in the cafe, Calrex nodded his head, "I agree. Once we're finished and ready to go here, let's try and get moving up in levels as fast as we can, at least enough so that we can defend ourselves from attack."

"There's just one more thing I'm thinking of. Are there any changes to the game should one become a red player? Normally there's some kind of deficit to player killing, like being unable to use towns as safe zones and such, at least from what I remember of other games."

"If there isn't any, there wouldn't be as strong of a reason to become one, because then you would be targeted by blue players immediately when you enter a town. Since I haven't seen any at all, it means they're either only on the upper floors...or avoiding cities altogether."

"Further training and leveling always sounds good. Also let me clarify, once you become an orange player you can still kill all you want. It's when you decide to complete the redemption quest, succeed, then kill again that you become a red player. As far as I know, there is no further repercussions for becoming a red player, besides everyone knowing you're a murderous jackass that kills for no reason. Sorry excuse my language,"he said while shaking his head to clear his thoughts. Wanting to lighten the mood he touched on Teayre's previous comment about stronger armor. "Guys I'm also a blacksmith, don't you ever hesitate to stop by and suit up! Since I like you guys I can give discounts so just stop by if you need something!" Pushing his finished plate forwards, he placed his chin on his folded arms. "So about this training. You guys want to train like just killing boars and stuff or do you actually want to do a quest?"
