Seeing another opening present itself Calrex quickly rushed in, switching the Frozen Fang Blade into a hammer grip as he got into striking range. The Banshee seemed to be starting to move once again, so he felt he needed to act fast before it was able to dodge again. Quickly thrusting his sword forward he managed to stab the monster before it was able to move, gaining another hit on the creature before it flew back to gain some distance.

"Alright, it's almost at half health now. If we can keep up this pressure it should fall very soon. We just need to be careful of its counter attacks. Any critical hits that thing can inflict could possibly be dangerous."

Battle Dice: 8 -2= 6, 5 damage & bleed activated

Tristan's attack followed just after Calrex's, the spear jutting out towards the Banshee. The enemy tried to evade, but it ended up still slashing their shoulder, also leaving an open wound which openly bled. Tristan smiled as while it wasn't paralysed, but still being damaged by the bleed, which would help a lot. Tristan was ready to take on any attack coming for him, shield in front of him to protect himself from any possible attacks.

Seeing Tristan's spear trigger yet another Bleed effect on the Banshee Calrex made note of the fact it triggered on a regular hit, "Huh, it looks like his spear is balanced differently than the Frozen Fang Blade. Mine is focused more on Paralyze, while his is weighted more towards Bleed. I guess in this situation that turns out to be beneficial. Alright then it's my turn now."

Flicking the Frozen Fang Blade into a reverse grip Calrex looked as the blade seemed to give off a faint frosty appearance from the edge. While not the jagged edge from before, it was different from the usual steel appearance, "A trigger? Alright better not waste this."

Using his <<Sprint>> ability once again he quickly closed the distance to the Banshee, which tried to scratch at Tristan with is talon-like nails, only to have them miss inches from his shield, a futile attempt even if she had managed to get into striking range. At the same time Calrex placed his free hand on the end of his swords handle as he used both hands to swing the blade in a full 360 slash. The blade smashed into the creature, sending her flying backwards before becoming stuck where she landed. The familiar lightning bolt icon of the Paralyze effect appeared as Calrex went back into his combat stance, "Alright go for it!"

Tristan smiled at Calrex's strike and wasted no time to take the declared opportunity, running forward and slamming the head of the spear into the chest of the opponent, virtual pixels representing blood spilling around and both the bleed and paralysis affecting them, all the while having the added damage of the bleed refreshed and damaging the opponent. Tristan looked at Calrex and said "Same for you, the opportunity is there up for grabs.". He chuckled and readied himself for the next attack after Calrex, seeing as it was paralyzed so couldn't attack.

"Heh, well let's see if I can take advantage of it."

Rushing forward once again Calrex prepared a vertical strike, planning to cleave a bisecting strike on the Banshee. Unfortunately as his blade fell the creature temporarily fell out of his vision as the sword blocked her from view before heading the sword whiff air, slamming the tip into the ground. He quickly extracted his sword before leaping back, taking note that the creature was still Paralyzed with the Bleed effect persisting, "Shoot, was a hair off that time. Alright go for it Tristan!"

"It should be getting back up in a few seconds. I'd best be ready to attempt another Paralyze strike."

Tristan nodded to Calrex and wasted no time to strike, running forward and then lunging the spear into the Banshees other shoulder, a cry resounding when it struck home and damaged them. Sadly there was no paralysis or open wounds created like the others, but nonetheless it was damage and meant that they were sooner to getting this done. "Not too long now." he commented as the bosses lifebar gradually went down with their attacks, while theirs were nigh untouched.

"Yeah, let's finish this thing off."

Calrex rushed back in as the Banshee recovered from the Paralyze effect, attempting to scratch at Tristan once again. However, its talons once again fell short as it flailed at the air a few paces from the shield. "Heh, I guess getting Paralyzed over and over can really mess with your coordination, even if you're controlled by an AI."

Twirling the Frozen Fang Blade into a hammer grip he quickly leapt up and outwards towards the creature, bringing the blade down in a falling slash which crashed into the creature's shoulder, cutting through to the ground and leaving a long red slash on its side. Finishing the strike he leapt back, giving a nod to Tristan, "This thing should go down in a few more strikes. Let's wrap this up and get out of here."

The Banshee charged straight at him for an attack, an arm swiping in for the attack to target his own arm and would of hit regardless of blocking with his shield. However Tristan did not block, instead he thrusted his spear straight at the monster, piercing them right in the chest and sending them flying back, a trail of blood and lightning sparks following due to the status application.
Tristan could only laugh to what Calrex had said about paralysis, seeing as Tristan paralysed the monster again, leaving them incapable of attacking. "And it is no good having strong abilities if you can't use them due to paralysis either." he spoke with laughter in his voice. This Banshee was meant to be a formidable foe, but the both of them were barely scratched and were making the enemy look truly ridiculous.

<<Meditation>> Activated

Hearing Tristan's lighter hearted tone caught Calrex off guard for a second, as all of the times he had been around the redhead, it had been under more serious situations. In a way it had reminded him of Ssendom when he had accompanied him on the <<Essence of Steel>> quest. The man certainly seemed to get into the feel of combat. In this case it seemed that Tristan couldn't help but laugh at the funniness of the situation, which he had pointed out.

"Heh, no kidding! It only took the two of us to take this thing out. I thought it was going to be tougher than this, but maybe I may have just been a bit overly cautious."

As he rushed forward Calrex stopped when he looked at the helpless creature. Something about the situation seemed, a bit off. It was a helpless target, but sometimes it was wiser to avoid taking advantage of obvious openings. It was probably just another bit of being too cautious, or maybe the weight of the Frozen Fang Blade was wearing on him a bit, but he decided to gave a small exhale as he nodded to Tristan, "Since we've got some time I'll take a quick recovery here. Just a sec."

He focused as his <<Meditation>> ability activated, the faint blue outline surrounding his avatar quickly growing to a flash before fading, the one point of health he had lost immediately restored as he felt some of his strength return, his grip on his sword feeling more secure, "Alright good to go. Just a couple more hits and this thing should go down."

-1 to enemy MD next turn from Disguise

Tristan went on the offensive still while Calrex healed himself. He wasn't entirely sure why he wanted to heal only 1 point of damage, but shrugged and switched back to the attack. He cracked his neck and with his Disguise recharged, decided to make use of the skill again and became the appearance of a banshee, going forward as not a spearman, but a mirror image of their foe. As this mirror image, he swiped the clawed arm and struck the foe, then stepped back as once again as the redhead Tristan. He wasn't sure if it was something such as luck, but they really were destroying this foe mercilessly, which had him smile. Maybe they should do some harder bosses like the Cerberus or something which he hadn't done yet with how well this was going.

Calrex slowly got to his feet as he watched Tristan activate his <<Disguise>> skill once again, attacking the creature as a mirror image of itself. He gave a small smirk at the sight before rushing in himself, activating his <<Sprint>> ability to quickly close the distance.

The Banshee seemed to have gotten completely taken off guard by Tristan's attack as it flailed at the air a good five paces away. All of its attempts were in vain as each strike ripped through the air, connecting with no target. At the same time Calrex came into striking range as he swung across with the Frozen Fang Blade, only to have it meet air as well as the creature floated out of the blade's path. Leaping back he gave a nod to Tristan as he prepared for the next opening to present itself.

"Even with all of the misses it seems like this fight is not threatening at all. I wonder how things might have been if I had met Tristan before going on the Guardian of Fire quest. It's possible I might not have needed to even take a breather and recover before fighting the field boss. Heh, just goes to show how much strength there is in numbers, especially when there's synergy between the team members' combat styles."

Tristan smiled as he felt himself confident over the ease of this fight and how they destroyed the boss so hard. At this rate, they could honestly take on most bosses with ease. Made him wonder what power there would be if Calrex joined the elite of Azure Brigade, who were similarly powerful as this pair, Zelrius more so with his uniques. He put the thought aside though for the fight.

Tristan dashed forward with his spear and pierced them right through the chest, open wounds splaying with blood and sparks showing, leaving no mercy for them. This Banshee was utterly doomed to failure and they would come out unscathed, since even if Calrex missed, the open wound would have it bleed out to death. "Consider this fight beaten." he said with a smile of confidence.

Calrex gave a nod as Tristan dealt a near killing blow to the banshee, leaving only a single hit point left, in addition to inflicting Paralyze and Bleed once again. He gave a smirk underneath his helmet before flicking the Frozen Fang Blade into a hammer grip, rushing forward and using his <<Sprint>> ability to quickly close the distance, "Might as well put the nail in the coffin."

As he got into striking range the banshee tried in one last desperate attempt to strike at Tristan, only for its claws to meet his shield before glancing off. It glanced to the side to see a ghostly knight wielding a spear appear from behind the redhead. Calrex had activated his Disguise skill once again, assuming the appearance of the boss-level creature he and Oikawa had encountered in the first floor dungeon of the Black Iron Palace underground. At the same time he came into striking range he took one last one last step, slicing through the creature's midsection as his momentum carried him a few paces past its position before it gave one last wail, dissipating into shards. He gave a calming breath before flicking his sword into a reverse grip, sheathing it back into its scabbard, "Well, that was certainly a lot easier than I would have expected it to be heh. Nice work Tristan."

Loot List:
1 Material
1 Bottled Banshee Scream
Bonus Loot: 500 col (Mob Health 100 * 5)

Looking at the loot screen Calrex made note of the extra col they had gained from the creature, making note to share half with his teammate, "Now the question as to the material and quest item."

Tristan breathed a sigh of relief as Calrex jumped forward with a final attack, defeating the banshee. The ghost scattered into pixels and it was no more, a weird stillness in the after such shrieks from the monster. He thought about the reward given uniquely by the ghost and then said "Keep it." to Calrex, probably because of his british courtesy. He unequipped his spear and shield, trying to find the way back out the cave, saying "But...that Night Vision would be handy to get us back out again...see it as payment for that.". He chuckled to himself slightly and waited for Calrex to get himself ready to leave.

Calrex gave a smirk and a nod as he agreed, "Alright then, I'll keep the quest drop, but here at least take the material we got. That way it's a little more even."

Approving the exchange he sent over 250 col and 1 material to Tristan's inventory before giving a calming breath, persisting both his <<Night Vision>> and <<Reveal>> skills as the landscape became more than easy to navigate, "Looks like with the banshee defeated the other monsters have either despawned or left the area. Heading back to the settlement is going to be a breeze."

Heading out of the field boss' lair with Tristan in tow Calrex nodded as Roc flew out of the cave behind them, quickly ascending the flights of stairs out of Tartarus. The two players were not far behind as they emerged from the abandoned prison. They arrived at the settlement not long after as Calrex gave a small exhale, his <<Reveal>> skill deactivating, "Alright we're back. That was certainly a relaxing trip back here, heh."

Tristan nodded and took the gifts from Calrex for the quest. He personally just didn't take the drop as he already had a bleed weapon with paralyis added, so didn't fell the need for that extra. Either way, it was good for him as he should get back to crafting. He sighed in relief about the mobs despawning, as that will make their life much easier going out, more so since Calrex could see where they were going. And such it was, as they ended up at the settlement they came from, looking not too bad at all since they were both out with full health from the battle, no healing necessary. He smiled as he looked at Calrex and said, "So up for a drink?".

With a few swipes on his menu Calrex switched out of the Grand Chariot as his face came back into view, swapping it out for his plain armor, the Grand Dragoon. Since he had Meokka design it to fit over his casual combat clothing, the pauldrons and poleyns fit comfortable over his pants, shirt, and jacket. Giving a friendly smile and a nod Calrex agreed to Tristan's suggestion for a after-adventure drink, "Sure, sounds good to me. Was there somewhere you could think of nearby? All of the bars and other taverns I've been into were on other floors."

"Heh, I think one of the last people I went and grabbed a drink with was...actually if we're going by 'alcoholic' drinks it was with Azazel...or was it Azrael? Wow, that was quite some time back. The last time I saw her was at the duel arena, but our match was cut short or some reason. Hope she's been alright since then. Since she removed everyone from her contact list there's been no real way of getting in contact with her."

Tristan too changed into something more casual, breathing in the air of somewhere more casual rather than armour, looking about and deciding on which tavern to crash at to recover from exhaustion, with there being no damage to recover from. He thought about the Rusty Spoon, but didn't like it so much, so tapped his chin in thought, until slowly starting to walk in a direction towards The King George. He liked the ales there as they reminded him of England, so thought it might be good.
Upon entering, he walked to the bar and ordered himself a red fruity ale, then waited for Calrex to come beside him to order his own drink as he sat himself on a barstool for comfort. "What you going for then?".

Calrex gave a nod as he began to follow Tristan along, weaving through the small crowds until the duo came upon a place called "The King George." "Huh, well I certainly have not seen a tavern yet that was named after a person. However, King George is a fairly commonplace name, so I guess it's no surprise."

Following behind his teammate he entered into the establishment and followed suit up to the bar. Tristan had situated himself a few seconds before he did, as a  red-colored ale materialized in front of him. It looked to be some kind of ale, plus it certainly seemed intriguing enough, "Actually I think I might give what you're having a try. It certainly looks interesting."

A few seconds later a duplicate mug appeared in front of him as he sat down, nodding in thanks to the bartender. Looking at it closer, the redness was certainly a very deep color, one that he had not seen before in the real world. Everytime he had gotten a beer, ale, lager, or the like they always seemed to vary from light shades of tan to a very dark brown. The oddest one he had seen so far was chocolate ales, which only really had a faint smell of chocolate and really not much else.

  • 2 weeks later...

Tristan smiled and nodded to what Calrex said about getting another, which he could only agree with. Tristan himself has had a wide array of beers, but he found himself usually gravitating to the fruit tasting ones. He did once on a trip in Iceland have a nice Eisenböck Toasted Porter though which was brewed with espresso coffee and chocolate. Crazy a combination as it sounded, it was very smooth to drink. Tristan himself though was more a lager person when not in England, which Germany served excellent local ones of. However for now he needed a taste of home and a good ol' ale did that very finely.

"So, what is your plan to do next? Are you joining in on the floor boss fight?" He said after a swig of the ale. He knew Tristan himself was going as part of Azure Brigade, but he was unsure of the attendance of solo players.
