Classic SAO-RPG double post
-
As Xanatos said, great for training. The jump from quests to boss battles is quite steep. If we had such 'Secret Dungeons' it could help give a stepping stone to players to reach boss-battle levels.
-
Ethereal scratched his beard thoughtfully as he rolled an empty glass in his hands, glancing about the dark wooden establishment that he had found himself in. 'Jeez, this is depressing..' he decided before standing abruptly and taking the few short steps out of the heavy wooden door that stood in his way.
Dressed in his commoner's clothes the S1 Specialist pulled his grey cloak around himself before a message popped up on his HUD. Eyebrows rose as the young man checked it with the dextrous flick of his hand.
To: Ethereal
From: Xanatos
Subject: Hello!
Greetings Ethereal! I am Xanatos, a fellow guild member! I was curious if you would like to join me for a drink at the "Rusty Sword
pub here in starting city! Maybe get to know each other and our plans for Aincrad :D
"Seems I have something to pass the time with." Ethereal smiled. Looking up at the sky for a second his smile turned to a frown. A sign hanging just above his head stated this was - in fact - the Rusty Sword. "Damn." he whispered to himself.
Judging by the timestamp on the PM it had only been sent mere seconds ago. Ethereal hadn't seen anybody come in, so leant against a support just outside of the bar and waited patiently. He needed to find out more about his new guildmates anyway.

Ethereal had been living comfortably on a small corner of Floor 2, after suffering from his little episode at the Floor 9 boss fight he had decided to take some time out.
Today he had to fetch supplies from the nearby NPC village, calling for a fifteen minute walk from his 'home' in one of the mountains at the far end of the map. Trudging down the path in nothing but his beginners clothing and a grey cloak he made his way down the gravel path.
Up ahead there seemed to be a commotion - after a quick lift of the head he saw a few players on the path. 'Hmmm. I guess I should have expected company judging by the size of each level..' he thought grudgingly.
Pulling his hood over his head, the ex-Raoul of the Crimson Inquisition stepped off the path enough so not to be obstructed by the group before making his slow way around them.

Thank you Mari,
I apologise for posting so many times - there's no real excuse.
Thanks again for going through the threads,
Ethereal.
-
Okay, here we go.
http://www.sao-rpg.com/topic/1798-ethereal-the-fireheart-watcher/
About half way down the first post there's a list of all my participated RPs. 'P(X)' shows how many pages, with X being the amount of pages.
If there's 'Completed' it's been locked.
There will be duplicates, but no more than one extra copy. I'll give it a second run to delete the duplicates in the morning.
-
So, in my preliminary look for threads, I've pulled up ~150.
I'll sort them into those with greater than or equal to 2 pages and those not 2 pages long.
-
Updated to correct format.
Please evaluate :)
-
Thanks guys! I'll send Mari a link once I've got them all down.
-
Wow, nostalgia there. As Rebekah said, there are a few problems but nothing that can't be solved with time limits etc.
I've ran a few - the example being my most successful one - and am willing to do many more if the demand is good.
I'd love to RP organising raids and training peeps. That used to be my thing back in the day..
The hardest part I found was balancing the boss(es) against the party. Experience as a DM in any tabletop game really helps.
That's enough waffle from me but I'm all for this.
-
Okay, I'll do that. I left the site last time because I was told that every one of my threads had to be read through and checked against a criteria before getting an SP? I was just saying about the deal to save everybody's time if that's the case.
No problem anyway. I'll do the old content search / copy-paste combo :)
Don't worry about the items - I was just being dumb XD

So, I'm requesting help from a staff member to fix my broken skills and my apparently broken equipment.
Thing is, my character is very old hence many of his threads were before threads had to be checked before earning a skill point.
Oh - I have several hundred of these threads by the way.
It may be better to just have an ultimatum rather than 'wasting' staff time sifting through them. Hence, I'm fine with getting a skill point from half of them as a preliminary offer. -

OOC good I happened to be on the forums.)
Eth complied with Rin's request, setting him down. In turn he listened to the other soon-to-be duelist. "You chose.. Wisely." he said gently. "Oh and I think you should talk to a guy called Kazuya about.. that.." he gave his advice. "He has a similar 'issues'".
He took a second to whisper angrily to Rin. "You'd better not get into any more censored trouble. I AM leaving now and you're just lucky I happened to be here."
Oh hearing that a nearby person would try to take on Rin, he turned to the guy. "Go nuts kid, but I have your name and if you gank Rin you'll have me to answer to." Eth casually told the boy, before barging through the crowd and exiting the scene.
-
Ether stepped out of his shop, turning away after locking the door. Surprised out of his wits, he saw what looked to be a duel about to start. One of the potential duelists had his back to Eth, so Ethereal stepped in and pulled the man around to face him. In a glace he saw two things - that the duel was a total loss duel. That and it was Rin as one of the contenders.
"RIN?!" he exclaimed. "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!" Ether shouted, physically lifting the player above his head. Turning to the rest of the people present, he spotted the next most battle-ready individual. "IF YOU WANNA DUEL, I'LL GIVE YOU THE LAST ONE YOU WILL EVER HAVE, SON!"
-
Ether's interface suddenly fizzled and his skills were wiped. His eyes widened as the time he had invested disappeared before him.
Turning to Kazuya, he spoke in a shocked and angry tone. "Kazuya, I'm leaving the guild and going for a long break."
Ethereal stepped away, pivoting on his heel and slowly walked out of the cave. He paused to give a wave to his sister and shout to the room "Goodbye friends I will return, although not soon. Thanks for all the fun times."
Then he left, a shadow against the bright opening and was gone.

I concur, as an alchemist you don't get near as many customers as say - a blacksmith.
However, I think this is due to the ability to buy low-level health potions on-demand from a merchant. People just bulk buy them and have their character carry as many as they want. Since it's instantaneous, they don't need to go to the trouble of going to an alchemists, paying a lot and waiting until their potion is brewed..
-
Eth shrugged as the massive beast lumbered away, they'd see more in due time. "Woah, what?" he exclaimed as his sister suddenly tugged at his arm. In a second he has faced with a scene of pure tranquility, a disk of silver water surrounded by a ring of raised rock. A tremor suddenly upset the room, causing ripples to disrupt the disk.
As quickly as a second after entering the cavern, a massive CRASH brought a boulder over the entrance. Rue quickly dashed over to the boulder, trying to break them.
In an instant he went to her side, putting all his strength behind the massive rock. It rocked backwards but it had recessed itself into the ground and was refusing to be rolled.
He stood back breathing heavily. "Well, it doesn't look like we're doing anywhere fast." he panted.
-
Eth was genuinely impressed by how Celes knew the route off by heart. 'She must come here a lot. I can see why.' he thought.
Taking a seat with its back to the road, he admired the aesthetics of the place. He liked the way it wasn't over exaggerated with furnishings.
After a second he picked up the florally-decorated menu. Examining it for a few seconds, he decided - "I think I'll have some macarons for starters'.
-
(OOC sorry I've just got up :S )
As a young girl stumbled into the store, Eth was pretty surprised. "Eh?.. Oh right. Sure, I can try to make you some. I'll have a few by the day's end."

[OP-F1] Beginner's Training Raid Sign Ups/Prep
in Beginner Floors
Posted
Ethereal had heard rumours of a training event being advertised in the Town of Beginnings. Deciding to check it out, the newly returned man made his way through the crowds of players and NPCs. Pushing his way past the few people crowding the board and surveying the poster the warrior's eyebrows raised.
So it was true - a mini boss raid. After a moment he memorised the details of where the event will be located. 'May as well show my face and see if I can be any help to the organisers..' the Specialist decided as he made his way out of the square.
