  1. "I think the fun part fun comes when something is taking the bait. I can see the waiting time between being used as some form of distraction from problems, or on the opposite to meditate on something without being distracted." said the blonde in a sage-like manner. But she too didn't want to stay here more than necessary, she could meditate or mule over problems in her own spare time. Today she was here with the set objective to finish a quest and little more.

Fortunately Raidou seemed to be a better fisher than her and after some wrestling with the mob he managed to bring it ashore. Once she saw it, Ariel realized that she unconsciously expected a more gracious being to appear; like a beautiful giant koi fish not that... monstrosity. The good part was that while she'd have some reservations about attacking a koi, the king's actual appearance made it easier for her to go all out. "Let's put it out of its misery!" she said with a grin as she charged it. With her weapon ablaze with dark flames resulted from the Fallen effect, she shreds through the immobilized creature and removes a sizable chunk of its health.

  2. "Seems we have clashing viewpoint on the matter!" she said with a grin. "You may see it as me wasting time, but by doing this I'm making a time investment for the future. The faster you reach the frontline the faster I get some load off my back." The look in his eyes, it was like his initial suspicion from when they first met but unlike that time, she had a pretty good idea regarding his drive and would use it with little to no hesitation. "Plus I am the iemoto (grandmaster) of the Shirajishi-ryu." Only the first term should be translated to ChaseR as she had chosen to register the household name with the latin alphabet instead of kanji. "It wouldn't be very teacher-like like of me to ignore someone in need of knowledge.

This was the first time she had used her this new introduction, it had a different ring to it which she liked very much. There was also the reality that her school didn't have any students yet nor did she finish setting up the place. That was also one of the reasons she went to visit her tailor teacher at this floor.

  3. At the mention of the couple fighting together, Ariel involuntarily made a hiss; similar to the sound one makes when they get burned by touching a hot object (sucking air through your teeth). It was a complicated subject: "Those two are kind of separated right now. As I mention Teayre hasn't been seen for a long time and Calrex only seems to appear to important events and raids. They both became kind of recluse right now, one more than the other." she sighted, not remembering exactly how much time has passed since she saw the crimson-haired katana user. He didn't seem to press on, a luckily break for Ariel as she wasn't sure if she was willing to discuss more on the subject.

To his next question she plainly replied: "No plans." an idea making her brows raise slightly before she voiced it: "How about we do another quest?" she asked, not waiting for his reply as she pulled out her HUD and started scrolling through her quest list, going all the way to the top to the beginner quests on floor 1. "We got some options on this floor, man I can barely remember what you have to do on some of these.." she mused, her eyes scanning over the text in front of her.

  4. He seemed more interested in the unique skills talks, taking in the information like a sponge. The blonde would shrug and reply to his question:" Next two were a pair of best friends from my guild, one had a skill that allowed him to wield two weapons and use strong sword arts while the other I don't even remember what it was called, never knew what it did. We weren't close." she was starting to dig in some old buried memories so her expression would gradually change from a smile to a frown as she related, showing that there was more to their story than she said: "They both died during a boss fight." she plainly stated, bending the truth a little.

After then a smile, albeit a sad one, returned to her expression: "Teayre is a katana user that had the skill called Battojutsu, her weapon and the skill involved a vampiric effect. I haven't heard from her for a long time. Coincidentally she was Cal-kun's girlfriend." she added on a lighter tone, slipping out signs of the closeness between her and the couple. By her standards she was relating events from a lifetime ago, nobody was talking about unique skills since they became a dead subject: no new ones have ever been discovered or made public.

  5. "You jest..." she whispered under her breath, last time she really knew about the frontlines' potential was back at floor 13 when she personally organized the meeting against the twin angels boss. It went incredibly smooth, more than she could ask for but that was because there was a well established force that she knew would show up. She admitted that the floor bosses were easier back then too, more...lenient to mistakes.

"I was taken aback at the meeting... so many new eager faces, maybe a little bit too much." she said with a snort, remembering herself as the same... begging her guild master to join the next raid again and again after being denied. "That's why I wanted to relate what we went through that fight, expressed my raw thoughts and emotions in hopes to make them see how dangerous it was. And will be." she wouldn't have been able to do so before her reclusion on the 22th floor, pride getting in the way of showing what she saw as 'weakness'. But she came back determined and with a plan in mind; one that seemed to align with what Baldur had did until now.

She noticed the fire behind those words, both of them having been members of the now extinct guild, she could trust that he would keep with his words. "That's more than I expected." she stated plainly, knowing that numbers were out of their control, for now.

She wanted to turn back to something he mentioned before: "You say the new blood doesn't have experience, they need training and some sort of guidance?" she got closer to him, passion burning in her silver ayes: "I couldn't agree more. That's probably one of the reason you started a school on your island right? We think alike Bal. I came back with a similar idea in mind. New T3 players don't really know what it is to be a frontliner, so it is our duty as their senpai to guide, teach them!" she took a deep breath, she was now smiling as she began to touch on the subject she had initially called him here for.

"With that goal in mind, we can become the majority of factions, veterans willing to teach the rest and with the backup of various guild, all working together to make the frontlines as safe and coordinated as we can. You took a big step at the meeting with Jacob's Ladder, working in tandem with Firm Anima and the rest of the involved crafters. But people will always be suspicious of one large guild trying to control everything."

To that end I plan to start a martial arts school on floor 22, it will be backed by Firm Anima; that would help players gear up. Myself and ideally other high levels, would help players go through quests faster and speed up their progress of leveling. Personally I want to help people, to understand that this is a different world with its own set of rules. I will use the concept of kendo and martial arts in general to help those willing to learn, discipline their character. I find it something that is deeply lacking." she didn't iron out all the details, it was a bring undertake if they were to pursue it. She stopped herself, looking for his input... she realize she was starting to sound like a fanatic instead of passionate if she continued.

  9. He seemed to be coming to the realization that it will take more than words and spirit to reach the frontlines. She nodded to his first question while looking him in the eyes, completely aware of his shocked state as he looked to distract himself. By the time of his third question, she could would see him a little more determined than she expected: 'maybe there's still hope for him yet?' she wondered, slightly tilting her head and closing her eyes. "Calrex.." she simply named him. "He's the owner of a unique skill not available to other players, as the name suggest. While I can't tell you the specifics of his skill, I can tell you that it helped improve his tanking ability and survivability in the battlefield. He's pretty much unkillable." she added with a smile, by the way she talked suggesting she was somehow familiar with him. "There are... four? unique skills in Aincrad that I know of." unsure of the number now since it's been so long since she even thought about them.

  10. The were currently window shopping through the 'food court' part of the shopping district, a place filled with all kind of restaurants, bars, food stand, all owned by professional cooks. The blonde was on the lookout for deals on consumables when ChaseR prompted a question. She made a few more steps and stopped in front of a restaurant's menu. Leaning a little, she read mentally through the list of items and prices while casually replying "Seventy-seven!" Not finding anything to her liking, she sighed and looked at Chase: "But I hear people have already reached the 88 max level cap. if I'm not mistaken, the strongest tank in Aincrad, owner of the Achilles unique skill is among them." she said with a grin, reminiscing to the time when Calrex was just a small level 10 that she took to finish the Traveler quest. She had predicted his brilliant future then and wasn't mistaken as now she felt like a proud mom. The blue knight now stood among Aincrad's finest. With that though in mind she grinned and made a mental note to catch up with him now that returned to the front lines.

  11. The blonde chuckled as she saw Assassin eagerly dash toward the target she just pointed out. 'Nyoh?' she tilted her head and visibly flinched while sharply inhaling, releasing her breath only when the leopard had taken refuge into the bushes again. As Assassin presented the bait, she knelt and patted the front of her clothes, materializing a white handkerchief and wiping the dirt off Assassin's face and clothing. "mou... I like your enthusiasm but look how dirty you got!" despite intending it as an admonition the blonde was smiling.

While she wasn't a fisher herself, she took a rod from the quest NPC and mimicked Raidou's moves when casting the line. She then realized that she hasn't put the bait yet and slowly reeled it in taking a small piece of the salamander and fixing it onto the hook. She cast it again, further than the first time, only after it hit the water wondering if she didn't throw the line too hard and made the bait fall off. Her expression visibly showed her concern as she squinted her eyes, keeping them fixed on the float.

  12. spoiler aimed at > @Oscar @Assassin @Hidden

    Spoiler

Listening to the different inputs, Ariel settled with taking Oscar's advice, she began nibbling on the tamale she forgot she even had in her hand. Luckily, people didn't seem distracted by it or simply ignored it. Seeing him set several plates around the room, she eyed the one next to her and after gently pressing her palms against each other in front of her chest, she closed her eyes and was thankful for the grub she was about to indulge in. Ever since she had joined SAO, one of the small things she missed was her father's cooking. That unknown itch finally got scratched now after many years, as she tried the impromptu chef's dishes. Any who would see her would notice how she was carefully eating the mexican food with gusto. Even if they weren't native spanish dishes, the cook did a skillful job pinning down the common ancestry. Seemed like Assassin was enjoying it too as she went for seconds.

When the new person arrived, she paid little mind to her opinion regarding Yuki, finding it redundant as she continued to indulge in the new guilty pleasure she never knew she had. The blonde did however stop eating and raised an eyebrow when this new orange player stood next to them and patted Assassin, calling her Ayame? Noticing the initial reaction on the girl beside her, she had several question regarding that action and the words that came with it but decided to coin them for later as the girl seemed to know her and presented Ariel to her.

"Nee-chan..." he added in a low tone, trying to get only her attention. "It's considered rude towards the rest if you stand up in a room full of seated people." by the tone of her voice, she probably didn't care much about appearing as rude but the fact that she turned to address Assassin, gave the blonde a good opportunity for a segway: "If you don't have anything else to add, please have a sit next to us. You wouldn't want to make all four of us appear rude towards our host, would you?" she said with a small remnant smile after eating. Implying that simply by association, Assassin, Ariel and Raidou would be frowned upon as a result of her actions. Ariel reached out for another serving and presented it to the white clad girl: "Have a taco if you'd like, They're on the house and I can personally attest to their rich flavour." she added with a genuine smile, before taking a bite for herself.

She paid little attention to the talks that followed regarding Yuki's worth as a tank. Most mistaking Shield's words from 'not fight as a main tank' with 'not participate in the fight' or something. As expected, that needless chatter was cut off short so she saw no reason to interject furthermore. She nodded to herself as people were talking about light sources as it would definitely play a crude part in the raid fight as it did in their scouting. For that reason alone she decided to add the Night Vision mod to her scouting kit, a faint green glow in her silver eyes showing that she already aquired it the moment she had the necessary skill point available.

She watched @Raidou add his input on the current topics and once more offer his help, yet another nod of approval escaping from her direction. Then came Mari that after a brief introduction talked about the importance of the Night Vision mod. She had omitted that the 'one' that listened as the rest of that raid's members were a handful of handpicked individuals from her guild. The blonde understood and could appreciate that it was brought up to emphasize on the importance of the mod and nothing else, so Ariel wouldn't dwell in the past. Now it was the time to look only at the future and plan for the hard fight on the horizon.

"That is why I suggested two tank per team @Mari!" she chimed once again as she had some relevant information. "Most of the time after we defeated the dragon, I was in with lighting the pillars and I took no damage. The boss and adds pretty much ignored me. But when Mac and Zandra, which were in charge of managing the adds hate got overwhelmed, I had to step in and cut some of the pressure off them by using an area attack to kill off a couple. It was only after, that I was 'marked for death' and took a full force blow from the boss almost immediately, despite having the two tanks manage and kill adds long before I stepped in. It looked like if you were in any way involved with the combat, you had a fair chance for the boss to directly target you. We should expect something similar in the raid too."

The next point being brought up regarding Orgoth and having him as a potential foe/ally, was also something that she had a personal interest in. Afterall, 25th floor's local hero gained her respect after refusing to leave with her and sacrificing himself for that the scouts could teleport out. As much as she would love to repay him back she wasn't optimistic about his chances of walking out alive. Multiple players discussed about possession but Ariel replied to @Bahr's last question: "We only saw a couple of instances of Shadow or shadows leaving a body. First one, as Baldur said, when we first entered the boss room, the minotaurs we're fighting a dying dragon and after they finished it, shadows poured of of its body and filled the room. It swallowed, consumed the NPCs, I felt nothing as it washed over us players!" She stopped for a moment and eyed @Baldur, @Macaroon@Morgenstern and @Zandra seeking confirmation that they also didn't feel a thing.

"Now that I think about it, the NPCs left some orbs behind that it absorbed when it resurrected." her memory vivid, she sharply inhaled as she made some connections. "After we defeated the dragon the second time, darkness poured out again from its body!" She could hear sound of a coin drop in her head... a imaginary light bulb above her head appeared as she made more connections. she was getting excited as she spoke: "but since there were no NPCs around the second time and the boss himself manifested, the dragon couldn't resurrect again!" How did she not think about this earlier!?

She turned towards @Cordelia "That's why I think bringing NPCs to the boss fight would only add fuel to fire, he would turn them to orbs and use them to make himself stronger!" she was basing this only on what they saw at the beginning of the labyrinth fight but her instincts told her she was right. She continued elaborating: "Orgoth is some kind of hero, more powerful than your normal NPC right? Shadow couldn't kill him and feed on his crystal so he possessed him instead. Turned the minotaur's strength into his own in a different way." at this point she wasn't replying to Bahr anymore but saying her own thoughts. "Orgoth sacrificed himself to help us scouts escape. I'm all for trying to save him as I'm in his debt but not even a powerful dragon couldn't escape his grasp. I suggest we go in expecting to kill him too."

Another realization soon dawned on her, the blonde's gaze now downcast and her expression serious; the earlier enthusiasm now gone. She hesitated, grinding her teeth and biting her lower lip for a couple of seconds before delivering her final thoughts in a more somber tone: "The same should apply for players too. Everyone that wants to participate in this fight should be aware and prepared that: if the boss will possess one of us.... the rest of the players would have to remove them from the fight if they can't find any way to purify the possessed...." As much as the blonde hated this thought, they had to account, prepare and accept all possibilities before going in; the 22nd floor's Sage knew she was.

  13. The guest listened carefully to the extra tidbit of information Assassin provided, smiling at her conclusion. She enjoyed their cook's reaction to her tease, one of the remaining 'sins' she wasn't able to purge herself of during her hermitage. She accepted the cup of tea from @Snow with a small bow helped herself with a sip. The hot liquid alongside @Baldur's words warmed her body and heart, a small strained appearing as he diplomatically told her to 'call before' next time she plans on visiting. Setting the cup down in front of her she looked around, studying the interior and remembering the overall architectural design of the place. "I'd love that. Bring the old band together, eh? you'd be joining us too right, @Calrex? I wonder what T-chan would say if she saw you in that attire, surrounded by beautiful women." she teased eyeing Snow and...thinking that it was probably Mari that she briefly saw just a few minutes ago. As she replied with a smile, thinking that she should try to reach out to Oikawa and Teayre sometime in the future.

Seeing that knowing smile, she gave him one of her own as she replied: "Recently, I felt like I had a shadow looming over my thoughts and wanted a change of scenery, maybe hoped to have a few words with you in private about then." she stopped herself and looked around at the many friendly faces. "But that can wait for another time, I rather enjoy the company I'm with right now and would like to keep it a little more. It's been too long since I've been around this many people..." she admitted with a smile, knowing that him and whoever was aware of what happened during the previous labyrinth scouting would understand. She decided to leave it as a hint since she didn't knew if Baldur had revealed any of the information to the rest: it wasn't her place to do so.

I was told the house and guild founded after the lab. scouting so I'll add that little tease there.

  14. With half a smile, she faced Baldur: "I'm glad you're more optimistic than me." she the crouches to pick a stone from the ground and after giving it a light squeeze she throws it in the Stagyan, making it skip on the surface two times before it sank. Doing it on a whim, she remembered competing with her dad to see who makes it skip more times, a long time ago. "Then again, I haven't been around after the 20th floor until the leviathan, and even there I didn't last until the end, being swept away from the fight by the water." She shivered unconsciously, remembering the sensation from back then and her frustration for being forced to step away. "You probably know more about our potential than me." she said, oblivious to the tinge of doubt in his eyes despite his words.

She would nod at every point he'd made as she tried again to make the stone skip more times... three was her limit so far without the use of skills and mods. "It sounds like we're still at that point. I was hoping things would have improved." she added, once again turning to face her old friend, one of the few remaining that she could count on one hand. "Seems it's unavoidable that there's bound to be a Zelrius or Ariel disrupting these meeting. I had hoped that things would improve in my absence but are always going to be clashing factions."

She would swallow an imaginary nods in her throat and and make way for the next topic that she was interested in. "I saw some old and a bunch of new faces at your place. Since they wore casual attire I couldn't gauge them. How many new ones would join the meeting and the boss? I only remember some of the people from leviathan." It was one of the issues that they always seem to lack, manpower to organize a full raid. While they always pulled through with the little they had, the blonde doubted that this time it would be enough. Losing Hestia, their dedicated tank midfight stalled them to the point that she considered they were better off tp-in out of there before lighting all pillars.

  15. "T--thanks..." she said with half a smile, feeling a little guilty from splitting her and Nyoh for her sake. As the leopard put some distance between them, Ariel closed the one she had with Assassin and gave her a long, warm hug. "I'll try my best. If it worked with Kimba I'm sure we'll make it work with Nyoh too." she said gently in her ear. It was for a while now, probably right after their quest in the desert that she got attached to the girl and started seeing her as someone close. This was the third little sister she had gained after being trapped in this game. "I'm surprised you got a leopard, did you really liked Kimba that much that you wanted one of your own." she added with a smile, letting go of her but still walking by her side.

"Then we just have to catch one or two." she replied to Raidou with a wink after a while, her eyes flashing golden momentarily as she used her Search skill to look up their surroundings. Not a moment later she raised her hand and pointed at a nearby tree "There!" with a smirk as her scouting skills come in handy even in this type of situation.

  16. "No plans in specific." replied the blonde with a shrug after she said goodbye to the artisan and walked out the shop. She could understand why her master seamstress had such a close relationship with the man, despite his apparently unfriendly attitude; they both showed intense passion and love for their work. Something that the blonde herself came to appreciate. "Probably gonna walk around the place, she if there are any new player shops and whatnot. See if I can stock up on some supplies." she added with a flat tone, as if it was a routine which at this point it pretty much was, the blonde doing it without meaning to every time she came to this floor. After her return to the frontlines, she found herself using consumables more often than before so she had to resupply. Conveniently, most of the crafters she needed items from were at this floor making her search easier without having to travel across multiple floors. "Wanna tag along? I can answer some questions you might have or impart some of the frontlines wisdom if I'm in the mood." she said with a sheepish smile, luring him in with that last mention.

  17. "Thank you..." she replied with a small blush, she couldn't really understand why her cheeks gained the red tinge as she wasn't a teenager anymore to start blushing at every compliment. Yet in the last few years she hasn't heard a compliment, not after breaking up with her boyfriend. She felt a little happy that her womanly charms were still having their effect even if he probably was just nice and didn't mean anything about those words. The gray haired artisan nodded, apparently satisfied with the youth's response. "Indeed you have much to learn, to sharpen your chisel and adjust the hammer's weight." he said with his eye closed. Then he reached from below the counter and pulled out a voluminous tome which he let rest against the counter. A impressive thud showed that its weight wasn't metaphorically inside the book but also physical." You can have this book filled with various blueprints that I gathered throughout the years. Practice the craft and I'm sure you'll make trinkets and masterpieces that you'll be proud off." he said with a smile, turning towards Chase. With the quest ending there should be a large 'Congratulations!' text above the NPC's head and a message detailing his rewards. The blonde obviously, not participating in the quest, couldn't see it. She removed the necklace and handed it back to Chase. "I think it's beautiful."she added with a slight smile, the flustered expression from earlier having disappeared by now.

Description: The perfect golden needle to craft your crafts with.
  20. With a gentle push, the door opens with little resistance. She had expected a loud screeching noise from the door's hinges but this being a virtual world, the door opened like new. With a large sigh she enters and closes the door behind her. This shop was all that remained from the home she once had adjacent to this place but she lost that after apparently the Cardinal system decided to improve its housing system, partially refunding the old player homes; including hers. She wasn't mad, she understood what happened and soon enough would move this shop inside her new home. Before that, she would craft one last time in this place.

  21. "I did something similar..." she replied with a cheeky grin, as she turned around to leave him at work. She didn't move before slightly turning her head, saying: "Ariel.." before walking towards a nearby wall and leaning against it with her hands folded in front of her. She would observe him from them without being a distraction, having went through the item creation process herself she could see how it would be frustrating. She however made her first plushie on first try, a perfect one to boot; prompting her teacher to call her 'a natural talent'. Which proved out to be true, her keen eyesight reinforcing lady Diana's words up to this day.

Watching the exchange between thee two players, ol' Malachi Ringly couldn't help but smile under his mustache. He didn't need to see but hear how the player was treating his tools and the materials. 'too rough...' he mentally mused, closing his eyes to enhance his hearing. The second time he wanted to tell him to relax and let the tools guide his hand, his movements still stiff. Ariel could see how the NPC raised his eyebrows and made a small nod before a blue glow flashed from Chase's direction. Malachi answered his summons and turned to see the finished product. He took it in his hands and examined it , turning it around and watching from every angle. "Young seamstress, come here for a moment please!" he unexpectedly added.

  22. She wipes off the sweat forming on her forehead with the back of her hand before assuming a seated position as well. She nodded: "Yep is something I had planned to do for a while, since I rejoined the frontlines. Visiting Baldur's home once before the meeting really motivated me even more." at this point she was grinning, like a kid telling someone about their wish: "Come to think of it, I never told you why I wanted us to do this did I? And you kind of went along with it didn't ya?" her eyes open wide, coming to the realization that she only asked if he'd be willing to come farm mobs here. She was kind of surprised when he accepted with almost no reservation; she actually had to impose that he would take some of their rewards as he was even willing to do it for free. If she didn't knew him better she would've thought he had a crush on her or something. Eyeing him behind his frames, she slightly tilted her head, weighting in the possibility.
