  4. "At least those memories I do have.  Jomei was there with us.  There were so many of us there, and I'm sure that they all have mostly forgotten by now.  I fell off the map, or so afterwards.  Being told that the front got so divisive over my actions, and what happened after.."

    That day was still just as vivid.  Destroying the first two of the Dark Elf Council, while constantly having conversations and talking back and forth between them.  The emotions that were being displayed.  For those that could see them as only bosses, it was simple.  For Hirru, it was fighting a group of living people, and one was just a kid or teenager.  He couldn't be certain with how elves were established.  Then after telling those people he could.  Being told to not participate due to possible discourse and other issues.  He wasn't there for it, but had found out how bad things got.  Not just because of him, but things that could have been helped, if he was there.

    Hirru would try to get a little closer to Jomei.  He was sustaining too much damage, even if his passives were doing there job.  He didn't want that health to go to far below any degree.  His hand would glow green for a moment before it could activate as Jomei was within a certain distance.  His health would rise back up to full.

    "We had talked about that before, when we faced that smog dungeon boss.  After the events of the 25th floor resetting several floors, I thought to come back.  I needed to start slow and find those that I could trust to tell my story.  Funny enough, there are more than just you two, Shield and Beat.  I've also told Hestia and NIGHT, but I haven't seen Hestia in forever.  Meanwhile NIGHT.."

    He figured it best not to talk too much about someone else's agenda.  Though Baldur probably had figured from NIGHT's interactions towards Hirru several times during the last few raids.

    "We had a mutual interest"

    So much had happened since he started sharing his story, but there was still one that he had not talked to properly.  One that he still thought would hate him for the choices that he made.

    "I still have certain others that I feel need to know too.  Though, I have taken Baldur's advice to keep it to a minimum.  This is a large weakness I'm sharing, and I trust you to keep it."

  5. They were having to be careful with each attack that they chose for the creature.  They needed that special event to happen, or so the information that was given to them stated.  Hirru figured that they were doing well for something that required players that were fairly stronger than the quest to lessen their opportunities.  Were they lower leveled, they may not have much issue in keeping their damage in check, but the burns that the creature kept producing against Jomei were not something one could easily work around.  Though, maybe a few prepared dotes and such may help.

    "To find it all a fabrication was something.  It.. took some time to come to understand, and I'm still not sure I understand things fully.  Though, I had quite a bit of help to try to find what I needed."

    He would watch as Baldur would do his thing.  Jacob's Ladder had certainly helped him out more than anything.  Though, it was mostly Baldur, Shield, and Beat that he could start the process.  They were the first to know about it all, and it was them that would show him the holes in his knowledge.  Though, that still didn't help him with his memories.  Those were things he needed to work on, on his own time.

    "I'm not sure when it all happened.  From the start, ... I just remember the field on the first floor.  I remember wondering what I was doing there.  Who I was.. Someone was there, seemed confused about my questions.  Thought I was.. 'roleplaying', especially when they saw my 'name' and just laughed it off."

    He couldn't remember their name.  He was processing too much at the time to really care.

    "Showed me the basics, and how to get 'loot'.  It was helpful, but their way of doing things didn't sit right with me.  It felt like they were making fun of me, when I should be more careful."

    It was there that the hunter truly started to be.  The capabilities to gain things in this world, including knowledge.  It would be Hirru's whole being as he searched and prodded areas of the world, to find out who he was, and where he belonged.  The three light rings would show up on Hirru's arm again, but this time, they did not leave him.

    "I had taken it to heart and took that as my walk in life.  To hunt and to loot.  Though they did say to get some rest and water, even though it didn't matter.  So, I did.. threw my head into the fountain in the Town of Beginnings.."

    That was where he met the first truly honest people he would get to know.

  6. A simple look of appreciation helped Hirru out as Baldur went on to attack the boss.  Hirru trusted Baldur and he would trust Jomei all the same.  There would be no turning back now, as Jomei's expression said it all.  Hirru would have some explaining to do, and that was what he want.  He wanted to express his side of things, and how the world looks from his point of view.  There would be ways that he had already expressed the situation to people, and a few have been stories.  Some have been more straight forward.  He figured that he didn't have to really make it a big thing.. any more than he already had.

    Looking to Jomei as they went on to attract the beast, the hunter would continue on.

    "Yeah.  I.. don't remember anything about the world outside.  I barely have memories from when everyone first started in this world."

    It was a start, but there would be more to it as they worked out where this conversation would go.  Though, his concerns would go to the burning that was immediately afflicted to Jomei.  To give them that time, he would make sure that any damage they would take would be reduced even further.  He figured that it should be about time to gain the Pacify trait to erase those pesky status effects.

    "For a while, I actively thought that this place was somewhat real.  Everyone in it, and all the mobs too."

    A slight gesture towards the boss.

    "Even this mess, but I've had some revelations and heavy thoughts since my incident during that raid"

  7. As he watched on through their efforts, as the light from his skill slowly but surely faded away.  It had done it's job well to set them up.  The shifting mass of what looked like glass and light was starting to add shifts of orange and red to its color scheme.  Odd how it was keeping these, when most other mobs would have them slowly 'heal' over.  Though, the hunter just thought it was part of the world, as the game they were in would probably revert the mobs to a state that it didn't have to constantly track.  Though that much of it was roughly where Hirru's understanding from Shield's explaination of game mechanics would end.

    "You guys are way too easygoing for a boss fight.."

    He would smile, but not much would be seen under the helm.  The rain really starting to kick up a bit, which made it a drumming mess upon his armor.  Hearing was going to be rough for him, but he wasn't really trying to listen too hard.  As long as search was up, and his team's stats were constantly on display to him, then he would be able to take care of any issues that crop up.

    "Mari, keep up that energy!  We're almost done!"

    He would call out as Jomei kept dodging the shifting masses attacks to the point where one would think he was a green blur.  Especially with how the rain was obscuring his vision, so most of their actions were all over the place.

They had defeated the rough looking creature, or was that an abstract art piece?  What the heck is abstract mean?  Was there a reason that the hunter was even here?  Did he really need to be here?  These thoughts were really there in the hunter's mind as he raced back to the group.  Ariel had taken the final hit on the creatures, which was good for him.  It only meant that his NPCs would be able to leave quickly and without resistance.  That is, as long as it kept going when it didn't feel the issue of the mobs ever encroaching upon them.  A quick look towards the teleportation temple would give him relief that they were out of there.  Small wisps of blue light falling from where they would have jumped from.

    "Good job everyone!"

    He could hear more fighting going on, and would immediately seek to investigate.  Immediately, he would call out to those that haven't run out already.

    "Spread out and help everyone else!  We're here to keep them from getting to whatever they're objective truly is!"

    With that, he would send a message to Baldur and Jomei to link up for a coordinated attack.  Though, by doing so.. would trip and eat dirt.

An iridescent glow would envelop his shield while Jomei was taking care of the boss.  It was stunned for now, so he would not need to worry about healing for now.  He would do what was needed right now and make this as quick as possible.  There was no need to hesitate now.  If he did, then they..  No, he would not think of it.  Hirru would raise his shield high to where the art would initiate.  The glow would then disappear like the art before, and would transfer to the blades of his allies.  They now held the power to make this battle that much faster.

    "Press the Attack has been initiated!  Run it through before it gets the chance to do anything funny!"

    With that, he would step back and let them do their work.  It's what he had to do to keep everything running smoothly.  Though, things didn't always like to stay smooth, and he would have to adapt to when it does.  So why was it that he felt that he was forgetting something; something important.

    The fully armored healer would call out as the fight would begin.  It was funny still that their guild tank was lightly armored and was more there to cause aggression and evade, like a dps would do.  While their healer had more armor and mitigation than all of them, but was obviously not the one they wanted to be hit.  Though that was how things had gone.  They were definitely an odd bunch, but that was alright.

    "Baldur!  Here's for your energy consumption!  Keep busting it down!"

    Three yellow rings would glow around the hunter's left arm before slowly fading one after another.  Each one would then form again around the arm of the resident gaijin that had burst forward before them.  He would need to keep both their health and energy levels as high as possible.  Though, that would not be the last thing he would do.

    "Jomei!  After you stun it, I'm buffing you all!"

  11. The knights were slowly being dwindled to nothing, but they were still not out of the ball park yet.  There will be time to rest once this was all over.  At least, the hunter hoped so.  Though as the others were scattering to cover more ground, the hunter would group up with his guild.  He would keep them going better than what happened before.  Even more so now that they all mostly knew his secret.  He would keep them all from going down.

    Following Baldur's orders, he would immediately prep his buffs.  There weren't much to them, but they were all he had.  He really needed to get in touch with some more people.  It seemed that certain places were producing less and less as time went on.

  12. Hirru knew well what the other two were talking about.  He had done well to get to where he was.  So much has happened that he could hardly believe that time had really passed in such a short order.  From the .. start of his memories to now, he had survived through so much.  Learned from the best, and took on the greatest challenges this world would offer them, and still continue to do so. 

    Though, his understanding of time was also still as shaky, but thankfully time seemed to flow the same here as the real world.  At least, that's what Shield thought when Hirru broached the question to him about it.  He seemed to know a bit more on the 'mechanics' or so of how games worked.  Though, he also said that this world may be slightly off too.  We could be reacting to things that may have happened in a faster sequence, or some mess.  The conversation went into a lecture about 'how the fuck microwaves are doing this shiz' or something along those lines.  Hirru couldn't understand half of it, but took what he could.

    Baldur had taken care of the last of the hounds and was now giving instruction on what to do with the boss itself.  

    "Probably have to get them into their red health states then for each head.  Try not to have your status effects kill them off early, and use more technical arts."

    Hirru figured that there would be enough to worry about later, so he would add on as he started the next half of the quest by stepping near the largest pool of lava.

    "I'll have to tell you something then.  The boss shouldn't be too bad, so I'll say it as we go."

    Slowly, the boss would rise up.  Gnashing teeth from each head as they rose.  The beast would tower over them ever so slightly; lava falling off of its fur, as if it were water.  The sizzling heat burned at the hunter's face before the bosses health bar would show.

    "Jomei..  If we are to work together, then I need to tell you something.  Something that I'm sure will cause things to look and sound ridiculous, but.."

    Raising his shield slightly to the enemy, he knew he wouldn't be the target.  He kept the visage of a protector anyway.  That was all he could do.  That was all he had to do.  For everyone here.  A slight glow from his hand would fall upon Baldur for a simple respite.

    "I.."

    Resolving himself to do it, he would continue.

    "..have no memory.. of the outside world."

More players had come to join them in this matter.  More than he thought would come too.  Wait, did he see Freyd and the others run off in another direction?  Were there more of these things than he could scan?  In fact, search wasn't giving him much of anything.  He was roughly getting pings for everyone here, the merchant, and Liz.  He figured that he should probably get those two out of there before anything unexpected happened.

    "Go ahead without me.  I'll buff you for now, so let loose until I get back!"

    He would call out before raising his shield to the sky as his supporting skill would activate.  A iridescent glow would surround his sword and shield which would then slowly drain, as the light would soon go to his fellow compatriots.  That should last them for a bit before he had to get back to them.

    Rushing to the forward post where he had left the two, he would grab the Emerald Flame torch and stow it immediately.  It would be that sign that would signal the merchant and lizabeth to start their shut down acts.  The merchant had already made the place slightly livable, but with the immediate threats that were always abound, it made it hard to keep it as such.  The chameleon would immediately set to her task of setting herself next to the cart, ready to embark.  The merchant was slowly gathering his merchandise when the hunter shouted

    "We don't have time for that!  Get moving!"

    "Scribe, I will not allow these creatures to abscond or trample my services."

    "I'd rather not have them trample you.  Things have already gotten crazy after leaving you here.  Get out for now!"

    Hirru grumbled at the matter of having a old quest NPC as a shop keeper.  Being unable to physically make him disappear unlike some player's shops, was starting to show it's issues.

    "Things have been really coming up more and more lately.  Status effects are becoming more and more prevalent.  You'd think Dotes would work better, but it's more effective to lessen the damage and let them ride their course, than to waste time treating every single issue.  Too much to deal with.."

     

  15. A new quest?  No, this seemed much more off.  It was more in line with..

    Hirru had to hold himself from losing balance for a moment.  Was it.. those memories again?  They were there, but still not something he could readily access.  Though, that was something that he was still working on.  That and letting the world know what he was. 

    What in the world was going on up there that he had to deal with now?  The hunter could have sworn that they were 'taking care of the problem' on the 29th floor, but every time he thinks that; something else comes up.  Was it a certain quality of the floor to just have the worst possible things to happen at the best possible time?  That was the only thing that he could think of, and that was what they brought to that floor.

    It could be said that their very presence was the catalyst that was bringing this whole issue into light, but he didn't seem to think that was the true issue.  From the information that he was getting from some of the other players, this floor had no NPC's.  None, until he brought his own:  The Mysterious Merchant.  Did.. did he unintentionally cause another blunder of the front lines again?  He wasn't being a burden again.. was he?

    A message would drown out the thoughts from Wulfrin.  It seemed that the situation was to be his problem now.  To venture to the 29th floor to take care of the the emerging threat of...

    "What the hell are those?  Those weren't here before!"

    He would exclaim before slowly readying his foods and buffs.

    "Why is it that whenever something happens, it's always us?"

His opponent was testing him, it seemed.  Though to be fair, the hunter was testing himself as things were.  This was the first time in a long time that he had tried a damage farming build like this.  It really required the luck of the draw to do much of anything, but he heard that it can get pretty big, if it gets done right.  That is, if Hirru could ever get it to run right.  There were so many variables to the situation that he couldn't really think of a good way to guide it.  If he really wanted to he could just do this the slow and methodical way.  Hirru would pull out all his coins that he had left.  Though, this is not a life and death scenario and they were only being played with by things thinking that they were higher than they were.

    "Seven left.. so let's make this a big one.  I'll flip all of them.  I call Tails for all, and we can settle this with one blast."

    And so, all of them were tossed into the air.  One by one, they would fling and shimmer in the sky before falling.  Each one would land, and the hunter would start to chuckle before turning to hysterical laughter by the end.  Not only did they all nearly land on heads, but the last one decided to give him a slight boon and bestow the measly additional damage.  It was like the gods had seen the display and thought it pitiful, and showed pity on such an unlucky soul.  Though, that was enough for the hunter to not care about the whole thing anymore.  If the description of these things was right, then there was no doubt that Kiyabu's next attack that landed on him would be the last hit.  Letting his composure come back to him, he could not hope for anything better at this point.  This was all out of his control as it was.

    Wiping the 'tears' from his eyes from laughing so hard, the hunter would gesture to his opponent to proceed.

    "I'm a man of my word, and kept it till the end."

  17. She wasn't playing around it seemed.  His opponent had gone from conversation to planting the healing nullifier that he tried to use on Oscar a bit of time before.  With that, the sole way to recover from the blazing heat of this floor, or at least that's what he would have thought.  There wasn't much else he could do to combat the heat as survival wasn't doing it's part of keeping environmental damage to a minimum, but there were special rules that accompanied all of the arenas that he had gone through these past few weeks.  There were so many odd things going on, and he didn't ever want to deal with the current raid floor again for a while.

    "Then let's have a little fun with it all then"

    With a flourish, the hunter quickly swapped out this shield and armor for a heavy gauntlet and a gleaming bracelet.  His arsenal was ready for the fight ahead of him, though that probably wouldn't help him much as it would if he was somewhere else.  Though, he had only had time to work on this build from the previous week, and had not much luck in using it.  Though, that was mostly due to those damned coins and the gods messing with his chances.

    Soon after, the hunter and sprung after his opponent and swept her off her feet, and not in the romantic kind of way.  A high slash would wheel around, distracting from the sweeping kick from below.  As she fell, and second slash would use the momentum from both sweeping arcs to come down and smash Telrenya into the ground.  It was the only stunning move he had before gaining his sword arts back, but it would still be usable at this moment.

    "Let's give it our all!"

  18. This floor was something, if not a mess and a half.  They were fighting in a bloody crater this time around and there would be more of an issue if the floor decided that the crater needed filling soon.  He really didn't know how Kindling and Minako found these places, but the areas were becoming weirder and weirder as time got on.  Though, he was happy tp be away from the 29th floor any day.  That being said, sweating ones arse off was not one.  Thankfully, this tournament had worked in the hunter's favor and had allowed him to experiment on things that would help him out in future quests.  He didn't really need to fixate and stay with the support build, if he really didn't need to.  Most quests don't need Leadership to bolster damage or any cooldowns.  Though, that may change in the future.  No, the hunter was kind of glad that he could use his old skills more often, for now.

    Hirru looked to his opponent and thought that he recognized them, but couldn't shake the feeling from where.  Scratching his green hair a bit before letting the memory come to him.  That's where the ole boy remembered the lass.

    "Bialas!  That's where I remember you from.  I think you helped Cal, Jomei and Mac during that fight.  It's good to see you!  Though, this isn't really the best place for a conversation of this manner."

    Putting on his helm, raising the angelic shield, and keeping himself low.  As he set himself into position, three little rings of light would encircle themselves around the healer's shield arm.  This would be there for the sake of this floor.  He was sure that something was going to happen with this new arena.  He could feel the ticking damage, if not for.. why was survival not negating the environmental damage?

  19. The fight would start in neither of their favors, it would seem.

    Though his opponent would have the agility, Hirru would not let him find the right openings for his dagger to trace that art out to.  The system would be there to help the players to bring out their potentials, and help them fight the ever improving artificial intelligence that their enemies.  Though, when it came to the balance of two players that knew well of the system and how to work around the different opportunities that were given; one could see how much more different people were.  People can react quickly, if they know what to expect.  If they don't, then the system will make it impossible to miss.

    "If that is so, let's see for whom this first coin will bless.  I call Heads."

    With the point of his sword keeping horizontally pointed towards his opponent, the hunter would flip out a coin from underneath the gauntlet.  Flipping and glinting in the air, the hunter would take that moment to get into art position.  Though, it had been some time since he had used a sword art from the straight sword line, and couldn't find the right footing before shifting a little.  The art would start and stop as if the hunter had intentionally failed it.  It would be to his favor, as the ability of the heavy gauntlet would bolster the damage through each miss.  Gaining momentum as he missed, while gambling on the coins for more stacks.  As he did so, the coin would land on the ground, announcing to all that Hirru had called wrong.  The coin would disperse as the light would flow into his opponent's dagger.

    "Well, that's a bummer, but let's see how the next one will go."

    Readying the next coin as he kept his sword pointed and his shield on his back.  Although, not as turtling as his previous encounters, he was trying to cover many bases with this set up.  Though, there would be some more testing, as he had never had to use this stratagem before.

  21. Going from the 29th floor and having a colossal unknown entity follow your every movement; cursing you and everything you are, to having multiple unknown entities that can also curse you and everything you are.  Where was this tournament going and why was he even doing this anymore?  He got much more information than he really needed to have, but that just meant that there would be more to it.  There would be more fights against players that he had known for quite some time, and finally get to see the small quirks that make up their being.  Though, when he heard whom he was fighting, the hunter was quite puzzled.  He did not know who this was.  Most of the players that had joined the tournament were definitely front line material, or had actually fought on the front before.  Walking out into the new arena for this floor, the hunter would look on to opponent and wonder:  'where did you come from, and what is your story?'

    Quite rude in thought, but who could blame the guy.  After staying around the front for so long, one can sometimes forget the thousands that still try to survive on the lower floors.  Something that he keeps in his stories, but is humbled when he is reminded that he too was once roaming only the lower floors, as he could not survive the higher tiered floors.  Though, now he no longer roams, and only accompanies those that need the guidance or support.  It had been a long time since he was able to truly call himself a 'hunter'.

    So, to see this man here was just as humbling.  There was a future front liner here in the making, or so he would see.  Hirru did not don the paladin armor this time around, and instead was clothed just in the black turtleneck that he wore casually.  Though, his armor today was just a rather heavy gauntlet.  Not the heaviest of armor, but it counted towards his armor skill, even if it held no significant value to him.  In his other hand, he held a different blade than before.  A blade set that had been following him for a time.  The story of a lone knight that had been betrayed, but found to have also betrayed themselves.  A story that he felt akin to.  Leaving his shield on his back, the hunter held the two handed sword straight forward, and at the ready.  A glint of silver would glitter upon his red headband.

    "Boons from the gods will only get you so far."

    The green haired hunter would call out to his opponent as he willed himself to see just how far he could go.

    "Though, I guess one of luck will be with us both today."
