Well, more or less, it would be as if your character forgot the events of every new thread he participated in upon its completion. Other than that, he would keep the memories of everything that occurred before the amnesia began.

It's incredibly hard to base a character around anterograde amnesia, because they essentially lack the ability to gain character development. Most times where it ends up being used, it's employed more to reveal how other characters cope with it, while also introducing tension and conflict. So basically, it works as a plot device, but generally works against making dynamic characters.
