  1. A deep yawn escaped the noirette's mouth as he leaned back in a wooden, yet surprisingly comfortable, bench. The night air was warm, as it so often was on the First Floor. Perfect for a bit of late night relaxation. From what he could tell, by the lack of people around, Aoda was one of the few players who enjoyed the Town of Beginnings at night. Or maybe they were all just asleep.

Looking up, he gazed towards all of the bright stars. So virtual, yet so real. It never failed to amaze the lad. Suddenly, the lad leaped up from his wooden seat. Time for a snack. Aoda thought, walking forwards in the direction of the nearest cafe, which a few people had recommended in the past. Might as well try it out. The player gripped the handle of the glass door, opening it to let himself in the building.

  4. (Not the best quality post, but at least it's something. Sorry for the wait!)

Aoda's expression formed itself into a slight smirk as the girl nudged his shoulder. She'll do fine, so long as she focuses on hitting it. The noirette thought, turning to watch Airi continue their battle with the boar. She may not have done an incredible amount of damage, but she did enough to further progress the fight. All Aoda needed to do now was use a quick Sword Art and pray he landed a critical hit. Then the fight would be finished.

If only he was able to do that. Instead, he missed by a few inches, causing his footing to become unbalanced. Thankfully, the boar's attempt at striking Aoda was also unsuccessful. "Guess I'm the unlucky one now." He sighed, stepping back. Chances are, she'll be able to land another hit on this thing. That way, as long as neither of us miss, she might be able to get some better gear from the drop.

  5. "No worries. I feel the same way about the whole VR thing. We'd might as well enjoy our time here while it lasts, right?" Aoda responded, burying his hands in the depths of his pant pockets. "My name's Aoda, by the way. It's nice to meet you." It was definitely the most interesting way the raven-haired man had encountered a player. She seems nice enough. A conversation's never killed anybody, right? He thought, happy there was someone around to chat with, even if it was only for a little while.

"If you don't mind me asking, have you left the city yet? Or have you been in here the whole time?" Aoda inquired, although he knew it was unlikely that the girl had ever exited the safe haven known as the Town of Beginnings. From what he could tell, it was rare for a player to want to begin combat at such an early point, especially without a teammate. Aoda was no exception.

  6. The conversation between Aoda and the kid was abruptly interrupted, due to a strange girl tripping over him. His fault for sitting in the middle of the street, probably. Aoda stood up quickly, in order to help the girl back on her feet. "You alright?" The lad asked, reaching out his dominant hand to assist the unknown player. It was odd that neither of the two had noticed each other. He normally had decent awareness of his surroundings. I guess I'm just tired.

As he looked to his left, where the young girl had been only moments ago, he noticed that there was nobody sitting there. Not even the blankets that Eira had with her were there. Must have ran off. Kids, right? The swordsman thought, looking back to the player who was, surprisingly, still there. "Sorry about sitting where I was. I didn't see you coming." He apologized, scratching the back of his head.

  8. The girl seemed distraught by the amount of times she had missed her attacks. A slight frown formed across Aoda's face as she turned away. The boy's energy was becoming low. He had enough for one last Sword Art. Of course, if he were to land it, he'd probably get the last hit, which was the opposite of what he wanted. He didn't really need anything from it anyway. He'd rather Airi had it, if possible. Not having any enhancements on her weapon wouldn't be too useful in the future.

Aoda once again went in to attack the boar, this time without activating any Sword Arts. He swung downwards, missing the boar by quite a lot. Thankfully, before it was able to retaliate, the stygian-haired young man rolled out of the way of the incoming attack.

Taking a breath, he stood up straight and stepped towards the red-haired girl. "Hey," He started, in attempt to cheer her up, "You'll hit it next time, trust me." Aoda hoped his party-member would feel better about the battle now that she had been given some reassurance. Now convinced that she'd be successful in damaging the boar, the swordsman stayed back and waited, watching for any surprise attacks from their opponent.

  9. Aoda nearly jumped as a small bear cub had decided to charge him. At first, he thought it was a monster, who had decided to aggro him. But he quickly realized that he was, in fact, inside of the safezone. A familiar, then? The bear aimed a claw at the so called "Free" weapon, while another was directed at his mouth. "You want to eat the sword?" Aoda asked in a confused tone.

Suddenly, the possibility that the animal was not looking to consume the blade came to mind. Perhaps he was looking for food? Quickly, the player pulled up his inventory, looking through for anything he could give the bear cub. Unsurprisingly, there was no sort of food. "I've got nothing for you buddy. Sorry." He told the seemingly defender of the shop in a quiet tone, carefully kneeling down to pet him. Part of Aoda wished he had known about the food thing before showing up. "Next time I'm here I'll bring you double, deal?"

  10. Aoda let out a quiet sigh. "I don't blame you for thinking that way," The lad started, standing up from the spot in the grass where he had previously sat, "We've all wanted to quit at some point. I won't stop you if you feel like turning back now, but it would be great if you stayed, at least for a little longer. Who knows, you might even get the last hit on a boar soon." He wasn't sure what the girl was thinking. With other people around, the young man was positive she'd survive to see the end of the game.

"How about it? Want to keep going?" Aoda inquired, leaning back against the large, leaf-covered tree. Although the girl seemed down, he sincerely hoped she wouldn't give up so easily. They had only just started, after all. What was the fun in quitting so early? She'll come around.

  12. Aoda watched the fight, deciding whether or not he should attack the King or Queen Wasp. The Queen was definitely low, but with the lad's damage, he wouldn't have been able to kill it in one hit. In fact, it would have taken a lot more than a single attack. Raising his blade, he turned to the King, who Aereth was fighting. I'll let her get the last hit on that wasp and help Aereth with this other one. He thought, glancing towards Hidden for a moment.

Aoda charged in the direction of the Wasp King, cutting into it as his blade met it's body. Unfortunately, it did a minuscule amount of damage to the winged insect. At least it's something, right? The lad sighed, moving backwards to position himself in a safer spot. Aereth should be able to finish the job soon. After that, we'll be able to finish the quest and head home.

  13. Aoda watched carefully as the young girl swung at the boar, positioning himself to help if the boar were to suddenly change aggro and attack her. Instead, however, it ignored her completely, as if she wasn't even there. "Good. Don't look away from me." The lad muttered, waiting for the right moment to engage the animal. It charged at Aoda in fury, kicking dirt back as it moved. When he thought it was close enough, the swordsman, pulled down his blade, injuring their opponent once again.

As his sword touched the boar, he felt it's tusk insert itself into his leg. The boy winced for a moment, but was grateful that it didn't do too much damage. Pretty quickly they'd be done fighting the mob. It was his job to make sure his partner didn't take too much damage while they were still in combat. So far, he was doing that well.

  14. Aoda felt his blade cut straight through the Boar Pup upon touching it's virtual skin. Looking back, he saw the red line across it's side where it had been slashed. In retaliation, the beast had the swordsman's leg with it's hoof, dealing a minimum amount of damage. If the boars were any stronger, the quest might have been a challenge. However, they were even weaker than the standard pig, which wasn't much of a surprise, due to the name they were given; "Boar Pup".

As he fought the boar child, he wondered what it would feel like to take part in a real battle, against a competent opponent. This boar was child's play to him and he was such a low level. He needed to become stronger in order to battle with better skilled enemies. This quest would boost his stats a little, but it was nothing huge. Just a bit of health and such.

  15. Aoda challenged the boar with a swing of his blade. The pup dodged the weak slash with ease, however, causing the lad to fall unbalanced. This gave his opponent the chance to strike back. With a sudden squeal, the Boar Pup charge the young swordsman, knocking him over onto the virtual, green grass. That was a huge pain. I won't make that mistake again.

Aoda picked himself up off the ground and raised his one-handed curved sword. Better not let anybody know that I got knocked down by a weak creature like this guy. I'd never be let off the hook for that. He thought, a slight grin on his face as he approached the boar once again. "Let's try that again, shall we?" The young man muttered, glaring at the small beast. It's family had slain so many other players. He was going to make sure it didn't happen to him while he was taking on the quest.

  16. Before approaching the monster, Aoda searched the ground around him, hoping there was a crafting material to be found. Alas, there were none. It didn't bother him too much, of course, as he wasn't even able to use them at that point, but they were always nice to have on him.

Aoda stepped forward, nearing one of the many pups. As soon as he came into range, the creature's aggro locked onto him. It's red eyes glared at him, presumably in attempt to intimidate the man. However, it didn't work in the slightest. The creatures health and damage were too low to create and intimidating feeling. He just felt inclined to start the fight as soon as possible.

The lad drew his blade, gripping the hilt with his dominant hand. He stood strong, waiting for an attack  to come from his opponent. However, there were none. It seemed like the boar was also waiting for an attack. "If that's the way you want it then."

  17. Aoda turned away from the party in the distance and began stepping forward to a further part of the field, which was covered in small Boar Pups. The quest stated that he was to collect three "Boar Pup Tusks". Assuming they dropped one each, he'd need to fight at least three of the young creatures. How hard could it really be? They didn't seem to be that powerful. A lot weaker than most boars, if anything.

It was odd to be forced to fight creatures that were considered to be children. At first, it didn't sit right with the man, but he then came to the conclusion that they weren't real. None of this was. It wasn't as if he was killing a real animal. This was a virtual boar that would love to watch the lad shatter into pixels, as they had done to many other players before him.

  19. The mushroom seemed to be a lucky find, as there were no other materials in sight. This was a shame, since he had planned on taking the Earning a Living quest fairly soon, in order to take on a profession. He wasn't sure what he wanted to do, however. Since he was unable to switch his job later, it was a good idea to think about it before deciding too quickly. Cook or Artisan did sound like they could be intriguing though.

Turning around, he noticed a group of players fighting a group of boars. The two parties were about the same size, each containing four combatants. Part of him wanted to join in and help them out, since it seemed like their levels were boosting the strength of the monsters. However, he knew there was a quest that was in need of completing. Finish this first, then I can fight these boars.

  20. The boar pups, from what he had been told, were weak creatures and didn't drop any rare loot, other than the materials he was after. If that were the case, it would be a shame. Aoda could use some potions or a new set of armor. Quietly, the noirette exited the shop, shooting a friendly wave to the shopkeeper as he stepped out. Luckily, the shop was near the Town of Beginning's exit. This would make it a lot quicker to finish off the quest and turn in the materials dropped by the Boar Pups.

Just like that, he left the town, his eyes gazing down the long, seemingly never ending fields. As he strolled through the plains, the lad came across a spotted, red mushroom, which upon further inspection appeared to be a crafting material. "This could come in handy later." Aoda told himself, picking it up before continuing his path.
