  1. There was a faint but distinct tinkle tinkle as a small bell over the door announced his entry into the shop. Alec was pleased with the look and feel of the shop. It was small and quaint like many Mom and Pop stores back home. The shelves were clean and tidy with small vials in neat rows and various crafting reagents neatly organized by type neatly stored on the shelves. As Alec entered an older fellow (only hand full of years older than Alec actually) looked up from his work at the counter. He squinted towards the door first before taking his spectacles from his face and lying them next to him on the counter. Once he placed his glasses down his eyes refocused and a warm genuine smile spread across his face. "Welcome, welcome to Zakariah's Alchemical Supplies. I'm Zakariah how can I be of assistance to you good sir?"

  2. Alec took a moment to utilize another handy ability he had picked up just last week. He opened his HUD and saw an overlay if the Town, upon which he input the information for Zakariah's Shop. A small blue dot appeared on his HUD with an easy enough to follow route through the city to the shops location. He made his way slowly and carefully through the streets toward his destination. There were so many people in this Town at least more than two thirds as many as the small town from middle America he was from. He had never seen so many people in one place at one time. He imagined this must be what the large cities were like: New York, L.A. and Chicago. He couldn't wait to find his way out of this flooded city and get somewhere with less people. But first thing was first, he had to make his way to Zakariah's shop and meet with the man who start him on his journey to seeing his wife and son again. Step by step Alec made his way forward till eventually he was standing before a small tidy shop with an old symbol for alchemy etched on a battered and worn sign above the door. Alec took a deep breath to steady his nerves, grasped the handle and turned the nob. His adventure was about to begin...

  3. As Alec exited the Inn he scowled at all the people passing by. The Town of New Beginnings was crowded as usual with people bustling this way and that off to do whatever it was they intended to do. Alec stepped out into the throng of people and only my his shear mass was granted a minor bubble amongst the sea of pedestrians. Alec had a destination today as the previous day he had overheard while eating dinner of an Alchemist in town who was offering quests to get "newbies or noobs" as heard them called get started in the game and learn how to access it. If anything Alec could probably safely consider himself a "newbie or noon" seeing as how long it'd taken him to learn just how to access his inventory. His son Danny would have had none of the problems he was experiencing he thought wistfully. Danny was an expert at these sort of games. Heck Danny would probably be on the front lines already clearing floor after floor. The thought brought a momentary smile to Alec's otherwise grim and gruff demeanor. Then his usual scowl came back as that thought the next one "Which means Danny would have been trapped her instead of me!" The only reason Danny wasn't stuck in here was because of Alec's distrust and overprotective nature. Thank goodness for that! Alec would have never forgiven himself if the rolls were reversed and Danny had been stuck in here instead of himself. "Stop day dreaming and going soft in the head!!" Alec thought angrily "focus on what's important and what's right now! Quest! Zacharia! I need to find Zacharia's shop! Get the quest complete the quest rinse and repeat. Make it to the front lines beat the game!" It was Alec's mantra he had to finish this damnable game if he was ever going to see his wife and son again....

  4. Alec grasped the metal door handle in his oversized meaty fist and pulled the door open and scowled at the hallway outside his door. Empty as usual but what else did he expect it was always empty when he exited his room every morning. He exited his room and pulled the wooden door closed behind him as he made his way to the stairs that led to the common room. The stairs let out their usual creaks and groans of protest as he descended them to the common room. As he entered the common room he scowled as he surveyed the scene. The usual people were all sitting in their usual seats eating the same usual breakfasts. As he did every morning Alex thought darkly to himself "Was every darn person in this game a computer program?" it seemed to him that no one and nothing changed from day to day. At this rate he'd never make it home to his with Gwen and son Danny. He lumbered into the common room and took his usual seat at his usual table and ordered his usual breakfast: two eggs over easy, bacon, toast and a cup of coffee. It was a routine from his days before getting stuck in this "game". After finishing his breakfast he Rose from his table and ventured outside the Inn.

  5. Alec awoke from his rented bed in the Inn. He stood and stretched the tight knotted muscles in his back. "If this was supposed to be a video game and not real life why in the world did he still wake up stiff and sore every day?" he thought. He looked around the meager accommodations of his rented room and scowled his usual morning scowl. Nothing had changed it was still the same bland adornments and minimalistic room as always. With a shrug and a rub of his bald head he lifted himself from his bed and heard the usual creak of the wooden bed frame as he lifted his nearly six and feet of heavily muscled frame from the small bed. He opened his inventory "At least he knew how to do that now, it had taken him nearly a week to master that little trick." he thought grudgingly, and equipped his usual clothes of a tan breaches, a vanity shoulder pauldron and bear skin wrap with leather boots as he crossed his room to the door leading to the hallway.

    Height: just under 6 and a half feet tall massive upper body and barrel chested with thick arms and tree trunks for legs, Alec is beginning to gain a little softness about his waist and midsection due to his age.

     

    About - History/Personality:

    Alec grew up in a rural area of middle America he was gifted with massive size growing up and all physical activates easy for him. He helped out with neighboring farms and family friends when heavy lifting was needed. He participated and excelled in various physical sports at school Football, Wrestling and Track and Field throwing events. Alec was smart but the average sort of smart that was never going to lead to getting accepted into a college. So once Alec graduated school he went into the work force. He started working for the county as a garbage man. He stayed to the more manual routes and avoided the more automated truck routes as he preferred the physical activity of hanging off the truck and picking up the cans and dumping them in the hopper himself.

    When Alec was in is 20s he met the love of his life Gwen. They were happily married and eventually had a son Danny. Alec lived his life happy working for the garbage company and spending his free time with his wife and son camping, hiking and fishing. As Alec's son Danny began to grow up Danny began to discover video games and MMORPGs. Danny was a natural with Alec understanding very little of what Danny was talking about when he would try and explain his various games.

    Finally one day Danny came home ecstatic with enthusiasm about a new game that was announced called "Sword Art Online or SAO" as Danny explained. He proceeded to try and explain to Alec all about it and how elite it was and how limited the availability for it was. Alec listened to it all knowing he would have to break his sons heart when he had to explain that there would be no possible chance for him to get this for his son if it was as limited as Danny described. Alec did his part as a loving father and began looking up any lead he could find in order to secure the game for his son all to no avail. When one day within a month of SAO going on line Alec lifted a can of garbage to toss it's contents into the hopper of his truck when then can struck the edge of the truck and dumped its contents into the street. As Alec was picking up the trash he noticed a paper that was emblazoned with a promo code to purchase the Nerve Gear and access to SAO. Alec was ecstatic that he would be able to attain this which his son wanted so greatly.

    Alec used the  promo code to purchase the Gear and SAO for his son and kept it in secret to give to his son the day before launch. Alec decided that before he would allow his son to play the game he would need to try it out before he allowed his son to interact with it. As such it was Alec who was wearing the Nerve Gear when SAO went on line and as such it is Alec and not his son Danny who is trapped within the Death Game, much to Alec's relief. He would never have been able to forgive himself if it were his son trapped inside and not himself. As such Alec has devoted himself to helping clear the game so he can see his beloved wife and son again.

     

    Virtues: 

    Strong Resolve: Alec has an well of inner strength that he draws from to fortify himself in times of turmoil. He is not easily dissuaded when he has set his mind on a path. Alec does not get easily frightened or scared when he is set on a path.

    Protector: Alec sees it as his role to protect others from danger as he's always been bigger and stronger than most around him. He will place himself in harms way to defend another, especially if that other is a child. Alec despises bullying and will go out of his way to prevent bullying from happening.

    Stoic: Alec has a solidness that he exudes that makes others near him feel grounded and more sure. He makes other feel that even though the odds may be against them nothing is too hard or tough. He lends his resolve to others and grants them a level of surety they may have been missing and lacking before.

    Flaws:

    Single mindedness: Alec is completely focused on completing the game so he can get back to his wife and son. He diverts "minor distractions" and ignores them when focused on his task. He cares little for outside distractions that would take his focus away from completing the game.

     Gruff: Alec does not feel comfortable within SAO, he is out of his element and as such he rarely shows happiness or any emotion other than a grim gruff demeanor. Alec is not interested in finding "friends" here as he feels none of this is real and as such all those around him are not presenting their true selves. Alec will brush off any attempts at friendship unless the person is overly persistent and keeps trying.

    NONE OF THIS IS REAL: Alec has yet to grasp the full magnitude that this his new reality. He views all this as a game even if he can't get out. He will throw himself into situations more dangerous than necessary because it's only a game after all.
