  1. As Alec spoke, Symphony looked down and jumped when she spotted his familiar. "By the gods..." she gasped, then recomposed herself. "Sorry, I'm more used to hunting those guys than being their friends," she said while rubbing the back of her head, embarrassed. "And, I'm glad that Cloak doesn't bother you. He's been acting up a lot today. I think it's just the cold though, somehow making him restless." She shook her head and then looked back up at Alec.

    "The name is Symphony and well..." she looked over to her companion. "Seems like Cloak already introduced himself." She sighed. "And yes, I need directions to where the Avalanche monster thing is," she said in a matter-of-fact way. "I wish to kill it." She showed her map to Alec. "But... I'm not the best at directions, and I seem to have gotten lost." She laughed to herself quietly, still a little embarrassed.

  2. Symphony walked in after a day of hunting and gathering materials, Cloak, her raven familiar perched on her shoulder. She quickly sat down at a table and ordered a green tea for herself and a cup of water for her familiar.

    While they sat and enjoyed their drinks, Cloak looked over at the new stranger and crowed, getting his companion's attention. "Oh, a new person? Well, why don't we say hello." Symphony said while getting up from her chair and holding her arm out for Cloak to perch on.

    The two walked over to the young man. "Hey! How are you doing?" she asked. "The name's Symphony." She stuck her hand out for the stranger to shake. The woman was about 5 foot 4, wearing a deep blue set of light armor with a sharp dagger strapped to her side.

  3. As that same pig used the rest of its fiery spirit to charge at her, she held her blade and braced herself. At the last second, she sliced the head of the boar pup clean off and watched as the rest of its body disintegrated into pixels. She turned around and was quickly hit in the shin by another little piglet. Again, it did nothing but tick a point off of her health.

    In the sky above her, Cloak charged down in a quick dive and lifted the other little boar pup up in the air, dropping it a short distance to the ground. The indignant pig began to oink some boar curses as Cloak did happy circles in the air. "Good one, Cloak!" Symphony called up to her familiar, glad that he was having fun.

    Looking back down at the ground, Symphony's smile turned into a slight frown. The boar pup hadn't dropped a tusk, and she was growing impatient.

  4. Symphony looked around and saw one of the few actual players in the area sitting at the bar. She smiled and walked over, suddenly realizing as she grew closer how tall and broad the man was. "Uh..." Symphony lost her trail of thought as she looked up at the huge man. "Um, would you please be able to help me?" she asked, trying not to show her nervousness.

    This guy could literally take me out with a swoop of his arm, she thought to herself.

    Cloak ruffled his feathers and seemed not to care about the size of the man in front of them. Then he hopped onto the shoulder of the other player and started to groom himself. "Oh, my gosh!" Symphony yelled while trying to grab Cloak. "That is very rude! Very bad bird! We do not jump on strangers," she continued on while trying to catch her familiar. But the bird just hoppe to the other shoulder of the man, out of Symphony's reach. Symphony blushed in embarrassment and apologized. "I am so very sorry. He's usually not like this."

    @Alec

  5. Suddenly, Cloak saw an opening to distract one of the boar pups. He swooped down and pecked the little boar's tail, making it squeal and turn around in anger and frustration. The tiny beast charged at the mischievous bird, but Cloak was too quick and easily dodged the attack. Cloak cawed softly to himself, sounding as if he was laughing at the foolish beast.

    Meanwhile, Symphony saw her chance and lashed out at the second boar pup as it charged her. It hit the tip of her boot with a tiny headbutt before she was able to slash it into pixels. She looked up at her health bar and watched, bored, as it ticked down one health point. She sighed but was soon thrown off her feet as an annoyed boar pup charged her from behind.

    Picking herself up, she laughed at the effort of the little animal. "At least you have spirit," she said to herself.

  6. Symphony was wearing her deep blue armor with her dagger hanging at her side. Her companion, Cloak, flew above her, his feathers a shiny blackish-blue in the noon sun. She walked through the town, barely looking around her at the colorful shops and she tried to decipher the map she was holding in her hands.

    That was the one thing she was bad at: directions. She could never read a map for the life of herself, never mind trying to figure out what direction she was going. She sighed heavily and glanced up to look around her. Snow. Snow everywhere. Freezing and cold. Another thing she disliked. Though the snow falling was a bit pretty... She equipped a black fluffy overcoat and continued trudging down a snow-covered path, making her way towards the "Long Barrow" tavern. Hopefully she could find someone to give her directions in there.

    She walked into the tavern and stepped inside, looking around at all the strange faces in front of her.

  7. Symphony's eyes widened in amazement as she watched the odd, playful creature take flight. Then, Hazado's question knocked her out of her daydream. "Oh, right! Well, I was just up here looking for supplies and playing with Cloak." She looked up and smiled, watching as Cloak chased Nano around playfully in the air, the two enjoying themselves. "Really nothing much else to do around here. I might try to venture up to the higher floors to loot and hunt," she said, grinning. She looked back over at Hazado. "What about you? Completing a quest or something?"

    She found it a bit odd that Hazado would be back on the lower floors when he was such a high level. Maybe he was looking for something? But there wasn't really anything to do on the lower levels besides gather materials and fish. That was about it. Even looting didn't really bring up anything good on T1 floors.

    @Hazado

  8. She took an attack stance and braced herself. Cloak flew out of the trees as she launched forward, which startled poor Symphony and caused her to miss. She cursed under her breath as she picked herself up. She had ended up missing and stumbling to the side.

    As soon as she was back on her feet, 3 of the boar pups attacked her once more, still doing barely any damage at all. The only way that Symphony could tell she had taken any damage was by looking at the health bar at the side of her display. She could see just a tiny smidget of her health bar that was empty. The rest of the bar remained green.

    Up above his partner, Cloak soared and gazed down. He was looking for an opening to attack and distract one of the boars. He wished to help his partner as much as he could, and he felt a little bad for scaring and messing up her attack.

  9. Symphony blushed, embarrassed as Hazado mentioned danger. "Well, I haven't been completely safe, but I haven't been completely safe," she said while smiling and rubbing the back of her head. She then turned her attention down towards the familiar gathered around her friend's body. "And I see that you've also gained a little friend." She leaned forward and smiled at the odd creature. "Hi, little guy!" She wondered what exactly the creature was. "Uh, though what IS it?" She tilted her head curiously.

    Cloak fluttered above, staying just out of reach of the unique beast. He was naturally wary towards a creature that he had never seen before.

    Symphony looked up at her feathered friend, making sure that he didn't cause any trouble. Cloak was a mischievous raven at times. He would often chase squirrels and pull their tails just for the fun of it. He was also known to poke the behinds of boars.

    @Hazado

  10. As Symphony approached the clearing, she crouched down low in order to be able to watch her prey's actions without being noticed. She saw 5 boar pups alone in the clearing in front of her. Their mother must have been off finding foot in order to nurse the rowdy pups.

    Symphony held her hand in a fist as a signal for Cloak to stay quiet as she snuck forward to attack the first boar pup. Cloak stayed absolutely still as he watched his partner rush out and slash at the first boar pup. The poor thing didn't even have time to face Symphony before he was slashed in half. The animal burst into pixels as its HP suddenly rushed down to 0. One hit kill.

    Meanwhile, the other boars had enough time to turn around and face the stranger in front of them. 3 of the boar pups were able to land quick hits on Symphony while only one cowered behind its brothers. The hits didn't feel like anything against Symphony's set of armor.

  11. Symphony left Lyle Tealeaf's blacksmith shop. She had been given instructions to find 3 boar pup tusks as materials for the blacksmith's projects. The tusks could be turned into firm, shiny handles and guards on Lyle's weapons.

    Cloak, Symphony's raven familiar, came fluttering down and landed on her shoulder as Symphony stepped out onto the pathway that wound its way through the center of town. "Hello, there," she said to Cloak while petting his head. He crowed happily and nuzzled her cheek with his own. She smiled and petted him before he flew off above her, still keeping with her brisk walking pace.

    Symphony looked forward and headed towards the gate heading out of town. Once outside of the safe zone, she made her way towards a clearing deep in the woods where she knew boar pups and their mums gathered regularly. It was a lovely spawn point with plenty of coverage provided by the thick brush around the clearing.

  12. Symphony was bustling about on Floor 3, looking around at all the plants and scenery around her. "Wow, Cloak, isn't it beautiful here?" she asked her raven familiar. He cawed in agreement while soaring above her.

    As she made her way about the floor, she spotted a familiar face walking down the path towards her. She tilted her head out of curiosity and made her way closer to the tall man. As she moved closer, she realized that the man was Hazado. She fondly remembered how he had rescued her and another player when they were in a fight way over their heads.

    Symphony's face brightened with a smile, and she raced towards the man. "Hazado!" she yelled as she ran towards him, happy as could be.

    "Long time no see! How have you been?" she asked as she stopped right in front of him. She was still quite small, and the height difference was emphasized between them as she stood next to him. Her in her dark black long cloak with black leather armor fitting tight to her curvy figure, he in his normal attire. Quite a contrast indeed.

  13. Symphony was about to attack when she suddenly heard something behind her. She stopped combat and ran back into the forest around them, disappearing into the brush. A strange high-pitched noise had made its way towards her. It called out to her.

    She did feel bad for leaving Katagawa, but she was also aware that the sound was one of danger. She had heard it before. She knew the sound meant bad things, and she wanted to save someone else before the bad thing happened. "Sorry, Kat!" she yelled back as she ran off. "I just remembered that I have to deal with something. It's... important." Turning back around, she raced off deeper into the forest. She ran as fast as her legs could take her, and they soon started to ache. But she kept fighting on. She would run until her legs gave out if she had to, in order to save another life.

  14.

    Symphony smiled and concentrated, her face growing a little bit serious. Then she charged at the second crocodile. As she approached the beast, it reared up and spread its jaws, trying to attack. But Symphony was much too quick for the beast. She dodged the attack and struck the beast four times along its right back side. Rearing away from the swift woman, the crocodile hissed and hid half of its body in the water, letting the coolness of the liquid help numb the pain of its wounds. Its eyes grew cautious, and the beast went on the defensive. It would try not to be too brash and make the same mistake again.

    Meanwhile, Symphony backed a safe distance away from the angry animal and turned to face Jomei. She smiled and said, "Took care of him a little for ya." She knew she didn't do too much damage as a lower level player, but she had managed to take a couple points of health off of the crocodile without getting attacked.

  21. Symphony decided that the best course of action to try and finish this battle quickly was to go for the soft spot underneath the snake. The hard part was that the snake kept most of its body lowered to the ground when on guard. She would need to get the thing to show its weak spot somehow... Suddenly, she had an idea. She whistled for Cloak to distract the monster by going for its eyes. Cloak immediately dived for the giant snake, making it launch an attack upwards, exposing its scales.

    Symphony took this small opportunity to quickly dash forward and strike the snake four separate times, quickly and efficiently. Her final strike paralyzed the snake, giving her a moment to recover some more health before the thing got the chance to attack her again. Symphony held her chest and winced, finally getting the chance to focus on her injuries. It seemed as though her ribs had been broken in that first hit, but the SAO system had caused them to heal back into place quickly. The pain was only subtle now.

  22. Coughing and trying to catch her breath, Symphony lay on the floor for a few moments. Cloak immediately flew into action, pecking the snake atop its head to keep it distracted while his partner recovered. Symphony was very grateful for this, and after a few moments she was able to slowly get up. Her vision was dizzy as she rose onto her feet, dagger drawn and in her right hand. She threw the dagger at the beast, but the dagger merely glanced off of the scales on its sides. The monster turned to her and hisses, its forked tongue flashing out of its mouth.

    Symphony cursed and ran around the snake, grabbing her dagger and avoiding another attack. Once behind the snake, she faced it and prepared for her next move. The beast had really hurt her. Even the armor she wore only covered a minor fraction of the damage. She needed better armor and equipment if she wanted to beat this thing...

  23. While munching on her meal, Symphony threw her line back in the water and waited for something to bite. And something did right away. But it was too powerful. She fought to reel the thing in, but it broke the line. "Aw, man, it got away.." Symphony said. However, right after she said this, a giant fish monster jumped out of the lake and onto the ground next to her.

    This monster was at least 12 feet tall. It had blue scaled and was like a giant water snake, with fins on its side. It coiled up and raised itself to its full height, ready to attack at the slightest moment. It had foot-long fangs that could rip an enemy to shreds. Symphony made not to avoid these. It had frills that raised on the back of its head and at the side of its head. The side gills rested next to gills.

    Without a warning hiss or movement, the boss monster snake-thing charged at Symphony at lightning speed and knocked her with its head against a tree a couple feet away.

  24. Symphony noticed the sky changing above them and took note of it. She whistled for Cloak to keep a look out and stay close in case they suddenly became trapped in a storm. Then she turned and listened to Jomei. She nodded as he spoke, her expression thoughtful. If I keep doing quests and fighting, she thought to herself, then maybe I can read the front lines in about a year. She knew she would need to work very hard if she ever wanted to catch up to Jomei's level as well. One day.

    "Hm, maybe I'll be able to fight with you guys one day in a year," Symphony said to the man, teasingly sticking her tongue out after she said so. "Though, if I could get some shots in, then maybe I could have a better chance at leveling..." She laughed and stepped over to Jomei to pat him on the back. "I kid, don't worry. We'll just need to find more enemies to balance things out." She looked around them and wondered where a good spot for a small mob would be.

    @Jomei

  25. Symphony felt something tug at the line after a bit of time had passed. Cloak cawed in excitement as she started reeling the thing in. What was on the line... It was 3 materials! Woo! She did a happy little dance and tucked the items into her inventory to be used for crafting later.

    Now, the skewers were ready as well! She quickly put the four skewers on a plate. She moved one to a mini plate for Cloak, who pecked the pieces off one by one. She took a bite and decided to add a bit more salt to the steak. Now, it was perfect. She munched happily and drank some water from her canteen. This was the life indeed. Just relaxing by the lake, fishing and eating. The steak was nice and juicy, a nice meaty taste. The onions and bits of carrots were nice and smokey, still a bit of a crunch to them.
