  1. The girl, who was indeed one of Astralin's real world friends, Pisces, had trouble coming up with words to say at the immediate moment. After a few seconds passed, she spoke. "I- Um, I'm doing well, I guess... But...h-how are you happy to see me? We're both trapped in this place, and we...we can actually die...." The young woman shook slightly, terrified as she reminded herself of her situation. "Pisces, Pisces, it's ok, I'm alive and well, and so are you!" Astralin responded. She hoped to cheer her up. "You know what we say, especially when times get tough. 'The Stars bring The Light...' " " 'To both Day and Night', yes, I know the saying, Aries started it ever since her mother suggested it...I just...I'm worried, you know?"

    After Pisces finished the saying and gave her thoughts, Astralin let out a soft chuckle. Same ol' cautious shy girl as she often was...

  2. The Town of Beginnings really was bustling as usual, but all that foot traffic was unlikely to stop Astralin. She waded through the usual crowds, but eventually the size of the crowd lessened to a tolerable size as Astralin continued along...and then she saw someone who seemed very familiar... She began to walk closer as to get a better view of the individual, and she would indeed recognize the person.

    Astralin's jaw dropped. "Pisces...?" She said as she exhaled in surprise. Without further ado, she ran over to her friend who she recognized. "Pisces!!!" She called out as she rushed over. The girl looked shocked upon seeing Astralin, contrary to Astralin's excitement of seeing a familiar friend, despite all the danger they were in by being trapped in a virtual prison like this. "L-Libra...?" She uttered out. Astralin hugged her, then jumped up and down with excitement after letting go of her. "It's been so long, I'm so happy to see you! How are you?" She asked.

  3. Astralin noticed that Koga had put his hand on his weapon. This wouldn't end well if those two saw that.

    "Wait...yeah, I know you...you're that Astralin girl...disrupting a well-planned speech, you completely divided the crowd's thoughts!" The first of the two realized. "Oh, her, ok...it's not like I was there, but Adrisse wasn't too pleased about-"

    The first of the two put his hand over the other's mouth, stopping him from speaking. "What are you doing? She's not supposed to know that..." He attempted to whisper.

    "You do realize I could hear that, right? Maybe you could try using the messenger system next time?" Astralin noted. The two players looked at her as if they didn't anticipate that. Then the one who was stopped from speaking got wide-eyed as he spotted Koga's hand on the weapon. He tapped his ally and pointed over to Koga, and the ally would take notice and let go of his grip on the player. "Easy now, we're not itching for a fight...yet." he claimed. The other one would stand firm once released from his ally's hand. "We're the Knights of Avalon, a dedicated group seeking an ideal future. Astralin there disrupted an attempt to rally players and potential recruits, but it's not like I've got any beef with her...this guy might, I dunno." He explained.

    Astralin looked over to the first of the two. "Well...do you?"

    The player Astralin was speaking to looked at Astralin, then to Koga, then to Astralin again. "N-no...not yet. Besides, We're off to get a pendant from a labyrinth and we're already short on time, so if you'll excuse us..."

    Astralin raised an eyebrow. "After the same thing as we are, hm? Guess it's a race then..." She then got an idea as soon as she said that. If Koga really knew some of the way around the maze, she already had an advantage. "So maybe you two can enter the maze first since you were already headed over before us." She suggested. She quickly accessed her messenger and began forming a message, and looked over to Koga. "Sound okay with you?" She asked, before sending the message...

    I know that you've been to the maze before, and it's likely that they haven't, that would give us the advantage, right? Even if it's just a few turns or paths, I'm sure it's better than nothing!

    Hopefully this would end without unnecessary fighting...

  4. Koga noted his thoughts on The Dream, primarily on his opinions of its occurrence. "Guess that explains the mushrooms, then. I had a hunch it was those, but now I can confirm it, I guess. I'm not sure what else could cause such a mass dream around here at the moment." Astralin remarked as she pulled out her other book, which contained Astralin's alchemical notes, going to a certain ingredient's entry and replacing "uncertain" with "somewhat confirmed".

    Koga gave his thoughts about Astralin's words, and then he would ask her what she would end up doing if she didn't join the Frontlines. "To be honest, I don't know yet...sure, I'm pursuing Alchemy, but that probably wouldn't be enough on its own..." She admitted.

    Surprisingly, there weren't many enemies around, save for the ones that only turn hostile when attacked, but it wasn't long before Astralin would learn the reason why...

    "You sure it's this way?" A male voice from a short distance asked. "Of course it is, it was literally marked on my map, you can trust me." Came another male voice, probably directed to the previous one...

    Other Players, that must have been why there were less monsters that attacked on sight. The two who the voices belonged to came into view as Astralin continued to follow Koga, and on their gear was a familiar symbol...

    It was that group again, the ones that showed up that one day, trying to find potential recruits via a speech from one of their higher members, which Astralin had somewhat turned into a discussion...she didn't know if they would have a very good opinion of her after that, unless these two didn't recognize her.

    Astralin stopped for a second as they looked at her....yup, they recognized her. "Wait...don't we know that girl from somewhere...?" One of the two asked. "I sure don't. Do you?" The other answered his ally.

    "Um...hello...?" Astralin asked nervously.

  5. Astralin had learned of an NPC Alchemist named Evangeline Calora, who was capable of teaching players on how to become alchemists themselves. She wanted to make her own potions, she wanted to tap into this profession. Not all mages did so, but many would indeed tap into the mysteries of alchemy and potion-making. "I am SO excited about this!" She thought aloud. She would continue on the Town of Beginnings's streets, looking for the shop where she could learn to become an alchemist. She was really getting close to cracking down how far she could go, and how close she could get...once she had combat style, skill usage, and Alchemy down, the last would be to research Vanity effects, and the rest would simply be to keep on improving on all traits...and she could, in a way, see herself as a mage at long last. She currently did somewhat, but she knew she had a ways to go.

  6. Koga seemed to be both surprised and confused, and guessed that he missed quite a bit. "Yeah, well, not everyone had The Dream, but from what I've heard from some, not everyone who had an unusual dream had the same one, but...it was kind of strange that it all happened that one night. One of the couples within this game, Vigilon and Krysta, they had The Dream as well, same scenario I found myself in! There were these three strange, overly muscular figures with the heads of monsters...it was really weird, and hard to explain..." She explained. Koga asked Astralin if she was aiming for the Frontlines. "That's...actually a difficult question. I know we're trying to get out of this game and all, but I gotta get stronger and then see where I stand among the players of SAO and all their own strengths. It won't stop me from doing my part, even if the Frontlines aren't for me...I just know there's gotta be something out there." She admitted.

    @Koga

  7. Astralin saw Koga's username and HP appear below her own. He really was unharmed, after all. The two would begin the journey to the forest, and Koga would ask what level Astralin was. "My level is Eighteen at the moment, but I'm getting there, up to the higher levels, I mean. So much that I didn't expect kind of helped me through, of course...such as the long training session following a strange dream, A peaceful celebration over on the twenty-second floor, too bad it was rudely interrupted by this weird group of Zombie Monsters with crystals all over their bodies, what did they call themselves, um...ah, I forget...but they totally ruined one of the best floors I'd ever been to! I sure hope that Lake is fixed by the Cardinal..." She rambled in response to a simple question that only needed a simple answer. She must have had a lot on her mind, and even she would realize that even after she'd finished the explanation.

    @Koga

  8. Astralin accepted the handshake. After all, it was a nice little greeting gesture in a virtual world that, for the time being, had no suddenly mutated diseases or corrupted blood to cause an Aincradian Pandemic.

    "Let's see, uh, I think I remember the way to the maze. I don't remember much about the maze itself, though, if I'm gonna be honest."

    Astralin had a reassuring smile on her face. "Well hey, it's a start, and I'm grateful for that." She noted. Koga would then note that all that was left was for Astralin to send him a Party invite and they could be on their way. Things were already looking much better for Astralin. "No problem. I may need the levels, but I'm kind of excited for this quest, so maybe we can keep all the fighting and encounters to a minimum until we reach the quest location." She explained as she sent a Party invite to Koga. As long as anything didn't get aggro'd, this wouldn't be too much of a problem. Besides, she had a party member now!

    @Koga

  9. The man correctly guessed which quest that Astralin was taking, and then offered to help, claiming he had taken it before. Clearly, the item was now proven to respawn after some time due to this claim, as well as other rumors she'd heard... "Wait, really? Wow, thanks!" Astralin responded, a bright smile on her face. "I know that it's in some kind of maze, so I guess it might be somewhat easier with someone who's successfully done the quest, not that I'm assuming you remember the way or anything, but it might at least help to have an ally who knows at least a bit more than I do as to what to expect." She remarked. "Oh, I completely forgot to introduce myself! My name is Li-" She stopped herself and cleared her throat. "My username is Astralin, nice to meet you!" She said as she smiled again. "Whew, barely slipped right there, hopefully he doesn't mind..." She thought.

    @Koga

  10. "Y-yeah, I'm sure, but hold on, is that a spellbook? I didn't think we had magic in SAO,"

    Astralin smiled. "Well, that won't stop me from trying to get as close as I can." She said with a wink. "I am a magic-user at heart when it comes to fantasy genres, after all. I thought there was going to be some, but it looks like my options are pretty limited... Support skills seem to be the closest I've actually gotten, but in terms of damage, well, that was a bit difficult to figure out at first." She admitted. "I'm really not very blade-savvy, nor am I one for those bulky bludgeons either, so in the end, that left only one other option for me..." She explained as she closed her Skillbook, and lifted one of her hands into the air, looking at the handwrap equipped on it. "So I simply see myself as having the ability to channel my inner power in both damage dealing, and healing, delivered by physical contact." She lowered her hand, and put away her Skillbook. "So, anyway...were you about to say something?" Astralin asked, just in case.

    @Koga

  11. Well, at least he was fine... "Yeah, I'm okay..." Astralin answered.

    "You should really watch where you're goin'."

    Astralin's hands came together behind her back as she felt embarrassment. "Aaaahhh, I know... I was really excited to get started on my next quest, there's this stone labyrinthian tomb in the Forest of Wavering Mists, said to hold a mysterious pendant...I'm very curious to see what it is, and if it's worth anything to me...you're not hurt or injured, are you? I've got just the thing for that if you are..." Astralin explained. "Within me, I carry power and energy, to be used for both destructive and restorative purposes..." She noted as she pulled out her Skillbook from her inventory and opened it. If the player she was speaking to was to pay any attention to the book's cover, he would see plenty of mystifying symbols, as well as star and galaxy inspired design patterns on it. "Ah, yes, this one might do the trick." She thought aloud. "So, do you need healing? I kind of got carried away..." She asked a bit nervously.

    @Koga

  12. Astralin made sure she was prepared for the trip she'd planned. She might not have had much, but no matter how over prepared or under prepared one was, it was always wise to bring along a Teleport Crystal. "Right, rations: Check. Water supply: Check. Handwraps: Check. Mage Outfit: Check. Change of clothes: Check. Amulet: Check. Spellbook: Check...well I think that's every- Oh! Right, I almost forgot the book I was saving for alchemical research! Gotta have that when going out into the wilds!" She would find the book stored in a drawer, and take it out. After all, she'd lose anything she didn't take with her, due to the fact that she was going from inn to inn every night. Hopefully she'd be able to find some kind of property of her own so that she wouldn't have to keep spending all her col on rooms to stay in... For the time being, she made sure her battle-ready equipment was equipped, and stored the rest, such as the alchemy studies and her Skillbook(the book she always called her spellbook), into her inventory. She then raced off with all due speed for the safe zone's edge, but she should have remembered that was a bad idea...for she bumped into someone as she was nearing the settlement's end. "Aagh!!"

    Well, that could have gone better as a start. "Okay, I really need to stop doing that..." She thought. "I'm so sorry, are you alright?" She asked the one who she'd bumped into.

  14. "Thanks," Felana began. "You're a very interesting one, that's for sure." She noted. "I guess you were pretty lucky there, claiming victory, despite failing to strike me when I was paralyzed." She added. Astralin appreciated the compliments. "Thanks...you were really good during that fight...it's been so long since I've encountered a fellow mage in gaming, due to the nature of this world...wait, that gives me an idea..." "What's the idea?" Felana asked, intrigued. "How about we become rivals?" Astralin asked. "Think about it, as far as we know, we're the only mages in Aincrad. Rivals don't necessarily have to be enemies, either. We can just spur each other on to become better than we are now! What do you think?" She explained. Felana appeared to be in thought for a moment, then with a smirk, she said, "Deal." Astralin's smile refused to fade. "I'm sure we'll help each other soar to even greater heights!" She remarked excitedly.

    Summary:

    Astralin receives: 2 SP(1 Page completed, Quarantine Bonus), and 400 Col

  15. Well, it was time to make things a bit different. Felana charged her sword art, and Astralin waited to hear Felana's voice. However, Felana rushed in to attack and then she spoke. "Ahrra Eltas!" Ok, this was new, and therefore Astralin wasn't able to dodge so easily. If Astralin didn't do something quick, she would surely lose the fight.

    Now, it's time to start a phrase for the Damage-dealing Martial artists out there in Aincrad... When in doubt, punch it out.

    Astralin made a rather simple attack, punching Felana right in the face. Felana would find that her attack was met with swift, almost immediate retaliation, and the battle was over. "I never expected your power to hold such things..."

    The word <<Winner!>> would appear above Astralin's head. The duel was over, Astralin had won. "Whew...that was a close one. You put up a really good fight, Felana." Astralin said with a smile, before offering her hand to help Felana back up. Felana smiled, and accepted her help.

  16. "Took too long again, you really could have won this already if you just attacked while I was paralyzed." Felana pointed out. Well, that was true. "Ahrra Eltas..." Felana said as she charged up her sword art again. However, she tripped over a stone and fell. Astralin took this chance to charge up her sword art. "Ethea Daldes!" She called out as her eyes glowed, the vanity effect of her amulet activating as usual. Of course, Astralin ended up missing again. There shouldn't have been any surprise there, I mean, honestly, both of the combatants, Astralin and Felana, had only one phrase and style applied to their one chosen sword art for this battle, which would kind of make their attacks at least a little, if not a lot, predictable. At this rate, missing was almost guaranteed, with how swift they both were, how they learned to dodge each others' attacks, nothing would change at this point...unless someone did something different.

  17. "How's that?" Astralin asked. Felana laughed. "It's almost like we are equals, but let's see if that theory holds truth. Besides, it could be anyone's battle at this rate." She remarked. Astralin smiled. She hoped this would lead to at least some form of friendship, which would most likely be packed with spars like these. But where would this potential friendship lead, exactly? Would they be close allies, common friends, friendly rivals, maybe? The two definitely seemed to have the qualifications to be rivals of some sort, with them both striving for the closest they could reach for magic...But Astralin was getting too lost in thought at this rate, and she needed to keep her focus on this battle. "Ethea Daldes!" She called out, charging her sword art as she prepared to attack again, her eyes glowing due to her amulet's vanity effect. Felana's paralysis ended, and she managed to dodge the attack.

  18. Felana looked over to the crow, Astralin looked to the crow, with both of her hands over her mouth. The crow shook itself off, looked to Astralin, then to Felana, then to Astralin again. It screeched at Astralin and flew off. Felana watched it fly off, and she shook her head. "I can't blame either of you, but that bird should have paid more attention in its flight...same goes for the one that crashed into my face." She remarked. "Now...where were we...ah, yes. Ahrra Eltas..." Felana said as she charged up her sword art again. She managed to strike Astralin this time, dealing a fair amount of damage. "Go on, show me the power you have again!" Felana called out to Astralin. Well, let's just say she wouldn't need to say that twice. "Ethea Daldes!" Astralin said as she charged up her sword art, and managed to strike Felana with a powerful blow that paralyzed her, and inflicted bleed, too.

  19. "Seriously, the later you start your attack, the more likely I'll be able to dodge it." Felana remarked.

    No no, she's got a point.

    This time, both combatants wouldn't notice what was arriving. The flock of crows had returned....or, rather, one of the flocks, to be exact. One of them veered off from the rest of its flock, not knowing of the ongoing combat between Astralin and Felana.

    Felana was ready to attempt another attack. "Ahrra Eltas..." She said once again as she charged up her sword art. She would move in to strike again, but Astralin would dodge the attack. Astralin then took this chance to attack. "Ethea Daldes!" She called out as she activated her sword art, her eyes glowing.

    And that's when the rogue crow showed up.

    Astralin's attack missed Felana, but the crow, getting caught in the crossfire, was hit by the end of the missed attack, and was knocked several feet away. "Birdie, no!" Astralin called out.

  20. The siege engine was well on its way towards its destruction. Its HP was dropping with every hit, ailments were being placed upon it, and it was...sweating oil? Astralin stopped for a moment, confused as to why this is. It was a siege engine, it didn't have any glands or organs...maybe it was leaking oil, or maybe...this was some sort of arcane mystery explainable only by mystics or sorcery?? Astralin thought about it for a moment. "Maybe...it has monster souls trapped inside it?" She thought aloud. "Maybe they aren't necessarily monsters' souls...but nevertheless...I think we should release the trapped souls by destroying the siege engine they're trapped in!" She guessed, also thinking aloud. She charged up her sword art again, the vanity effect of her amulet activating as well, causing her eyes to glow until she finished her attack. "Nulusei Eirri!" She called out as she struck the Trebuchet with another Tornado Kick Sword Art.

  21. After Astralin defeated the remaining enemies guarding the siege engine, two players commended her.

    "Clean up nice!" A male player remarked.

    “Good work–!” Said a female player.

    Astralin looked to them both. "Thanks!" Astralin responded, beaming over the compliments on her performance thus far, despite that she's only been dealing damage for the duration of the battle. Whatever the case, it was time to destroy the siege engine itself. "Alright...this will be a bit easier with everyone helping out..." She was feeling confident now, as this was currently going better than expected. She began charging up her sword art, and the vanity effect of her amulet activated, causing her eyes to glow until she finished her attack. "Nulusei Eirri!" She called out as she moved in to strike the Trebuchet. While she wasn't going to deal the most damage, it was better than nothing. She was sure that the players would win this battle...at least, she was sure that the Tier 1 players would win, she hadn't been paying attention to the other battles just yet.

  22. The battle continued, and no one responded to Astralin's apology. Maybe they were just too busy handling those who still stood. Astralin watched the battle continue, no player was harmed. Astralin waited, more phalanxes fell. Astralin waited, three enemies remained, aside from the massive siege construct. It was time to handle the problem. Astralin was going to have to do something again, but she wouldn't be healing... She would be attacking...again. "Well, it's far better than doing absolutely nothing..." Astralin thought. She took a deep breath, and was ready to make her move. She knew exactly which spe- er, Sword Art, to use in this situation. She knew how she was going to finish the job...at least, for the minions puppy-guarding the siege instrument, that is. She readied her Sword Art, and with her equipped amulet's vanity effect, her eyes began to glow as she made her way to her targets, calling out, "Fadrea Allun!" She leapt off the ground, and with a single backflip, she struck the remaining Phalanxes with a sweeping attack, finishing them off.

    "Whew...that should be the last of those." Astralin remarked. For a player supposed to be in the healing role, she had a fair number of monster kills for this battle.

  23. The battle had begun, but right now, all the players were unharmed...

    Astralin knew the role she needed to play was haler, but... she couldn't just stand there and do nothing until someone else got hurt.

    She heard what one of the players called out to everyone as she unleashed her own area of effect attack, and she heard what another player had said as she attacked a single target. She took her thoughts into consideration, and made her decision from there.

    Be it just a game, or even a different reality, there was no way she was going to simply stand by.

    Astralin readied herself, then charged her sword art as she called out,  "Nulusei Eirri!" Before leaping towards four Phalanxes that had all been previously struck by one player before, and striking all four of them with Tornado Kick. This aerial sweep was slightly more than enough to finish them off, and this result made Astralin feel better about her decision to not just stand around until something went wrong. Throughout Astralin's attack, the vanity effect within her equipped amulet was active, and thus her eyes glowed for the duration of her attack.

    Astralin looked back to the players once the four Phalanxes shattered. "I couldn't just stand there, doing nothing, until someone got hurt." She admitted. hopefully, they would understand.

  24. Astralin was making mental notes on the current setup as the players revealed what they were capable of, despite that not all of the players answered immediately, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Damage, Jack-of-all trades except for healing, not-very-experienced swordsman, damage...

    Oh, dear, things were worse than expected...but this resulting turnout should have been expected. The average MMO was often filled mostly by damage-dealers, tanks and healers were often hard to come by, after all...

    "...I see." Astralin noted, her expression seeming slightly worried, seeing that she herself had the least defenses, meaning that in a dangerous battle, a tank should be essential for a build like Astralin's...as well as almost everyone else in the vicinity. "I just might have to focus entirely on healing for this one, then. My defenses are outright terrible..." She revealed. She then moved her hand over to a bag on the right side of her waist, and pulled out her skillbook from it. She opened it up and looked to the skills she knew she had unlocked, which she had written in said book. If one was to pay any attention to the book's cover, they would see plenty of mystifying symbols, as well as star and galaxy inspired design patterns on it. Astralin had her reasons for having a skillbook...including information as to how she herself would activate the skills, which she had practiced and written down the positive results of onto the book. Now having made sure she knew how to use the skill set she would carry into battle, she returned her skillbook to its bag. "There, I think I should be ready now." She said with a hopeful smile on her face.

  25. The next incredible sight would be ruined by a sudden attack on the floor itself. One moment, Astralin had been looking towards the stars as brilliant lights burst and shone among the stars, and now Astralin was but a falling star, headed straight to her doom in the dark below...

    Except, she didn't really die.

    Instead, some sort of power had saved her. Was this God, or was this Magic? Either way, she had to thank him for helping her out, even if it was through some kind of magic done by an NPC, not that she was able to witness anyone or anything doing something due to the speed she was falling at just before. She landed pretty hard, but not enough to deal damage. "AAAACK!"

    Astralin got up slowly, and saw about 5 others who had already gotten up. She didn't know if any others had fallen, or even if those few may have been fine. Whatever the case, Astralin accessed her inventory to equip one of her two pairs of handwraps, and pulled out the immolation potion she had purchased prior to this disaster. "Well, I guess this is why everyone goes armed and ready at almost all times..." She muttered. She checked her condition, and found that whatever had saved her had also given her some assistance for the coming battle. Astralin smiled, now realizing and feeling what must have been going through her, aside from the tingling of her collision with where she now stood. It was a pleasant feeling. She would drink the immolation potion she'd pulled out, and was ready to try and speak to the others. "Alright," She began. "We need to make a battle plan while we still have a chance. I know that I can heal minor wounds, and strike with my innate power! We should let each other know what we are capable of, and form a plan from there!" She suggested to the already awakened players.
