  1. As Violet closed her eyes for a second and winced at the pain and ringing in her ears caused by the high pitched buzzing of the wasp, the monster saw its change. It quickly dashed forward and struck Violet in the middle of the chest with its stinger. The woman clutched at the hole in her armor as she was thrown back from the momentum of the attack. Looking down to assess the damage, she saw that the tip of the stinger had managed to enter into her skin, causing a slight opening where it had dug in. Luckily, it wasn't a life-threatening or over-powered attack, and the stinger didn't seem to have released any venom with this attack. Violet gave a sigh of relief as she knew the venom in these giant wasps could take down a large lion or giant snake -- more than enough to take out a small woman such as herself. She counted herself lucky and decided not to let herself be taken by surprise again.

  2. A low buzz emanated from where the wasp's proboscis was. It seemed to be saying, Don't laugh little woman. I will still murder you -- or something of the nefarious sort. Violet merely cocked her head at the odd noise. "Alright. Knock it off. Your stupid wasp sounds are giving me a headache," she growled as she rubbed her temple with her left hand. The wasp took this as an opening where the woman was letting her guard down. However, the loud buzzing of the wasp gave its movements away too quickly -- in fact as soon as it began moving closer. Violet easily dodged the large thing's stinger as it charged with its stinger-butt aimed down. "Too slow," she complained as she waited for the enemy to turn back around and face her.

After realizing that it had missed its intended target, the wasp quickly spun around and made an even louder buzzing noise. Violet had to cover her ears at this point as the loud cacophony was nearly as loud as the muffler of a revving motorcycle.

  3. The wasp tried to shake the woman off, but Violet had already leaped safely to the ground. Still wobbly from the pain, the giant wasp was a big target in the sky. Down on the ground, Violet attempted to throw her blade at the enemy, but it missed by a long shot. Crap. The wasp quickly realized that the woman was unarmed and charged at her once more with its butt spear. Violet quickly took cover in the thick brush surrounding the area where they were fighting. The giant wasp looked around, confused. Where had the woman gone?

Suddenly, Violet appeared on the opposite side of the wasp, her blade back in her hand. She had managed to quickly circle around and lose the wasp. A grin spread across her face. "I'm right here," she said cockily. The wasp quickly turned around, surprised. "That's right. I'm still smarter than you."

  4. The wasp was even more buzzingly angry at the attacks against it. Its eyes glowed red and its wings began to beat at twice speed, giving it a speedier attack advantage over Violet. The woman sensed this and grimaced, knowing the fight was about to get a bit more intense.

As quick as lightening, the wasp charged forwards and pierced through Violet's chest. The attack was too quick for Violet to even bring her arm up to partially block the attack. Her eyes went blank as she felt her heart stop. She fell to the ground, gasping for air. Then the game made her body regenerate. She could breathe once more. Coughing and now pissed, she charged her blade. "Bad. Move," was all she said as she dashed in jagged lines, keeping the enemy guessing for where she would appear next. Zoom! Suddenly she was above the giant wasp, coming down four separate times into its back.

  5. As she tucked and rolled, the wasp turned around, aiming for the same spot in Violet's back. Luckily, Violet heard the buzz of the large wasp and dashed behind a tree right next to her. The giant wasp altered its course to try and stab the woman, but it altered too much and ended up getting its stinger stuck in the bark of the tree that Violet had hid behind. Violet laughed and activated her sword art once more, her blade glowing a fiery orange. She stabbed four times into the rump of the wasp, cutting off its stinger and painfully freeing it from the tree trunk. Violet smiled at first, then she realized that the stinger had de-materialized from the tree and had regenerated back on the end of the wasp. The smile turned back to a frown. She thought she had actually managed to permanently wound it, but then again, that's not how the game worked.

  6. The wasp was staggered by the attack, its flying becoming wobbly. It flew lower to the ground, closer towards its enemy. "That's right, come closer to your deliverer," Violet said, bringing her dagger up for another attack. However, the giant wasp was prepared this time. It dodged around her first attack and stabbed her in the back with its butt stinger. (Yes, I said butt stinger. Deal with it.)

Violet grabbed her back and rolled out of the way of another attack. Then the wasp went in for a third attack. This turned out to be a big mistake as Violet quickly rolled forward and back behind the wasp. She then jumped onto its back and activated her sword art, her blade glowing orange as she stabbed four times deep into the abdomen of the wasp. Ticked off and in pain, the wasp began to fly about randomly, trying to shake its unwanted passenger off. Finally, Violet dropped a few feet to the ground, tucking and rolling to break her fall.

  7. The two ventured off farther into the forest. "I just want to fight one more beast, and then we can head home, okay?" she said to Dahlia. The black leopard nodded as the two walked the path leading back towards the main town on the third floor. After a few minutes of walking, a giant wasp appeared in front of Violet. She was utterly creeped out. The one thing that Violet hated the most was bugs. Especially flying ones. And especially the ones that you didn't think could fly that would suddenly fly at you. Like cockroaches.

If Violet had cat ears like Dahlia's, they would be bent back in a defensive gesture. And her teeth would be bared. Dahlia moved behind Violet so that she wouldn't get in the way of her partner's next attack.

"Hey! You satan spawn!" Violet yelled at the giant wasp, grabbing its attention. "I'm going to send you back to the hell where you came from!" she screamed as she charged forward and underneath the flying beast, leaping up and using a sword art to stab four times rapidly into the underside of the beast.

  8. Violet pulled away and wiped a tear from her eye. She was so happy that Dahlia trusted her this much that she had become overcome by emotion. "Good job, Dahlia," she said as she took out a large meat treat from her inventory. Dahlia's eyes grew wide and she quickly stood up, ready to pounce on the treat. Violet laughed and threw the treat up into the air, watching as Dahlia caught it in her sharp teeth and devoured it. The large cat came trotting back over to her companion once she had finished her snack. She nuzzled Violet, telling her it was time to get up and keep moving. Dahlia had noticed her companion's health was back to full. There was no more point in resting as they would just become sitting ducks as time passed. They were still outside the safe zone after all. Violet got the hint and quickly stood up, dusting herself off.

  9. Dahlia looked up at Violet with her big bright eyes, her teeth bared in an attempt at a smile. Violet looked down and giggled to herself. "I know, Dahlia. I'm happy we found each other as well." She patted the large cat's head once more. "You're a wonderful familiar, and a good friend," she said, a smile spreading across her own lips.

As the words left Violet's mouth and as she hugged the large cat, an achievement popped in front of her on her display. "Achievement earned: Familiar Skill Learned" She quickly brought up hers and Dahlia's stats menu. Underneath Dahlia's name appeared the following: "When with player, this familiar adds +1 ACC to the player's overall accuracy." Violet's jaw dropped in shock. Dahlia had finally felt close enough to Violet for her skill to activate. She looked down at Dahlia, a large smile on her face as she reached down and drew the large cat in for a big head. Dahlia began to purr, the vibrations right next to Violet's cheek.

  10. But the gypsy spoke to her, soothing her and calming her down. She had said, "It's alright, little one. The evil man is gone. I will be your adoptive mother until you are strong enough to fend for yourself." She had wrapped Dahlia in her robes and carried her to her tent, caring for and raising the leopard until she was about a year old. Then one day, the gypsy sensed someone was coming who had the right hard to care for the large cat without being afraid of her. After she approached Violet, she had whispered for Dahlia to venture out to the human as she would be one of the few that the leopard would be able to trust in this world.

Dahlia huffed happily and nuzzled her human's hands. The gypsy had been right, and she was forever grateful that Violet had accepted her as her familiar. She treated the large feline well, always groomed Dahlia and making sure she had enough to eat and drink.

  11. That was why Dahlia reacted so violently and distrustingly against men that she did not know or who approached Violet too quickly for her liking.

Well after Dahlia's mother went down, it had appeared as though Dahlia's life was about to be over. The man flashed his blade in her face, ready to strike. But all of a sudden, the gypsy that had shown herself to Violet had come down and struck the player down, killing them. The gypsy had seen what had happened and knew that the mother was only trying to protect her cubs. The man had attacked an innocent mother that had meant him no harm. Unlike other honorable players, he was hunting endangered animals and new born cubs and their mothers. He was a cruel man -- even crueler than Violet. (Though Violet had more of a soft spot for animals than humans.)

Once the man was dead, the gypsy had approached Dahlia, who had backed herself into the brush, trying to take cover. The small kitten was shaking, afraid of everyone around it.

  12. Dahlia listened closely and rested her head on her companion's lap when she frowned. Dahlia sensed something was off when the woman's expression changed. She kept purring, letting the purrs calm Violet and bring her back to reality. Violet looked down at the large black cat head on her lap and smiled, petting the large feline some more. "Thank you, Dahlia. I suppose your life wasn't always the easiest either, huh?" she mused.

Unbeknownst to Violet, Dahlia had actually been one out of a litter of three that were born to a mother leopard roughly a year ago. Yes, Dahlia was still young and had room to grow. Her mother had actually had the usual leopard spots, as did all her siblings. Dahlia was different, and her mother cared for her the most because of this. At roughly 6 months old, a tall blond man killed her mother and her three siblings. The last thing her mother did was protect Dahlia against the man, baring her teeth and fighting until the end to protect her favorite daughter.

  13. Once the big cat had had her fill of water, Violet wiped the wet part of her hand against her jean shorts and took a swig out of the water canteen. "You know, Dahlia. This life isn't half bad compared to my last one. It's not too different either. Instead of killing dangerous people, I'm killing dangerous animals for money and prizes." She shrugged and took another sip of water. "In both lives I get rewarded for killing. At least in this world, people don't lose their heads when you kill a rogue elf or large boar for money." She smiled to herself. It was quite a peaceful world compared to the real world that she was used to living in. Sure, there were still things that wanted to kill her at every moment, but she could choose whether to face them or run away from them. A frown formed across her lips. In the real world, she usually had to take contracts out of need or threat.

  14. Violet took a few moments to rest, moving to the side so that she was laying with her back against the trunk of the tree. Dahlia lay down beside her, the large cat's head on its paws. Violet reached down and pet her ears, relaxing as the leopard purred. The woman checked the time on her display. It was about noonish. Time for lunch. She took out a piece of raw steak and put it down in front of Dahlia, who began to devour the piece of meat right away. Violet laughed. "You were hungry, too, huh?" she said as she pulled out a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It was made with chunky peanut butter and raspberry jam. Her favorite combination.

The two sat for a little while, both eating their lunches in peace. Content and happy. She pulled out a water canteen partway through her lunch and poured some into her hand, letting Dahlia lick it up. The big cat's barbed tongue was rough against the skin of Violet's palm.

  15. Violet heard a small barking sound coming from Yukiro's pocket. "Uh? Did that sugar glider just bark?" she asked as she slowly leaned in closer, checking inside the pocket to see if she could spot the tiny creature. She saw the creature peek its head at and immediately went, "Awwe! He's so cuuuute!" Her heart melted as soon as she saw the tiny creature.

Dahlia attempted to stand on her hind legs to see the sugar glider, but she wasn't tall enough to be able to peek into the pocket. Violet laughed as she noticed the eagerness of her familiar. "It seems Dahlia wants to say hello as well, if that's alright," she said, looking up at Yukiro. Dahlia purred and swished her tail back and forth, intrigued and curious about the new creature. On the floor where Violet had found her familiar, sugar gliders were not common -- in fact she wasn't even sure if they existed there.

    @Yukiro

  16. Violet's eyes widened as she saw Yukiro suddenly appeared behind the giant bat. With two swings he had already taken it out. Violet gave an impressed whistle and then heard Yukiro say, "Tch, still too weak. That was intended to kill it instantly." Violet began to laugh and walked over to where the man was standing. "Oh, hush now," she said to him as she patted him on the back. "You still took it out in one turn."

As Violet was comforting Yukiro, Dahlia nudged her leg. "Oh?" Violet looked down and saw the black leopard holding up the gem that she needed. "Ah, thank you, Dahlia," Violet said, smiling, as she reached down and took the gem from the large cat's mouth. She gave Dahlia a few pets, and the leopard began to purr loudly, the vibrations spreading through the air around her.

Violet then turned her attention back to Yukiro. "Anyways, I'm sure any woman would appreciate the power you showed today," she teased, laughing.

    @Yukiro

  17. "Wow, thank you for that warning. I always plan on drinking mysterious glowing liquids I find in caves. Close call." Rather than become irate or annoyed at Yukiro's sarcastic response, Violet merely laughed. "Ah, so the prey has an attitude now?" she said, grinning. Then she noticed his hands were glowing as he pulled them out of the water. Strange, she thought to herself. But when she looked above Yukiro's stats above his head, she saw no status affects, so she just shrugged it off as a cosmetic affect.

However, her eyes were once again drawn towards the man as she saw him pull a... was that a smoothie?! - out of his inventory. Her chewing slowed as she gave him an odd, curious look. Before she could begin to question him about his choice of sustenance, he said, "Yumi's gonna be up in a minute if you wanna come say hi." Violet quickly jumped to her feet, her thoughts on the drink forgotten and replaced by curiosity.

As she made her way over to Yukiro, she heard a large roar come from the opposite side of the cave. She turned to look, grabbing her dagger at the same time. Across the room, she saw the gem they had been looking for in Dahlia's jaws, and underneath the large leopard was a... moving blob? As the blob moved and began to unfold, Violet realized that the once-shapeless form was actually a giant bat. "Get out of the way!" she yelled to Dahlia as she rushed forward, prepared for battle. Dahlia followed her companion's directions and quickly leaped away before the beast could attack her.

"Ahh!" she yelled as she stabbed down into the spider's skull, the bleed enhancement on her weapon activating as well. Before the spider could even make a sound, it burst into pixels, leaving a bag of loot behind. Violet panted, catching her breath and dropping down on her butt onto the ground. Dahlia rushed over, worried that her companion was hurt. Still catching her breath, Violet let out a weak laugh and pet her familiar. "It's alright, girl. I'm okay. Just taking a break is all." She let out a heavy sigh and looked at the bag in front of her. Dahlia watched where Violet was looking and brought the bag over to her. Violet smiled and pet the large feline. "Good, Dahlia," she said as the big cat began to purr, resting her head on the woman's shoulder as Violet opened the bag of loot.

Inside, she found a chunk of col, some materials, and hopefully a new set of armor. "Nice," Violet said to herself as she put the items into her inventory.

The spider let out a scream and quickly turned around, its fangs bared. Violet laughed and dodged as the spider attempted to lash out at her. She was already prepared and nimbly jumped out of the way.

Violet took a moment to check on Dahlia. The black leopard was waiting obediently next to the battle, though she still looked as if she wanted to join in. Violet smiled and spoke to her reassuringly. "It's alright, Dahlia. This battle will be over soon. I promise." Dahlia gave a low growl of tentative agreement as she stayed put, still nervous. Violet then turned her attention back to the matter at hand. "And you. You'll be dead soon. I promise you that," she growled, her dagger raised for another attack.

For a few moments, the two circled around each other, Dahlia watching closely, wishing her companion would allow her to leap into battle. But when they had set out earlier today, Violet had been very clear that Dahlia not jump in unless Violet's life was in danger. She hadn't wanted Dahlia to get injured as she cared for the large leopard dearly.

After a few moments of tense silence and stillness, Violet launched herself towards the large spider, striking out and trying to cut one of its fangs from its mouth. But the spider brought up its front legs, blocking the attack. Violet rolled to the side as soon as she realized that she wouldn't be able to break past her enemy's defenses, moving just in time to dodge the spider's next attack. Violet smiled. It seemed she wasn't doomed to get hit every time.

"Gahh!" she yelled as she landed on her left arm, which was still sore from the earlier attacks. The beast went in for another attack, but Violet wasn't prepared to go out without a fight. She rolled out of the way of the attack and underneath the spider's abdomen. She took the chance to stab into its tender underside quickly, her sword art activating with the first blow. Once she had finished her attack, she quickly rolled to the left of the beast and jumped back up and out of the way of its attack of retaliation. Violet laughed and grabbed her side as she did so. She grimaced. It seemed like that last attack had managed to fracture one of her ribs. Hopefully it will heal soon, she thought to herself as she looked back at the large spider. It appeared the large beast had been thrown off by her attack and was now trying to cover its wounds in a protective layer of spider silk.

When both had landed back onto the ground, the large spider took the chance to use its speed on flat ground to attack the woman from behind. It dug its fangs into her back and threw her to the side.

As the fangs entered Violet's back, she yelled out in pain. Crap, she thought to herselfThis thing is actually doing damage to me. She frowned. She was lucky she was a higher level now. Just a week ago, she would have died already from the beast's attacks. She was weaker then. Picking herself up off the ground once more, she thought to herself, I'm stronger now. I can do this.

  23. Violet looked over and watched as Yukiro cupped some water in his hands. "Don't drink that," she warned. "There's probably worm feces in there." She laughed. Then she began searching around the rest of the cave. To the left of the entrance was a pile of large rocks, as if there had been a near cave in at one point. She peaked around the rocks. Nothing. She sighed and looked over at her familiar. On the other side of the cave, Dahlia was nosing through a bit of rocky rubble and nearing a large pile of rubble. Violet went back to searching on her side of the cave after she realized that Dahlia hadn't found anything either.

Sitting on a rock, Violet took out a piece of gum and began to chew it. It was a habit of hers to do so when thinking. While her associates in the real world smoked, she took the healthier option of chewing gum to relieve stress and refocus her mind. She needed all of her lung capacity and health to deal with the targets she faced.

  24. After she had finished checking her wounds, Violet looked up just in time to see the spider leaping towards her. Oh, it can attack from the air as well. Surprising, she thought to herself as she brought up her dagger. She was pushed back and her back bent towards the ground as her blade met the fangs of the large spider, the fangs resting only a few inches from her face. She grunted and struggled, trying to push back the beast. But she was too weak after taking that first hit, and the spider managed to lift her up by her blade and throw her a few feet away and right into another tree. Violet let out a yell as she hit the bark, falling to the ground once more. Behind her, Dahlia paced, nervous and concerned for her companion. Violet picked herself back up and coughed, smiling at her familiar. "It's alright, Dahlia. I've taken worse hits. Especially in the real world..." She turned back and faced the offending party once more.

  25. "I'll show you. But you have to promise to be quiet. He sleeps during the day, so it's midnight for him."

Violet calmed her excitement and peeked into Yukiro's pocket. She gave a small gasp as she saw the little sugar glider, asleep deep in its human's cozy pocket. She whispered, "It's so cute," and then pulled away, continuing on their path towards the cave.

The pair made their way out of town and headed for the dark cave. Upon reaching the entrance, Violet realized that it was darker than anything inside. "Hey, watch your step. You don't know what could be inside here," Violet warned Yukiro as she cautiously walked into the cave. Around them were glowing pools of water with stalactites and stalagmites sticking out of ceiling and floor. "Wow," she gasped. It was absolutely beautiful. There were glowing worms on the ceiling and in the pools of water that provided very dim lighting.
