Sam

Sam stares the large creature down and suddenly it switches modes. His interest was with Raidou now and Sam can't help but grin. It seemed that they all failed to get through Raidou's defenses. Sam begins to focus her attack directly at the largest one there. Her weapon glows brightly with a red essence and Sam knew that now was the time to attack. Sam runs quickly with an upward strike in mind as she swings upward using the weight of her weapon sending a large gash through the air connecting to the warg causing him to burst into nothing. Eyes glance to Raidou and he simply says "Good now the others," and with a nod, she darts to the younger ones with the explosive connections to each leaving nothing but data in the late nights' sky around Sam and Raidou. Sam gets to one knee and sets her weapon to the side of her on the ground trying to catch her breath. Sam's energy was completely drained with so much to show for it. "I hope I passed, that was really something else." Sam looks to the ground now sitting on both knees against the ground looking into the dark trying to regain what she lost or at least enough to get up and move around again.

Sam watched as the Warg in front of her looks to Raidou but then back at her. It seemed to be confused about what was going on and how to process. Sam smirks as her weapon glows that deep red color again and with that, she uppercuts the Warg and in the same movement she uses the weight of her weapon to axe downward toward it, slicing through its hide with ease. It screams out in pain again as her attack connect causing several lacerations across its body now. Sam jumps back and smiles saying "You better figure out what you're doing before your body lies soulless where you stand Big guy." Sam gets herself ready for another attack but can't help to wonder if this quest was supposed to be dangerous or just the act of being accepted into the guild. Looking more at the Warg it started to breathe heavy as its health started to wilt away.

Sam watches as Raidou's robe starts to do something crazy but she had her orders. A small breeze begins as Sam's eyes dart to the large creature and with that she runs into the treeline with the intent to kill that biggest thing there. Her weapon begins to glow deep red within her grasp as she slides to a halt in front of that creature larger than her. In this swift moment, she uses the weight of her two-handed axe and slices upward toward the creature chin. What seemed to be not so hostile was now serious as he roars out in pain. Sam jumps back a bit to avoid any repercussions to her attack and calls out to Raidou "You mind grabbing it's attention so I can do what you ask of me please." The large creature stomps against the ground really angry at Sam now looking for revenge for the sudden outburst. Sam swallows hard as she looks at the beast standing in front of her.

Listen to Raidou speak and then change his demeanor and speak again in a completely different tone she smiles. "I couldn't agree more. If I can't focus on the extreme of a simple task then I shouldn't be here fighting with anyone. If I have learned anything, it's that teamwork and communication is the key. I will kill the leader first after that are the little one's free game?" Sam is impressed at how Raidou presented himself. With that, she takes her weapon out and she sees slight movement just within the tree lines. A large creature and following behind were 3 little ones. Looking to Raidou with a smirk across her face she says "After you," as she waited for Raidou to make the first move. She would follow behind him and give him the respect that was well deserved. Looking through the dark forest she glances to the large creature with piercing eyes and seen a greenish fluid coming from its mouth. Sam stands there waiting for an action to take place.

"Hmm, gathering I am guessing is what is taking up your other time, fair enough. So this person wants us to kill these things. Is there anything special I need to do? What is the plan here Raidou?" Sam was trying to get all the details and not just what was in the quest information. Mainly she wanted to get back to bed but she would do her best to follow orders like the times before this. Sam's mind is always racing but she has gotten better at following orders. Usually, she was the one giving orders but with her being in this guild, she was no longer in charge so she would have to try harder than ever to suppress those thoughts. Getting to the destination that the nav marker brought them to she looks into the dark forest trying to get a location on the things that they needed to fight. Looking to Raidou, still waiting for the answer to the question, she waits for the orders from the guild master to be given before heading into combat. 

Sam hears a little bit of talk around her but mainly all she heard clearly was use AOE. With a smirk, she looks to Griswold saying "Let's do a bit of damage then, shall we." With her weapon in hand, it starts to glow a deep red as she starts to run at the large creatures with the intent to hit all. Swinging her axe with swiftness using the weight with a spin upward and crashing her weapon against the ground as hard as she could. At a second glance, she just knew the first was a miss but the entities of what looked like Bison followed her attack toward the other two and bashed against them both with great speak with horns inserted into their thick hide. Sam smiles and turns to Griswold saying "2 of 3 ain't bad. Let's see what you got Big guy." It was weird saying that because she had good height on herself so working with someone taller than she was, it felt normal to her.

Sam sees everyone around her take their attacks and then some of Firm Anima goes in for blood. Excitement runs through her body as she pulls her weapon out and charges at the boss that Griswold hit. Using the weight of the weapon, Sam runs in next to Griswold with a grand assault in mind. Her weapon glows bright red as she swings violently toward the giant monster. Making contact, she tears swiftly through where her teammate hade hit. Jumping back standing next to Griswold, a large grin paints across her face saying "Let's do this big guy. Where is Gaius? He ran off so quickly I couldn't keep an eye on him." Sam glances around the field full of faces that she didn't recognize and some people that maybe she would want to speak to after this threat was dealt with. Looking around she sees Shiina sitting on one of the huge titan like creature and Eruda slide to her side. Simply nodding her head she focuses back on the thing in front of her.

Sam was everyone gathers to collect and creates everything in the guildhall as the week passed in what seemed like a lifetime in the small time. The morning of, Sam doesn't waste time as she follows Eruda to the beginning fields to join the others. She watches Eruda each something and decides to do the same as she wanted to also be prepared. The mass amount of people that were surrounding the area and she looks to Eruda making sure that she was okay with a large amount of people and then Eruda started to speak. She was surprisingly confident and Sam smiles. Sam started to prepare herself mentally for getting out of this hell hoping that Kayaba wasn't just messing with them. Hoping that they were not just dogs on leashes waiting to be kicked if they didn't obey. Sam stands next to Simmone after partaking in some of the meals and potions and such laying around.

Sam had just fallen asleep when her HUD chimes. "Dam what is it," she says opening the message sent by Raidou. "Oh! Uu...okay I guess sleeping isn't an option right now" Sam says to an empty room as Eruda has yet to return to her shop. Sam yawns, gets out of bed and gathers the new equipment that she had obtained from Kasumi earlier that day. Sam walks out of the shop and into the dark night, stopping by the quest board to pick up the quest that Raidou had requested. Stepping onto the warp gate after reading the intel of the quest she says "Floor 2" as she reappears on floor 2. Following the nav market leading to Gatsby's place, Sam sees Raidou standing there waiting. "Hope you were not waiting long," she says walking past him to have a talk with Gatsby who seemed very worried and on edge. Sam yawns again saying "Yea I take care of them" as she walks out with another yawn. Looking back at Raidou with a nod and a small smile she says "So why do this quest so late in the night. There has to be a reason?" She starting to head to where the green quest marker leads waiting for a response from Raidou.

Sam realized that Pete was getting super irritated. Even though he was just an NPC she felt the need to move quickly and to not add fuel to the fire. Sam sends Eruda a quick message saying "Kasumi isn't feeling well. Your shop is the closest. Can I bring her there to rest for a while?" A chime as the message was sent, glancing back at Kasumi with a frown who was struggling to get off the boat another chime of her HUD activated. Opening the message reading "Yes sure, I won't be back for a while but sent her my regards." Sam nods at this and walks back to the boat and lifts Kasumi on her back not caring at this point if she made a mess on her shoulders. Carefully stepping off the boat while holding Kasumi on her back she starts heading to Eruda's shop. Updating the team Sam says "I am going to take Kasumi somewhere to rest and I will meet you guys in town to get something to eat. I am a regular at the inn in the town of beginnings so we will meet there. My treat!" 

Trying hard not to move too fast Sam arrives at Eruda's shop with Kasumi still on her back and says "You can rest here for now. Eruda said it was fine. Plus I have been staying with her so you can lay in my bed till you get your wits back." Sam set Kasumi down and points to her cot. "I hope you feel better soon. You can lock the door if you feel safer like that." Sam waits by the door for Kasumi to either object or gets comfortable before leaving her alone. "If you want me to stay with you that would be an option too," saying with Kasumi's best interest in mind.

Sam sits next to Kasumi while the boat started to peddle backwards toward shore. Very little time was spent on the sea's and Sam was proud of herself but she was feeling a bit woozy as well. This was her first time being on a boat and because the combat was over, her mind started thinking the worse of the moving water. Putting a hand on Kasumi's back rubbing it slightly as she says "This combat thing will get easier. I do have to say it will get worse before it gets better though. I'm sorry I made you upchuck. Didn't really know what to expect with this though and for that I am sorry." Sam gets to her feet as they reach the docks and everyone's HUD chimes in unison upon the quest completion. She hops off the boat onto solid ground and looks to the group. "Who wants some food. I'll pay for the group and it might help our stomach settle a bit," as she looks to Kasumi with a hand out to help her off the boat.

Sam and Eruda spent the rest of the day talking about Sam's problems. How Sam could possibly avoid conflict with the flaws that are not yet able to be controlled. With everything though, Sam does feel a lot better knowing that she had at least one true friend in this world. Finishing up their food, they pay and walk out toward Eruda's shop. The day has become dusk as the sunsets in the distance. "Will you tell Setsuna I am sorry as well?" Sam says thinking of how badly she acted around her last time. Eruda smiles and says "No, but you can. She is hard to face, yes but you need to show her the true you. Show her that you can handle any situation that you may come across. Show her no fear. I believe in you, Sam. You should try doing the same." With that said Sam smiles with a nod and they both walk into Eruda's shop to get some shut-eye before another day comes as quickly as it left.  

Sam lets go of Eruda saying "I am really sorry that I was such a pain. I promise that I will try my best from here on out. I'm still not sure if I am ready to join Firm Anima yet though," as the innkeeper comes back with their food. "Oh don't you look so much better honey. I'm glad!" she says as she places the plates of eggs and bacon in front of them. "Enjoy you two" saying as she walks away cleaning the area around her. Sam starts to eat as does Eruda. "Can you help me be better Eruda, help me be likable?" Sam asks with her mouth full. Eruda laughs just a bit before saying "Well for starter you can finish the food in your mouth before speaking," as she eats more of her food. Sam just looks at Eruda and swallows. Both of them start laughing as they finish up their food. 

After a long while Sam walks out and sits next to Eruda. Sam seemed more collected than before. Eruda gives her a smile and says "How are you doing Sam?" Sam stays silent for a moment while she gets herself sitting right in her chair. "Are you my friend Eruda. Like truly, deeply my friend," as she glances toward Eruda with a serious face. Eruda half smiles more but speaks the truth saying "Can I be honest with you Sam?" Sam nods and Eruda continues "At first I was not sure because I too was wanting to make friend now matter who they were. I let you stay at my shop with me because I felt bad that you too had no one at the time. I can honestly say now though, that I do think of you as a dear friend of mine and I hope it stays that way. In a way I was lonely too and I felt comfort in someone else staying with me. It feels just a little less lonely." Sams eyes begin to water again and she pulls Eruda into a hug. "Thank you Eruda for everything."

Eruda practicully shoves Sam into the shower area and says "I will be waiting out here for you. Wash up and take all the time you need." Sam half smiles with a small nod. Eruda walks to the inns front desk and Sam starts her clean up but hears every word between the two of them for the walls seemed to be super thin. The inn keeper says "Is your friend okay? She looked...well she looks off her rockers." Sam hears Eruda's voice now "Yea she will be just fine. I will make sure of it. Can I get a couple plates of brunch like food." "Yea of course," the inn keeper says as she walks away getting that prepped. Eruda looks to the shower area and in a small voice saying "Don't worry Sam. Everything will be fine." Sam hears this and begins to cry again but continues cleaning herself up.

Sam makes her way back to Eruda in a slow walk trying to piece together everything that just happened. "I can't force people to like me but I can try to make them not hate me," she says as she puts her weapon away. Raidou wanted everyone to work together which is understandable. Sam began to think of ways that she could make a better impression on the others. After a long while of walking in the silent forest, Eruda appears in front of her talking but Sam seems to be zoned out to much to make out anything she was saying. Finally she hears Eruda yell "SAM" and feels Eruda's hands on both her shoulders. Shaking her head a bit to come back to reality Sam starts to cry again. Eruda frowns a bit and takes her hand as she brings her back to the town. Eruda locates a Inn with a shower area and pays the fees.

Sam sits there with nothing left to hold. Sam falls to her back as she sun shines brightly through the trees now. "What the heck was with the storm. It was there and then just not." Sam lays there in the mud knowing that a shower would be very much needed after she got back. Laying there she starts thinking of every conversation that Eruda and Setsuna had around her. All the yelling because for some reason it didn't yet sink in that they truly were stuck here in this game. Another tear drips down Sams face as she knew that she had to make things right with Setsuna. The last thing that she wanted was people in the guild that she wanted to join, hate her. Sam sits up and wipes her face smearing mud all over it. With a sigh, she gets to her feet and grabs her weapon from the ground.  

Sam gets angrier wanting this to end so she could break down without a fight of another. Sam realized that her Axe was glowing dark red again so she takes advantage of her blow and the Gemini shock. Swinging the weight of her weapon up over her head once more, and forces the axe downward causing it to hit the same spot as last time. The Gemini managed to get a small swing in causing Sam the glow red again as its health breaks down to nothing. Sam pulls her Axe out of the Gemini and catches her in her own arms before it falls. "I will change, I have to if I want real friends to stand by me," Sam says as her emotions start to become tears that drip down her face. At this point, the entire storm has stopped. Sam sits down while holding herself in her arms across her lap now. "I know and accept everything you have told me, and I guess I just needed someone to remind me why I was trying so hard. For that I thank you." Sams tears drip against her smile as she looking into the Gemini's eyes, reflecting her own. "That's all I ever wanted," both Sam and the Gemini say in unison as it bursts into nothing, but instead of the light fading Sam feels herself absorb the Gemini like a huge weight was lifted off her shoulder.

Pulling her weapon the minute the sword fish come onto the boat, she gets ready. Sam feels the boat rocking around from the large fish flailing about. At first Sam struggles to keep her footing but the moment Shiina run behind Griswold and says "GET IT GOOD SAM," she grins. Her axe begins to glow deep red as she was intending to use a new sword art to follow up. Sam uses the momentum and weight of the Axe to swing upward, above her head and in the same movement she forces it downward aiming for the head. Upon the large amount of force, the head of the large sword fish explodes causing the brains and scales to splash everyone on the boat. The boat shakes from the sheer impact but then levels out. Sam retracts her Axe back onto her back and stares down at the headless fish. Slowly looking to Pete as his eyes were wide staring at Sam. "Will that be all Pete," Sam says with the only words that she could force out.

Sam at this point was royally pissed off. "Yes I have imperfections," Sam says as she starts walking toward the shadow figure with her sword dragging across the mud creating a small crater behind her. "Yes, what you have told me...Everything you have told me is, in fact, true," as she gets closer and her sword begins to glow dark red. "As it may be that you are a part of me, by your looks and what you think you know" she grabs the Gemini's face with her free hand and pushes with all her might, causing the shadow of herself to its back now. The shadow tries to crab walk backwards away from Sam but slips in the mud and falls to its back. "But I will not allow you to rub everything in my face with everything that I have been trying so hard to fix," Sam yells this last sentence raising her Axe above her head now slicing downward at it with all her strength as it swings upward at Sam with its axe causing Sam to glow red dealing damage to it, as Sam makes contact just to the side of its heart as she did not want to kill it. The Gemini takes the axe out of its flesh not wanting to give up just yet. Sam prepares for another attack.

Sam is on her hands and knees not being able to move knowing that something was coming but wasn't able to do a dam thing. The shadow puts a hand against Sam's head and violently pushes Sam backward to her back. Sam is now laying on her back on the wet ground. In her head, she keeps saying "Move Sam, move, roll, move...DO SOMETHING." A large grin forms over the creature's face as Sam's fingers begin to slightly move. The shadow raised its weapon above its head and downward strikes at Sam and in the same moment, Sam yells inside her head "MOVE" as she rolls to the side and covers her face causing the sword to clash with the ground right next to her. Sam's chest was pounding from how close it came to hitting her. Sam tries to catch her breath as she slowly gets to her feet, picking up her weapon from the ground and faces the shadow with a glare.

Sam could stop thinking about what this stupid think told her. Was she really to person when it came to wanting something. Was she to desperate to make friends only to scare them off because she got too nosy? She only wanted to know them better. Sam couldn't help that way she was, or so she thought. Sam thought her friends were okay with how she was but the truth was, they really were not so they saw a chance to ditch her the moment they got here. Sam shifts her weapon in her hands getting ready to attack. Sam sees her sword glow and decides it was time to attack. Sam uses the weight of her weapon to uppercut two vertical gashes flying through the air toward the creature's head. The shadow figure holds its head shaking it before looking in Sam's direction ready to retaliate. 

The shadow figure stands there with its head slightly tilted to the right and stares at Sam for a moment before suddenly appearing right in the back of Sam slicing up her spine causing Sam to fall to her hands and knees. Sam can't find the strength to move at all. The shadow walks around Sam to stand in front of her and just starts laughing. Meanwhile, Sam's eyes begin to fill with tears as they blend with the rain. Her hair drags down to either side on her face touching the muddy ground.

The laughing continues but gradually gets louder. The shadow begins to glow red and slowly gets to its feet. The long black hair covering her face, stuck in place from the rain that was pouring down harder than before. Seeing this shadow run straight for Sam, She waited until it gets a bit closer and tries to move but gets hit barely doing any damage. "You will have to do a lot better than that if you want my blood on the pavement." Sam frowns a bit thinking of everything that the shadow mocked out at her. Maybe all of it was true. Maybe Sam had a lot of issues that needed to be fixed. She would go to Eruda after this and try to figure out how to handle what she burdened.
