Nari watched as NIGHT once again made her connection with the sea serpent, cutting away at its health once more. She watched as the stunned effect wore off, and the creature began screwing – either in response to the damage, or at finally being free from its hold. Either way, she took it as a sign that they were besting it. With a single step forwards, she found herself once more in striking range of the creature. Letting her feet slide across the ground, she kept her eyes on it, bringing her spear up to thrust forwards, knowing that she was slowly losing the attention of their target. ‘N

“NIGHT! It worked! Did you see…why are you laying on the ground?” Her excitement was curtailed by the sight of her companion face first in the dirt. Her side step and reaction had been nearly perfect as the creature lashed out at her – her health bar depleting slightly, but the counter and her thorns activating to bite back at the creature. “Are you okay?” Her concern was short lived though, as the creature reared back and slammed down into the ground again, missing Nari by a hair’s breadth. Stepping backwards, she decided that it was time to go on the offensive again. Giving herself some

NIGHT rushed in, swinging into the serpent and landing yet another strike, causing the health to deteriorate further. Nari held her ground, watching as the serpent rose up, likely readying itself to strike against the shield she held before her…and then slammed into the ground next to her, missing entirely. She blinked, looking at the spot on the ground, then turning her gaze to NIGHT. “Did you…blind it or something?” The words were out before she even realised she had spoken, and in her confusion she felt the shield slip out of place slightly. Jumping back into position, she pulled the s

Nari watched as NIGHT faltered on another attack, and she began to wonder if there was something odd about this creature. She leapt backwards slightly as it lashed out at her again, clearly agitated at her the most. ‘Perfect. Let’s give this skill a try, then. Maybe it’ll prove more successful than I’ve been thus far.’ She hoisted her shield, bringing her spear in line with the top edge, but letting her feet sink into the ground, holding her place and keeping an eye out for the next strike towards her. She knew that even if NIGHT managed to land an attack at this point, she’d drawn the ma

Between her own strike, and NIGHT’s follow up strike, the creature was looking slightly less impressive. Perhaps she had considered it too worthy of a foe, perhaps it wouldn’t give such a challenge…and then it started moving again, and Nari’s focus was back on the conflict before her. She heard the call of NIGHT, nodding in response before realising the girl likely couldn’t see her – her own focus hopefully on the creature. But she was unable to get out a verbal response before she needed to start moving again, dodging to her left, then right in an attempt to stay out of the creature’s re

Her strike missed. Even with NIGHT’s boosts, her first hit had…well, not hit. Nari gritted her teeth as the serpent lashed out in retaliation, watching her own health bar dip, then regenerate slightly. It wasn’t what she had wanted to see happen, but she was glad that NIGHT hadn’t taken any damage. She hadn’t dealt any, either, and although that would normally make Nari feel better, this time it concerned her. Setting her feet, she pulled her shield up in front of her again, balancing the spear along the top left edge before eyeing the creature – looking for the sign of weakness that all

The words were exactly what Nari needed to hear, and as soon as they were out of NIGHT’s mouth, she had begun to rush across the sand towards the creature, bringing her shield up before her as she went. She knew that this was likely taking a risk – but, what was life without some small risks? As she came closer to the creature, she slowed her forward rush, willing to take caution over stupidity. Pausing only long enough to steady herself, she brought her spear in line along the top of her shield, listening for the sound of NIGHT behind her before making her move against the giant sea serp

“A specific place, nearby you say? Why are we standing around?” She leapt to her feet, picking up her spear and making her way towards NIGHT with a large grin. She watched for a moment as the crabs exploded, before making her way past NIGHT – stopping only to have made sure that the girl was okay. She made it about a half dozen steps before she realised she had no idea where she was going. “Uhm…this way, right?” Turning she’ll cast a smile shyly at NIGHT as she pointed in the direction she was heading. Her spear leaned against her shoulder, she eyed up another creature she had spotted in

“Well, I don’t think I need to be afraid of using them, so long as you’re around.” She gave NIGHT a wink as she slumped against her spear, taking a moment to catch her breath, and to allow her muscles to relax a bit. It had been some time since she’d engaged in this much fighting all at once, and she was wondering if she’d been getting lazy as of late. ‘May need to change that, now…no time like the present, right?’ “Another quick break?” She didn’t even wait for a response before collapsing to the ground, letting her spear fall beside her. Closing her eyes, she waited for the other to joi

Her eyes seemed to glaze over slightly in thought as Morningstar gave his answer. It wasn’t what Nari had been expecting, and she had to admit that the honesty behind it was unquestionable. He was on a search for vengeance, then. “I’m in.” She rose from her chair, her attention returning to the world as she made her way towards the front of the bar, stopping at the door to wait for the other two. She knew that he would truly go alone if she did back out, that much was clear in his expression and words. She wouldn’t allow that, not so long as she was still around to provide protection.

She stepped out of the shop, her list completely procured. She had thought that her time being sent on errands would come to an end now, considering the recent developments – but it would appear that her roommate cared little about that, continuing to request assistance with her shopping needs. ‘I can’t really complain that much, considering…’ Lost in her thoughts, she bumped into the other without noticing their presence at first – Nari’s shoulder bouncing off the blonde and causing her to stumble and spin slightly as she caught herself. She gasped in surprise, before the onslaught of ap

She gave the girl a smile, pleased that the newcomer had taken to the spear. She had made it some time ago, but was happy to see that someone was willing to wield it – it wasn’t her most prideful piece, but sturdy and capable nonetheless. And gathering dust in a display was not something she wished to see for any weapon, let alone one she had made herself. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Reyna. I’m Nari-Lanreth – Nari, for short. If you ever need any more weapons, or armour, feel free to drop by!” She smiled again at the girl, before adding to her typical phrase. “Or if you ever need someon -

Nari considered the other woman’s words as she followed along behind on the path to the keep. It was fair to argue that the tank should lead, that they needed to call upon the others in a group in order to persuade advance, but Nari disagreed with the idea that they were the blade. Walking up beside Yuki, she spoke her piece. “You’re right, about the need for a tank to lead. To be at the forefront. But I do not agree that we are meant to be the blade, for the blade is the one who deals the death blow – the one that strikes out and finishes the fight. That is not the role of the tank, inst -
Her first strike had been more than successful, and she felt herself flush a little at the thought that NIGHT’s theory had been proven right, almost immediately. She gave a look at the woman, before setting herself back up to strike. She knew there wasn’t much point in doing anything offensive, but she also knew that she needed to pull her weight in the fight – not just stand by and let the other handle everything. Determined to do something of use, she set her shield and spear, considering her options. She knew she wouldn’t be able to stun them again – her first strike had been too effec

“NIGHT…I’ve taken consumables before. But yours tastes good.” She gave the girl a nudge with her head before pulling herself up. Stretching slightly, she’ll offer a hand towards NIGHT, as if offering to pull the girl to her feet. “Sure, should we…maybe find something a little bit easier though?” Looking around the beach, she’ll spot a couple of creatures at the edge of the water, nodding at them to get NIGHT’s attention. Once she was sure the girl had noticed, she’ll make her way across the beach towards the trio, pulling her shield up as she went. ‘Let’s do this, then.’ She glanced

Nari closed her eyes as she felt the hands running through her hair, the sensation bringing shivers to her. The smile, barely visible, bespoke of the comfort the touch had brought on. The comfort was so overpowering, that she at first didn’t realise that NIGHT was actually answering her question. “Skyscrapers…mmm…I’m happy where I come from…it’s the perfect balance. A smaller city, but an escape to nature…” Her eyes flashed open as the hands left her hair, leaving her somewhat disappointed. The euphoria still had a hold of her, and without thinking she continued her thoughts aloud. “You s

Pulling her spear back into her should, she gave a smile towards NIGHT. “See? Improvements.” Her smile only broadened as she looked back out over the beach. In the distance she could see more of the crab creatures roaming about, and what looked like a few…were those humanoids? She peered for a few moments, but the distance was too great to determine if they were players or not. Shrugging outwardly to herself, she turned her attention back to NIGHT. “Should we…relax a bit? I didn’t bring any swimwear, but laying on the beach for a while can be nice and relaxing too.” Without hes

“NIGHT!” Nari called out as she saw the girl take a swipe. With two of the creature’s destroyed, and one now immune to the affects of her stunning capabilities, she turned her focus to the creature that had evaded her attacks. NIGHT had managed to take a good portion of its health down, but Nari wasn’t going to take chances with it. She knew that so long as they were still standing, they could be dangerous – and she didn’t like the idea of danger being present towards NIGHT. Growling slightly, she stepped in between the crab and NIGHT, trying to use her physical presence as a deterrent as

‘Did…she just offer to feed me? I’m keeping this one.’ Her response was hindered by the crabs attacking her, the claws slamming into her and causing her health bar to drop a slight amount – not enough to worry her in truth, but enough that she paused for a moment to consider what she had just gotten herself into. “Uhm…NIGHT! I think I…made a mistake!” She called out in between her dance, dodging a few more failed strikes her way. She slid off to the right side, angling up against the crabs again, deciding that she’d try her luck with another multi-strike attack. She wasn’t expecting the

“Together.” Nari liked the sound of that. She smiled in kind, returning the glance towards the other as she suddenly clued into the fact that they had come here with the intent of grinding out gear. She blinked once, realising she didn’t even have her spear out yet. “Oops…” Pulling up her menu, she drew forth her weapon, grabbing it as it materialised in her hand. She gave a quick scour of the area, spotting a collection of crab-like creatures in the vicinity, wandering around carelessly. Not ready to be outdone – at least, not yet – she crossed the beach towards them, bringing her spear

“Well, I don’t have a ton of spears in stock right now – but I do have this one.” Her hand will wave over one of the few weapons on display behind the counter. One of which was a spear that carried an ice blue tip, hoisted on a red-steel shaft. “It’s one of my earlier designs, but it’s sturdy and reliable. If you’re interested, I could give it to you for 50 col, or I can create something more specific for you.” She gave the customer a smile, folding her hands in front of her as she waited for a response. @Reyna -
[F27 – PP] A Whisper in the Night
Nari-Lanreth replied to Nari-Lanreth's topic in Intermediate Floors
‘Well, that didn’t go well.’ The only thought to pass through her head as she took up position beside Astreya, eyeing the final individual still standing. Her first attempt at a strike had been, disappointing. She was determined not to be left behind in this fight though, and as she glanced between Astreya and the lone survivor, she decided that she would do her part. Relying on the reach of the spear, she locked her shield against her body. A deep breath in, then out and she took her chance – letting the spear fling forward in the hopes of making contact with the assassin. It was a weake -

“I’m glad I’m stuck in here with people like you, though.” She had meant to whisper the words, but in the quiet garden they came out louder than she had expected, and although she was sure that Astreya had heard the words, she continued on, eventually mentioning the need for more bathrooms, and that Astreya herself was sleeping on a cot. “If you need a place to stay, I have room to make another bedroom or two…you could come stay there for a while, until you have your own place?” She pawed at the dirt even as she made her offer, her eyes roaming the field, making sure no creatures had wand -

“It should be…” Her whisper cut off as a sudden swirling of sand appeared before her, followed quickly by the ground exploding upwards, the creature leaping out. Nari watched with calm eyes as the creature spun on the ground, the health bars jumping to life above it as Terra Firma made its entrance. “…here. Okay, let’s do this.” Without turning to the others, she let her spear lower, calling out over her shoulder. “Alright. Let’s finish this thing as quickly as we can – but be careful, make sure not to draw too much of its attention, that’s for Astreya and I. If you find it focusing on yo -
“Are…you saying you don’t want to show me off?” Nari said with a toss of her hair, the indignation in her tone and actions more for show, than any actual insult taken. “And here I thought I was the show piece!” She listened to the explanation of the types of players – far more simple than she would’ve defined, but nothing she could argue about. It left her wondering what exactly the frontliners would be like – she’d met a few, if only briefly in some cases. And then there were those who were aspiring to reach the frontlines, like herself. She thought to her own intentions – did she aspire
