[F27 | R7 Blacksmith] The Winter Fox Smithery {Closed}
Nari-Lanreth replied to Nari-Lanreth's topic in Merchants and Shops
The smell of the forge consumed Nari’s thoughts as she entered. Recently there had been a lot on her mind – her strive towards the front lines taking up much of her time. But here… here she could relax, take a break from the constant push. Here she could think about nothing at all, if she so chose. Yuki remained curled around her neck today, the little fox seemingly realising that Nari needed the close comfort. A lot had happened… between seeing the Gardener again, and NIGHT… Pushing the thoughts aside for the moment, she collected her materials and tools, beginning the process of perfec -
Nari blinked for a moment, trying to figure out if the girl was toying with her now. The spoon seemed to hover in front of her face, beckoning to her. ‘What the hell.’ Lunging carefully forward she grabbed on to the spoon with her teeth, tipping her head back slightly to devour the food that had been on it. As she did so, she turned her head slightly to the right, winking at NIGHT with a devilish look on her face. ‘Don’t push it too far…’ On her shoulder Yuki have a small chitter of displeasure at the jostling, but Nari ignored it, keeping her teeth clamped down on the spoon. She tri

Nari had definitely hit a cord there. She was sure of it. And NIGHT seemed somewhat annoyed at the entire situation – which, Nari felt bad about. But…it was too late. Sighing to herself in her mind, she held up a fry towards the girl – hoping it would make the start of a peace offering. “I’m sorry. Sometimes I do things without thinking…Well, usually I do things without thinking. I think. Just…not always before. I’m sorry.” Nari bounced the fry in her fingers unconsciously, before realising what she was doing. Pulling it back and devouring it, she pushed her plate across the table a littl

Nari felt a moment of resistance in her as she wondered if she’d gone too far – should she apologise? Should she play it off? But…something in NIGHT’s posture, her eyes, even her face made Nari question. Deciding to give in to it, she shrugged, tossing the words out lightly. “I couldn’t resist something so beautiful. And…well, it was to lighten the mood. Oh and I licked that spoon.” Nari grinned at her companion, carefully picking up a fry and slowly biting down on it. She didn’t often get in this mood, but when she had… Shaking her head, she spoke the next words before she even knew

[F11 - OP] Christmas Chaos (aka Come Eat All Of Koga's Food)
Nari-Lanreth replied to Koga's topic in Intermediate Floors
Nari had barely been following Astreya’s explanation of the game – which seemed to her as much a game of chance as it was of mathematical calculations – when suddenly the girl was distracted by Koga flying across the room. A sudden cold feeling around her feet drew Nari’s eyes downwards, and she realised that she was now standing in a low pile of water. Water, which had begun to flow over the entire floor of the room. “Uhm…Ir-Astreya…the floor…I think the house is flooding…” The words were calm, more statement of fact than anything else. But as she stared down, she wondered how that had h -

Nari felt her gaze flick between Xena and the Gardener. She’d never heard the title the girl used, but somehow it seemed…important? As if it had meaning, perhaps a story behind it. It was something for another time, she assumed. Something about what the Gardener had said had caught her attention though, the words rebounding in her mind as she tried to figure them out. ‘We honest few…’ Suddenly Nari’s eyes squinted as she stared at the Gardener. It was there, she saw it. It made sense – the outcast, the one who wanders…everything suddenly clicked into place. She wasn’t sure quite what to m -
Nari felt her face flush at the words. Golden. NIGHT had called her golden. But the girl’s hesitation had been real. Nari felt a pang in her heart – she understood more than this girl could know. It wasn’t what she had wanted to hear, but she’d…well, she knew too well. “You don’t need to give me an answer now. It’s…a lot, and forward. And…sudden. I get that. I just…well, think on it, maybe? If in time…Well, I’ll be here. As long as I’m here.” This was much harder than Nari had expected. She knew that the girl was doing the right thing – running into something wasn’t safe, it wasn’t

A soft ring of laughter escaped Nari’s lips – even to her, it was obvious how uncomfortable the girl had become. Nari had to admit – she was somewhat enjoying this moment. Maybe not the expressions that had come before it, the emotional dump that had escaped. But this, right here…this she enjoyed. “I just mean – well. A date. To get to know you more, and…well, maybe more, in time.” She bit her bottom lip, before adding. “I understand and respect if the answer is no but…I hope…well, I hope that maybe in time…” Nari let the question hang in the air. It was all out there now, and she s

Nari nodded towards Astrelin as the girl greeted her. She felt herself slink slightly out from behind Astreya, her voice soft as she replied to the girl’s greeting. “It’s nice to meet you too, Astralin. I…wish I could say that Astreya has mentioned you…but…well…she hasn’t. Yet. I’m sure you’re awesome though!” Nari smiled shyly as she finished the words. It had been a brilliant introduction – one of her best, completely. Sighing mentally, she waited for the others to finish talking before slinking away towards a spot a little ways off – just enough that she wasn’t directly in the circle o

Nari followed along behind Tim as he led her deeper into what she was beginning to believe was going to be the very centre of the mountain itself – or pretty damned close to it. The clomping of the hooves had really grated down on her over the last few minutes, to the point where she could feel herself grinding her teeth in annoyance. She knew that there was nothing to be done about it – she couldn’t very well offer to cover Tim’s feet to silence them, that would be rude. Mentally beating her head against a wall, she had no choice but to just suffer through it – hoping it would end the moment

Nari heard the words – she’d heard them many times before. Grieve. She’d grieved enough. It hadn’t helped. It never would. But she couldn’t fault NIGHT for trying. Forcing the smile wider on her face, she nodded, pretending to agree with the girl’s words. ‘Some wounds…’ “I…in time, I may get over…well, not over it. But through it. For now…I never spend a night alone, because she’s there. As the evening falls, Eve joins my thoughts.” The smile faltered for a moment before being forced back into place. “If I’m being honest, I think I fear the day when she doesn’t haunt my dreams. That would

Nari’s smile faltered for the briefest of moments – her hand reached out and grabbed onto NIGHT’s, the warmth of it somehow comforting. ‘Why am I crying…? Can I…trust…’ Nari remained silent for a few moments, taking into consideration NIGHT’s words, her hand unconsciously running her thumb up and down the palm of NIGHT’s hand, her attention clearly not on the world around her. As her thoughts drifted to the past, Nari felt the words slowly slip out, gaining traction as they escaped. “Six years ago I…met someone…a girl, in the woods. I had gone along a path to escape people…and I hadn

Nari heard the words, but somehow her head refused to turn. She knew that she should look at the girl, but…she couldn’t. The tears that had been welling began to flow, silently down her face. As she spoke up, she was thankful that her voice was level – for her emotions were anything but. “The sword and shield are simply tools – a means to an end, one that can be discarded and replaced when worn away. Their purpose is not to remain once the fighting has ended, but instead to be placed aside – smelted down and destroyed lest violence continue beyond what is necessary.” That face again – wou

Nari was lost in thought for a good few minutes, the memories coming flooding back to her as she stared out the window into the darkness. It had been so similar to this night’s sky… A single tear had drifted down her right cheek, and she was glad that it was on the side that NIGHT couldn’t see from her angle. Swiping a hand up to push back some hair, she wiped away the tear before smiling at the other woman. ‘Was there something driving me into battle?’ “Well…yes, I guess. The desire to escape, although I guess that’s not a great excuse…” Nari stared at the table for a moment as she

Tim led her to the wall of the mountain, coming to an abrupt stop an arm’s reach away from it. He suddenly turned to Nari, an extremely serious look on his face. Her eyes had already shifted all around by the time the Satyr started talking, looking for any sign of threats in the vicinity – and finding nothing. “We’re going into the forge directly, as pure Hephaestus’ desire. I must warn you…he is very concerned about his appearance. Do not gawk, stare, wide-mouth, gaze or otherwise draw attention to his appearance. No matter how...inspiring it may be.” Nari was not prepared for the Satyr’

“Strength comes not from a number on a screen, not from a piece of equipment dropped by a random enemy. It comes from those around you, that teach you the meanings of your own weakness. Find the holes in your armor and work to fill them in.” Nari’s face twitched slightly at the words, recognising the truth in them. She felt herself glance towards Astreya, something clearly on her mind – but when she spoke, it was entirely without conviction to whatever was on her mind, but instead to relay an extension of what the Gardener had already stated. “For it is not in yourself that you find -
Nari settled herself across from the other girl, glancing briefly at the menu in a show of reviewing it before placing her order from memory. “Steak burger, Lamlou sauce on the side, with a serving of the fries – erm…like last week…” Her words faltered as she realized what she had just said, the dead give away at being here previously. She hoped it wasn’t taken negatively… “Don’t worry about the cost – I’m doing alright, even though the business hasn’t really picked up yet. The estate hit the col a bit hard, but you’re right once you hit a point –“ Wait, what did she just say? Did sh

The trek continued on in silence for another ten minutes or so, before the Satyr suddenly turned to the left, taking a path that Nari would’ve missed entirely if she hadn’t been guided through the area. Hastening after him, she realised something – she had no idea what this creatures name was, or if he even had a name. The shock of it brought a tinge of red to her ears, and she hurried along to catch him. “Uhm… I know we’re not really friends or anything… but… I just realised I don’t even know your name. And that just seems rude, for me not to ask.” The Satyr stumbled as he turned to look

As they came to the base of the mountain, Nari couldn’t help but speak up. She knew it was unlikely that the Satyr would actually answer her question, but she was curious all the same. Speeding up her walk enough to bring her beside the Satyr, Nari waved a hand towards the Sentinels, trying to keep her tone casual as she asked her question. “So, do they guard the area from monsters?” The Satyr seemed to side eye her for a moment, as if wondering if he had to answer or even acknowledge that she had spoken. When he finally did give a reply, it was short and full of discontent – and clearly

Nari came to a conclusion – she didn’t like the guide. Not because he was clearly infatuated with these gods, or because he seemed to dislike Nari and the entire idea of having to lead her to this meeting. No, it was because he had made it very clear – she was someone unworthy of being here, someone who never should have received the invitation to begin with. For a few minutes, Nari considered testing what would happen if she attacked the Satyr – but eventually abandoned the idea. It was likely that she would find herself facing a mid-level creature, or worse. Plus – she wanted to see wha

Nari’s day had begun worse than any other so far – she’d awoken to the sounds something scampering along outside her window – but upon investigation had found nothing of consequence. That had been two hours ago – a good five hours before she would normally break away from her slumber. Her mood had been set poorly – even Yuki hadn’t managed to lighten it, and the fox had smartly curled up away from the agitated woman. Deciding she may as well get started on the day early, Nari had made her way to the forge – spending a good twenty minutes cursing everything as she went about and adjusted t -
Nari blinked once, then twice, then realised she needed to answer NIGHT’S enquiry. Her mouth opened, and a slight squeak escaped from her lips. ‘This is going just great. Perfect. Absolutely amazing.’ “Uhm…that would be… great. I could always use more people – I mean know more people. Cause it’ll help. With getting to the front. The frontline! I want to get to the front lines.” Turning away in embarrassment, she noticed they had arrived at the little shop. There wasn’t much to it – the sign above the grey brick shop front had an imagine of a bowl of what Nari assumed was supposed to be no

Nari felt a shy smile appear on her face at NIGHT’s words. She glanced at the girl beside her – about to say something in return to show her appreciation of the girl’s understanding of the situation, when the face appeared once more. It was just a brief flash, but Nari knew she had seen it before her – covering NIGHT’s own face for that split second before returning to normal. Nari’s mouth open, she felt herself stumble, the shock clearly written on her face. She managed to catch herself before she collapsed to the ground, but she couldn’t drive away that beating heart, the feeling of te
