  1. Nari’s smile faltered for the briefest of moments – her hand reached out and grabbed onto NIGHT’s, the warmth of it somehow comforting. ‘Why am I crying…? Can I…trust…’ Nari remained silent for a few moments, taking into consideration NIGHT’s words, her hand unconsciously running her thumb up and down the palm of NIGHT’s hand, her attention clearly not on the world around her. As her thoughts drifted to the past, Nari felt the words slowly slip out, gaining traction as they escaped. “Six years ago I…met someone…a girl, in the woods. I had gone along a path to escape people…and I hadn
  2. Nari heard the words, but somehow her head refused to turn. She knew that she should look at the girl, but…she couldn’t. The tears that had been welling began to flow, silently down her face. As she spoke up, she was thankful that her voice was level – for her emotions were anything but. “The sword and shield are simply tools – a means to an end, one that can be discarded and replaced when worn away. Their purpose is not to remain once the fighting has ended, but instead to be placed aside – smelted down and destroyed lest violence continue beyond what is necessary.” That face again – wou
  3. Nari was lost in thought for a good few minutes, the memories coming flooding back to her as she stared out the window into the darkness. It had been so similar to this night’s sky… A single tear had drifted down her right cheek, and she was glad that it was on the side that NIGHT couldn’t see from her angle. Swiping a hand up to push back some hair, she wiped away the tear before smiling at the other woman. ‘Was there something driving me into battle?’ “Well…yes, I guess. The desire to escape, although I guess that’s not a great excuse…” Nari stared at the table for a moment as she
  4. Tim led her to the wall of the mountain, coming to an abrupt stop an arm’s reach away from it. He suddenly turned to Nari, an extremely serious look on his face. Her eyes had already shifted all around by the time the Satyr started talking, looking for any sign of threats in the vicinity – and finding nothing. “We’re going into the forge directly, as pure Hephaestus’ desire. I must warn you…he is very concerned about his appearance. Do not gawk, stare, wide-mouth, gaze or otherwise draw attention to his appearance. No matter how...inspiring it may be.” Nari was not prepared for the Satyr’
  5. “Strength comes not from a number on a screen, not from a piece of equipment dropped by a random enemy. It comes from those around you, that teach you the meanings of your own weakness. Find the holes in your armor and work to fill them in.” Nari’s face twitched slightly at the words, recognising the truth in them. She felt herself glance towards Astreya, something clearly on her mind – but when she spoke, it was entirely without conviction to whatever was on her mind, but instead to relay an extension of what the Gardener had already stated. “For it is not in yourself that you find
  6. Nari settled herself across from the other girl, glancing briefly at the menu in a show of reviewing it before placing her order from memory. “Steak burger, Lamlou sauce on the side, with a serving of the fries – erm…like last week…” Her words faltered as she realized what she had just said, the dead give away at being here previously. She hoped it wasn’t taken negatively… “Don’t worry about the cost – I’m doing alright, even though the business hasn’t really picked up yet. The estate hit the col a bit hard, but you’re right once you hit a point –“ Wait, what did she just say? Did sh
  7. The trek continued on in silence for another ten minutes or so, before the Satyr suddenly turned to the left, taking a path that Nari would’ve missed entirely if she hadn’t been guided through the area. Hastening after him, she realised something – she had no idea what this creatures name was, or if he even had a name. The shock of it brought a tinge of red to her ears, and she hurried along to catch him. “Uhm… I know we’re not really friends or anything… but… I just realised I don’t even know your name. And that just seems rude, for me not to ask.” The Satyr stumbled as he turned to look
  8. As they came to the base of the mountain, Nari couldn’t help but speak up. She knew it was unlikely that the Satyr would actually answer her question, but she was curious all the same. Speeding up her walk enough to bring her beside the Satyr, Nari waved a hand towards the Sentinels, trying to keep her tone casual as she asked her question. “So, do they guard the area from monsters?” The Satyr seemed to side eye her for a moment, as if wondering if he had to answer or even acknowledge that she had spoken. When he finally did give a reply, it was short and full of discontent – and clearly
  9. Nari came to a conclusion – she didn’t like the guide. Not because he was clearly infatuated with these gods, or because he seemed to dislike Nari and the entire idea of having to lead her to this meeting. No, it was because he had made it very clear – she was someone unworthy of being here, someone who never should have received the invitation to begin with. For a few minutes, Nari considered testing what would happen if she attacked the Satyr – but eventually abandoned the idea. It was likely that she would find herself facing a mid-level creature, or worse. Plus – she wanted to see wha

  11. Nari’s day had begun worse than any other so far – she’d awoken to the sounds something scampering along outside her window – but upon investigation had found nothing of consequence. That had been two hours ago – a good five hours before she would normally break away from her slumber. Her mood had been set poorly – even Yuki hadn’t managed to lighten it, and the fox had smartly curled up away from the agitated woman. Deciding she may as well get started on the day early, Nari had made her way to the forge – spending a good twenty minutes cursing everything as she went about and adjusted t
  12. Nari blinked once, then twice, then realised she needed to answer NIGHT’S enquiry. Her mouth opened, and a slight squeak escaped from her lips. ‘This is going just great. Perfect. Absolutely amazing.’ “Uhm…that would be… great. I could always use more people – I mean know more people. Cause it’ll help. With getting to the front. The frontline! I want to get to the front lines.” Turning away in embarrassment, she noticed they had arrived at the little shop. There wasn’t much to it – the sign above the grey brick shop front had an imagine of a bowl of what Nari assumed was supposed to be no
  13. Nari felt a shy smile appear on her face at NIGHT’s words. She glanced at the girl beside her – about to say something in return to show her appreciation of the girl’s understanding of the situation, when the face appeared once more. It was just a brief flash, but Nari knew she had seen it before her – covering NIGHT’s own face for that split second before returning to normal. Nari’s mouth open, she felt herself stumble, the shock clearly written on her face. She managed to catch herself before she collapsed to the ground, but she couldn’t drive away that beating heart, the feeling of te
  14. Nari’s search as they made their way along the pathway had so far provided her with nothing of worth. Between the Satyr’s incessant speed, and her inability to drive the sound of the clopping hooves out of her mind, she wasn’t able to properly look for the materials she so desperately wanted for her smithing. Sighing, she gave up on the search entirely after only a few moments, turning her attention instead to her guide – figuring she might as well at least try and collect some information from him while she followed along. “The invite didn’t really…well, specify who it was I was supposed
  15. “I can walk, you know.” Nari spun at the words, her mouth still covered by her right hand, but her left snapping back against her chest as her eyes went wide. From behind her hand a muffled sound, as she spoke aloud. “Oh my gods – I’m…I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean – I just…I’m sorry!” She paused, taking in a deep breath, before pulling her hand away from her face and pointing down the roadway they had been going – well, that Nari had been dragging them down. “It’s just down here a little ways, about a block from-“ Nari stopped speaking, suddenly fidgeting with the edge of her dress. Sh
  16. Nari smiled slightly at NIGHT – trying hard to hide her embarrassment. NIGHT had shown up casually dressed, and suddenly Nari felt slightly overdressed. She wondered if she had overthought this whole thing – maybe…well, it was too late now. Running her hands over the front of her dress in a nervous way, she let the words roll out and off her tongue, trying hard to keep her face from lighting up in a similar way to the lights on the poles around the square. “I…uhm….I actually live up here…I bought a house and store and everything…” She thought of the estate she owned, and suddenly she had
  17. Nari checked the time again – she had messaged NIGHT and told her to come to Floor Twenty-Seven at exactly six o’clock. That left her just over thirty minutes to make her way to the teleporter pad. It was more than enough time, and yet…Nari felt anxious, as if she was running late. Gathering up Yuki, she left the shop, closing and locking the door behind her as she went. She checked herself again, the armour and shield gone and the violet dress in its place. She had spent the entire morning going through her wardrobe trying to find something that would best fit her for this encounter. She had
  18. Nari’s mind snapped back to the present as the sound of hooves clomping the ground came slowly closer. Glancing around, Nari saw what appeared to be a creature that appeared to have the upper body of a man, and the legs of…a sheep?...some hooved animal. Atop its head were two horns that curled up and backwards, similar to a goat in Nari’s mind. She paused in her search as the creature continued to approach her, clearly making a line towards Nari herself. Her hand drifted towards her sword, the shield on her right arm raising slightly as she waited to see if this creature would be friend
  19. As soon as she left the gates of the large city, it felt as though something had lifted from her shoulders – her entire form, right down to her core felt lighter. Nari smiled, enjoying the peaceful walk through the flowing fields, following the path that led towards Mount Olympia. She had gained the directions from another within the city, quickly thanking them before rushing onwards, a feeling of absolute dislike in her stomach at the conversation – not because of the other individual, but because of the action itself. Even with how much she had grown over the last little while here, she stil
  20. Nari had arrived early, hoping to beat everyone else to the meeting location that they had agreed upon – a large fountain in a small courtyard just down the street from this blacksmith they were supposed to go see for the second part of this quest. She paced nervously, moving back and forth in front of the fountain with a look of agitation on her face. It had been a little while since she had last seen Bismuth, Koga and…Night. Her heart constricted a little at the name. That first encounter had been…well, something else. She had felt her mind returning to it over and over again, replaying the
  21. Lost in thought staring at the message, Nari didn’t notice as time slowly crept by. She continued pouring over the message, trying to piece together the less-than-cryptic words, which somehow seemed to carry a hidden meaning – at least to her eyes. It frustrated her that she couldn’t figure it out just by reading it over and over again – and eventually she slammed the close button on the dialogue box. Glancing about she noticed that those few others whom had been in the large square with her had disappeared, and she figured it was time that she herself moved on. Making her way across to t
  22. Nari was busy at her anvil, Yuki curled up on the workbench, appearing unbothered by the rhythmic ringing of Nari’s work. She had been lost in thought over a few things, including the evolution of her relationship – if you could call it that – with NIGHT. Things were…taking a turn, for lack of a better understanding. ‘Dinner…I asked her out to dinner. What was I thinking? Did I really…?’ A sudden alert appeared beside Nari’s hand, just as her hammer rose to swing again at the piece she had been working on. The appearance of it caught her off guard, and drew her attention away for the brie

  24. Her heart filled with a mixture of confusion over the last few days, Nari found herself secluded to the workshop – her hammer and anvil a safe place for her otherwise unsure world. Yuki, seated upon the workbench watching as Nari went to work on her crafts, seemed content with the arrangements. Although the fox had never once complained about following Nari around everywhere, she had the odd feeling that Yuki enjoyed the seclusion of the workshop as much as her. Raising the hammer, Nari brought it down on the materials seated on top of the anvil, hammering away as piece by piece came to
  25. Nari glanced at the bowing man whom had just joined them, his words about a second part of the quest catching her attention. She flicked her gaze around the group, a sudden odd feeling in her chest, as if she was worried she might lose something precious here. “A second… we-we should do that together too! I-I mean if you want to, that is…” her face flushed entirely as she spoke, her eyes shifting to NIGHT, but her words clearly for everyone. “That is… I would love to do it together. The quest. As a group. As… friends.” She glanced at Koga and Bismuth with the final word, clearing mea
