  1. Her mind pulled her back to a time when she had first ever gone camping. It had been mid-September, the first snowfall had just cleared itself away from the land, and warmer temperatures had begun to return. The two others she had ended up coming with – friend’s that she had long ago stopped spending time with – had as much experience with camping as Nari herself had, which was to say that between the three of them there was nothing. The first night had been the worst, as the temperatures had dipped down below freezing once more. Nari had sat within her tent, curled up in her sleeping ba
  2. Nari stopped meddling with the dirt as the man mentioned her was one of the frontliners. Nari’s eyes went wide in realisation, she had known that there was more to him than caught the eye, but she had never figured he was a tank of all things. Bowing her head in a sign of respect, she clasped her hands before herself, before returning back to the task of searching the roots of the plants. Her voice was softer as she spoke, a tone of respect in the words she provided. “A frontliner? How did you do it? How do you do it? Do you not fear death? Does it not cause a chill down your spine a
  3. Nari could feel the cold air beginning to nip at her – and knew that sooner or later she would need to do something in order to warm herself up. She’d already been out here for hours – and although she knew the cold itself wouldn’t cause the same dangers as in the real world, Nari also knew she wasn’t going to take risks in this world. Looking for an area nearby that would be sufficient, Nari began to stray off the path she had been following thus far. A small clearing beneath a widespread tree eventually caught Nari’s attention, a small log settled upon the ground creating a perfect seat
  4. Nari felt her glance shift towards Jomei’s form across the arena, the words that Astreya had stated ringing in her mind. ‘Was he…going easy on me? It certainly hadn’t felt like it, not towards the end, at least.’ Nari smiled as she returned her gaze to Astreya, something about the girl’s chipper behaviour bringing a wave of happiness over her. Glancing at the two fighters she was pointing out, Nari watched them trade blows for a second, before nodding her head. “It would appear as though you’ll have quite the fight ahead of you, regardless of which comes out victorious. For myself,
  5. Nari looked down at the dirt beneath her hands, seeing the more brutal mess she had made of the dirt in comparison to the man beside her. She felt a pang of regret at the mess – a feeling of upset at having caused such devastation in such an area of beauty. She caught herself as her hands began to push the dirt back, as if to return the area to how it once was. “Ambitions? Goals…? Do we have those still, beyond simply escaping this death game? Perhaps once, I had those…but now…now all my focus is on getting strong enough to make my way to the frontlines, to place my effort among those fi
  6. Her mind drawn by to the present by the sound of something snapping in the woods, Nari spun around, her eyes searching for the cause of the noise. The trees swayed slightly in the soft wind, the branches almost seeming to dance as Nari looked between them into the deeps of the darkness that they created. Her breath coming in slow bursts, Nari eventually lowered her weapon and shield – suddenly realising that she had taken a defensive stance without a second thought. Nari felt a moment of pride at the subtle perfection in her reaction, the fact that she had unconsciously become prepared to
  7. Nari’s mind began to wander as she continued her path through the woods, thinking back to the time she had visited a local wolfdog sanctuary. She had been so enthralled by the large animals, watching as they had prowled the fenced areas that they had been kept in. It was nothing like the wolves that she had seen in the zoos – although both were caged, the sanctuary had provided several acres of open land for the wolfdogs to explore and live within. Nari had spent most of her day then just watching the animals wandering, sometimes coming to the fence to watch Nari in return. She had – at
  8. Nari glanced between the item in her inventory now, and the spot where the woman had once stood. Nari realised she hadn’t been given any further details about how to tame this creature once it was found, nor what the creature was even supposed to look like. ‘Perhaps…perhaps it differs for each person, like so much else in this world.’ Nari’s head bobbed with the thought, her agreement taking a physical form. Unsure of what else to do, Nari began walking again, continuing upon the path she had begun with. She figured that there was not much else for it – except to search for anything that

  10. Returning to the forge that she was becoming more and more comfortable in – yet still amazed at every time she entered – Nari wondered what she should spend her time today focusing on creating. She had limited success with the heavy armour the day previous, but…well, everyone did always need some protection. But she was also aware that protection came in the form of offensive capabilities, as much as being surrounded by metal. Glancing about, she knew that she wanted to branch out a bit from her typical work. Thinking back to what she had seen around, she decided upon some weapons – a col
  11. The man was clearly different from most she had ever met, but he seemed well-versed in his own skills, something that Nari could not ignore. Perhaps his odd speech came from his focus, or from his disconnection with people and his truly enhanced connection with the land around him. Whatever the reasoning may be, she felt a measure of respect as he carefully tended to what was obviously a garden that he himself had brought to existence here. Nari watched the man as he carefully pulled away the soil, revealing the metal-laced roots and pigments below, something that Nari had never previousl
  12. It took a moment for Nari to focus on the woman standing in the shade of a tree. She wore a short dress and headband that did in fact remind Nari of the gypsy folk of fairy tales and stories. Yet there was something…off putting about her. Nothing dangerous, just an air to her that felt…mysterious. Lowering her sword slightly, Nari stepped closer to the woman, calling out as she did so. “Are you the one that people seek should they be looking for a companion?” Although she didn’t raise her tone much, Nari’s voice carried across the open air as if she had shouted. The woman turned her
  13. Although she wanted to stay seated on the snow, curled up in a ball and ignoring the world around her, Nari knew that she had no choice but to continue on – or turn back and return to Snowfrost. It was far from her to give up so easily, and so, she found herself rising to her feet and heading further into the woodlands, deeper along the path she had been following thus far. The snow continued to crunch against her feet as Nari kept her eyes out for any signs of others in this deserted area. It had been a long time since she’d even seen the small animals of the game anywhere, and she was s
  14. “I…recently finished becoming a blacksmith. I’ve heard that…that there’s a quest for foraging. I’m thinking that may be beneficial next…” Nari let her eyes roam over the area, taking in the different grasses and plants, the tenderness that the man used to break apart the roots and collect the pieces from them. She couldn’t help but feel a bit of awe at the way in which he handled the plants – it reminded her of the gentleness a farmwoman she once knew had. Nari smiled as the memories of the woman returned, her eyes going distant for a moment. As she came back to her newfound reality, she
  15. The cold, bitter air had begun to take its toll on Nari as she came to another stop. She figured that she had been travelling for nearly three hours at this point with no sign of her goal. Stopping to breath warm air onto her hands, she closed her eyes, letting the exhaustion her body was feeling have a moment of control. She knew that she couldn’t truly stop and rest here, there was still far too much time left in the day for that to occur. ‘Just a few moments, to give myself a respite. Even I cannot continue walking the entire day, regardless of the willpower.’ Shaking her body from he
  16. Nari couldn’t quite remember what had originally brought her here – she had been told that the fourth floor was snow covered, and although she had always disliked the winters months, perhaps she had seen it as a way to reconnect with the home she had lost when this whole death game had started. Whatever the reason had been, Nari had spent the last few hours wandering the snow-covered forests beyond the main settlement of Snowfrost. Although she was once again on her own – something that she enjoyed, especially in a silent, somehow soothing environment such as this – she had heard that it was p
  17. Standing slightly off to the side, Nari will suddenly shyly grin, speaking up from her semi-hiding place behind Astreya. Her words – although not nearly as loud or confident as the others, were spoken with what she felt was a confident tone – although they likely still rang with an air of uncertainty and shyness. “You…own a restaurant? I’d love to come try some food…all I’ve had to eat is some half-decent NPC made stuff. Which – don’t get me wrong…it’s not, I mean it’s not great. It’s not horrible. But something better would be better. I mean good. I mean, enjoyable. Can I come too?”
  18. Nari carefully followed the strange follow at a distance, noticing that he was trying to stay out of arm’s reach, but still within visible sight of her. She took a few glances around as she followed, watching for those glowing bars that stood out of the materials she had come here in search of. She was thankful for the red cape – it acted as a beacon to his location in this world of green, black and brown. It certainly made following his otherwise easily lost form far less difficult than if she had needed to rely on just his movements, or the outline of him against the soft glow of the s

  20. Content with what she had found on this creature’s demise, Nari turned and made her way back across the fields, deciding that she had done more than enough for today. Her muscles were beginning to protest, and she knew that she needed to call it quits before she did something stupid. ‘In this game, you can’t take stupid risks, else it could very well be the last thing you ever do.’ It didn’t take her long to make her way back to the wagon – which she found exactly where she had left it, much to her surprise. The green-clad woman appeared from within upon Nari’s approach, clearly signifyin
  21. Nari smiled to herself as her sword struck – even though the boar managed to slip past her own defences, she had clearly had the stronger strike. Along its side was a large tear that glowed blue – marking where her sword had sliced along its body. In return, the boar had managed to slam into her beneath her shield, driving the edge of its tusk into her thigh as it did so – something that Nari barely even registered as she pulled away from the creature. Stepping back from the boar once more, Nari took a breath, relaxing her muscles and settling back into her ready stance. The tip of her bl
  22. Her approach seemed to alert the creature, and although she attempted to adjust at the last second, the boar managed to jump to the side as her blade swung up and towards it – causing Nari to overstep and miss her attack. In an attempt to retaliate, the boar shoved its head forwards and towards Nari, clattering off her shield as it struck her defences to no avail. Collecting herself, Nari stepped back to give herself a moment to reset. Realising that she couldn’t just rush in and hope for quick success, she decided to take this more carefully, holding her shield in a guard position before
  23. Nari was happily surprised as the boar exploded into a collection of pieces before her. Although she hadn’t gained any useful materials for her blacksmithing, the experience itself had been quite enjoyable. She glanced around, spotting another boar nearby, and deciding it couldn’t hurt, she rushed across the field to meet it. The urge to swing her sword and watch her target explode in finality had caught up with her, and now there was nothing to stop her from engaging in a bit of battle – it was far better than just pulling aside rocks, anyways. As she came closer to the boar, she slowed
  24. The under swing proved successful – but also proved the boar with an opening to strike against her, the tusk of the animal slicing across her face as it sailed by. Nari barely even registered the creature’s counter attack as it passed by her. Spinning around, she brought herself back to her feet, stepping forward towards the boar once more in an attempt to bring this fight to a quick close. It was far different from her first engagement – she could already see it severely injured. It had taken her far longer before to cause this much damage, which one showed how she had already progressed
  25. Nari twirled to the side as the boar rushed her – the creature heading straight in with a charge faster than Nari had expected. This was completely unlike her last fight – and she wondered for a brief second if the punching of the boulder had dulled her to what combat was truly meant so be. Not ready to think about it too much yet, she completed her twirl, bringing herself around to face the boar. Launching herself forward, she drew her blade down and back, preparing to bring it slashing upwards towards the creature’s soft belly, hoping that it would cause a decent amount of damage.
