NIGHT 0 Posted October 16, 2020 Author #41 Share Posted October 16, 2020 It pained NIGHT knowing to no end that her strikes weren't landing, almost causing the woman to wish she had Dragon's Gaze back on her person just so she could connect with the peep. Somehow, that void coating her sword seemed to resonate with that anger, that frustration and agony; it pulsated a little more, reach ever extending just as the woman dove in for a second strike at the chick. A clean hit. But perhaps the energies had kept her blade silent, keeping its appetite sated with a different kind of vitriol to fuel its pangs. Only the trickle of malice scattered forth to dig deep into the marshmallow fluff, accentuating the hole that was punctured through its form further from Freyd's devastating attack. She'd reeled back in a similar manner when her blade's weight had lifted -- not so much a struggle for the woman this time, rather a shuffle away just to clear space for her party members to take aim at their target. Freyd 0 Posted October 16, 2020 #42 Share Posted October 16, 2020 Watching NIGHT deliver her blow was intriguing. Was she possibly disturbed at the prospect of dealing damage so directly? The master of DOTs could imaginatively be heard complaining of such uncivilized manner of combat, then tossing her tainted weapon aside in disgust. To be fair, she did have a precedent pattern of discarding weapons in such a manner. Freyd had been an unexpected beneficiary. Lining up a follow-up strike just as she pulled back, Freyd's blade echoed some of the darkened energies that had torn a deep and devastating gash in the Peep's side. It was waning in strength, and quickly. "Cro, Chase, why don't you see if you can finish it off for us. I think it's nearly spent." Freyd took several careful steps back. His luck in such situations normally dictated that the bloody thing would deny the laws of physics and somehow find an improbable, or even outright impossible, way to land on him as it fell. Crozeph 0 Posted October 16, 2020 #43 Share Posted October 16, 2020 The Giant Peep was close to death's door, Just land a few more strikes and they'll be good to go in the next area. He kept his eyes on it "just a few more hurdles and we're done here" he said as he charged into the peep. His blade is imbued or rather upgraded with the buff he received from playing chubby bunny and all he wanted was to land a blow enough to kill it. He launched himself forward, his deformed katana already glowing to make a wound to the giant peep. "One slice to the neck and it'll be..." as he planted his foot forward, he stepped on a critter that got crushed and let out syrup like it was its blood. The ground became much more slippery that Crozeph fell on his back, his katana missing an inch for a cut to the throat "oh for fuck's sake!" he cursed under his breath as he tried to stand up quickly. ChaseR 0 Posted October 17, 2020 #44 Share Posted October 17, 2020 (edited) With the splat from the little bunny that Cro stepped on, the bluehead shook his head in disbelief and let out a groan. He prepared himself for another strike and ran forwards, ramming the half-blade right into its chocolate, chunky body, only to feel the blade stopped shortly- yes, shorter than it even was long. He quickly pulled it back to see what tiny damage he had dealt, miffed that whatever demonic buff the bunny ears gave him had run out. He was so powerful with it just a strike before, but... "Why don't you take care of it, NIGHT? Uh... Your sword's sharper, plus, you hit much harder too?", he turned to her with a thumbs up and a wink, standing in front of all of the three to make sure the Peep wouldn't tr sneaking any attack past him to wound his companions. NIGHT 0 Posted October 17, 2020 Author #45 Share Posted October 17, 2020 Oh, this should be lovely. The sliver of health was much consolation for the fight to be over, but her aim-- NIGHT grit her teeth just as ChaseR had asked her to go forth and decimate her opponent. She desperately would've liked to do so, too. Enough to beckon forth a salivating jet ink from her edge when she wasn't looking, the streak tearing behind her just as she'd dove towards the marshmallow target. Even if it was large, wobbly and unmoving, for some strange reason half the fight had been nothing, no net, and so it was with a heavy succession of quick and rapid blows that the player managed to sink her sword into its pathetic and shuddering form. That tar spilled upon the floor in bubbles, acid eating at the sugary goodness before them in seconds. It was only when the peep was half-gone, sunken into the abyss that the player had stopped, panting, looking for any other signs of threats in the vicinity. There were none. Freyd 0 Posted October 17, 2020 #46 Share Posted October 17, 2020 The confounded peep came crashing down, its injuries seemingly as much internal as external. Freyd took note, having never before witnessed the true strength of NIGHT's combat prowess. 'So that's how she does it,' he thought, seeing the pool of black bile bubble up and out of the mob, then eat away at the very substance of the room itself. It reminded him, eerily, of the same toxic substance that his Gemini had drawn forth from Mari. The very notion of a possible connection was disturbing to say the least. His analytical daydream was interrupted by the systems interface pinging to announce the arrival of new loot. A cursory examination confirmed its potential value. With the floor boss raid looming, such items would be essential. "Thanks," he said to NIGHT with a nod, avoiding any specific explanation. Did he mean for her last strike, the revelation on her combat build, the invitation to join her on this hunt, or also for the loot they were receiving. It could have been any one of those things, or all of them. He'd let her take it as she wanted. Crozeph 0 Posted October 17, 2020 #47 Share Posted October 17, 2020 The Giant Peep died with Crozeph only dealing one blow at it and the rest was taken care of by Night, it's as if she was Peter Pan saving them, the lost boys, from a bigger trouble. He wrapped the fabric around the blade of his katana again and now he followed after Freyd as he landed the final blow. "Sorry about that, I wasn't useful this time around," he told them. After a few seconds as he watched the fragments go up from the death of the peep, a notification appeared in front of him. "An over-health, consumable," he thought. "Are we nearing the end?" he asked Night as they begin to move to the next location "I can see my energy quite low, will it be enough for the next mob we're going to take out?" he asked another. Crozeph didn't want to be using meditation while they fight, it's handy, true but in terms of efficiency he would be losing the chance to help deal damage. ChaseR 0 Posted October 17, 2020 #48 Share Posted October 17, 2020 (edited) And with a final hit from NIGHT, and a brutal one at that, the boss fell and disappeared into beautiful shards. Of course, that meant there was more candy to pick up on the floor though. He quickly moved back and grabbed hold of his box, only to get interrupted by the stupid loot window in front of him- stupid or not, that did mean there was a boss reward. Neat. While everybody else seemed rather happy to have scored a big buck or good grab, he had instead gotten double loot from the monster's preset- meaning more col and materials to bathe in. Normally, he'd scoff at the rewards. He knew that he had no need for more currency to waste, but he could always save it up for the future. No complaining there, he knew when he was being greedy and when he wasn't. "Let me pick up some more candy and we'll get going. If the previous bosses are anything to go by, we can get it down easily, Krow.". Couldn't have it without the trademark mispronounciation, could we? NIGHT 0 Posted October 18, 2020 Author #49 Share Posted October 18, 2020 Her recovery had been with tussled hair, a heavy breath to expel her annoyance with her luck -- or her accuracy -- this day. Just as her party had spoken with a myriad of responses (Heck was that thanks for?), her eyes shifted over to their statuses, the player gauging out a rough estimate of how Crow was looking on his energy reserves, as asked from him. "You'll be fine," she dismissed. There was a change in demeanor from her ragged form to one of care just as she'd crossed over the inky thresholds, corruption's effects barely starting to wane from its exposure to reality. What lied ahead of them was a long road; at the end one final door, and NIGHT could already hear of the bass pounding and reverberating against the walls and floors before them. She turned to her party, nodding over to the closed door. Then, in a flurry of greebles, she vanished once again. Spoiler ID: 173351 | LD: 13 (5, +7) | Entering Stealth. Freyd 0 Posted October 18, 2020 #50 Share Posted October 18, 2020 Freyd took the lead, certain that the others would follow, including NIGHT by her usual clandestine means. Heaving the door open with his shoulder, the space beyond was strangely dark save for a raise platform in the centre that looked to be equipped with... was that a drum set? And a turntable?! There was a sound like a balloon popping, followed by a sudden suction of wind that pulled them all into the chamber. The heavy chocolate-clad doors slammed shut behind them. Multi-coloured spotlights flared on with a blinding kaleidoscope of colour, converging onto the central stage, where a large rabbit-like figure with solid black shades over his eyes slowly rose forth from a fog-spewing opening in the floor. Twin beat stick materialized in his hands as the gazed upon the trio, NIGHT's presence having somehow remained undetected. Freyd hoped she hadn't been left outside. "Aww, hell," Freyd cursed, looking over at ChaseR. "At least it's not Fenrir, am I right?" A grin split his face as he threw himself forward and crashed his blade into the thing. Crozeph 0 Posted October 18, 2020 #51 Share Posted October 18, 2020 The next area was still true to its theme, Candyland. He wouldn't be surprised if they saw Candy Man in the dungeon also but then again the name might sound sweet but the person does not. Crozeph saw the next target also but it was far from who he expected it to be. He quickly dashed as soon as Freyd's attack was almost over, his katana still strapped on his back. "Go for the throat" he muttered to himself, quickly grabbing the hilt of Skadi, Crozeph made one wide swing while loosening its fabric that acts as a sheet at the same time. It was a quick move and he executed it well this time. Skadi reacted to the player's instinct, to hunt. There are times where he just needs to let his body do its thing, just like how Hidden and Ariel taught him about it. The blade sliced at Sebastian's throat but it was far from killing the creature. His katana however was ready to deal additional burn to it. Skadi burst out blue flames and quickly gnawed at one of Sebastian's arm and then in a matter of few seconds, it quickly turned into ice. "Fenrir?" he heard from Freyd "must've been some kind of dog," he thought, spinning his katana and positioning it to guard. ChaseR 0 Posted October 19, 2020 #52 Share Posted October 19, 2020 (edited) Hearing the small comment about Fenrir made Chase frown and think back to whatever mess of a clear party that was. The first and hopefully only time he'd ever come close to death like that. With an unpleasant shiver and a glance back at the boss' health, he just gave a nod and confident smile. "It sure as fuck isn't Fenrir- this one's too easy!", he said with much pride swelling up in his chest, gripping the sword tightly in his hands and heaving. As he dashed all the way to right before Sebastian, he slammed it with the flat of his half blade that began to glow a very faint red, with streaks of blue lightning coursing through it, and his target. With his target now paralyzed and a lot of damage out of the way, Chase just jumped back to reposition, staying in front of the other three to take any blows the boss would send their way- in case it managed to pull through his status affliction of course. NIGHT 0 Posted October 19, 2020 Author #53 Share Posted October 19, 2020 Every time NIGHT gets spotted by an enemy, a kitten starts to cry somewhere in Aincrad. That kitten is her. She would be crying internally. Today was no exception to the case, as Sebastian immediately shot a look her way just as the doors had opened from underneath his thick, dank shades. She could tell. There was no need for obvious movements; the sudden glance in her direction was enough to kick the effect's icon off her status bar. As the player mourned for the loss of her status effect, it was her legs that carried her forward, following up on ChaseR's own beat towards the target. Perhaps the mishap could be chalked up to the singular thought of having expected the same field conditions as per her last attempt, the boss with its EDM field at the center of the room with gigantic speakers and none of the funk. But now, Sebastian had all of the funk. NIGHT figured better as she took her strike against the aggravating bunny. It would suffer just as much wrath as she'd wanted it to for its crimes against humanity (just her, actually). Spoiler ID: 173566 | LD: 1 + 7 = 8 | Maintaining Stealth. i will cry you a river. Freyd 0 Posted October 19, 2020 #54 Share Posted October 19, 2020 Freyd... it was so embarrassing... Lining up his next attack, he was halfway through his stride when the unseen suddenly became visible, right in the path of his strike. Aborting his run, Freyd slid right and crashed into the drum set, hard. A brief percussive cacophony followed, involving much cursing and slamming, culminating in the fall of a set of cymbals onto his head. Only a low and frustrated groan followed. How do you watch out for the thing you can't normally see coming? There had to be a better way to coordinate this in combat. The dungeon had seen some epic highs and miserable lows when it came to player strikes, so far. This was definitely one of the latter. Picking himself up and disentangling his legs from the busted snare drum, Freyd settled for the mild satisfaction that he'd at least have contributed to messing up the bunny's beats. Regardless of the setback, he knew they ultimately had HIM beat. Spoiler Galaxy Destroyer (x13): 13 EN - (Rested, Finesse 3, Turn Recovery) ID: #173635 | BD: 1 (miss). Crozeph 0 Posted October 19, 2020 #55 Share Posted October 19, 2020 "Night didn't proc her nuke?" Crozeph thought as he continued to move in the battlefield. What could've been a poisonous blow turned into a heavy landing attack. Freyd missed his attack and Crozeph knew just what to do as to not waste the opportunity. "I guess yeet force is not that reliable sometimes" he launched himself forward, Skadi held back and aimed for another wide swing. Crozeph closed the distance in a second landing just beside Sebastian "say hi to Mr. Phantomhive for me" he uttered before releasing a barrage of slashes. Everything connected but it seems the cuts are shallow this time,a price to pay for multiple attacks done in a matter of a few seconds. He planted one foot as he took a step backward and then he placed all his strength on the finishing blow on Sebastian's side. Crozeph then resumed moving while keeping his eyes on their target, just a few more rounds and they'll be able to get out of the place. ChaseR 0 Posted October 20, 2020 #56 Share Posted October 20, 2020 (edited) And there was some other fancy name that Chase understood little of- phantomhive? Whatever the hell was that? While pondering, they seemed to still have enough leeway to sneak in attacks with no retaliation whatsoever. So that's exactly what he did, he dashed in and with another current covering and running through his sword energetically as ever, he began to rip through the monster, slashing sideways over and over again. By the time all the gashes had disappeared, Sebastian was found wounded and paralyzed once more. "This one is definitely too easy. Do you think that he'll ever get his own turn?", he asked with a huff and sat much more laid back in front of the rest, watching NIGHT quietly and banking on her getting another clean hit in to make this go by any faster. "He's almost dead, let's finish this and get the rest of the candy~.", he suggested with a distinct carelessness, although that could easily be excused as the boss putting up too little of a fight if any at all. It was just taking hits right now, like any good damage sponge would. Spoiler ChaseR uses Galaxy Destroyer! NIGHT 0 Posted October 21, 2020 Author #57 Share Posted October 21, 2020 No let downs. Only the most basic of strikes -- there was cleanliness in that simplicity where NIGHT was concerned, especially after the effects of her hiding had worn off on Sebastian's singular predatory trait, that eagle eye. Her blade molded in her hand, shifting with a multitude of pixels, reforming into a blade she'd prefer not to use; its length was much larger than was necessary of a weapon, and in her swing of its weight, the player had nearly toppled over entirely, missing her mark. --But the weapon had found its way, tilting in the right direction of its own accord. Blunt as it was, Cardinal still pulled through. A flash of white as she'd tore into the rabbit's face, attempting to shatter its shades. No luck on that front. Instead, just as the bunny recoiled from her slash, the woman shifted back to its rear, attempting to make space while keeping her distance close. Freyd 0 Posted October 21, 2020 #58 Share Posted October 21, 2020 Kicking the shattered drum set into their air with extra strength born of frustration, Freyd whacked it like a baseball using the flat of his blade. The clattering junk smashed into the side of Sebastian's startled face as he wondered whether his own instruments had suddenly turned against him. That moment of confusion was enough to provide the Whisper with the opening he needed, stabbing first through the open ring of the damage drum frame, following up with a series of vicious slashed intended to shave everything from the whiskers down. The oddly shorn bunny was left looking like he'd been attacked by a combo of angry shavers and clippers. Tufts and stray patches of fur were all that remained on his left side, along with a series of nasty, grid-like orange gashes in the mesh of his digital form. Anyone with a keen eye who had more than a moment to gander amidst the chaos of combat would instantly recognize that they spelled a message: 'STAB HERE FOR LOOTZ!', followed by a rather auspicious 'X'. Crozeph 0 Posted October 21, 2020 #59 Share Posted October 21, 2020 For some reason, Crozeph did redeem himself in this area... Continuously moving, looking for the right moment to strike, if there was one thing that he always wanted, it was to live up to the name of his katana and apply what learning other players had pounded into his thick skull. He saw Night switch into another weapon that landed a clean hit to Sebastian, no DoTs, just plain power, like a nuke but minus the radiation and fallout. Freyd also did him a favor, marking a spot to attack Sebastian. Crozeph made a faint grin, trying to hide his excitement as Skadi began acting up. Surely his katana liked hunting and making a place is enough for Skadi to actually give him the reason to go ham on a rabbit. He lowered his katana and dashed towards Sebastian, heeding Freyd's voice and keeping his eyes on the marked area. IN a matter of seconds he was already near Sebastian. "Ichi no Kokyu: Hekireki Issen - Rokuren!" Crozeph uttered and moved forward, six quick dashes, all while landing attacks at the last mob, blue flames emanated but instead of locking Sebastian in place, the ice and fire his katana bursting out engulfed it. After the attack, Crozeph stumbled and rolled away from it while Sebastian disintegrated. "I'm okay!" he told them as he stood upholding some kind of muffin with icing on it and ate it as if he hadn't eaten for weeks. As he ate, a notification window popped out in front of him and indicated the loot he got for killing Sebastian, an unidentified armor with demonic quality "neat, something to actually use in the future" he told himself. Crozeph picked up a few more sweet and quickly regrouped with NIght and the others, a sack half- full with him. ChaseR 0 Posted October 21, 2020 #60 Share Posted October 21, 2020 (edited) And finally, the fight was over for all of them. It was time to head home, feast on these sweats and whatever loot they happened to drop. And there it was, would you look at that- a demonic..! ... trinket. Bleh. Just when he'd asked for a bunny stamp and the leader of this party had assisted him, he got one when he needed it the least. Whatever the case, he could always see if it would open up more equipment options for him or Mari. The others, he wasn't so sure what they would get. This was definitely good though- just not as good as a weapon or armor. He knelt and brought his box closer to himself, picking up candies from the ground quietly and tossing them in almost greedily, like a gremlin trying to scour for food after coming out of its cave's darkest crevices for years on end. "I'll just pick up some candies before the dungeon disappears and we get booted out, seeing as this was all... Good job everyone though."
