[PP-23] Shaking Off the Rust, for New Time's Sake <<Slime Conundrum>>

Thing's weren't quite spiralling, but there was a definite circular pattern in the layered waves of slime around the room with which he was uncomfortable.  Getting flushed was not an option, not that he expected it with this caliber of companions, but the slime hoard were as valid a slog as he'd encountered outside of any raid.  While the others regrouped, Freyd thought it best to see if he could re-level the keen by doing exactly what everyone was expecting.  That shouldn't be hard, right?  

"Thank goodness for you, Wulfrin.  Nice timing on that stun!"  Freyd's initial flurry struggled against the king proper, its gelatinous consistently being far slicker than that of its minions.  At least he could knock it down another peg before turning is attention to the rest.  Flinging himself into a controlled spin, the Whisper's movement unlocked a familiar keening wail the ended abruptly with the sudden disappearance of the more badly damaged mob.  Freyd's fist just devoured what was left, drifting after-pixels and all.  Its companion surged, seeking to engulf him, only to run afoul Samael's Pride's seals restored to full strength and bursting forth a bubble of blazing white light as its wielder brought the two wraps into contact.  The smear left behind soon became a lovely, scintillating blast pattern of pinkish-purple fragments.  Unfortunate that they still stank.

Royal Gel: On an MD 9-10, the <<Slime King>> will launch an AoE attack at the four players with the highest hate, dealing 160 DMG and afflicting them with T4 Blight for two turns. This skill cannot occur once <<Gelatinous Form>> has activated.
Quick Split: On a CD 9+ and LD 10+, the <<Slime King>> will not attack and instead, summon a <<Slime Abomination>> to his aid. A <<Slime Abomination>> can only be summoned once per turn. This skill is deactivated once <<Gelatinous Form>> has activated twice.
Gelatinous Form: Every time the boss’ health reaches 0, two more Kings will spawn, using the next lowest HP available. If a Slime King with the lowest amount of max HP possible dies, he will not spawn any more.

Slime Abomination:
Back and Forth: If a <<Slime Abomination>> takes 500 DMG before its next turn, it will attack twice during the following turn.
Strength in Numbers: If any other Slime monsters are alive, every second attack, the <<Slime Abomination>> will instead heal every Slime for its DMG.
Unison: If another Slime monster falls, <<Slime Abomination>> will gain +10 DMG for the rest of the battle.

The man flares into action as the rest of his party would descend on the slime entity hoping to regain its shape. Removing a stone from his pocket, he'd rake it down the length of his sword. A spark would see it catch flame, casting a fair shadow over his face. Coated in heat, the swordsman would rush the opponent down and dump that steel through its posture. This converts some of its body which still quivered into a steam. A horrifying shriek as the fire would take hold, it struggled against its own incapacitation. A ripe control of the entire encounter, as Raidou looked on to its available hit points still lingering in its bar and to the port holes in the wall. It would try to split, and his attentions would link to that expectation. "Soon." The man would offer a subtle nod to his group, keeping his explanation painfully short as to keep his focus on the fight itself.

"I aim to please," Wulfrin smirked as he prepared for another assault. "Let's keep up the pressure. These things are HP sponges. Doesn't help that they're hard for me to hit either."

Wulfrin dashed forward seeing the Slime King having but a small amount of health remaining. With a swift downward strike, his cerulean lit blade cut straight down the Slime King's center. The bifurcated boss fell to the ground with a sickening slopping sound. Wulfrin's heart sank when the two halves began to animate and move independently of each other.

"Great," Wulfrin sighed. "Black Pudding rules apply. This just got infinitely more infuriating."

Wulfrin backed off, falling back to clear the way for his companions. Patience was going to be the winning strategy for this one. He knew he had a significantly smaller tank than the other members of his party, so that became his main focus. Keeping the mooks that spawn off the king in his sights would become his priority. Wulfrin's grip tightened around the hilt of his blade as he readied himself to continue the attack.

Recovers +4 Natural EN

Eruda was tired of missing, tired of feeling utterly useless with these last few creatures that decided to spawn at will. Everyone was doing a fair job of putting them down, Raidou was doing a great service in keeping their attention but it was time to change things up. What she was attempting was not working and something had to give. Eruda would try something that she had not yet used. It was a skill that was got so long ago and thinking today was the day to dust it off. 

Stomping on the ground as her sword lights in blue flames. Rushing forward at the large slime creature, getting closer with a slide as she positioned her sword. Jumping, Eruda would uppercut with that movement, landing behind it. Upon impact the thing ignites in steaming hot fire that seemed to be melting the sludge away slowly, each drop against the puddle beneath causing an echo throughout the cavern they found themselves deep within.

Blue flames spat from Eruda's sword, unlike anything Star had ever seen before. He followed her closely, creating a laughable mimicry with his own sword art. Burn was the secret, the key to melting through the Slime King's many multiplying health bars. It was a shocking realization--not because it was so far fetched, but because it had taken him so long to figure it out. Her fire engulfed the leftmost duplication of the king; his expanded around its twin. They grew hotter, the musty sewer air fueling and sustaining them. Their tank, along with the charring nuisance they had created, kept their attention, allowing for the remainder of the party to do as they wished.

One slash across the King's chest. Morningstar spun, dodging a sword swing meant for another.

Another along its lower back. Slime oozed from its wounds, dripping off the end of his blade.

Lastly, its heel. It toppled over, but only for a moment as its body regenerated. Missing chunks of slime were replaced and quickly, it returned to its strong, tall stature.

"Oh, good," Freyd grin, sensing opportunity in the vile gelatin's division.  Strike at nothing, but directly between the two newly hatched halves, the Whisper wrenched his wrist like he was unlocking the back door to the universe. Not far off point, a screeching wail flooded the dungeon as a pinprick hole manifest in the space occupied by his fist: Samael's Pride the gateway to oblivion somehow loosing its seals.

Slime kings collided with a sickening squelch, like eggs splattered against a sidewalk, then battered against each other by dueling cosmic leaf blowers.  One was pulverized instantly, its burbbling bloopiness shattered to the point of extinction from the moment of its birth and devoured by the void, only to spawn two smaller, equally annoying lessers.  They'd be dealt with by the others in a moment.

Wrenching his wrist back in the counter way to clocks, Freyd smashed closed the vicious portal as forcefully as it had opened.  The outward burst of energy unleashed sent him tumbling backwards while the second king splattered against the adjacent wall with such force that it nearly became paint.

"Bahahah," cackled a slightly unhinged, thoroughly mucused Whisper, bits of his enemy dripping unceremoniously off the tip of his nose. 

"Awesome."

"Keep it going..." The girl breaks the words off mid sentence while talking at Wulfrin. Picking it back up in the most nuanced way she knew how "You.~" Flashing him a pair of thumbs up, before her index on both hands slide out creating a peachy pair of machine guns. "Let her rip, Commanding Vivace!" A puff of her cheeks as she slaps her left hand under her right, and cocks her index like the slide of a firearm. "BANG" the girl squeals and a wave of energy rips from her sending droplets of green goo spraying like a water hose hitting a windshield. Freyd only had mere seconds where his stamina bar transitioned back to green before it immediately surged and started to flash once more. "Heh, bullseye. Now what?" The girl squirreled her head into her armor like a turtle shell, looking for a bit more fire to pop into this light show. Tossing a small stone underhand to Raidou, the show was about to begin.

"Eruda Shield up! More inbound. Wulfrin, Morningstar. Well done." The swordsman spat in a hurried phrase and an adjust of his glasses, his feet sliding deep and wide in an instant. A surge as his stamina bar would begin to see it plummet in a snap, and with it his frame would surge to close the gap. Like lightning, a blur of red sees him slide past in an opaque smudge. A spray of sparks across Eruda's shield sees a trail of flame draw itself into the wave, and with all that momentum carried a spin sees his glasses clatter to the ground and bounce with a slice of flame causing a discharge of green tinted mist that vaporize from droplets as his arm disappears into the fog and is followed by a notable snap. A moment of respite that almost creates an uncomfortable silence, and beneath that cloud cover comes firing an array of jagged appendages in a transparent lime color. A splash of sparks as a set connects with Raidou, and the other dozen seek out the blonde. A clash of steel and nothing more then a stalemate remains.

"Keep up the heat!, Shiina to Morningstar..." A sharp jerk of his head would convey his meaning.

Wulfrin was doing his best. At this point he was starting to feel way out of his depth. Here he was in the depths of a sewer system, slashing into slimes that made his blade was practically ineffective here. Despite it all, Wulfrin continued to press his attack. The first slime molded itself around his wide arcing slashes. Wulfrin managed to find purchase within the second of the Slime Kings, causing it to reel back from the impact. Wulfrin's blade continued to arc with the newly formed Slime King simply shifted around his blade. Wulfrin gritted his teeth. This was getting annoying now. Not being able to hit anything was starting to get under his skin, but he kept his composure together as best he could. Frontliners were a level beyond what he could expect from himself at present, but Wulfrin held onto hope that there would be a time for him to shine in the near future.

"I'll keep up the attacks as best I can," Wulfrin called back. "It's up to you guys to wipe the field."

A slide of the newly formed sludge across her face, she'd grimace as she'd clear it off with her hand. "Gee good shooting tex, at least take me to dinner first." A wise cracked response toward @Wulfrin as the girl would start to hum. The vocal queues shift to a song but are cut short by a command from Raidou, the nod being the only real followable direction. "Heh, like the pointy stick?" Into her armor she rips out this transparent incandescent prism and tosses it haphazardly to the guy as 3 more fall out the bottom of her armor. One shatters into tiny fragments before turning to stardust.

"Oops, oh well. Only got about a billion of these things."

Starting back up the song right where she was so rudely interrupted weapons would start to blaze like one would expect them to when a sword art was being primed, ripe and ready to fire at a moments notice.

  • Pure Structure: Any DoT effects on the boss will last half their original duration, except for Burn. Afflicting the boss with Burn will also deal double damage to it.
  • Royal Gel: On an MD 9-10, the <<Slime King>> will launch an AoE attack at the four players with the highest hate, dealing 160 DMG and afflicting them with T4 Blight for two turns. This skill cannot occur once <<Gelatinous Form>> has activated.
  • Gelatinous Form: Every time the boss’ health reaches 0, two more Kings will spawn, using the next lowest HP available. If a Slime King with the lowest amount of max HP possible dies, he will not spawn any more.
