Ruri yawns deeply autonomously rubbing her eyes with both hands and sliding out of bed. A white t-shirt playing the part of night gown, she moves for a cabinet. Collecting her clothes, the girl starts to slip them on. Longer socks, a pair of tennis shoes. A small pair of shorts topped with a similar colored sweatshirt. Shoving her hands into the pockets, she'd yawn again. and look out the window. A serene somewhat absent morning that murmured in a near silence. Streams of sunlight pouring through the window panes in beams of white. The snap of her door shut as she exits her dorm, into the halls of the upper floor of the guild. Wandering down, finding only the smallest muffled speech as the only background noise. The meeting hall was rather absent, finding slips of paper littering the table that she'd walked past time and time again. Finding no value in actually seeing what they said. The girl moves with a newfound curiosity, sliding the papers over and finding the information on them deep. Aincrad was so much more different then she remembered, a door pops open and startles her. The paper in her hand scrambles behind her back, like a child hiding something they'd pilfered. A glance to the intruder shows its Raidou, causing her fright to twist into irritation. Raidou had caught her slide something behind her back, and that interest in the guilds work was an entirely new one. The fact was Ruri was more reclusive then most, and he'd been waiting for her to ask or show interest in branching out for quite some time. To the table he'd scan down, brushing it with his hand. The distraction works, causing the bluenette to lean in and drawing her attention. A flick sees the paper snagged from her hands, causing her to twist and pound on his chest. "Piasuhon eh? I suppose we can manage." Her puffed out cheeks and concerned look spoke deeply at how she felt. "It's ok Ruri, we don't have to yet, take your time. At your pace, remember?" He'd place a hand on her shoulder, as it was as if he could read her reluctance and fears. The girl seems to shore up her resolve, without saying a word her scrunched up expression convinced him that she was trying to convince herself that she was ready to give it a try. "Alright, but it won't just be us." A shutter beneath his hand proved a mild terror at the taste of it, Ruri was just as gentle of a girl as ever. "What if they hate me? What if I'm not good enough?" She'd remark turning her head, avoiding the mans gaze and leaving her emotions to bear. A flick of his glasses up his nose, placing the sheet of paper back on the top of the mahogany table. When they get further toward the objective she would eat a few things quickly before dashing forward. Vanishing into the shadows that held against the tall wall. She would wait for the perfect opportunity to make her move. It was a bit weird to see Ruri out with them. She could not recall a time that she had fought side by side with the girl. All she knew about Ruri was that she had a similar build to her, not sure in what regard, and that she didn’t talk much. She was hoping that the young lad knew what she was doing in the field and could take orders from others besides Raidou. Sam was doing a fair job of keeping the incoming inventory organized. That was a crap ton of items coming in and she kept being called out to these things. She was glad that Sam chose to come back and do her actual job that she trained her to do. It allowed her to do more things like appraising and whatever this was. For the most part she was okay with going out with the team as long as it was steaming hot and shivering cold. It looked like where they were going was going to be warm, it shouldn’t be too bad. Taking her weapon out, preparing for whatever it was that they were fighting. Partaking of a few items to boost her outgoing attacks and she was ready to go. She would tighten her hair tie so that it didn’t come loose while in battle. She really should get it fitted better, on second thought maybe not. If she did then she wouldn’t have any room for her treats that she likes carrying around or sprinkles for that matter. Walking around with a bunch of bags would just get in the way and look weird, not that the baggy iron clad armor didn’t but it did its job. The man was great with words, it shouldn’t take much for him to do. Eruda was acting as a guide for Shiina, the girl's head was burrowed in that huge armor of hers. She knew for a fact that the armor was not translucent given that she had to readjust the girls movements twice now from crashing and burning into a wall. The multicolored pulses began under everyone's feet including the Rhino that was stomping its way into the arena. “Phantasmal Chorus: Cry of the Ancients” she says in an excited tone as her hair shifts colors. Waves of sound echoes out from her frame as her teammates would feel that boost, the Rhino was not so lucky. The beast was feeling the opposite effect of her group. People would see it begin to trip a bit but then shake it head. “Bring it you big bully” calling out toward it but her attentions lock to her allies, a silent nod that she'd offer them support as always as she would raise her hands up into the sky. The music would get louder, the vibrations would get stronger, this was only the beginning of what was going to come. But the girls volume continued to raise, becoming more volatile and potent. The air seemed charged and her music seemed to resonate off the walls of the arena. The crowd a normally rambunctious and untamed thing had become so deliberately silent. The brutality as the creature began to slow was notably different then the usual, as if something had come to a climax. Shiina was firing on all cylinders, and Simmone couldn't help but try and keep that going. A snap of her fingers sees the helix twine through the air, coiling around itself in a counterclockwise flow toward Shiina. It finds purchase and locks in like usual. But the odd side effect was entirely a new one. A thin transparent white cable seems to link between Simmone and Shiina, causing Simmone to recoil in discomfort to the sound of snapping chain links. "What the hell!?" The woman remarks in honest confusion, tracing the thing to her own chest and waving her hand through it. This mirrors up to the bars on the left side of her vision, watching the order shift around and a pair of chains tie her and Shiina's bars together. The woman would find a new square icon with a pair of playing cards alight and rimmed in gold on her HUD, parsing it verbally as it is read. "Divine Link: Double or Nothing?" spoken like a question based on inflection. Shiina's stamina bar and her own both surge in response, turning a brilliant gold as Simmone's eyes do the same. The cardinal prompt draws her eyes: 'House Wager placed, stamina levels normalized. Warning: Energy Regeneration is now bipartisan.' A slam of her fist into the Rhino's jaw, causing it to turn from the blow but is met with Kasumi on the opposed side as if she were her own partner. Blinking in time with her own strikes, a fist a foot a punch and a kick pummels the creature before it could even begin to parse what was happening. Each strike left it more dazed, winded and broken. A final axe kick drives it into the ground head first, leaving it stunned and confused. Kasumi exhales and lowers her extended foot to her hip and then down, a turn of her hand and a fold of her fingers to tighten the decree around her palm. Where normally she worked in unison with Setsuna, playing the part of setter and punching holes through an enemies defense. Today this was not the case, she was to operate on her own. This is mirrored by the fact her attire was a black and gold, her hair in a long braid and her expression much more 'driven' and lethal. "Down. Next order?" Kasumi barks in a small phrase spoken as a sitrep to her team, slamming her fists together and sliding her feet apart as she'd look to her superiors for order. Shiina's music causes her hands and heels to swell with power, as her stance is affirmed into place by practiced muscle memory. The cardinal could do a lot, but it couldn't build true reaction and response. That came naturally, through practice. The attacks like thunder, the silence that made up the space between like a void. The man cannot help but smile toward the girl, expressing a sense of safety and control. "If you need guidance." As if right on queue a comment from Kasumi affirms what he was trying to convey. "That is what a captain is for. You can do this." His attentions lock to Kasumi as his weapon is ripped from its sheathe. A roaring burst of dark blue outlines that slant of steel, as Raidou's posture moves poised to attack. "Prepare for a heavy hit, I'll soften it further." The swordsman remarks as his speed surges, sending a red cloth into a blurred streak that Kasumi turns to allow to pass. A brutal slam as the nomad connects, a horizontal slice that carves out a heavy dose of that thick hide. Without hesitation the man pivots and plants the blade in like a forcep, shoving it by the handle underneath his right arm behind him into the beast. Most of these people she didn't even know, some she'd only seen in passing through the guild but others this was the first time. Her own nagging feeling of inadequacy and as if she didn't belong here left her wanting to flee and escape. A glance toward Raidou as he drew his sword. The one named after her big sister. An inhale and exhale, trying to suppress her fears and discomfort. The guy had faith in her? Why? Always so damn... helpful. "God damn you, Raidou why can't you just be selfish. Instead of being so nice." She whispers beneath her breath, drawing her gaze to Piasuhon. From her inventory a very old blade that threatened to rust, the hood of her sweatshirt lowered and in a flash became a thick grey flap of linen. "What if I can't. What if you're wrong, Raidou? God damn you." The weapon begins to glow in a light blue that mirrored Raidou's own sword art color albeit a bit higher contrast. The pommel glows bright, stealing her attention and with it a small glimmer around Raidou's neck. The weapon detonates in a spray of blue lightning, springing to life after all these years. The Annealed Blade sunders the space between her and her foe in what accounts to a single frame, red blur topped in velocity by the bluenette too afraid to swing. A mix of a similar fighting style, one taught and one learned. With a bit of rust herself, the girl tears through with enough force to send her spiraling, feeling a tight grasp around her wrist and being spurned to a stop. The wanderer stops her dead, turning all that momentum into a dance that was remembered fondly. A bolt of blue lightning hits the horn on Rhino's head and discharges around it in a spray, catching up to the Blue Bolt's strike. Ruri's memories jump to the forefront, recalling over a hundred battles and with it a smile. "Why are you always right?" The tether that Simmone makes with Shiina only boosts the vibrations intensity around them. Raidou makes his move against the existence of the creature just being here, thunder rumbles in the storm that was brewing above. The moment Ruri attacked, lightning crashes down against the Rhino that was both blue and yellow bolts that strike him hard. Another thing that caught her attention was that Ruri was oh so very fast. Usually she saw people like Kasumi or Setsuna go from point A to B, she didn't see that. Ruri was just there with no warning at all. "That was amazing Ruri, keep it up" she says as it began to rain. It started out light but then it began to pour. It would seem that nature couldn't handle the energy that was stirring around the group. Eruda was only going to add to that. Seeing the beast turn eyes to Rai and Ruri, "Your fight is with me." There was no build up of flames this time just a simple reaction of instant rage the bursts out from Eruda's frame. Blue flames ignite the entire area around them, even in the rain it stayed lit. The Rhino wails out in pain as the fire was holding to all the open wounds that were already there. It attempted to get up from the ground, its legs were wobbly. Eruda pulls her shield hand up palm facing her as the fingers pointing straight up. "Stay down" saying in a very serious voice as her eyes were glowing blue within the darkened sky. Making her hand into a fist while staring right into the eyes of the beast, those flames ignite again causing the beast to fall once more splashing mud in every direction. "It's safe, I have his attention" Eruda calls out not taking her eyes off his. The thing was bathed in her flames, and the storm rumbled overhead. Raidou releases Ruri's arm, running his hand onto her head like an older brother causing the girl to jab him once in the chest in disapproval. "What can I say, I try very hard to be wrong sometimes." He remarks with a grin, pushing his glasses up his nose. The blink of lavender color proves Kasumi was ripe to strike, and it sets Raidou into a bout of seriousness. The blade implanted in the Rhino sees a bolt jump from the heavens down on it like a lightning rod. "With me." Raidou comments to the aether, knowing full well Kasumi could hear him. A jerk in and a clamp down on the blade sees a sword art trigger flash to activation, causing the swordsman to rip his blade out clean in a discharge of electricity. A massive chunk of the bosses bar evaporates, casting it immediately into a stark orange. A jab of his left hand causes the beast to turn, which causes it to return with a horn strike that is blocked by steel in a shower of sparks. The man sidesteps after the parry, to reveal an extended foot of his cousin. A silent understanding through their union. Knowing she was coming without concern, as if a silent expectation. Her heel engulfs in a rich and emboldened shade of purple, as her energy pours into it like any blade. As the man would turn, her image would flicker and toss her into her foe. The cardinal system screams out and deploys an impact that would rattle bones and rend skin. The rhino despite its stature is tossed with such force that it skips like a flat stone across a lake, the combined effort of the mugen tenshin kin showing a level of efficiency and collaboration that most only dreamed of. Piasuhon laid battered and beaten, burned and scorned. Its horn chipped, its body torn asunder. Its health lingered on the faintest chunk of red, and the girl looks to her cousin and pays him a nod. That calm demeanor and overwhelming force came in spades, through practice and experience they were both operating in a like mind. Simmone couldn't help but still be taken aback by exactly how efficient these little forays were. The team never had much difficulty dealing with virtually anything, and even some of the most difficult bosses were ground to dust in matters of seconds. This case, Piasuhon was absolutely beaten and broken and Simmone had more then enough juice left in tap for a much longer stint. The thin point of the blade is driven deep through a section of thick grey hide, puncturing up to the cross guard and requiring use of her heeled boot to have it removed. The last remaining chunk of its health in a painful red disappears, leaving an empty bar behind that is shortly followed by a spray of red fractals. This wasn't on the agenda, but when was anything the game did going to align with expectations? Moving closer to Raidou, she'd contimplate warping out. They had done their intended thing, so this was entirely unnecessary. But the wanderer and the rest of their party seemed to accept this as fact, shoring up blades and their expressions told Ruri that told her they weren't about to retreat. An inhale to corral her courage to a heftier depth, the girl grabs tight her katana in both hands. Without warning she seems to jerk and bend, her eyes flare in bright sapphire and she's doused in an echo of the same shade that escapes her pores. The katana sparks and becomes vocal, wreathed in deep blue lightning. "Ok." Ruri mutters, accepting this encounter that was thrust upon her. But it doesn't last, and as gates along the coliseum walls begin to spring open Shiina trails her gaze to witness them as they cascade like a chain demolition. Out of the doors comes all manner of foe, legionaries in leathers, large tanned lions not unlike the ones from her past. This was a gladiatorial arena after all, so it made sense yet seemed like they were working backwards. Piasuhon was the 'big one' so why dropping the small fry after the main course left Shiina a little addled. Her music twists to something more chipper, pushing the skills of her team forward a few steps to give them chance of an early offensive. Meanwhile droves of goons began to help themselves out of the metaphorical woodwork. The girl would scamper toward the middle of the room, allowing her team to crowd around her as they oozed in from all sides. The humanoids that were looking a lot like her. Hearing what Ruri said to Rai, "If you attack between Rai and I, we will keep you upright together." A smile given to the little bluenette, she knew that maybe the girl was freaked out not being in the field hardly ever these days but the girl had to know that she could count on anyone of them to have her back. Turning her vision toward the mixtures of enemies now, heat starts to raise against her frame with an explosion of fire in every direction. Rushing through the crowd, she would whistle as some of them were already following where she would go. "Come test that metal on me you idiots" she would mock them forcing them to turn to her in an outrage. Clanking on her shield with the hilt of her curved sword as they all come at her with their weapons held high. Every clash of metal on metal sends them flying or patting themselves to try putting out the fire that seems to never go out. The Lionness run to her, try to bite at her and get a face full of sword in their mouth. Moments later they would burst into flames and downgrade to a pile of ashes. Head shifts to the big lion in the room just sitting there staring at everything going on. Almost like it was observing the group as a whole. The slightly funny thing was that it was on engulfed in those blue flames, she was wondering what its next move would try to be. That was the one that she had to watch out for. She would also be watching for Ruri just in case she did want to come this way with the crazy speed she had. Eruda would be ready to catch if she had to. Like her own gemini, concentration on full blast with the cardinal struggling to interpret the sheer volume of her growing power. "I can hear them all~" Shiina remarks in almost a hysteria, as her eyes turn to a bright silver. "It looks like its time for the main event: Oriella!" Shiina casts a prism off to her left, gesturing to it and it springs to life and a somber tone joins the chaotic melody. "Join my Crescendo, Saphira~" Another stone cast to her right that becomes a rich blue color. "I can see it, I can see you Anna. I cry for you Novanna. The soul stream~" The girl shrieks with manic laughter as tears race down her cheek, as voices unseen join with their own rendition of the track. Those symbols breath to life one after another, establishing themselves on top of her own. "I'm coming Miki. I'll find you, don't you worry. The stars know, and I will be your wish." Some enemies collapse, others start to clutch their heads in pain and bleed from their nose. Armor shatters, weapons fracture. Her own party would see their skills sporadically fire off, refresh on their own and repeat that loop. Their weapons flicker into full charge, then drain out and back. As if everything was going haywire like a bulb about to go out. "Stop!" The room goes dark as the light is quenched under commands, the soundtrack drops into a bitter silence. In the dark the players would find their own HP and stamina bar distorted, transitioning and changing levels on their own. Her voice amplifies to extreme levels and is joined with multiple clearly not her own with their own twist, the ground beneath her feet cracking in veins of fractures that race toward the coliseum walls. He assumed it a potential threat, and yet finding only a dim set of white eyes and a song to greet him as his HUD started going haywire. "Shiina?" The man remarks as enemies start to drop to their knees in writhing agony, and the tremors under his feet left him with a faltering confidence. For how long has the girl been hiding something so potent, something so crushing? The swordsman looks to his blade, struggling to get his sword art to fire and take advantage of the situation. On auto pilot he starts to move without system guidance, but his skills fire off all their own and send him ripping into the largest foe. The blade cuts deeper then deep, with brutality that even he could hardly muster. The thing is shotput through the weight of the swing, carved in such a carnage that it was left utterly defenseless. He had numerous questions, but would allow inspection to answer them as his first concern was comforting Ruri.
