Crozeph entered Azide's shop and tapped at the desk "hey scientist I'd like to put something on our storage for safe keeping" he said "you can let other guild members borrow it" he said. Crozeph opened his inventory and and took out a gray armor, quite heavy but light enough for Crozeph to settle it on the desk "damn my STR is worse" he said. Crozeph patted the armor "I'll be leaving now, gotta gather a few materials" he said Crozeph walked out without even waiting for his guild leader to reply.

Azide looked up, hearing the familiar creak of the door, along with the sound of footsteps. He found himself graced with the presence of Crozeph, a fellow member of Square One, who seemed to be carrying around armor of some sort. He opened his mouth to say something, but before he knew it, Crozpeh had already walked out the door. Azide walked out in front of the shop and called out after him, thanking him for the donation, then stepped back inside. Curious, he lifted the armor up. "Light for metal armor, maybe." The thing was still quite substantial. He picked up equipment and carried it to the back room, where it was stored away inside of the chest containing the rest of the guild items.

"Oh universe, what do you have in store for me today? Another three failures, perhaps?" He entered the lab, pristine as always. But of course it was, it was Azide's, after all. He was never one to tolerate any possible contaminants in any chemical lab. Granted, this was technically a virtual one, so he wasn't sure if such contaminants could actually affect his results, but why would he take the chance? "Speaking of contaminants, I should really start asking people to wipe off their shoes before stepping in here," he thought. He brought out enough materials and glassware for three products, then began adding everything in their proper ratios before stirring them with a glass dowel. The first of the three mixtures shattered, but disappeared before any shards could hit either him or the two other solutions. The second turned a light blue color, which he noted as a semi-success and stored away in a vial. Finally, the last of the three was his greatest success yet. He picked up the green crystal that he'd synthesized, admiring its clarity and shape. "As if it'd been cut by a jeweler." Satisfied, he set it away with the other two crystals he'd managed. "Not bad, Nouel. Not bad."

Suddenly he still had time to finish up a few more errands in the lab, he mixed up another solution, attempting to mirror his previous success with the crystal. What he ended up with, however, was a rather asymmetrical and clouded crystal. It crumbled away in between his fingers. Shaking his head, he grabbed a clouded solution he'd set away the other day and attempted to salvage it and the crystal for any spare materials. After adding the appropriate reactants, he found success with the potion, but was unable to separate the crystal into its original constituents. "Ah well, I've done more than enough today either way."

"Back to the lab," thought Azide. "What will the universe grace me with today?" he wondered. He'd long since concluded that these crafting attempts were based on pure luck, rather than any actual skill or precision. "It's almost insulting compared to what I'd been doing in real life," he thought, thinking about the lab he'd been proud to be a part of back on the other side. In any case, he'd just have to make it work for him. Randomized results or not, he was sure there were ways to make the numbers work in his favor. He set aside enough supplies to synthesize four alchemical creations, attempting two crystals and two potions. After combining a bit of ground powder and and liquid in two separate flasks, he was satisfied with their passable quality. They weren't the greatest or most complex potions one could created here in Aincrad, but he was sure somebody out there would enjoy them, at least.

What really impressed him, however, was neither these potions nor the low-quality crystal he'd synthesized in addition to the aforementioned potions. Indeed, what gave him the most joy was the sight of yet another flawlessly synthesized crystal, which almost nearly seemed to glow. He picked it up gently and place it on the shelf next to his other successful crystals, then stored the two passable potions away in vials and stored them on the rack with the others. He set aside the clouded crystal, figuring he'd attempt to salvage something out of it later. "Another good day here at the lab," he thought.

A bit of grinding with a mortar and pestle, a few stirs with a glass dowel, and a bit of measuring here and there was all that it'd taken. Azide picked up the resulting crystal, which had been colored a translucent green. "It's nearly perfect," he thought. It was a marvelous success. Of course, the other three trials had each failed, but these failures merely paved the road for this fine product. He picked up his finished creation and held it up to his eye to inspect it, before placing it on the shelf with the others. "That makes... one minor crystal, two greater crystals, a flawless crystal, and a mass crystal. The collection is growing," he thought. "And yet, I don't have enough that I would want to sell any of these." He shook his head. "No, I think I'll give it a bit more time first." And with that, he cleaned up his messes and jotted down the results of the day's experiments in his notebook, then placed it carefully back on the shelf.

Azide set down the book he'd been reading, then shifted his eyes to the open notebook on his desk, skimming through the data quickly before shutting it. "I think I'm beginning to develop a better understanding towards this alchemic synthesis. It might not be nearly as predictable or manageable for as chemistry, but there must be a madness to it somewhere." He walked over to one of the countertops, where he'd already set out four flasks and the appropriate reactants for each. After dissolving the materials in the calculated quantities he'd jotted down in his notebook, he watched as two simply shattered momentarily, although by this point this no longer alarmed him. What interested him more, however, was that two of the solutions ended up crystalizing. He picked these crystals out tenderly, then held them up to the light. "Not the perfect. Not even close. But a good mark of progress," he thought. He set them on the shelf next to the other completed crystals, then cleaned up and recorded his observations for the day.

Repeating his daily routine, Azide woke up and prepared himself for the day. Or perhaps to be more specific, he first readied himself for a bit of lab work that he'd tend to before dealing with other matters. "Although I do love this place, I only have the capability of a few trials per day. When I come back later, however, I can at least do a little review through my notes this week." In the meantime, however, he'd prepared four solutions in front of him. One had failed, producing a small puff of smoke, but thankfully none of the more cinematic explosions he'd gotten used to. Another simply turned clouded, although it could possibly be salvaged later on. Another of the concoctions had been made to his satisfaction, and yet it was really nothing too impressive. No, what he'd been more than proud to have produced today was yet another one of his healing crystals. "This will do nicely," he thought as he picked up the green crystal with the tips of his fingers. He nodded with satisfaction, then placed it on the shelf next to the others before cleaning up and exiting the shop.

"Decent work today," thought Azide, looking at his creations. "Still, could be better. Much better, in fact." He looked at the potions he'd mixed together from powder and a liquid he'd stowed away in a corked flask. In two of the beakers were colorful potions that had a nice translucence and clarity to them, though they were nothing special. "Rather impotent, they are." Still, their quality would suffice. On the other hand, two of the other potions had clouded over. He shook his head, knowing that he shouldn't be making nearly as many mistakes at this stage. And yet, the crystal he'd managed to synthesize today nearly made up for these failures, and then some. He picked the crystal out of its beaker, the set it on the shelf with the other one's he'd succeeded in making.

More specifically, these were two crystals that he'd synthesized, and he felt a certain sense of pride in his work. 'Nothing compared to the limitless potential of chemistry, but alchemy has its moments as well, though the yield could always be better." From the looks of it, his ratios had added up today. He poured a potion he'd created into a vial and set it up on the rack along with the others, doing the same with the two crystals, before cleaning up.

The first of the trials had failed, leaving a bitter taste in the alchemist's mouth. "Hopefully in a figurative sense, and not a literal sense. The latter would be a bad sign with a profession like this, although perhaps it might be even worse for a chef. Whatever." In any case, he carried on, figuring he'd be able to do about four more today with his current schedule. The second beaker had mixed well, with the dissolved powder producing bright red color to the solution. He nodded his head, finding the result to be acceptable. Beyond these two, however, he was absolutely ecstatic with the results of his next three trials. All three went on to produce crystals of varying quality, but were crystals nonetheless. Despite his satisfaction with solutions, it was the crystals that he aimed toward perfecting, and his technique was slowly getting better. He grabbed all three, then set them on the shelf next to the others. "You'll all come in handy, soon."

Azide stepped into the lab and set up five beakers along with his usual assortment of reactants and materials, which themselves were a collection of ground powders and, crystals and all sorts of raw materials. "Call me superstitious, but I get the feeling today's going to be a good day," he thought, rubbing his gloved hands together. "Ever since I got this set of crafting gloves, everything's been running quite smoothly around here." It was true. Inventory was up, and by now he'd likely amassed the greatest supply of crystals in Aincrad. "But I still don't have enough," he thought. "Not for the long haul, anyway." There would still be some time before the next boss fight, but he could never be sure when his services might be called upon next. "I'm not going to risk it by marching in undersupplied. No way."

He set up each of his trials separately, then began to add his reactants in the recorded amounts he'd been calculating as of late, then stirred each concoctions one after another. The first crystallized, though it turned a light blue-ish color, rather than the standard green. "Must've been some impurities during the process," he thought. Nonetheless, the finished product would suffice. The next solution clouded over, a clear sign of failure. What he hadn't been expecting, however, was for the next three to exceed all expectations. "God, this is even better than yesterday's batch," he thought. Two of the crystals had come out flawless, and the last had come out well enough to be of use. He added all three to his shelf, then cleaned up for the day.

After washing all the glassware and packing away the alchemical constituents of his creations, he plucked the blue crystal from it's beaker using a pair of tweezers, the held it up to his eyes. "It didn't crystallize quite as finely as the three others I synthesized today. That's not to say that it's bad. It's not bad at all, actually, though its effects are likely considerably less potent. And yet, it reminds me of something." He scratched his head, then sighed. "I give up. It's probably nothing." He set the crystal next to his rack of potions, then set off for the day.

Azide opened the doors of the lab and stepped inside, then adjusted his gloves and jacket. "It's time to get to work." He walked over to one of the counters and picked one, seemingly at random, though there had to be a madness to it somewhere. From the drawers he removed an assortment of liquid and powdered materials, which he set next to the assortment of glassware already sitting atop his workstation. He walked over to his bookshelf and pulled out one of the alchemical reference texts he'd studied, the flipped to a page containing a page of notes he'd jotted down. From there, he began adding and mixing the reactants one by one, all while occasionally shifting his glance back to the book. Before long, he'd finished the process and pulled his glass dowel from the last beaker, then set it against a paper towel to dry off.

He couldn't help but smile like a complete fool, though he certainly tried his best to fight it off. Before his very eyes, five crystals sat in six beakers. Even better, three of these five were completely flawless, while another was just a hair away from that level of quality. True, one mixture hadn't managed to crystalize properly, but he was willing to take a minor hit like that. "Not bad, Nouel. Not bad at all." He plucked the crystals out one by one, admiring the way they felt in his hand before setting them on his shelf. "This is the feeling of success."

Stepping out from the back room, Azide made his way into the main lab and stood in front of the countertop he'd worked at the previous day. After quickly prepping his workstation, he promptly prepared five trials of crystal synthesis and waited for the results to manifest themselves. What he was left with, in the end, was five successful crystals of six. He nodded with satisfaction. "Although the quality isn't quite the flawless level achieved yesterday, I'm more than happy with these results. As long as I can keep my materials in stock, I'll be able to guarantee a steady output of crystals for quite a while." He plucked the crystals from their beakers, then set them on the shelf along with his others before cleaning up for the day.

As he finished his cleaning of the lab, he came upon a lower quality crystal he'd synthesized and set aside the other day, still sitting in its beaker. "Might as well try to decompose it into its original reactants and salvage what I put into this," he thought. Even if he'd only managed to recover a bit of the original material, it'd still easy the strain imposed by the lab's rampant material usage. "We're practically hemorrhaging materials here. The only thing that's been keeping me afloat is these constant material hunts." He poured in a clear liquid, then watched as it it dissolved the crystal. What was left was a sediment at the bottom, along with a layer off differently colored liquid floating below the liquid he'd just poured. After straining and separating all of the materials, he smiled. After everything had dried off, he'd be able to add these salvaged materials back to his stock. "Not bad at all," he muttered.

Azide entered the lab and set up the same setup he'd been using for quite some time now, pulling out all the flasks, beakers and vials he'd become so familiar with after all of this time. He prepped his materials, then carefully added them together in what he'd judged to be the appropriate proportions for what he'd been aiming to synthesize. It appeared his success would be a little lower today, with only a 33% crystallization rate. He sighed and extracted the crystals, then set them on the shelf with the others while adding his successful potions to vials. He placed them on the rack with the others before cleaning up for the day.

Once again, Azide had made his way out of the back room and into the comforts of his laboratory. He set up all of the glassware and materials required for six trials, then promptly got to running through each trial in as swift and efficient of a manner as possible. A while later, he'd fished out four crystals from the six beakers. One of the solutions had successfully become a potions, while another had become clouded and failed altogether He set the crystals onto his shelf with the others. "One flawless, one above average, and two basic quality crystals. Not bad for a day's work."

He began adding all of his reagents into the six beakers he'd set up, then mixed them carefully with the liquid he'd poured into each. From his six trials, four had resulted in successful crystallizations, just as the day before. Furthermore, even the quality proportions were equivalent. "Oddly consistent results for something usually so inconsistent," he thought. He plucked the crystals from their beakers one by one and began setting them on the shelf of successes, his eyes lingering on the sole blue crystal of the batch. "I'll be needing a few more of these," he thought.

"Almost forgot about you," said Azide, speaking to a somewhat cloudy solution sitting on the counter. "God, I should probably stop talking to the glassware," he thought. Walked over to the beaker and began adding catalysts along with a few other materials into the mix in an attempt to separate the mixture into its original constituents. What'd followed, however, was far less exciting. The added mixture had failed to displace the original solids used to concoct the potion, and therefore he found himself unable to salvage his original materials. "Ah well," he muttered, pouring the solution down the drain.
