[PP-F8] Hunting the Upper Floors, part duex (Tyger, Oikawa, Crozeph, Ariel, Raeyliff)

Crozeph saw that Tyger is trying to get it closer to the bridge for a better footing "damn, I can't afford to miss this time" he said. Crozeph saw that the others failed to hit it too, finally something that could keep itself together for a long span of time after all the hard-hitting members of the party tried to finish it off. Crozeph quickly ran from the root towards the bridge "this should make my aim more better" he said. Crozeph dashed forward and set his eyes on wounding its face "I can't let Tyger's howl go to waste again with my blunders" he thought as he quickly closes the distance between him and the Stalker. Crozeph raised his sword and swung it down but before he could land the blow, the wood where he's running suddenly snapped and a few planks where destroyed "wha..." Crozeph tried to hit the Stalker but he was already falling fast on the swamp and it was even deeper than he thought.

Raeyliff watched as Crozeph fell. "Shoot, I gotta go help him up.." he said. That was enough motivation. He grabbed his battle-axe, raised it, and charged. Running as fast as he could, he quickly used the momentum to swing his battle-axe and make contact with the swamp stalker, slashing its side and pushing it a meter away with the force of impact. Looking at Crozeph, he bent down and held out a hand. "Quickly, we don't have much time. Grab my hand and I'll pull you out." he said, glancing at Crozeph then at the stalker, who was starting to go back to where they were. He couldn't leave a team member here and in such a vulnerable position. Looking back at Oikawa, he nodded "Go!" he said.

Oikawa was surprised to see Ariel behind the creature as she struck it across the back. His failed attack proved to be a successful distraction, as she landed the first hit in several attempts. Retreating back a few steps, Oikawa watched as Baldur bolted through the air wielding his katana. His attack was stopped however by the dual wielding MoB. The clashed back and forth The creature holding off not only the attacks from Oikawa, Crozeph, and Raeyliff, but now Baldur. 

 

He is quite the opponent. Dual wielding...I wish that was a real skill... Shaking his thoughts he refocused on the fight just as Tyger begin to push creature towards the bridge to give us the upper hand. While Crozeph lunged in for his attack, the planking of the bridge proved to do the opposite for him as he went crashing into the swamp. Raeyliff didn't hesitate as he made a nice slash across the Stalker's body before nodding to Oikawa and helping Crozeph out of the swamp.

 

"I'll cover you two." Oikawa launched himself down the bridge and exploded off the wooden planks. He flew through the air and made contact with the Stalker. Sword ablaze, he clashed mid-air with the titan like MoB before being knocked away with a blow from one of the Stalker's other hands. Using his shield to take the brunt of the blow, Oikawa was sent crashing into the mound. Groaning he looked towards Ariel and pointed at the MoB as he struggled to catch his breath.

Ariel frowned, this guy appeared to be more of a challenge than she expected. After she saw Tyger release yet another howl gaining its aggro once again but was a bit disappointed to see others trying to get the mobs attention instead of only focusing on attacking it. The intention was fine but not during this type of fight "What can you do, we're still getting to know each other" she muttered while showing a small smile. She then saw Crozeph fell "But the terrain doesn't really help us either." she continued talking, more to herself than the others. her chain of thoughts was interrupted when Oikawa got knocked back and signaled her to go, she nodded to him before she dashed towards the mob, jumping from one root to another. She had one more root before reaching the mob but the last one was too fragile and collapsed under Ariel's weight. Kimba started roaring nervously from the platform as Ariel tried to swim in the murky water. "I hate this place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she shouted while swimming away from the mob and towards the nearest root/bridge.

Baldur couldn't believe how quickly their luck had turned. He stood frozen for a moment, completely amazed and frustrated at almost everyone's complete lack of being able to connect with the Stalker, but most of all his own. It wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for him falling in the water. The mob was not proving to be more than they could handle, but sooner or later someone would wear down. It was so CLOSE to being defeated, just a few more good hits should have wrecked it, but no one other than Tyger seemed to get through.

 

And the Crozeph went through the wood of the walkway and into the murk.

Raeyliff was a step ahead of him, chipping away at the Stalker and then helping his friend out of the water. Oikawa suddenly surged forward, attacking with such speed that Baldur was sure he would hit, but his attack was also rebuffed. Baldur could tell that Oikawa was frustrated, merely gesturing for Ariel to switch rather than the confident call he usually gave. Out of the corner of Baldur's eye, he saw the blonde dance gracefully from post to root trying to flank the creature. Such movements made him nervous, but she had been successful, and the bridge had not proved to be much more trustworthy. 

 

Her splash in the water was much more dramatic, and Baldur realized that the Crozeph and Ariel falling into the bog had disturbed the water a great deal.

 

"Careful!"

 

Baldur called out, he couldn't tell if that patch of grass and flowers had always been that close or not. Running to the side of the bridge, Baldur drove his katana into a thick, healthy looking piece of wood and held on tight with one hand, reaching out for Ariel with the other. Grabbing the small woman, he practically hauled her out of the water by main force, helping her easily up onto the bridge. With his view still facing the water, he saw what came before she did, but not what she saw happen to Crozeph.

 

That small, innocuous patch of grass surged forth from the water and long, wicked claws of a <<Bog Strider #2>> raked across Crozeph's form. Thankfully he brought a strong suit of armor. Baldur didn't see it, he heard only the sounds of battle behind him as he tore his Katana from the wood and moved directly into a parry motion. Ariel seemed to have a preternatural sense about her and dodged to the side away from the <<Bog Strider #3>> as its un-parried claw slashed through the spot she had just occupied.

 

"Adds!" Baldur called out, as if everyone didn't already know. "Tyger taunt!"

 

Those words haunted Baldur, but he could only hope they were the right ones.

Tyger couldn't see the whole situation like Baldur and the others could. All she could see was the Stalker in front of her as she did her best to keep it's attention for as long as possible. She watched turn by turn as those on her team flashed before her, or danced around in the corner of her field of vision. However, hardly anyone had actually hit the Stalker. Thankfully she'd stocked up enough hate on the stalker that she'd be fine for quite a few turns, as it was looking like that'd be the case. With all these misses and splashes she heard behind her... She didn't think much of it and kept her attentions on the stalker.

 

That is, until Baldur shouted. 

 

It was almost like her body and ears were programmed to hear him above all others, but she turned her head in enough time to see two more adds approaching. One had already attacked Crozeph, and the other was looking at Ariel. The creature had missed though. Knowing they were here made her nose wrinkle, and her heart pound. There were too many! If nobody was capable of hitting the stalker, there were too many for Tyger to deal with at once. Growling angrily to herself, Tyger removed herself from the Stalker, sure that if it didn't get defeated this turn it'd be coming after her once more. There was nothing anyone could do to rip it's attention from Tyger at this point. Instead, she headed towards the mob that was practically on Crozeph.

 

"Hey you big dummy, get away from him!"

 

Tyger snarled, striking her shield with a howling strike. She had this one's attention and the other as well. Though, in all honesty, she probably could've managed to let out a frustrated groan loud enough to get their attention too. Tanking was monotonous. At least she got to strike one thing.

Crozeph gasped for air as soon as he got out of the water, he's no swimmer and that only makes the situation harder for him. After a few seconds he saw Raeyliff stretching out his hand to help him. Crozeph tried moving closer when one of the Bog Strider attacked him. His armor took a lot of damage leaving only the force of the blow to endure. Crozeph gasped for breath at the attack. He wanted to take the armor off to breath comfortably but he can't, it'll only make things worse for him. Crozeph tried paddling using his hand and his sword and grabbed Raeyliff's hand and pulled him up. Crozeph began catching his breath as he lay on the bridge "that was close, thanks for the help" he said. Crozeph coughed after saying his thanks, he can breathe easily now and what's left is to attack the Stalker again, leave the Striders for now "cut the head off the snake, the body dies" he uttered. Crozeph dashed forward to the stalker leaving Raeyliff behind to follow his attack. Crozeph charged at full speed, if there were any planks to break he'll be fast enough to not fall down. Crozeph jumped and his sword raised above his head "this is for the trouble!" Crozeph crashed down on the Stalker successfully wounding its face this time. Crozeph then kicked its face pushing him back on the bridge and rolled back to Raeyliff's side "your turn" he said.

Catching his breath, Oikawa watched as new events unfolded. Ariel had gone for a swim in the murky swamp water, Baldur had rushed to save her and succeeded, however, two more creatures joined the fray and one attacked Crozeph. Tyger fortunately, found time between holding of the Stalker and barking orders to Howl. Gaining all the creatures attention. Oikawa stood up and waited for Raeyliff to move since it was his turn according to the formation. The boy never moved. He seemed to be lost in thought or maybe shocked from the sudden arrival of ADDS.

 

Getting a nice running start, Oikawa jumped back onto the bridge where the stalker seemed to have landed from Crozeph's assault. Oikawa made a bee line straight for the Mob. Letting his blade glow a faint crimson red, he lurched forward at an astounding speed. He left a nice red streak across the Stalker's chest. Appearing on the other side of it, Oikawa flicked his rapier and pointed to Ariel.

 

"Lets get rid of this wretched creature. It's nearly finished!"

Ariel was getting pissed by the events...she didn't plan on taking a swim and after being helped by Baldur to get on the bridge once again, she had little time to catch a breath as she heard a sound coming from her left and instinctively dodged to the right. When she looked at the place she formerly was she could see a sword stuck in the wood. Hastily getting up she thanked Baldur and assessed the battlefield, 2 more mobs made their way one attacking her and the other Crozeph. Luckily crow had been helped by Raeyliff and got a chance to counterattack the stalker, once she finished the assessment Ariel looked for a safer root to her initial target since the 2 new enemies were already agrroed by Tyger. 

 

She then started dashing, seeing Oikawa's signal. She chose more sturdy looking roots on which to jump and so, one by one she got closer to it and decided to hit it in the face. In that way she could have her vengeance, her last jump landed her on top of the mob after which she thrusted her rapier right under the mobs hood. Quickly extracting her rapier and evading the incoming blows she shouted to Baldur, once she landed on a root behind the stalker: "Finish it!"

Baldur let out a furious kiai as ducked under Tyger's fight with the newly arrived Bog Striders. Everyone had followed the plan beautifully when the adds showed up, and now it was his chance to get the last hit on the stupid MOB and it's stupidly high evasion! As he closed in on the creature his blade began to glow with a cyan light. Leaping from the decking, Baldur brought the blade straight up high above him and brought it down with all the strength and momentum he could summon.

 

"Hiyah!"

 

The blue blade light split the creature in two, and without letting his breath escape, Baldur didn't turn his gaze from it until a million polygons showered him from all around. Then he turned to face the adds.

 

Quickly pointing at <<Bog Strider #2>> which had attacked Crozeph just a moment ago, he called out. "Take that one out, just like the first!"

 

The one he had indicated took a swing at Tyger, and she was able to use her shield to deflect the blow, but that seemed to leave her open for the other, which had it's razor like claws rake down the back of her armor. The visual effect was more traumatic than the blow, however, as her health bar barely moved. A smile of pride tugged at the corner of his lip. She's so badass!

Tyger let herself breathe a bit as she faced off the smelly bog dwellers she'd been up and close with earlier. These things made her stomach curl and jump around in all sorts of ways it shouldn't have, but there wasn't much that could be done about that. She watched as Baldur streaked across her line of vision towards the Stalker that had hurt him in the first place. She couldn't see it, but she could hear the mob exploding. And, of course, she knew that that meant. The team was going to be beelining to destroy these two, but there was no way they'd be able to destroy both before they got a chance to attack. So, Tyger had a choice. Attack, use her sword, and attempt to do damage... or do the responsible, unfun thing.

 

"Arroooooo!"

 

She howled like a wolf, before erupting into a fit of giggles. It was so ridiculous, but she had to try it at least once.

 

"Do people really do stuff like that in the boss fights? It's ridiculously silly. I just can't."

 

The mobs would have increased hate, and that meant that the crits could fly, and here on out she'd be able to get a few attacks in, and maybe a last hit or two.

 

"Don't hold back now, there's nothing you can do to take their attention away now. Dumb sacks of sludge..."

Crozeph charged in to one of the Strider after hearing Tyger's howl, it was the signal he waited to attack. The other pesky mob they fought earlier has shattered leaving only the two hencmen it spawned. Crozeph jumped from the bridge and aimed his sword at the the head of the Strider "one down, two more to go" he thought. As Crozeph was about to stab it, his cloak got tangled on one of the supports of the bridge making his attack miss by a few inches above it. Crozeph swung from the edge of the bridge and then below it hitting his head on the planks "too careless" he said. Crozeph then heard a tearing sound and before he could look up to see what it was he already fell on the swamp again. Crozeph quickly emerged from the swamp, moss clinging on his shoulders and head "yeah a dip on the swamp is a change" he said as he looked at the mob in front of him "now come get some" he told them.

Oikawa observed the battlefield as he waited for his chance. The next few attacks from the group had went swimmingly. Ariel and Baldur quickly dispatched the <<Swamp Stalker>>, and Tyger successfully engaged the attention of the two remaining <<Bog Striders>>. Crozeph was up to attack and looked like he would get in a nice hi, however his luck seemed to run out once more as he took another dive into the swamp.

 

Save him ??? I should save him... But what If I miss my chance to attack. Are you really pondering this right now. yes its an intense battle but that is your comrade and your guildmate..You leave no one behind. Solidifying his thoughts, Oikawa began to move on pure instinct. Running to the bridge, he slid, much like a baseball player, and reached an arm out to Crozeph. Grasping him by the upper arm, he helped push him over the wooden planks of the bridge and eyed the <<Bog Strider>> closest to him.

 

Once Crozeph was safely on the bridge, Oikawa drew his rapier and ran towards the Strider. Jumping off the bridge., he zig-zagged along the roots until the MoB was in striking distance. He then lunged forward, and as if like a ghost, floated to the creature. Dishing out a few quick jabs, Oikawa kicked off the Strider and floated back to the bridge.

 

"I'm sick of these damned things. Let's finish this quickly y'all." He then eyed Ariel and gestured for her to make her mark. Oikawa watched as she began to make a move and spotted the all to familiar static emitting from the Strider. "Guys, things just got easier. That Strider will be paralyzed for a bit. Have at him!" He shouted with a confident devilish grin.

The fight was going well, with Baldur finishing the mob and the rest focusing on one of the other two lesser mobs. Ariel let out a chuckle when she heard Tyger's impression of a wolf being followed by the roaring of her companion. Next she saw Oikawa display his skills after rescuing his guildmate: "C'mon crow, you don't want those things clip your wings don't you?" she said half-expecting him to hear her. She then started running towards the same mob Oikawa attacked, it appeared to be paralyzed: "Excellent" she thought while making her way towards it. With her rapier ready, she thrusted its black blade, stabbing the wolf-like mob right above its left front leg leaving a deep wound that started getting redder by the second. Ariel let out a satisfied smile while gracefully landing somewhere behind it, next addressing Baldur: "Okay team leader, switch!"

Once again, Baldur tried rushing through the mix of the enemies. He saw that Oikawa had managed to proc his paralyzation ability, freezing the Strider in place. With a confident smile on his face, Baldur prepared to cleave the creature in two, but the other Bog Strider slashed at Tyger with both its claws as he was running past it. Spinning slightly, Baldur raised his Katana up to try and and deflect one of its sick, clawed hands, but the blow was more powerful than he expected and it sent him to the deck, disoriented.

 

He watched as the giant bog monster struck Tyger's shield with such strength it seemed to hurt itself, its attack breaking against her impenetrable defense, though the other clawed hand seemed to gain purchase on her, her HP bar moved less than its did. Baldur shook his head in shock. It had attacked her, and she did more damage to it than it to her.

 

That's my girl.

The weight of the Strider's claws as they hammered against her leonine shield made her arms sore. But, she had others counting on her. At least, that's what Tyger told herself. She knew that each and every one of her friends in the party had mitigation of their own, or armor of their own, but she wanted to put herself between them and the monsters, and let them get their attacks out. After all, every game needed tanks, or there wasn't much battle structure. Tyger had played DPS before, but never a tank. And, of course, in the game that her life depended on, she wanted to play a type that could help protect others. So, even as the claws raked against her side, causing her HP to drop (even if only by one point) she knew she'd made the right decision. Every HP that was taken from her team was a stab at her heart, and that wasn't anything Kayaba could target. That was just the way she was. 

 

The second stalker that attempted to attack her was hung up on her shield. The jutting lion head scratched the arm as it approached, and Tyger did her best to push it forward, as if to add insult to injury. This Stalker was healthier than the other stalker though, and the quicker they just had one mob to deal with, the better. So, with a snarl, Tyger jumped from the bridge and onto the roots next to the second Stalker as it sat and nursed it's wounds. Her sword held high, she drove it into the back of the Stalker with a growl. It let out a shrill sound before shaking itself free of Tyger's pin. The Stalker dashed to the side, away from the combat, until it was it's turn once more. It shied away from Tyger, but it still had to deal with everyone else. Hopefully the team would take out the other stalker, and then focus on the healthier one. Jumping back to the bridge, Tyger regained her composure and balance before her sword and shield were up once more, her eyes glaring intently at the Stalkers as they slowly approached.

Crozeph kept himself buried in the shallow part of the swamp near the Strider they're fighting. It seems that he has a hard time dealing a good amount of damage on the Bog Strider as he constantly misses his attacks with his rough sword skills he just taught himself after watching a few video game moves "now this one I learned on that guy" he thought as he slowly moved through the swamp. The others were busy fighting it and it seems that they dealt a good amount of damage to one of them weakening it. The swamp water tasted bad as he lay low while the Strider tried attacking Tyger but managed to deal only a few damage "way to go Tyger" he thought still moving slowly like a water snake in the swamp. After a few seconds Crozeph positioned himself behind the Strider while it's still busy on attacking Tyger who's got its full attention. Crozeph let out a sly smile before jumping from behind the Strider "guerilla tactics brother!" he yelled. Crozeph grabbed the neck of the Strider and buried his sword so deep that he had a hard time pulling it out causing for the Strider to flail its arms reaching for Crozeph "can't get you with slash? I'll get you with a stab" he said as he pulled out the sword and landed on the water again.

The group successfully connected on blows one after another. Save for Baldur and Raeyliff, everyone dealt damage this round. The Strider's HP dwindled at an alarmingly good pace. Oikawa was excited that they had so good fortune in damaging the MoB's. Hell even Tyger got in a nice hit as they continued to take down enemy after enemy. Following Crozeph's unconventional, though it seemed to fit him, neck stab on the Strider, Oikawa leaped forward and thrust his rapier straight through the Strider's throat, narrowly avoiding a vicious claw swipe as the MoB flailed frantically.

 

Landing on a nearby root, he watched as the creature dispersed into polygons, and the loot orb dropped near him. Reaching into the swamp, he collected the orb and quickly returned to the group. Handing the loot to Baldur he shouted. "Alright one down! One to go! Lets kill this thing!"

Ariel was satisfied with the groups fighting so far,true there were hits and misses but that meant fighting in an actual battle, things don't go always as you planned. With a little more practice they might come to be one of the raid groups...but there is still a long way 'til then. She was thinking all about this while running on the bridge, towards the mob that Tyger taunted, saying:"Good one Taiga, keep it right there." But as she ran, one of the bridge's tiles collapsed and Ariel lost all her momentum was lost as she slipped through the empty space. Now she was swinging below the bridge bareilly holding on another tile that seemed like it would break in any moment."A little help? I don't wanna go for a dip again. This terrain is really starting to piss em off."

Baldur raised himself up off the planks of the walk-way as Oikawa finished off one of the pair of <<Bog Striders>> and handed him the loot from the kill. He was glad to see they were getting lucky in that regard as well. The needed these things to drop as many mats and col as they could to bank-roll this run, but those were thoughts for another hour. Baldur glared at the mob before him. It was the last one and then they could move on out of the cursed section of bog. Baldur had something he needed to prove to himself as well.

 

Holding the blade up horizontally beside his face, it began to glow with the soft cyan light as the system took hold and let him <<charge>> the last of the striders. Bringing the blade sideways through the mob, he grinned with satisfaction as he finally saw the HP bar drop by his own doing.

 

The creature, however, would not give him the satisfaction of a counter-attack as it was so focused on Tyger. Once again the beast brought both its wicked fingers streaking at her with menace in its beady red eyes, and while she was able to deflect a good bit of damage due to her shield and armor, she still took a bit of damage. He was proud to see, however, that she dealt more back to it than she took.
