[PP-F8] Hunting the Upper Floors, part duex (Tyger, Oikawa, Crozeph, Ariel, Raeyliff)

Recommended Posts

Given the situation, Tyger figured it'd be best to just go ahead and dispatch the creature post-haste. There were no more reasons for Tyger to howl, unless another add showed up. And, of course, she prayed that didn't happen. If enemies could just wait their turn patiently, people wouldn't be dying in this game. Ariel landed with a splash when she missed her attack, and Tyger gritted her teeth. Taking us forever to beat these... I wonder if they're just too overlevelled... She wondered, holding her own with the strider. Baldur came in and landed a successful attack, and Tyger grinned warmly. At least he was getting somewhere! She was glad he wasn't missing as much, because he'd get home all frustrated about it. But, it gave him something to work on. And sometimes he just couldn't control it. The game wasn't easy that's for sure.

She knew it was her turn to sneak in an attack after the Bog Strider raked it's claws down her once more. Her shield gave it something to chew on though, and she figured an extra helping of dessert was in order. Swinging her sword, she slammed the blade into the side of the creature before jumping back, bringing the blade with her. The streak glew bright against the dark creature's side, and it brought a smirk to Tyger's face. Now she was getting somewhere.

Crozeph quickly climbed to a nearby root to rid himself of the moss and smell of the murky water "only ogres can appreciate this" he said. Crozeph watched as the others dealt blows on the last Strider not wasting every second "we're doing good, just a little more" Crozeph saw Tyger attacking the Strider and it made him think of something "a split second follow-up attack" he thought. Crozeph dashed through the root that serves as his platform for now, his sword pointed down ready to attack the Strider with his own fighting style. As soon as he saw the wound Tyger left on the Strider he ran faster than he could, probably faster than he ever did "ever heard of gladiators?" he said he nears the end of the root.

Crozeph jumped quickly and dashed even in the water with a few steps "now get back down!" he yelled. Crozeph slashed at the Bog Strider before his speed decrease and him sink down wounding the Strider creating a cross pattern on the side where Tyger buried her sword. Crozeph continued rolling after the attack, the momentum of his run hasn't decreased completely but it seems he dealt a critical blow on it as it begin to stagger.

(OOC: Don't think Ariel actually fell in, but continuity is a sham so I'll RP as if she had fallen in like in Tyger's post.)

Ariel and Crozeph seem to have the worst luck in this area. That's twice now for both of them. Lets go pull the water cat from the swamp. Holstering his rapier, Oikawa rushed down the rickety bridge. The bridge was now riddled with missing planks. This didn't stop Oikawa from rescuing a comrade. Finding a couple of solid steps, Oikawa gestured for Ariel to swim to him. Once she did, he grasped her by the arm and waist and pulled her up.

"Try to refrain from anymore murky swimming Crowned Lion" Smirking, he jumped off the bridge and somersaulted onto a root. This MoB is on it's last legs. Let's end it here. Raising his rapier, he darted from the root and ran along the trunk of the tree before leaping off towards the Strider. Cocking his arm back, he thrust his rapier right into the creature's shoulder. Gripping the blade with both hands, he pulled down on it leaving a trail of red glow marks as he slid down the Strider's arm.

The creature obviously didn't like that as it violently swung its injured appendage and shook Oikawa from its hide. Flying through the air, Oikawa luckily careened into the mound with a soft *thud*. Standing up, he gave the group a thumbs up to signify he was alright. Expecting a burst of polygons, he was quite surprised when the Strider remained standing. "What the hell!!! It lived?? With 1 freaking HP? Are you kidding me???"

Ariel tried to get up but the second tile snapped as well making her do another swan dive into in waters below."Just my luck," she said while being helped by Oikawa to get on the bridge and after seeing him spectacularly fail to kill the mob she decided to kill it herself, to blow off some steam from the 2 miss she had. She ignored Oikawa's raging frenzy as he left it with only 1 hp and decided to attack it with all her might to compensate for the last time. She started running, this time keeping a close look at where she stepped and when she was in front of the mob, stopping her advancement completely, she focused all the momentum she gained into her thrust. The targeted spot was the middle eye and she kept pushing even after hitting it dead on, helping herself by placing the bridge of her left hand on the rapier's pommel. The stab meet little resistance until the black tip of her blade could be seen exiting through the back of its head. Seconds later it exploded into polygons leaving behind only a crafting material: "That felt good" she said while gracefully sheathing her rapier and after picking up the loot she throwed it to Baldur. "Okay then what's out next move, team leader?" She then turned towards Oikawa, who was getting up after his last attack: "Don't worry you'll get it next time!"

Baldur took the loot that Ariel passed to him, amused at how quickly they were able to turn the battle around. They had been frustrated with that stalker, but but a few solid hits had turned what appeared to be an uphill battle into a much more manageable one. Several of them were dripping wet with the ugly green murky water of the swamp, but thankfully this floor was not cold. The thick, humid air this close to the swamp was almost pleasant, except for the smell and the way the muck clung to his clothes.

"Well done, everyone. I mean, except for the falling in the water part." He shook off some of his wet clothes, "But we handled the adds flawlessly."

Baldur was surprised when Raeyliff said that he needed to go. Maybe there was something else he needed to handle back in town, but a short moment later he was gone back towards the village they had just left. He should have no problem making it safely from here.

"Alright then, let's continue on, shall we?"

Baldur lead the small, rag-tag band of those he would now call his friends further into the jungle. Before long the walk-way they were on lifted back from from the swamp bottom and into the air, rising once more back into the trees. Higher and higher they went until they were walking through the tree tops and actually began to see some terrain around the very edges. As they crossed one last platform, the bridge suddenly became more robust. They probably could have walked 20 people shoulder to shoulder down this new brick boulevard that was held up by... Kayaba only knows.

bridge%20fantasy%20forest%20tree%20water

Fanciful metal railings lined the stone walkway and fancy, wrought metal arches crossed over them periodically with soft, yellow foxfire lights. The lights were becoming more necessary as it was getting into the darker hours of the afternoon.

At the end of the long bridge, however, was the giant towering tree of the 8th floor dungeon. It seemed to be labyrinthian castle shaped by the tree itself. Baldur couldn't tell if the dungeon was floating in the air, and its roots hung down to the swamp below, of it the castle was merely standing on the strength of the thousands upon thousands of massive roots below. This dungeon, more than any other, was extremely vertical rather than the massive stone structures before it, though the wood was just as hard. Striking it would only reveal that the tree was an <<Immortal Object>>. The trunk of the massive tree stretched all the way up to the base of the floor above.

Ahead of them, flanking the massive arched entryway were two giant <<Stone Sentinels>>. As they approached the half-way point down the bridge, the two carvings suddenly began to move and approached them at a surprising pace.

"Alright, here they come. Tyger, you're up!"

Tyger watched when Ariel landed the last hit, and smiled at the woman as they dispatched the last of the terrible bog creatures.

"Phew! I'm glad that's over!"

Tyger snickered, dipping her sword into the water to clean the greenish ooze that had collected on it. Her shield needed a scrub as well, but with all the thorny damage, ooze was caked inside the lion's mouth, so that'd need to be taken care of later. Gross. Baldur congratulated the group, and Tyger passed a round of fistbumps. When she got to Raeyliff, he bumped but then mentioned he had to go back. Tyger looked at Baldur. Maybe something happened? She couldn't remember if he owned a shop or not, but maybe something happened there. That, or maybe a PM that a friend was in trouble? Tyger wasn't about to call him out for it; this was an optional trip, after all.

"Alright bud, be safe. We're gonna keep going in."

When Baldur spoke about wet clothes, Tyger snorted.

"Might have to have you take off those soaking clothes at the door so you don't track water everywhere. I just mopped up after Icarus."

There was no sexual undertones or joking, she'd probably make him do that. She took her clean shop seriously. However, it was the last she'd mention of it as they continued through the floor. A long bridge led to an Immortal Object (which happened to be a tree) guarded by two large stone sentinels. Baldur let her know it was her turn, and she put a hand on her hip.

"Fun fun, making friends every day."

She pulled her sword from it's sheath and put on her shield. Time to go make friends. As the stone sentinels approached, Tyger slammed her shield against one of the long posts on the side of the bridge.

"Time to rock and roll!"

The Sentinels didn't appreciate her joke.

Crozeph wasn't even paying attention to where they are going, he just wanted to tag along and it seems he has nothing to regret by tagging along with them. Technically he was a solo player, even when the guild mark is floating above his head he was still going anywhere...alone. This ragtag group of players are doing just well and even with his unorthodox fighting skill and his erratic nature of doing things especially attacking mobs, Crozeph saw that they're about to reach two more mobs. Rock figures towering over them, two towering figures made out of stone "looks like this will be a hard battle" he said applying his habit of bad puns on things. Crozeph then saw Tyger approached the two and howled, she's got their attention now and it only mean one thing for Crozeph "let's get this started tiny" he said dashing forward while calling out to the Sentinels but it seems Tyger has their full attention "cripple it first so others can deal damage to it" he thought.

Crozeph closed the distance in a few seconds, he was agile as ever and that's what he's good at but he hopes that the tough exterior of the giants will not be his disadvantage "you need arms as strong as that of Ariel's to cut through it" he thought "but at least I've got to try" he added. Crozeph skidded beside the Sentinel and spun around wounding the heel of its left foot or whatever it is called. Crozeph managed to leave a wound on it making the Sentinel flinch. Crozeph jumped back after attacking but slipped at the platform landing on his back "I need to refine my skills more" he said as he stood up quickly

Baldur lead the group deeper into the forest. As the terrain transitioned seamlessly from one surrounding to the next. The next permanent surrounding chalked up to be a giant metal bridge topped with arches every few yards and lined with fancy metal railings. This bridge led to an enormous tree. One that rivaled the size of any natural world wonder back in the real world.

Two stony statue like creatures paced back and forth up ahead. They were clearly Mobs as indicated by the crystals above their head. Baldur called for Tyger to activate her howl. Once she did, Crozeph leaped into action, piercing the first <<Stone Sentinel>> with his blade. As soon as his attack concluded, Oikawa raced forward. As he neared the first Sentinel, he became so focused on making sure he placed himself in a position to hit the Mob, that he didn't notice a piece of railing sticking out in front him.

Running straight into it, he was knocked completely onto his back, forcing the wind straight out of his lungs. Clutching his chest, he inhaled sharp breaths of air. All he could do was wave towards the group to signify he was somewhat alright and for the next person to make their move.

Finally they were able to move on their journey through the 8th floor. Ariel tried to get close to her familiar but Kimba seemed to walk a few meters ahead of her, no matter how much she tried to get by her side Ariel was being left behind by her companion. "Yeah thanks alot pal, what happened to us sticking together?" she asked her with an annoyed voice as they reached a bridge. The familiar simply let out a couple of growls while turning her head at Ariel. "Fine do as you want!" she shouted at her familiar while checking the view ahead: "Wow, this place is like a clam with a pearl, ugly from the outside but hiding such a beauty within." the scene of the giant tree at the end of the bridge was breathtaking and a very pleasant change from the swamp they just came...although this part technically belonged to the swamp.

As they began crossing the bridge she tapped her foot heavily onto the tiles and looked around."At least this bridge won't break beneath our feet" she said with a optimistic tone. As they drew closer to the tree she could see 2 tall figures standing guard at each side, "Tiny fellas aren't they?" she muttered while examining them from top to bottom but as they closed in on them the statue-like giants came to life. Fortunately Baldur was ready for that possibility as she directed Tyger to taunt them. After that the routine they practice before was once more applied although Ariel let out a sigh when she saw Oikawa slam 'head-on' into the rail."Well at least crow got a clean hit....wait that's it!" she muttered again while she began running towards the mob they attacked.

Passing Crozeph she said in a breath "Thanks!" going straight at the mob, making a feint to the left and continued her way between the giant's legs, stopping behind fim and aiming at the exact spot Crozeph hit. Luckily it was visible enough and her aim didn't fail her, stabbing the mob in the exact spot she kept thrusting her black rapier until it reached halfway, then pulled it back and made her way towards the rest of the group. The giant appeared to be starting to lose his footing, looking like it would kneel on the wounded foot any minute. The blond turned around and made a head motion to Baldur pointing towards the giant.

Baldur crouched down as he prepared to <<charge>> the mob. Crow and Ariel had managed to put good cuts into it, and now it was his turn. As Baldur rocketed forward, closing the distance between them in a heartbeat, he brought his Katana in for a horizontal slash, but the <<Stone Sentinel>> brought up its arms and Baldur's sword his them with an ear splitting CLANG! as it reverberated off the creature's extra thick rocky armor. Baldur stumbled back, staggered by the parry and tried to get out of the way of whoever was next.

"Switch!" He called.

The first mob they had attacked, <<Stone Sentinel #1>> continued it's momentum after deflecting Baldur's attack and backhanded Tyger, shield and all.

The second mob swung, but the force of the first mobs attack meant that Tyger had been knocked just out of range of <<Stone Sentinel #2>>.

"Umph!"

Tyger was knocked back by the force of the Stone behemoth's attack and into one of the poles at the edge of the bridge. One look over the side made Tyger dizzy as she scrambled back into the fight, staring down both of the stone golems. Angrily, she gritted her teeth and slashed at the first one, who'd hit her, and raked her sword down his side. Thankfully, it hadn't made such an awful noise compared to Baldurs. Perhaps that was the punishment for missing or rolling low?

"Switch!"

She exclaimed, rather breathlessly as she continued taking the attacks for the team. The strider's weren't so bad, but these things were so large, and carried so much weight... a simple back hand had sent her a few feet back. Stupid rocks.

Crozeph moved in after hearing switch, it was now his turn. Crozeph dashed forward and aimed his sword at its feet again hoping to cripple it completely. Crozeph quickly slashed at back of its leg, fearing that his sword might not cut through the sentinel. Crozeph put all his strength, or what he thinks he has and slashed at the Sentinel, hoping to bury the sword or at least leave a lasting mark on it for other to hit but to his dismay it wasn't what he expected. Crozeph's sword bounced off the Sentinel after it met the stone exterior and creating a spark. Crozeph stumbled backwards, he invested all of his strength on that attack and it just bounced off...truly the weakness of an agile player "no more strength because of speed" he thought as he stood up.

Oikawa had finally regained a regular rhythm of breathing. Glancing up, he saw Tyger deal quite the blow to the first sentinel. This attack was followed by Crow's attempt, which ended with a not so favorable clang as his attack was repelled by the stone creatures natural defense. These things are just massive. Massive HP. Massive bodies. Massive attacks. Massive everything. We shouldn't lose hope now though. The battle has only just begun.

Standing up, Oikawa slowly trotted towards the Sentinels. Picking up speed, he darted back and forth, before choosing the first sentinel as his target. Jumping into the air, he deflected a large right hook from the Mob. His shield proved to be a great asset. Using the momentum from the creatures swing, Oikawa spun off its arm, and stabbed the rapier right into it's bicep, or at least where it's bicep would be.

Landing safely on the bridge, Oikawa retreated until he was back with the group. "Okay Ariel, you're up!"

Despite being stabbed in the foot the giant still maintained its footing. "I guess it wasn't deep enough" she thought while watching the others attack it. "This thing has a hard defense, I'll give them that"  she made a run for it and tried to hit the other foot but the mob didn't get tricked the second time and despite its size, evaded Ariel's strike by millimeters, and attempted a counter attack. Ariel leaped and rolled in the hope that its massive fist didn't hit her and her efforts proved fruitful as she didn't appear to get even a scratch. "We have to focus out strikes in one place or else we're never going to get through that stone skin!" she said to the rest of the group while getting on her feet.

Baldur watched closely and saw what Oikawa had done, and when it was his turn, he followed similar suit. Ariel was right, they needed to focus their attacks. Running directly behind Tyger as if he were going to charge her, he swerves out from behind her on the right at the last minute just as one of the Sentinels punches directly at her. Ducking under the blow Baldur stands up inside of the creatures guard and steps sideways, bringing his sword down on the inside of the mob's arm, attacking the bicep just as Oikawa had done, but this time his slash was built atop his friend's and the slash was able to part the rest of the arm from its body. The limb fell to the ground and shattered into a myriad of polygons, but the silent stone sentinel gave no roar of pain, or any indication it had been inconvenienced. Ducking under the arm as it struck at Tyger with that one, he watched as she easily avoided the blows from both of the sentinels.

"We've got this guys! Just keep at it. They're tough nuts to crack, but that just means more XP!"

The heavy arms of the sentinels pounded at her shield, threatening to dent the metal and break through. However, Tyger trusted her own craftsmanship, and managed to dodge the next two, damaging pounds, resulting in no damage. Smirking to herself, Tyger considered that a tanking win. As the group slowly widdled down the two sentinels, Tyger closed her eyes. She couldn't afford to miss this attack. The aura of concentration swirled around her, and she opened her eyes, ready to dash forward.

Her sword cut against the leg of the sentinel, and despite the HP falling, it emitted no sound of pain, just like when Baldur sliced an arm. Dang sentinels, you spooky.

Crozeph was already running around them when they kept on pounding on Tyger's shield "you're annoying me tiny" he told the Sentinel, his cold and calm eyes set on where Tyger inflicted a red gash. Attacking it at different place proved to be troublesome for them which means hitting it at the same spot like the others did will really help. Crozeph lunged, his sword raised enough to slash horizontally at the leg of the Sentinel making the wound on the leg grow deeper. Crozeph tried cutting further but failed, what he did was good but not enough, not to mention there's still another one of these towering mobs. Crozeph jumped back, signalling for the next player to attack the Sentinel.

Oikawa observed his companions as usual as they attacked. Ariel missed a chance to deal some damage. That's unlike her to miss. Ah well its bound to happen to everyone. Baldur, Tyger, and Crow all succeeded in their attempts to damage the creature.

Not even waiting for Crozeph's signal, Oikawa bounded down the bridge.  Like a flash of a camera, he darted and stepped about, barely being seen as he closed the distance between himself and Sentinel number one. Breaking stride, he lunged right for the point where Crozeph and the others had left a red digital gash in the Sentinels leg. While he did pierce the spot, the Sentinel's defense was just as strong as before, only allowing him to deal his normal damage output. Taking a few steps back he twiddled his rapier signifying the end of his attack.

Seeing the team attack one by one made Ariel feel more excited, they were doing pretty for a group that was formed randomly in a moments notice. That time when they first meet seemed like ages ago, since then they've been crossing suspended old bridges, killed some easy mobs, taken a swim in the murky waters...well that was only in her and Crozeph's case. Now they were about to take down their first medium-difficulty stone giant, she took a look at the first one. It appeared that it only needed 1 more hit to go down but Ariel didn't want to finish it so she charged towards the second one Shouting at Baldur: " I'll leave him to you. The other one gave me a mean look!"  once she was in front of him, she first jumped on the side rail then made another one towards the mob, aiming directly at its chest zone. But as expected, the rapier didn't sink too much into his skin so she quickly backed off before it had a chance to attack her.

Baldur smirked slightly when Ariel changed targets. He was wondering if he was going to get the last hit again. It didn't seem to matter how tough the mob was, how many ads there were, he seemed to be getting the lion's share of the last hits.

Too bad there isn't a bonus for it on anything other than bosses.

Gripping his katana firmly in both hands, Baldur ran for the <<Stone Sentinel>>. The creature's remaining arm launched at Baldur as he moved in, but he tumbled under the blow and came in low right were Oikawa and Crow had attacked it's leg. Slashing at the same spot they had as Baldur dove between it's legs, his katana firmly bit through the monstrous stone appendage and severed it. The unbalanced creature fell into the other, causing its attempted two-hand overhead smash on his girlfriend to fly astray and miss entirely. With a flick of his blade, Baldur smiled at the others.

Clever girl.
