  1. Alright, it sounds like there's some interest for a BIG Character Development OP Thread on Floor 4 at the Hot Springs by where I've got Mack's cabin set up IC.

So, once the current event is CONCLUDED then I will start that thread.

There will be TWO special events in conjunction with this thread.

    EVENT 1 - SWIMSUIT COMPETITION

If you wish to enter this competition within the thread you will NEED to submit an image of your character in a bathing suit to @Itzal, he will approve the image or tell you to try again.

Prior to the start of the thread, or at the same time as the thread starts, I will get the images from Itzal and post them in a POLL where you are permitted to vote. 1 vote PER PLAYER, not 1 vote PER CHARACTER.

The winner of the Poll will be the winner IC, and then we RP out the contest.

EVENT 2 - FAMILIAR COMBAT TOURNAMENT - KING OF THE HILL

This one is simple, sign up and your familiars will fight other familiars in a King of the Hill style tournament. The system for Familiar Combat will be very simple. Post 1 you roll for your familiar, Post 2 your opponent rolls for their familiar. Highest UNMODIFIED BD ROLL wins. Post three, winning familiar tosses losing familiar off the platform and into the water. Very simple. Last one standing wins.

If you want to sign up for the Familiar Combat Tournament, post in this thread.

  2. As the effects of the paralysis finally wore off the ginger headed giant planted the butt cap of his axe, Invictus, in the ground and used the weapon's haft to lever himself to his feet. Rolling his head around on his neck, the towering soldier scanned the field of battle and noted the changes. "Time flies when you're having fun," the bearded man spat, swinging his axe across his body to hold the weapon in both hands and consider his actions. With six Royal Guards standing around, in addition to Asterios, there was plenty to be getting on with, and the Vice Commander of the Knights of the Blood Oath knew that his job, typically, was to clear the trash mobs that had spawned in.

Tightening his grip on the two-handed bearded axe to a white-knuckled tightness, the viking-like fighter sprang forward and charged into motion towards the knot of Royal Guards that Asterios had spawned in. Wielding the weapon with what was entirely too much ease, Mack sent the blade scything through one of the soldiers, reducing it to pixels. Continuing his charge, he slammed a shoulder into a second minotaur, blasting the creature from its feet, before slamming the axe head into the bull man's chest. A third minotaur was grabbed by a handful of fur and rammed forcefully backward onto the business end of the weapon of a fourth Royal Guardsman and as that fourth, and final, Guard pulled its weapon free from his compatriot the heavy bearded head of Invictus buried itself in the fourth minotaur's head before being ripped savagely free.

    Spoiler

OOC: I am assuming that since: A. I was paralyzed, B. Shield's actions have created space for me, and C. I have yet to attack the Royal Guards that I can use a "Charge on them". If this is incorrect, each of them should get a +70 to their HP.

  3. OOC: Paralyzed.

As the Vice Commander of the Knights of the Blood Oath was tossed through the air the towering red-headed man managed to keep his fingers wrapped around the haft of Invictus. Slamming roughly to the ground Mack rolled over several times and kicked up a good bit of digital dust before rolling to a stop on and laying in the grass on the flat of his back, storm grey eyes turned towards the crystal blue sky of the heavens with his signature bearded axe clasped in his hands across his broad chest. Grumbling, the bearded man tried to sit up to push to his feet to launch an assault on the offending Minotaur, but he quickly discovered that his arms and legs were strangely unwilling to answer his beck and call. Groaning, Mack narrowed his eyes and peered at his player status window to see that he had been hit with both a bleeding and a paralyzing attack. He would be unable to move until the paralysis wore off. "Can't do anything until the paralysis wears off," Mack called as Shield interposed himself between Asterios and the red-head.

“Thank you,” Mack called over his shoulder as his eyes noticed the sudden replenishment of his health bar on the head’s up display. In front of him the mottled green goblins continued to wave their weapons about in as fierce a threatening display as they, likely, could muster. Given that the whole lot of them were nearly dead as it was, the threats from the goblins were somewhat lacking in the ferocity department. “Is that so,” the axe man rumbled, raising Invictus and triggering another savage flurry of blows that reduced the four goblins to free floating pixels. With the creature’s dispatched, the coloosal fighter knelt and began searching for any loot they might have dropped.

Meanwhile, Chewie found himself being lifted up into the air. Finally. Humans were awfully slow sometimes. Still, this one finally seemed to have gotten the message. Carries time came after eats time. Everyone knew that. Yawning, the bear buried his face in the healer’s neck, closed his eyes, and promptly went to sleep.

  5. Shouldering Invictus, the mammoth Vice Commander of the Knights of the Blood Oath stood from where he had knelt in the snow and regarded Grave for a moment, shrugging his shoulders. “We both know that you could have beat the snow beast all by yourself, so the only reason you asked me to come along in the first place was so I could show off and you could get some pointers,” Mack rumbled in a low tone falling into step with Grave as Chewie flung himself from the totem and began to scramble around on Grave’s shoulders to pester the chef for something to eat.

When Grave indicated that there was no time to waste Chewie issued a hearty woofing sound of agreement. The job was done. Now, there was food to be eaten. Promised food. Large and vast quantities of food. Really, just the most food. The grizzly cub firmly intended to eat until he could hold no more and had to be rolled out of the diner. He wanted more food than he could possibly imagine and, the problem was, that he could imagine an awful lot of food.

The towering axe man would have apologized to Anemone for further drenching her in mud, but really there were more important goblin-based things to be dealing with at the moment. Besides that, how was he supposed to know that the entrance to the dungeon ended in a colossal mud pit? Tightening his grip on Invictus, to make sure that he didn’t lose the axe or allow it to slip from his fingers in the slippery and muddy environment, the Vice Commander’s slate grey eyes remained focused upon the quartet of goblin spearmen that were facing him. As the goblins formed a pike wall the ginger giant flung himself forward, obviously not caring if the goblins stabbed him a few times in the process. After all, he was traveling with a more than capable healer and, besides that, he could easily dispatch the nasty little creatures before they could kill him. The glowing two-handed axe briefly lit up the cavern around them as it scythed a deadly path of destruction through the goblins, knocking each of the creatures down into the red zone on their health.

Chewie, still over burdened with a tummy full of berries rolled around in the mud in the general direction of Anemone before, finally, he fetched up against her legs. Wrapping his front paws around his belly, the bear rumbled and groaned and then held up his paws to Anemone again to be picked up. Why couldn’t this human figure out the drill already? Chewie had eaten, in rough terms, his own body weight in blackberries and other treats. Now, he needed to digest, which meant that someone needed to carry him around for several hours and who better than Anemone? Obviously, she wasn’t fighting, so her hands were free. Everyone knew that.

  7. When Samriel thumped him on the nose, Chewie scampered off even faster. Obviously, she wanted the bread that master had given. That bread was Chewie's treat, not anyone else's, and the cub was not about to share it with anyone else. Disappearing out of the tent, Chewie dove into the nearest drift of snow and vanished from sight beneath the powder, a steadily shrinking bread periscope marking his location within the drift until the bread was all gone. Then, like the Kool-Aid Man, the grizzly cub burst from the snow drift and gave Samriel a triumphant look. He had eaten all the bread and had not shared even so much as a crumb. Point to Chewie. That done, he scampered in her direction and settled back on his haunches before holding up both forepaws in an unmistakable demand to be carried. He would want to be carried until he no longer wanted to be carried, which would be when he spotted food.

"When have I ever given the impression that I'm not a gentleman," Mack asked, traipsing through the snow next to Samriel. "And I do have quite the set-up, as you'll see." The continued walking for a few moments, passing beyond the town's gates, before Samriel asked another question. "I mostly give gear and goods away to people anyway," the giant man said in answer to the question about locking up the shop. "If someone comes and takes something they obviously need it. Chewie gets pretty upset if they don't feed him before they take something, though."

Chewie made a hurt face up in the direction of Anemone as the woman stepped over him without bothering to pick him up. What kind of a deal was that, anyway? Clutching at his distended stomach with both paws, the cub turned his head in the woman's direction just in time to see her whoosh out of sight. Well, she wasn't going to get away that easily. After all, someone had to carry him. With a series of snuffling grunts, the grizzly cub rolled over to the hole in the ground and then tumbled out of sight down the mudslide. Faster and faster the cub zipped along until, with a colossal splat he thunked down into the mud flat on his back next to Anemone before repeating the paws up carry me gesture with an imploring face.

Mack wandered over to the hole that had appeared in the ground and was on the verge of shouting down to ask the newest member of the Knights of the Blood Oath if she was alright when the white haired woman called up that she was fine. "Here I come," the axe man called in a booming voice before taking a slight hop and plunging down the hole. Within a few seconds the ginger man emerged and landed in a couch and a spray of mud in all directions just as a foursome of goblins waving spears entered the cavern. With a growl, the Vice Commander charged towards the creatures and, completely ignoring their weapons as they impaled him, proceeded to lay waste to the mottled creatures.

  10. The Vice Commander picked himself up off of the ground after being bulldozed by Asterios, using the haft of Invictus as a sort of crutch to get back to his feet. Rolling his head around on his neck, and making sure that he kept himself positioned between the minotaurs and Raina while the low level player retreated the towering axe man narrowed his storm grey eyes as the Commander himself, Heathcliff, intervened against Nato and reduced the smallest of the three bosses to pixels. That was, at least, one less thing to worry about. Tightening his grip on the enormous axe, Mack waited for an opening to appear and then dashed into it. The Vice Commander slammed a heavy shoulder into the Field Commander, knocking the minion from his feet. Spinning past the minion, Mack whipped the business end of Invictus around his body and slammed it into Baran's midsection to knock down a solid piece of the middle bosses health. Turning to Asterios, Mack tomahawked Invictus over his head in a savage chopping attack, but Asterios managed to step to the side to avoid the attack.

Chewie's eyes got bigger and bigger as the cat lady described all of the different kinds of fishies he could eat. Even swordfish. Obviously, if someone ate swordfish they would be able to use a sword. Everyone knew that. If Chewie ate a swordfish then he could grow up to be big and strong, just like Dom the teacher of crude sign language! Plus, if he ate a swordfish and could use a sword then he could catch all the fishies, and share them with no one. Maybe the cat lady wasn't too bad. When she flopped on her back Chewie padded over to her and flopped, heavily, across her stomach before yawning loudly, closing his eyes, and falling asleep.

Meanwhile, Mack had his attention focused on the winged monkeys. Raising Invictus, the ginger giant snarled and charged forward, whipping the weapon through the air and through the necks of all the mobs, reducing them to pixels even as he completely ignored the damage they inflicted. Four points was hardly anything to worry about.

"What's wrong with taste drinking," the Vice Commander asked, quirking a red eyebrow at Anemone as he poked around in the dirt with the haft of Invictus and continued to turn up a goose egg in terms of finding something that would be both useful for and suitable to crafting. Meanwhile, there was a rumbling growl and Chewie came flying out of the blackberry brambles like the Kool-Aid Man. The bear waddled in the direction of Anemone and then collapsed, with his distended belly, over her feet and held up his front paws so she would know to pick him up and carry him. He had eaten his fill, for a few moments anyway, and now it was time for the odd furless creatures to serve as his means of conveyance and since his master clearly wasn't going to do that it left only one possible option.

"Nope, no Misses Mack," the ginger soldier said, quirking an eyebrow at Anemone again. She certainly seemed to be rather forward with such things. "Just a pair of sisters, both of whom are in here. You?"

"I once saw that little monster eat an entire dragon haunch," he continued in a careless and offhanded manner. "Then, he ran back to the buffet table for more. Honestly, I don't know where he puts it. Sometimes, I think it's broken programming or something," the Blacksmith continued, shrugging his broad shoulders as he probed the dirt with the haft of his weapon for a crafting material and turned up nothing.

"I'm always willing to try new beers, even if the actual alcoholic effect leaves a little to be desired when compared to the real thing," the Vice Commander rumbled, his grey eyes sweeping up to peer at his energy bar. It wouldn't be too much longer before the thing was replenished and then they could move on again. Though, they might have to forcibly remove Chewie from the blackberry bramble to do that. At the white haired woman's suggestion that they "could do something other than what they game would suggest..." they do the brawny axe man quirked a crimson eyebrow, but he decided to let the comment pass for the time being. A comment like that from Opal would have likely resulted in a somewhat lewd response, but that didn't seem to be the proper course of action for Anemone.

  14. Hearing his name, Chewie rocketed back out from his place by the forge heading in the direction of Samriel. She had said his name. This meant she was going to feed him. Obviously. Just as he passed beneath the table the grizzly tripped over his own feet and tumbled several times before coming to a stop against Samriel's legs with a solid thump. "Chewie, it's time to hunt up some materials," Mack rumbled. Swiping a finger in the air, the ginger man pulled up his inventory and retrieved a simple loaf of bread. He tossed it to Chewie and, before the bear could right himself and stand up, the loaf had thwacked the cub right between the eyes. Completely unperturbed by this, the cub snatched up the gluten filled treat in his jaws and scampered out of the tent.

"Well, it looks like Chewie agrees with me," the Blacksmith rumbled in a genial tone. "And give me some credit, I have a fully furnished guest room. If I didn't then I would sleep on the couch, a gentleman does not go where he is not invited," the giant said, his storm grey eyes flashing for just a moment as he brushed past Samriel and held open the tent flap. "Plus, the house has plenty of food and a few other nice things, and it's close enough to the hot springs on the fourth floor to not be too far of a walk after one has gone for a dip."

  15. Chewie huffed out a breath that sounded like a long suffering sigh as he looked from the blonde woman to his master. It was clear that he was now being ignored. Plus, no one had paid him in a delicious treat based way for finding Samriel and bringing her to the shop. Really, Chewie was pretty sure that was worth two treats right there, one for each of the performed tasks. With inflation and taxes that came to, roughly speaking, two infinites worth of treats. Honestly, everyone knew that. Slowly, Chewie trudged to his spot near the forge, shooting Samriel a very hurt and sad look as he walked off. She was obviously the better bet to feel guilty and give him more things to put in his stomach.

"I just finished crafting for the day, actually," the Blacksmith rumbled, crossing his arms over his broad chest. "I need to head out and do some material farming, I'll tag along on your quest," he continued, inviting himself along for wherever Samriel was headed off to. "Besides that, it's getting late and if you're going any kind of distance from town it will be night before you get back and it's easy to get lost on this floor in the dark. With all the snow everything looks the same." Pulling up his menu, Mack began equipping gear. "So, you can crash with me tonight. I have a spare room at my place, but it's a bit of a hike." The hulking man clapped his hands and Invictus appeared in them. Now that everything was decided, so far as he was concerned at least, they could be on their way.

Chewie splashed around in the shallows of the lake where his feet just barely reached the bottom. Every so often his head would disappear under the water to snap at a fish, but so far there had been no luck in catching one. The cub was growing more and more frustrated with his efforts. Magda could catch them, and she didn't even have any fur. Or claws. Or the right kind of teeth. If she could do it than so could he. There had to be some kind of secret to this magic practice of fish catching, and Chewie was determined to figure it out. Again and again he tried until, at last, his jaws snapped shut on the tail of a fish.

Slowly, the bear backed out of the lake, dragging his prize and being none too careful about where he stepped as he hauled out his catch. First one back paw landed on the turtle's head, driving it into the ground. Then the second followed it, pushing the turtle's head still further into the sand. Then both front paws until the turtle's head had all but disappeared into the sand as Chewie continued to drag his delicious prize up onto the bank with the clear intent of devouring it.

  17. At the words "fish" and "feed" and a phrase that basically meant as much as he wanted, Chewie abruptly settled back on his haunches and eyes the cat lady warily, doing his best to cock and eyebrow that the cub really didn't possess. He was skeptical that this woman, the non-feeder, could be trusted. But, he'd also bit her a few times now and knew she tasted like neither beef nor pork nor chicken nor fish nor even dragon. Disappointing. After a few seconds, as the winged monkeys came in which was something Chewie paid not the least bit of attention to, the cub held out his paw to Mestophales to shake.

Meanwhile, the Vice Commander of the Knights of the Blood Oath remained focused upon the winged monkeys that had appeared. The mobs made continual attempts to dive bomb the group to attack, but the flailing of the gigantic axe was proving to be enough to keep them outside of striking range for the time being. At the moment, they were at a stalemate, but the grey-eyed fighter was certain that it was only a matter of time. After all, it didn't take a genius to spot the fact that the monkeys had considerably smaller health bars than Mack did.

Now that the ants had been defeated, the path was clear. A tiny bear roar echoed around the clearing and a fuzzy brown missile shot past Mack and Anemone. Silly humans, they had not seen that the ants were standing in front of a large number of blackberry bushes. Chewie had not missed this fact. Chewie had noticed that first of all and now master had generously dealt with the obstacle between the bushes and Chewie. Sometimes, Master was useful to keep around, even if he was big and stupid. The grizzly cub dove head first into the blackberry bushes, his thick fur addressing the thorn problem, and was soon gorging himself to messy bloatation on berries, causing the bushes to sway threateningly.

"An energy restoration skill would be nice to have," the ginger man rumbled in response to the white haired woman's musings about the matter. In all honesty, it was a bit odd that such a skill didn't already exist since it, seemingly, did not cost support players any kind of energy to attempt healing. That just left wasted energy. The soldier jabbed the ground with his axe a few times until he heard a clunk, then stooped and retrieved a metallic item from the ground before adding it to his inventory as he considered Anemone's question.

"Oh, I hunt and forge weapons and armor. Drinking is never a bad pass time, and exploring floors for hidden and undiscovered corners doesn't really go amiss. But, there's not really that much room for hobbies within the game system, is there? I'm not a cook, so I can't brew up new beers. There's only so much reading material in the game's world too, and there's definitely not a computer terminal to sit down and game at," the axe man shrugged his broad shoulders as the blackberry brambles continued to shake and emit occasional grunting noises.

  20. The cookie bag never even hit the ground. The second it left Row's hands Chewie scampered forward, leaped into the air, and snared the bag in his jaws. Like a bolt of fuzzy lightning, the cub was off as fast as his legs would carry him. He shot beneath one of the heavy wooden display tables that was loaded down with equipment and quickly disappeared around one corner of the forge. Out of sight, out of mind. Besides, the pink haired girl that couldn't even pick him up to properly pet him had dropped the cookies. Everyone knew that when you dropped something it was no longer yours.

    Obviously.

That meant she didn't want the cookies. What it really meant was that she was giving all the cookies that were still in the sack to Chewie.

    Obviously.

From somewhere out of sight horrifying noises were heard and the occasional spray of crumbs shot into the air like Old Faithful and the cub guzzled down the sweets as fast as possible, lest anyone try to take them away from him or, worse, make him share them.
