  1. Seph listened and cast her glance aside, clicking her tongue and biting back her frustration. This really wasn’t her problem or about her. So she wasn’t sure why she was getting so upset, other than she felt for that stupid little girl waiting back at the cottage. Seph didn’t actually think her friend was stupid, but her hopefulness and sunshiney ways were sometimes too much for a realist like herself. Seph tried to remain objective and remind herself that this was about them. She kept her gaze away away and talking all the same. “Yeah, for a while, we did this a lot. Almost every day for eight months straight…” She kicked her foot against the rocks on the ground still avoiding making eye contact.

“But after a while she didn’t want to go as often. She said if wanted to find her, you would. She still worried though. I could tell. When we're be out in public places, she scans the area maybe hoping to catch a glimpse of your somewhere. She didn’t think I noticed and I wasn’t about to call her on it. We still go.. mostly I go. I can’t stand that looks she gets.”

She listened as he spoke, but she took all of his words with a grain of salt. Who knew what was true anymore. “I know she still cares about you. She loves you. Nevertheless, you know her… she makes the best of all things.”

Now that Persephone had him here, she wasn’t sure what to do. Should she drag his stupid ass to Mai? Was it even good for the girl to see him? Would she cry? What was the right thing to do?

“What do you want to do then? I can’t pretend I didn’t find you. Do you want to go see her?” She asked finally looking over at him waiting for him to decide what to do.

  2. “What?” Seph said uncovering her eyes, definitely not expecting a response. “IT WAS A RHETORICAL QUESTION, SIR!” She growled at the speaker rude enough to interrupt her temper tantrum.

The sun rays shining down through the trees blinded her momentarily and she blinked until speaker came into view and she sat up straight. Her eyes had to be deceiving her. They just had to be.

She saw the blue kimono first.

Lisa couldn’t forget it, the brilliant blue of the silken robes the shone like that of the wings of a morpho butterfly. He had reminded her as such as he gracefully finished off Avanache with his katana in hand. She looked up at his face, his dark hair just near hanging in his eyes looking at her with a near bemused expression. The look of him was entirely unmistakable even after all this time.

    Life.

“Oh you have got to be shitting me!” she clicked her tongue and shook her head as she stared in the face of the man had eluded her and her friend for so long. “We search for you for near a YEAR... and THIS... is where you show up?!?!?!?” She said swinging her arms wide gesturing to their surroundings. It was utterly ridiculous after all their efforts and fights and excursions that the thing they sought out ended up finding her instead. Seph was angry.

    No.

    Furious!

    Persephone was furious!

Without thinking the woman grabbed and handful of small rocks as she got to her feet. “WHERE…HAVE…YOU…” She snapped as she chucked a small rock at him in between her words. “BEEN!” She threw the rest of the stones at him. “Oh my God!” Lisa placed her hands over her face mentally counting down from ten and tried to breathe slowly to keep herself from pummeling Life with more pebbles.”This is okay… this is okay… this is okay…” She muttered to herself until she was ready. Calm once more, she took her slender hands from her face and stared at him choosing her words carefully. She wanted to shake him. To throttle his delicate neck and scream at him until her voice hand gone hoarse and she no longer had things to say. What could she say after all this time?

“She’s been so worried about you…” tumbled from her lips as she looked into Life’s eyes. "Maiyuri... she's been looking for you."

  3. Today Persephone was on her own. She left Mayuri’s little ass at home. The girl was tired. She did not have the stamina to keep up with Seph everyday and every few days required some down time. That’s when Seph would go on without her companion, scouting floors and mapping things out as to where they might go looking for Mai’s little lost friend.

Life was elusive. For two years they’d played this game of hide and go seek, and that bastard was winning. Persephone was convinced that he was dead, and Mai was not. He was still in her party list, and he showed up in there day after day even after all this time. It was why Mai hung on to hope. Seph didn’t understand the whole thing really. She didn’t understand why a girl could get hooked on just a guy. Men were often disappointing in Persephone’s experience, even in knowing this; it didn’t stop her from flirting with them.

Today’s excursion left back on floor seven. The mountain range was vast, and they’d only managed to cover less than half of the territory outside of Nimbus. Neither of the women was adept to mountain climbing and both were far from expert trackers. 99% of the time the only reason they ever made it back home every night was due to Mai’s ingenious idea. It didn’t matter where they were or were going; they marked their path insuring they would not get lost. And so here Seph was, with a ball of red thread, unraveling and tying it here and there as she made herself a little path through the mountainside.

The sun climbed high over head until it reached the apex on the mountain she climbed. It was noon, likely later and still Seph climbed along, trying to keep her footing down along the rocky terrain. Pebbles and dirt crumbled under her steps and broke away and rolled downhill as the ground got softer and softer, and it got harder and harder to climb. Persephone was above the tree line a good fifteen feet higher than the tallest treetops, with the ground slipping away beneath her feet until it gave way and she began crashing down. Down the steep face of the mountainside she slid crashing into rock and stone and soon there after bouncing off tree to tree unable to catch herself or find away to stop her wild decent until she found herself at the base of the mountains staring face up at the sky.

“FFF****CCCKKK” She screamed as she lay face up on the ground staring up at the cloudless sky above. She startled birds in the treetops and they flew away cawing in surprise.

Persephone lay on the ground awhile, her right arm extended over her face, blocking out the warm glow of sunshine that radiated down upon her. “What am I even doing with my life,” as she huffed and slammed her small hand against the ground beside her signaling momentary defeat. The woman did not want to get up. She was just going to lay there awhile and feel sorry for herself.

And that’s all there was to that.

  5. “ You keep the stinger… and any of the items. If there’s col though, we’ll split that. Deal?” she said. Things she didn’t necessarily need so much, but col was col and if they were going drinking, money was necessary. They reached the field of the queen, and just as before, there she was just buzzing around in all her glory. A giant wasp, at least 20 feet in length hovering off the ground in an endless loop going from one side to the next until he was activated.

“You ready?” Persephone asked the young man before getting her ass in gear.

“And that’s how it’s done. Now go ahead and give her a good whack while she’s unable to move. “ She said as she stepped back giving her companion room to strike. She readied her weapon once more getting into position so she could stun the monster again once it resumed movement. If they could keep this up, the mob would be dead in no time.

  6. “MURDERED?” Persephone gasped.

Murdered by a friend, someone Lowenthal trusted.  Lisa placed her hand on her heart as she felt it sinking inside her. She hated it. She hated herself. If she’d been there… if only she had been there! Maybe she could have stopped it. Maybe Lowenthal would be alive and well today. She shook her head knowing that even back then Lowe was a much higher level than she. Even if she had travelled with him all the while she still probably would not have been a strong enough healer or fighter to have kept him alive. Persephone knew she’d have been slain beside her friend, or worse, killed first so that Lowe would have to watch a friend die before he was taken as well.

Persephone ran a hand through her long curly hair and then looked over at her companion  who was also overcome with grief. She reached for him and gently placed her hand softly upon the crook of his elbow. “Thank you for sharing that with me,” She said before she drew in and placed her arm around his shoulders pulling him into a hug. Normally she wasn’t the sort to cling to a stranger in such a fashion but he was crying and she was upset as well and she just wanted them both to feel connected to something. After a moment she drew back and spoke to him once more.

“How did you know Lowe?” she asked him wondering how the two had met. Anything to share stories of the sweet man she knew.

  7. Jomei couldn’t look at her. His gaze cast everywhere but into her soft brown eyes and pretty face. That alone was sign enough that things were bad all over. But when he finally did meet her gaze he seemed hopeful, until she made mention of their friends. His lovely eyes gazed down into the ale before him and was he spoke she knew they were dead.

She pressed her elbows against the table and placed her face in her hands taking a long breath in and holding it for as long as she could. Lisa held her breath and she cried. She sobbed into her hands silently letting out the things she’d been holding in for so long. Tear fell for several minutes before she felt ready to compose herself again. With a long exhale she pulled her hands from her face and began wiping away her tears. These men were warriors. They would not want anyone to cry for them.

Looking over at Jomei, Seph smiled and rubbed at her eyes. “Those bad asses wouldn’t want anyone feeling sorry for them would they? So let’s not… let’s drink to them instead.” Raising her pint she knocked it back, chugging the amber liquid down in one fell swoop. Tonight she was going to pretend like this as the real world. She was going to drink heartily in remembrance of some really awesome guys and enjoy the company of the one still standing.  Setting down her empty mug, she looked over at Jomei and smiled brightly.

  8. “You know him,” her voice squeaked as her eyes widened and then softened as she beamed brightly. She knew Lowenthal and that meant that she could find him. Except…

It was then it had dawned on her that the young man was telling her that he was bringing Lowe flowers as a remembrance. “So… he…” she looked down at the sand in front of her. She fell silent as she felt it, the tears welling up in her chocolate brown eyes that bubbled up from the corners of her eyes and slide down her cheeks in big fat drops.

“He really is gone,” she finally managed as she began to sob uncontrollably wondering why now, after all this time she was crying so hard. She’d always had her suspicions, but she never absolutely knew it as the truth.  Lisa looked down at the lovely little flowers that sat between them and she reached her fingers out and gently stroked the petals.

“I knew him… not well… or long… but he was very special to me.” She began to dry off her cheeks with the back of her hands. “Do you… could you… tell me how he died?” Seph always had meant to find Lowenthal again. She just couldn’t face him after she’d run away from everything, and then it became easier to just stay away, but she had intended to come back and see him. He had been her first and truest friend in this strange world they now lived. She’d even begun to have feelings for him. Her heart felt heavy with the knowledge of his loss.

  9. Jomei hesitated.

He hesitated and he chuckled nervously. That along with the fact that he left things vague lead her to believe things also had not gone well for the fellow traveler. “I’m sorry…” she spoke as she reached for his hand and gently patted the back of it. She didn’t know what he had gone through but she understood and that was enough. “Still… you’re trying too right? I guess that’s all of us can do.” She offered as consolation and drew her hand back, picking up her ale once more.

“It’s always nice to have new friends. It’s good to see old ones too.” She sighed softly.  Supposing she’d never get the chance again and opened her HUD.

“ Jomei… there’s a lot of names missing from my list. People I know you knew too. They’re …” she paused. “They’re dead aren’t they. I mean people don’t just remove friends… not like a lot of them at once do they?”  Nervously, she reached for her hair and began to twirl a lock of it around her finger. “Lowenthal… Ssendom… Zelrius… they’re gone aren’t they?”

  10. A voice broke the white noises of the surf and ocean birds that flew in the sky above, and she glanced up over at the stranger, a handsome fellow with flowers in his hand. He asked her if she was there to watch the sunset and she smiled at him and nodded. “A friend used to live here, somewhere around there,” she pointed in the direction toward the trees where the surf shop was, now empty and abandoned. “This place reminds me of him, so I came here to be close to him.” She didn’t exactly know why she was divulging this information to someone she’d just met, but there was something familiar in him that made her feel comfortable. Like she’d known him from before, but Persephone had never seen him before in her life.

"I'm Ryo."  He said as he stretched his free hand out to her.

“Persephone,” she replied as she placed her hand in his and shook it.

“Would you like to join me? Pull up some sand and have a seat,” she offered as she slowly withdrew her hands from his, a gentle smile still painted across her pink lips.

  11. Lisa’s face lit up like a lightbulb as Jomei said he’d join her for a pint or two and bid her lead the way. “Thank you good sir,” she teased in jest as she turned on her heel and began to travel long the road they were walking up. It was a nice thing, after all this time, to see a familiar face. She had met Jomei at Zelruis’s costume party because of Lowenthal. Jomei had even been kind enough to help her quest the Sand Shark and he made a valiant and dashing display of swordsmanship and bravery that day. It had a lasting impression on the woman. She walked along half bouncing, still smiling so glad to be in good company. He was a very nice man to be sure.

They walked along making small talk about how lovely the floor was at this time of day and how much Persephone loved being in the area, and eventually made their way to one of Persephone’s watering holes. She asked Jomei to grab them a table and went off to fetch a few drinks. She found Jomei sitting in a corner by a window and came over to him carrying a large pitcher or ale and two pint glasses. She sat down and began to pour them both a drink.

“So…” she began, “Tell me what’s been going on. I’m afraid after we last met, I… well… I ran away, and I supposed I’ve been hiding ever since. I… uh… I can’t hide anymore though. So I’m back out here and trying again.”

It was such a weird thing to admit to an acquaintance, but there were so few people she knew around and he was such a good soul that he wouldn’t judge her too harshly for it. At least she hoped he wouldn’t. Sliding the pint on the table between her hands as she spoke, she eventually raised it to her lips and took a long swig of the amber liquid it contained. It was too bad alcohol had no effect upon them. She would have enjoyed a bit of a head change.

  12. The trio made their way to the cavern’s entrance which wasn’t too far a walk from where they had met the NPC. At the mouth of the cave, Persephone stopped and turned to the pair. “Before we go. There’s something I need to do.” Coming around the girl, Persephone opened up her inventory and removed her <Blood of Champions>> from her  inventory. She quickly pressed the crystal to the back of the girl’s neck and quickly put the device away. She waited as she watched the girl’s health counter go over the limit and smiled knowing it’d worked.

“There, now little misses, you’ll be able to hit those damn bats for more damage, and you should now have a hundred more hit points than you did.  This ought to keep you alive and fighting. The cave is dark, pitch black really, so our accuracy is going to be [censored] unless you have something to boost it or have night vision. Just take your time and stay spaced out so you don’t accidentally catch another player in the crossfire. Ya’ll ready?”

She smiled widely at the other two players.

“Alrighty then, let’s go do this [censored]!” Seph turned and walked off into the darkness.

(( Let me know if you wish to fight the bats singularly or rp both together as a mob))

    AT READY:

    3 Mass Healing Crystals (+15)

    4 Health Crystals (+15)

  13. Lisa walked through the shore line as water washed over her toes. She could sense the water gently lapping her skin as the tide lulled gently in and out on the pristine beach. It was a strange sensation. Real almost. She wondered if it was because the data input was so good or if it was because she could remember how walking along the beach actually felt. Maybe it was a little of both. Either way, it was nice to feel the ocean lapping at her fair skin once more and she was enjoying it.

Her long hair blew about in the breeze and Seph looked out over the water as the sun began to dip low in the sky. The sun was edging down the horizon just beginning to dip itself in the deep blue water painting the sky in fantastic oranges and reds. She stopped for a moment and marveled at the sky. It was simply breathtaking. Sitting down in the wet sand, Persephone brought her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around her knees just staring up at the sky above her head. A soft smile broke over her pink lips as she deeply breathed in the salty sea air.

And just for a moment, she felt like she was home again.

  14. Sotarou, as the young man was called, was most obliging and listened to what Persephone had to say. He sent her a request and she quickly accepted, and then turned around like she bide him do. Opening her inventory, she removed the <<Blood of Champions>> and touched the crystal to the back of the young man’s neck. As expected, his health bar increased over its regular limit. “ There…. You ought to be 100 hit points higher than you were, and be able to hit those mobs a little harder too,” she explained as she quickly put her crystal away and slapped the young man on his back.

“On to adventure!” she said as she turned and started heading toward the Queen’s field.

The young man had remarked that her helping others was indeed admirable. “I don’t know about all that,” she said. “I just want us all to make it back home, and if that means running interference for beginners, then I’ll do that. Being with me though, the Queen is going to be a little tougher, but with that boost I gave you, you should be alright. Not too much further now. “ remember, let me hit that bitch first and you follow, and if all goes well, we’ll celebrate with a drink on me in Urbus. Deal?” She said as she glanced over at her companion with a bright smile.

PERSEPHONE USES <<BLOOD OF CHAMPIONS>> ON SOTAROU

SOTAROU’S HEALTH BY +100 OVER HEALTH AND DAMAGE BY +2

  15. It seemed that when she called out to the gentleman, she caught him way off guard. He stumbled and fell right on his keester.  He looked up at her and she was able to get a good look at the stranger’s face. A bright smile passed over her lips as he began to speak and she launched herself straight for him, crashing into him as he stood. “YOU REMEBERED!” She squealed as she wrapped her arms around him tightly, “ I can’t believe I’m finally running into you, you crazy son of a bitch!”She withdrew from her embrace and just beamed, the corner of her eyes crinkling as she smiled just as widely as she could.

“Hi! How are you? What are you doing here? Where are you going? Have you been on the front all this time? “ She began to ramble off a series of questions that would make anyone’s head spin. Before she could get any answers however, she grabbed Jomei again and hugged him tightly, squealing with delight. Once, her friend’s list contained at least a dozen of so names, most of which disappeared after a time. Jomei was one of the few still left and she was happy to find him again. “It’d been nearly two years since last she’d seen him.

“Are you busy?” She asked as she stepped away again to look up at the handsome ginger man’s face, “Want to grab a drink? I would LOVE to catch up with you.” She said hoping he had at least a little while to spare for her.

  16. The young man who approached seemed friendly enough and so Persephone withdrew her hand from her blade and eased back. He inquired as to whether or not she was going after the Queen and Seph shook her head. “Been there, done that,” she replied, “But if you’re thinking of taking her on, I’ll give you a hand,” she agreed to his request of assistance. “I often patrol these areas looking for inexperienced players to help out with lower level quests so I’m glad I ran into you. Tha name’s Persephone,” The pretty brunette stood and dusted herself off before offering the young man her hand, “Nice to meet you.”

With introductions out of the way Seph began her game plan. “So I’m a healer. My skills aren’t very high but I also have crystals so if you don’t have any I can supply you with one to use in a pinch. I’m fairly useful for support as well. My Light Reaver is quite good at stunning my opponents so it’ll make it easier for you to hit things without worry of being attacked. Let me start first so I can have her attention on me instead of you, okay? Now send me a party request and then turn around so I can put an enhancement on you.” Although she liked to use her<<Blood of Champions>> on the newer players, she also liked to keep it under wraps so they didn’t exactly know how she’d boosted them.

  17. The pair seemed very eager for her assistance and gave up far too much telling information about themselves without even having been partied together. The man seemed like he might be alright with her in tow. He had a lot of attributes about him that would guarantee he would be alright. The girl on the other hand had a wee bit of mitigation but not much else. If they were going to do this, it would be she who needed Persephone’s help the most.

“ My name is Persephone,” She said introducing herself. “Now that we are all acquainted, let’s get this show on the road shall we? Whoever has lead… I’m assuming it’s you… ummm…” she said looking at the young man. He had said his name but she was never very good at remembering them.  “I’m going to need a party invite.”

Leading the way, Persephone started down the path toward the caves. “The darn bats are this way.” Last time she ran through this quest she had Dom with her and he crushed the bats no problem. If only he were still alive to handle business for her now.

  18. Persephone had taken it upon herself to traverse floor two daily looking for new players to help on their questing. She choose floor two because it was her home. Her adorable little house was tucked away in a nearby forest glen that was situated beside a small stream. It was picturesque and magical and it was because of this that Seph loved the level so much.

It was the second time today that Persephone had wandered down this particular road. Not that she minded much. The dirt paths through the forest were cheery and every so often a cute little thing would scurry across her path making for some interesting companions along her journey. It was quiet today on floor two. She supposed it was because they were getting ready for the big Halloween event that had taken place yearly since they were all trapped at the beginning. The sun was just beginning to dip below the treeline when Lisa thought it may be time to call it a day. Most new players knew better than to be wandering outside the safety of town at night, and she herself wasn’t very safe on her own either. Still, there was enough daylight to take the long way home, and tht path was prettiest when bathed under the light of the setting sun. Hanging a right down the fork before her, she began to make her way back to Urbus.

The soft mossy ground beneath her feet was painted in hues of pink and orange from the bit of sunlight streaming through the branches of the tall pines that surrounded her. It was pretty and always reminded her of the cathedral windows of the Catholic Church she lived near in the real world. A twig snapped and Seph jumped and looked about. It seemed she was not alone on her choosen road. A man was walking down the same way but yards ahead of her. She placed her hand on the hilt of her Light Reaver, just in case. The man ahead of her was tall. Very tall. He wore a green cloak with hood drawn up.

“Green cloak,” She said to herself, remembering something that she had long forgotten. She once knew a player who wore a green cloak. The only person she had ever met that did so. He also happened to be very tall. “There’s no way though…” she said. The man she would’ve been thinking of would have been on higher floors right now with all the frontliners. What could he possibly want in Urbus? Still, it wouldn’t hurt to try and see if it was really him.

Darting off into the trees, Persephone ran through the woods trying to get ahead of the man. He was ambling along at a leisurely pace, so it wasn’t too hard for her to do. Coming back up on the roadside, she hid herself behind a thick trunked spruce and peeked around the corner trying to get a glimpse of the gentleman’s face. From this angle she couldn’t quite get a good look, but for one second she though she saw him clearly enough to be sure.

“JOMEI!” She squeaked and popped out from behind the tree she’d been hiding behind.

“You are Jomei… aren’t you?” She second-guessed herself. Lisa was going to die of embarrassment if he was not who she thought the man was.

  19. Persephone had made it her business these days to help players that were just getting a start in building up their stats. She was not a very high level herself, but she was a lot better off than those she met and assisted. Today she found herself hanging around out by the NPC that triggered the “Let There Be Light” quest.

“Help me find my lost child….” The NPC implored her for the 20th time that morning.

“I will nice lady, I will…” she chuckled to herself and shook her head. She would just as soon as she found a party to help out to do it.

Eventually a pair came by and activated the quest. The guy looked like he would be alright, but the girl who tagged along with him didn’t have any gear save the basic starter equipment that the game provided. Lisa would feel r eally bad if that girl got herself killed out there so she walked over to the pair and offered them a smile.

“You two looking for assistance on this quest? I can heal and I’m not too bad a support, “she said politely hoping the two would take her up on the offer.

  20. It was another lazy day for Persephone. She lay beneath the tall shady pines on Floor two, not too far outside of Urbus, just watching the clouds roll by through the sky. Even thought it’d been many a year since she’d gotten stuck in Aincrad, she was always so amazed by how real everything seemed. It was all pretty amazing really.

The woman had recently acted as support for many a new player on easy quests, making use of her Blood of Champions. So far it had gone well as she had led many a successful mission. While she wasn’t earning experience, she was just glad that she was able to help others up along the way. That in itself was all she had wanted to do to begin with. Rasing a hand toward the sky, Seph shaded her eyes from the sunlight that peeked through the branches and shone down on her face. “Mmmm,” she sighed softly and smiled as the sun warmed her skin. It was a lovely, lovely day indeed.

Not too far off, there was a rustle of grass and she heard the padding of footsteps drawing near and she sat up , placing her hand upon Light Reaver’s hilt to be ready, just in case. “Good afternoon,” she called out politely as the stranger drew near. Normally, most people were friendly in these parts, but one could never be too careful.

  21. The match was completely uneven. Between the wimpy little snake and the slightly not too sucky Persephone, it was obvious who the winner of this little diversion would be. Seph saw her opening and charged the snake activating her attack once more. Light Reaver came down upon the snake’s ribcage for a critical strike again triggered her weapon’s paralysis. The snake froze as its health bar declined another small section of health. This wouldn’t be a fast battle considering Persephone’s attacks were so weak, but it would be proficient. Even if she couldn’t land a hit, the thorns on her shield would inflict some kind of damage on the serpent. All she need do was keep hacking away at the damn thing.

  22. The affects of Persephone’s stun wore off quickly as the snake was once more able to move and charged straight for the young woman. She swung her weapon, but the creature easily evaded her attack. She raised her shield, and Night’s Protection took the blow from the attack. Thorns rose upon the surface of her shield, and the Water Moccasin took a bit of damage from his attack. Although Persephone had been hit, her health was only marginally scathed, and there was little for her to worry about. The White Queen’s regeneration abilities would kick in upon her next attack and all would be well. There was nothing the snake could do to harm her.

Staring into the slit eyes of the Water moccasin, Lisa watched for any signs of movement. It’d been awhile since she’d bothered to fight anything, but already she was doing rather well. “Like riding a bicycle…” she chortled to herself as she smirked.
