  1. Another day, another possibility to find literally anything to do. Ryo opened his menu and navigated to his quest log. He grimaced at just how many quests he had done. He had completed a small handful of quests, which granted him a middling amount of experience. And the other handful he had done before had been changed from quests to field bosses. He had done a few notable ones to get some much needed skills, such as Survival to help him out on tougher floors. He figured he would start with the easier ones he could do by himself, at least before he started doing ones that would require multipl

The fish were biting it seemed. And he could feel something good about to happen, he usually had a knock for that. Clearing the rod and making sure it was still good he cast. Almost instantly there was a snag on the rod. Ryo gripped his rod and tugged it like he would any other fish he had been catching. However it surprised him when it actually began to fight against him. "Oh-ho shit?" He exclaimed
  3. Fishing Roll ID: 242041 CD: 12 (fish!) LD: 12 (chest?) Materials Fished: 4 Reeling in his previous availed naught but water and whatever algae existed underneath the water. A few moments were spent cleaning the hook and line, making sure that it was properly maintained and cleaned before casting again. The algae was somehow sticky, and smelled strange but didn't bother Ryo too much as he tossed it back into the lake. Tossing the bobber back out into the lake, he watched as the bobber hit the surface and began to, bob. Minutes passed as nothing too serious seemed to happen. A nibb
  4. Fishing Roll ID: 242041 CD: 3 (No fish!) LD: 7 Materials Fished: 4 Ryo cast his bobber out, eager for yet another bite. He was on a roll after all. Soon he'd be able to use as much fish as he'd want to start supplying his restaurant. Even though he was catching fish, they kept turning into general materials, which meant he could use them for anything really. A smile crept along his face, the idea of turning a fish into a suit of armor, or a weapon. Then he wondered, would he be able to find anything else by fishing? He remembered old cartoons often times rewarding those with boots, o
  5. Fishing Roll ID: 242040 CD: 10 (fish!) LD: 11 Materials Fished: 4 Ryo recast his rod, hoping for another bite. That surge of adrenaline, that need for the rod to vibrate in his hands. To feel something struggle like it did, and have that test of strength against it. More minutes went by, and soon that feeling of needing the next chase were subsided by his own thoughts again. The peace came, and his thoughts leveled out. Was this, what fishing was about? The sudden high of getting a catch followed by your mind clearing and settling. Just like the surface of the water. More minutes wen

  8. Fishing Roll ID: 242035 CD: 12 (fish!) LD: 8 Materials Fished: 1 Ryo took his rod and found an empty spot on the pier, and took a seat on one of the benches. Casting back into the water Ryo could already feel a difference. The bobber floated and he could see small shapes moving under the surface. He sat quietly, not wanting to disturb the fish anymore than he already had. Ryo took in a deep breath, and exhaled slowly. This was, relaxing? He didn't know how to put it into proper words, or properly explain it. But sitting here, alone was nice. No loud mobs attacking him, no NPCs shovin
  9. Fishing Roll ID: 242033 CD: 6 (No fish) LD: 14 Moving to the edge of the lake, Ryo checked his inventory and saw that a Beginner Rod had been added. Equipping it showed that it was, incredibly basic. A lightweight rod with barely any discernable features. Three rings to help guide the, string, what was it even called. And a spool with a handle, he thought this was called the reel. It was more plastic than metal and didn't seem very strong or durable. Ryo mimiced the action that Gill had done and found that the game had taken control of his body similar to using a sword art and allow
  10. Ryo laughed along with him, meeting the grip as best he could. Ryo matched the smile as his hand was released. “I’m honored that you would come to me for help. Since we’re now friends, I’ll let you in a little secret.” Ryo watched as the NPC reached into his pocket and produced a small tin, and then held it out to him. Bewildered as to what might be in the tin itself Ryo’s mind wandered. Could it be some sort of special bait, a golden coin for getting the biggest fish, or perhaps it was a hook fashioned from a rare metal. Ryo took the case from the NPC, and opened it only to be met with a tiny
  11. Following directions this time, the first time he’d ever actually looked at them, so he wouldn’t get lost, Ryo found himself on the well made dock. Alongside the dock were several benches angled out to the large lake, and a humble fishing shack. It most likely sold beginning rods and bait he pondered. As Ryo approached the shack, assuming the find the NPC inside, he was surprised by a voice by the lakes edge. “Ahoy! Looking to pick up Fishing friend?” The voice asked. Ryo nodded his head. “Yes sir I am.” Ryo said, stepping down from the dock to meet the man. The man towered over Ryo, his boots
  12. The first floor was a nice change of pace in comparison. He had spent far too much time on the fifth floor, and was getting tired of being assaulted by sand and harsh winds. He had heard about something called sub-professions, or something similar that would allow him to get extra stuff. As a kid, he was never one for gardening, and he never got the chance to fish properly. May as well give that a shot and see if it was his kind of thing. He was always interested in it, it seemed like it could be relaxing. Or incredibly boring. Regardless, it seemed like a good way to make some spare Col on th

  14. "Master Ryo." The samurai's eyes fluttered, barely acknowledging the words. He wanted to sleep. "Master Ryo." Louder this time words came, to take him from his slumber. He just wanted to keep dreaming. "Master Ryo, if you do not awaken and leave that bed this moment I will have no choice but to fetch the pail." A fierce shove finally jolted him from his dreams. His eyes half open Ryo looked up. "Oh, good morning Pennyworth." He said speaking through a yawn and giving him a smile. Pennyworth returned the smile, and spoke again. "Need I fetch the pail, sir? Again?" This caused Ryo to stir

  16. Ryo's boots dug into sand as he continued to run. "Carrying someone and running sucks!" He complained aloud, his feet kicking up more sand than usual. Ryo stopped in his tracks, leaning in on his tippy toes as a bandit tried to cut him off. In a panic, Ryo tossed the NPC into the air and then ducked under the bandits glaive before standing back up and catching the man. The NPC gave some complained mumbling, to which Ryo apologized for. Nym had to come in and intercept, giving Ryo ample time to escape the group. Ryo saw her hands move as she signed quickly at him. He gave a determined grin, and
  17. Make them fear? Would that work? Ryo watched as Acanthus lopped a bandits hand off and proceed to threaten him. Unsure of how to react, Ryo sheathed his blade and picked the NPC up. "C'mon, up you go." He said as he strained slightly as he lifted the man over his shoulders into a fireman's carry. Acanthus had cleared the one's closest to them, and he agreed with her. "I'll carry him. Acanthus, Nym." The two of them were much better at taking care of crowds than he was. He was used to going out with Teion, and with her giant axe she cleaved through enemies just the same. Ryo turned his face aro
  18. Ryo smirked at the woman. "And yet, here I am." He said meeting her jest. He broke eye contact and looked ahead and answered her next comment. "We rarely do." He said, more somber than before. The feeling was brief and gone in an instant. The city of Fortaleza was familiar to the samurai. It's market stalls and vendors a brief reminder of why he disliked this floor so much. He could only take having meats and spices shoved in his face so often before he contemplated drawing his blade against those NPC's. He let out a hearty sneeze as a blast of spice and sand kicked up in a wind gust and
  19. Ryo sheathed his blade. That group was done, and with any luck that'd be the last of the usurpers. He looked behind them to see Cassim still alive. Good. Last thing they needed was this breaking the quest. Looking back Ryo was just able to catch Nym's hands prompting her voice to appear in his head. He whipped around to face the south seeing more of them coming. There was going to be too many of them to keep up with, and he wasn't practiced enough with wide arcs. He had been building and practicing for single target for duels, and bosses. Acanthus had already moved into position, and he would
  20. Ryo nodded. "Yeah, a quest." He confirmed. He saw her wrap her arms around her legs, and suddenly Ryo was out of depth. He didn't know what to say or do, especially when she began to cry. He hated this. This, inability to just hit the thing that was causing the issue. The thing that was making his friend feel like this. But there was nothing he could do, nothing he could say. He couldn't imagine having someone so close then losing them over time. He couldn't fathom losing a family member. He couldn't believe a time where Teion and himself would grow apart. He couldn't do any of that. So w
  21. Ryo dusted off his hands. All they had to do was deliver Cassim back to his brother and and call it a day. Drinks were gonna be on him, or at least the first round was. Just as he was about to thank the bandit for doing buisness, his sixth sense went off at the same time as Nym’s. Ryos eyes narrowed as he grabbed Cassim by the collar and tossed him back a few feet into the sand behind them. As he did, the usurper bandit drove his blade through. Hands moved faster than mind and Ryo found himself gripping his Katana, ready to draw it. he watched the objective change. This wasn’t normally pa
  22. Ryo walked with his hands inside of his obi in a restful position. "Aha~, so such a combination isn't impossible." He said, nodding. A new goal had appeared in his mind. If it wasn't impossible, then he would work as hard as he could to achieve said item. "I've been planning on making a material run, but killing mobs over and over again kind of gets boring." He admitted. Ryo continued to follow the pair. At the conversation of paying for the mans release, Ryo thought about how much it could cost. And when closer inspection revealed that it would be 200k, Ryo flinched and looked dismayed. "Mayb
  23. Ryo felt the pats and snapped back to attention to look at her. She insisted that the front lines weren't fun, and that there were other cool quests. But that wasn't the point. It wasn't that he wanted to go to the front lines, he wanted to do them to help save people. He couldn't do that doing quests, or by traipsing around doing whatever. Ryo opened his mouth to argue his drunken point, but stopped himself. He could see the tears welling in her eyes, and he listened. His mouth quivered for a moment, his eyes nearly overflowing themselves. She began to cry, as she began to berate him for
  24. Ryo raised an arm arm to shield his eyes as the area around him went pitch black. Without wasting a moment, Ryo's eyes flashed his <Night Vision> activating. He tilted his head to the right narrowly avoid the missed attack meant for Freyd. The attack, whatever it was, fell harmlessly behind him. "They have ranged attacks!" Ryo called out. "Watch out for the cross-fire!" He said noting the still trapped portion of people. They'd be sitting ducks if this darkness didn't clear out soon. If they continued to hold the line as well as they did, the other players would soon all be out. And then
  25. Ryo's eyes sparkled upon the mention of a 'Cave of Wonders'. "Cave of Wonders." Ryo said thinking of what may be in said cave. Stacks of col, a mountain of rare items, a horde of demonic weaponry? Ryo shook his head free of the fantasy. "I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't hurting for money." He admitted. "But I know that what I need for the front lines, can't simply be bought. Or at the least cheaply. I need a weapon that's blessed with Holy, and possible that one enhancement that ignores somethings mitigation. Can't remember the name." He said tapping his chin. Upon entering the tavern it w
