  1.                      Krysta would remember this, that Freyd had to be prodded to admit that he had tracking. Something wasn't right, but the more pressing matters had to come first.

When Freyd asked what the plan of action was, Krysta inhaled softly, then exhaled slowly. "They seem to have green cursors, so clashing with them directly would not be the best idea to begin with. On top of that, we have only seen three of their members, and there's no guarantee that the rest are unwilling to heed the voice of reason." Krysta noted. "It is not likely, but nor is it impossible." Freyd warned that reason would most likely end poorly. "And thus we must prepare for the worst, yet hope for the best." Krysta replied. Vigilon would proceed to add his own thoughts, while also suggesting a potential battle plan that might be of use, should these Knights of Cinnabar truly not heed the voice of reason in general. A battle plan that involved picking off the monsters little by little until there were too few of them to be any real threat to the frontlines, if not wipe out the captured monsters entirely. It was a fair battle plan, though there was but one variable, and that variable was number. No one in the party knew how many of these monsters had been captured by these individuals, so while the plan was good, there was a potential flaw in it. "I shall keep this in mind, as a combative contingency for if there truly is no reasoning with them. Thank you for your input, Vigilon." Krysta acknowledged.

It was not long before Vigilon would catch wind of a voice in the air. He then proceeded to press on ahead, and when Krysta followed, she would find that indeed, there were more Cinnabar Players, with not one, but two stone boxes in tow, most likely holding monsters within. Unfortunately, Vigilon's attempt at conversation was subpar at best, and aggressive at worst. Perhaps Krysta should be the one to attempt the next encounter's conversation. Krysta could only nod her head in agreement when Vigilon remarked about the second member's...apparent incompetence. He also turned out to be rather slothful, and released the monsters against his ally's wishes. This would have a rather inconclusive result, in Krysta's mind, so now it was back to monster slaying. She took position, and her weapon glowed, her sword art ready to strike. The serpentine fire elemental managed to avoid the attack, but the lion shaped one was not spared from Krysta's blade.

  2.                          Unfortunately, Vigilon did not have the ability to track the target player, and Freyd, whose capabilities were currently not fully known, seemed too disinterested to offer proper help, and instead spoke his perceived time limit instead. Vigilon would then give his suggestion for what to do next. There truly was little the players could do in terms of tracking this player if Krysta's allies could not, or would not, help. Krysta had made the mistake of assuming there was a player who had it, who was also willing to use it. "...It seems like we do not have a choice here...we shall continue to take the original path for now, but please try to keep your eyes and ears out for anything suspicious, if you could." Krysta decided. If the path was closed off enough, any Cinnabar players who had advanced further than the pair the party intercepted earlier may find themselves coming into view of the party...hopefully.

  3.                 Oh, if only things were simple, the players would have stopped wasting their time and continued the impromptu investigation, it would surely take them along the path towards the boss room, given current implications, leaving enough time for the players to make a beeline for the raid once it was finished.

But alas, Freyd began to show a different side of himself with the response he'd given to Krysta.

“Please reserve your moral indignations, Reprehensible? Maybe. But these are also the harsh realities of war.  Look around, princess, because that is our life here."

             "..."

       "Princess."

There were a few individuals who called her this in a derogatory manner...and only one who Krysta had recurring encounters with.

"Cry about it, won't you, Princess? Wake up, this is the reality. Humanity is despicable, we kill each other for all kinds of senseless reasons. You might think hope is everywhere, like it's all some kind of fairytale...but I know for a fact that it's not."

Her eyes were close to being lit with a spark, and her sword hand started shaking. She was used to hearing such things from an enemy, not an ally. "Why don't you heed your own words, and notice that you're speaking no differently than enemies I have faced." Krysta warned, her tone just as stern as before.

Vigilon would remark that Freyd's words were coming across as toxic, and an unidentified player agreed with him. It turned out to be another Cinnabar Player who had apparently been eavesdropping, though for how long remained unknown. He then pointed a finger towards Freyd, claiming that individuals like him are the reason they detest the Frontliners. He would proceed to give his current opinion of the player that now stood accused. He also noted Krysta's concern and how Freyd seemingly sought to tear it down, be it for differing priorities, or, in the off chance he was actually correct, personal gain and indifference to the welfare of others. He then proceeded to make a claim based on the word of a stealth player, who Vigilon managed to correctly identify as Dazia. Figures, it would be she who spreads such an ill rumor about the Frontliners. Vigilon and this player would proceed to have a civil discussion, which, Krysta was happy to witness, meaning that perhaps not all of the players among Cinnabar's Ranks were fools and ruffians, even if their beliefs and views were askew.

So far, Krysta couldn't tell if he was telling a flawed viewpoint, or attempting to sow the seeds of doubt. "Perhaps it is too early to tell for the moment." Krysta began, taking Vigilon's place in the discussion, for his sake. "True, there is a chance...but orders are orders, I am incapable of changing the current course of action, but if you'd like, I might be willing to reveal your perspectives to those above me." The Cinnabar Player responded. Krysta gave a slight nod of her head. "You seem a decent fellow, I'd hate if someone had to kill you." Krysta remarked. "And you a decent lady, I'd hate to die."

Some seconds of awkward silence later, the conversation continued. "The others are not likely to listen to me if you continue to interfere, you know." The Cinnabar Player began. "If you let us be, they might be more willing to listen, and I'll let them know of the fresh additions to the Frontlines, that perhaps some new perspectives may cause some change, perhaps?"

Krysta doubted that he would successfully keep his word, seeing that his guild and Krysta's party were now adversaries. "I cannot guarantee the safety of my allies. If you cannot call off this 'Operation Pompeii', we will proceed with our current course of action." Krysta revealed. "Oh, dear me, where are our manners, here we are, having a civil conversation, and we have yet to even introduce ourselves...As Vigilon mentioned, my username is Krysta. Now, may I trouble you for yours?"

The Cinnabar Player appeared hesitant, but he seemed willing to oblige in this pleasantry. "...Alvion."
Some more seconds of awkward silence passed. "I understand if you're willing to undertake your current course of action. No doubt, you see us as the bad guys. But if that's how you see us..." Alvion would point towards Freyd once more. "Just keep in mind that he is at least a dozen, if not a hundred times worse." He said before he took his leave with haste. Krysta held her arms out to prevent immediate chase.

Once seven seconds passed, Krysta would speak. "Let him run. If any of us know how to track, we know what he looks like and we know his username. If we can follow his trail, he may lead us to more of those stone boxes, their captured monsters trapped inside." Krysta stated.

Alvion's words would fall on deaf ears based on how it appeared, but Krysta had taken his opinions of Freyd with salt, given how he seemed to be approaching thin ice.

  4.           The battle was won, but now there was a pressing matter to discuss. Freyd suggested ignoring the matter entirely in favor of not leaving anyone waiting. This would surely have moral consequences to leave this to someone else. "Why are you suggesting this with utter nonchalance?" Krysta questioned. "Absolutely not. We cannot simply ignore the potential dangers this situation poses. Leaving this to the more downtrodden players is reprehensible!" She stated, the tone of her voice being rather stern. If someone with less stats or luck were to happen upon this situation, they would surely die. Krysta could not allow this.

There was no time like the present, so it was time to discuss what the players knew about the scenario, and then decide from there of how to proceed. "So they happen to have something against the frontlines and are capturing monsters for a particular purpose. Given the battle we just won, I have reason to believe what they are planning may be malevolent. Vigilon, did you and Freyd truly recall a previous encounter with them? Is there anything either of you may know that can help us figure out what it is that they are planning?" Krysta asked.

  5.                   True to Krysta's word, it would seem as though this battle was proceeding with haste, in the party's favor. Each player's weapon struck mercilessly against the creature of flame, tearing it apart regardless of logic. The party should be able to finish this just as swiftly, with enough time to process and discuss the scenario afterward before pushing onward to whatever comes next. As helpless as the creature now was, this was no time to ease up, only put it out of its anguished misery. Krysta's blade shone with a brilliant light as she readied up another sword art, and Holy Energy coursed through the blade and into the enemy as she unleashed her attack with full force. The monster let out another shriek, form the impact and power of the attack and the holy energy that damaged it further.

"Morningstar! Freyd! Finish it quickly!" She called out, for the opponent was now significantly weakened and weary from its wounds.

  6.              It was apparent that Freyd and Vigilon had an encounter with these "Knights of Cinnabar" before, though there seemed to be implications that they were not a friendly faction. The responses from the two members not only showed that they were hiding something, as could be noticed by the first one's vague answer to Morningstar's question, alongside a claim of "classified information" that was clearly used to deny further answers, but there was also how they trailed off at the realization of the party's current affiliation in the situation.
Before Krysta could ask them what they thought of the Frontliners, the sound of the stone box having been tipped over reached the ears of everyone present. The second one proceeded to change expression in a way that brought suspicion into Krysta's mind, and make his way over to the box, claiming that the box wouldn't open that way. After removing the latch rod and flipping the lid's locks away from the box proper, Krysta stepped back, expecting an immediate response from what was inside. When Fire leaked out of the box, she leaned towards the box slightly, only to be jumped when the monster inside broke free of the box with a burning hatred, taking the form of a bird of prey made seemingly of flame.

The two Cinnabar players would flee the scene, the second one calling the party "Frontliner Scum" as he left the party to face the agitated beast. Krysta drew her sword as Vigilon observed that the party would have to slay the monster before they could push onward. "Then let us make this quick while we still can." Krysta decided. Her weapon glowed with a celestial light as she advanced towards the monster. Holy Energy arced from her blade and onto the fiery creature as her attack struck with full force. The monster screeched, and quickly turned its burning gaze towards Krysta.

  7.                               Krysta was confused by Freyd's remark regarding aftershaves. "Hva...?(What...?)" Despite her word being in her homeland's tongue, the Cardinal would translate it for those who heard.

From what Freyd had mentioned, there was indeed an outlined path to follow, so as long as the party did not steer clear of it, they would be fine. Krysta would frequently check her map and compare it to the outlined path to make sure the players weren't unwittingly going astray. After some time, it was feeling far too quiet, and Krysta considered sparking up some conversation to lighten the mood, but before she could, she heard Vigilon call for the party to wait.

Before Krysta could speak, he was off in a flash, heading over to the source of the sound that Krysta originally could have sworn was just her imagination playing tricks on her. Krysta was willing to wait, but now she was in position to act at the slightest change, whether it be in the sounds, a sudden movement, or in Vigilon's HP, displayed under her own.

         "Crap!!!"

"I knew it." Krysta thought. "He's gone and gotten himself into trouble again."
She drew her blade, ready to handle this new development at the slightest sign of aggression. "Vigilon is in trouble, we must make haste to his aid!" She commanded.

When Krysta arrived on the scene, Vigilon appeared to be speaking with two individuals. Specifically, they were players with green cursors, one with light armor, and the other having cloth armor. Their armors also seemed to have similar style, and had what appeared to be a guild emblem upon said armors, suggesting they were part of some guild or other unified outfit. Vigilon then admitted to them that he was with a party. Ah, so he was hoping to prevent any suspicion upon himself...Krysta couldn't blame him for that, regardless of these two players' intentions. Speaking of which...

Krysta looked to the two players, her blade lowered, but still drawn. "Who might you two be? Specifically, who are you with? Those emblems upon your attire, are you from a guild, perchance?" She asked.
The two players would take a stance, standing tall and firm, while their arms did the equivalent of an inverted dab.
"We are the Knights of Cinnabar, the future of Aincrad's playerbase rests on our shoulders! The expansion of the Land and territory we travel on is within our objective!" One declared. A nearby stone box shook violently, as something inside cried out in anguish. Krysta's eyes narrowed slightly, apprehension within. "And what is it you have in that box there?"
Three seconds of awkward silence passed. This was becoming rather suspicious. "A delivery...for some NPCs..." The second player claimed.
Krysta would remain silent for a few minutes, to allow the other players to ask any questions, if they had any.

  8.       Krysta couldn't keep herself from smiling over Vigilon's gesture. If only he knew... Krysta brought her hand nearly over her mouth. "Ehehehehe, you don't necessarily need do that, Vigilon...but I appreciate your kind gesture. Thank you."

The players revealed their builds, and their roles in the party would settle in. There seemed to be enough balance to keep everyone alive, and if things began to look grim, there were crystals for healing and teleportation that should be able to help. Freyd wondered why the players seemed to be anticipating trouble, and Vigilon would answer with the explanation of his downtrodden luck. Given the track record of every time the two players had been together outside the safe zone, there was little evidence to disprove his claim. The Princess had a solemn expression upon her face. "I'm afraid what he says is true, Vigilon has no shortage of enemies, including ones that will make war against him upon sight, even monsters with a neutral temperament have had hostile reactions to his presence from time to time. Why that is, however, I currently do not know."

Freyd asked if this would be the first time for everyone other than him. "If you speak of Floor Boss battles, then yes. Otherwise, no. Vigilon and I have been present in a handful of raids before." Krysta answered.
Vigilon would pull out an impressive array of consumables for the party. Surely any stats that may be lacking will surely be strengthened through this effort. Krysta smiled, giving a nod of her head. "Many thanks, Vigilon."

Now it was time to get to the situation proper. "Now then, we must make sure we arrive with the others. To do that, we must know exactly where we are headed, and which path to follow." She then looked to the party's self-appointed Tank. "Freyd, you have experience in the front lines, so you must know at least a fair hint of the path you believe Night has cleared for us, correct? Even if we run into any monsters, the path she traveled should still be the safest route for us." She requested.

After all, it most certainly would not do to get lost now, would it?

  12.             When Freyd arrived, one of the armored players disappeared from view. Perhaps some of the greatest mysteries were the unsolvable kinds, such as how an armored individual can move silently and quickly at the same time. Vigilon decided to flip a coin to decide the party leader between Krysta and the armored player who stayed. "Heads." Krysta spoke. Vigilon then caught the coin and placed it atop his hand.

         Heads.

Krysta was not anticipating to actually succeed in this coin flip, for in her experience, it was usually tails that won out. Regardless, she was now the party leader. "I shall do my best for my role in the Party." She stated. "To begin, we must make sure we are all prepared to set out. There's no telling what what awaits us along the way to the Boss Room, so we should figure out our roles within the party and know what we each are capable of." She explained as she began sending party invites. She sent one to Vigilon and one to Freyd, but then she realized she was not acquainted with the third party member. Looking at the list of usernames "Within Proximity", she then looked to the third player. "Pardon me, but is your username Morningstar?" She asked, making a guess.

Once that was settled, she would continue. "I work with Damage Dealing and Support, and will take whichever action is needed within the moment." She added, explaining the basics of her build. "Before we set out, we should see if we cannot bolster our stats for the journey. If anyone has brought any consumable buffs with them, I highly encourage you to share any extras you are willing to part with."

A party must be at their best at a time like this, for the highest achieved floor would most likely have the most dangerous common monsters available.

  13.                    No sooner was the wall brought down, Krysta intended to make her move against the cowardly boss. She moved swiftly, rushing towards her target with all due haste. She had to go all out, she had to finish this battle. There was so much that she needed to do, and even a life to return to. Everyone, back home...they were all counting on her to make it back alive, she had gotten this far and couldn't stop now!

Such is fate...that this tunnel vision within her thoughts would make her short-sighted and reckless in the moment she needed focus. Her sword art nearly activated, only to be stopped by the blade clashing against the opponent too early. Her weapon bounced off, her blade stopped glowing, she stopped glowing...

She had just butchered her attempt at her best, most powerful attack.

The recoil from the attack's failure caused a burst of energy to happen. While no one was damaged, the force from the air propelled by the burst would send Krysta flying back a few meters...at least she was able to keep her grip on her weapon though.

  14.                     Another reformation of the wall, another head to slay. This one seemed to be a head of venom, despite having a seemingly earthen aura.

Nari gave her commands for the round, and the assault began. Each player did their part against the monster, and its HP dropped to a mere sliver. Krysta decided to save her energy, for a sword art at this time would be wasteful. She rushed towards the poisonous head with all due haste. "Your venoms shan't peril us, vile creature!" She declared, as her sword glowed with holy energy, which was unleashed as Krysta cut along the head's neck, decapitating it.

Now that the head was felled, the time had come to continue the assault further, before a window of opportunity could pass or close. She then looked towards Vigilon. "Vigilon, the wall!" She called out, for it was on him to continue the assault by opening the way.

  15.                         Well, there was certainly a wrench in the attempted plan of action, as though it were thrown by a monkey following Murphy's Law. Not that it was a catastrophic failure, of course, but the potential of the assault against the boss was now weakened.

At least there was now a window of opportunity at all, and both Krysta and Vigilon would need to act now. Vigilon would note about making this moment count, and ask what Krysta thought. "Let us show this vile beast what we can accomplish." She said in agreement, with a nod of her head. As the two players were passing the wall, Vigilon asked if they should field test the concept of tag team attacks. Krysta was hesitant to answer. "I...erm...I cannot guarantee it will go very well, but I suppose it..wouldn't hurt to give it a try?" She responded.
Krysta would raise her weapon in position as Vigilon positioned his. Crossed swords, star crossed hearts.
"As one!" Krysta called out alongside Vigilon. As her sword art activated, her avatar became cloaked with a bright, shining light.

Vigilon's weapon, while potent and highly effective, was quite the unusual blade. While she should not have been surprised by the presence of an enigmatic sword, given what kind of game this was, something about it still felt off. The two players' initial strikes sent them upwards, and they would hack and slash at the boss as their attack continued, their strikes propelling them further upward in a spiral pattern. Once the players reached the boss's head, they dealt their attacks' finishing strikes simultaneously, unleashing a burst of fire and light energies.

It was at this point when Krysta realized that both players had forgotten to consider how to safely get down from a height such as this prior to the attack, but at least Krysta remembered a variety of games where simply holding a cloth in a certain way would break the fall into a smooth descent. She quickly pulled out a cloth material from her inventory, and called out to Vigilon, "Grab on, we shall use this to slow our descent!"
Upon doing so, the cloth caught air, bringing the two together as their velocity lessened, allowing for a safe landing. Vigilon thanked Krysta for coming up with such a solution on the fly. "You're very welcome, I do indeed hope that our next target of a tag team attack such as what we've just accomplished does not turn out to be such a towering height..."

  16.            It was not long before the wall of ice regenerated, the felled head also being replaced with another...a head of wood, of overgrowth. "Curses!" Krysta spoke in anguish. The window of opportunity must have been minuscule for it to have closed so quickly.

Jomei suggested a head on assault against the dark head that flowed with the essence of wood, as he began his part of the assault. Vigilon and Ariel followed, though unfortunately Lessa's attempt ended rather poorly. If this head was anything like the last, she doubted she could finish off this head herself, but maybe there was a way to try and make an opportunity of this current misfortune.

"Keep trying!" Krysta called out to Lessa. "Once Nari and I weaken the beast, you can finish it, allowing the rest of us to open the barrier and make a direct strike against the boss!" Krysta suggested, strategizing on the fly whilst hoping to encourage her. "I know you can do it, and I am here to lend aid if you need it!" She added with a smile before making her way to strike the beast.
This would be her first time using a Technique Sword Art in a battle of great importance. By taking attacking with the proper sword art in Lessa's stead, the battle could still set itself up for an opportunity. Unleashing her attack, She dealt her damage and applied her sword art's effect, however it may function against such a foe.

  17.                   Krysta watched as the battle continued. There was no need for her to cast Purify the time she did so, but she hoped she would not make the same mistake again. If there was such a thing as an energy restoration enhancement for alchemical crystals, this would be such a time to ready one, not because she could see the other players' energy levels, for she could not...but an unrelenting assault of this caliber would be slowly wearing down Krysta's energy if she had been fighting alongside them this whole time.

Vigilon took a moment to recover his energy, while the others continued fighting...but they were all failing to strike down the monstrous head of electrified ice despite their efforts. When Nari failed to finish her opponent, there was only one option remaining.

Good. It was about time Krysta's blade served a purpose in this battle. Her role in this raid was to be the light that kept the other lights from fading...even if it meant taking an action on the offensive.

Krysta drew her blade, eagerly, and made her way to the beast that still held on to its breath. "You shall fall here and now, vile beast! Send your cowardly master my regards!" She declared to the monster, before cutting the head with her sword art, Radiant Strike. With that, the monster the party was struggling against was defeated, and now the players needed to continue in their efforts to slay the boss.

  20.         The player Krysta had chosen to heal, Ariel, as Krysta had noticed when the ailment icons disappeared from her HP meter, thanked Krysta for her assistance, and said she would try to avoid giving her too much trouble in the future. "I appreciate the thought, but you shan't need to worry, there will always be times where damage becomes unavoidable in battles like these." She replied with a warm smile. "And I shall be here to cure those wounds before they cut too deep."

Vigilon seemed to take his part of the assault to be up-close and personal, but no sooner did he try that, something seemed to stir within the room. Whether this was simply par for the course or due to whatever was going on with these strange voices was something Krysta had to figure out somehow, but the result was the same. The boss created barriers of ice, separating the players into their parties and keeping the boss itself out of harm's way. Then the elemental heads formed. Wonderful, just was the raid needed. More monsters to mitigate the players' efforts.

Krysta watched as her allies struggled against the lightning charged beast of ice that formed to face her party. This was not looking good, and Vigilon had the worst of it so far. She needed to protect them from what it might do next...

She prepared a skill and her hands began to glow with a soft blue light. "We stand together, I offer my light to protect you!" She called out to her allies, as the soft blue light from her hands glowed brighter. She and the rest of her party would be enveloped in a soft blue light, now protected with help from her barrier.

  21.                              Krysta noticed something was off, just as everything began to take a turn for the worse. Something stirred in the air of the boss room as the voices echoed from seemingly nowhere. This air began to reek of animosity, and based on the change of expression and attitude, it would seem that something had lit up within the monster's mind...

It had only been mentally asleep. Now it was awake.

A storm of bladed metal was unleashed upon Krysta and her party. The antidotes had done well to protect the party, save for two individuals who lacked the effects. Krysta remembered why she was here. Drawing her blade was merely a contingency, she had to save her energy for times like these. She made her way over to the blonde among the inflicted, for her defenses were not as strong as the Tank's, and therefore could take less hits. "Over here!" She called out as she made her way over to the injured, afflicted player.

She rubbed her hands together, and she took a deep breath. Her hands began to glow a soft violet as she exhaled, then she placed them upon the player. The soft violet luminosity flowed and moved as though it were water, spreading all over Ariel's body. The tingling from the afflictions were replaced with a soothing sensation that quickly settled over the entirety of the player, and the marks that were indicators and evidence of the ailments and afflictions closed up. Krysta kept her hands upon Ariel for ten seconds more, before slowly removing them. The soft glow remained with the player, despite the fact that this light would soon inevitably fade. "There, that should keep you from taking too much damage." She noted. If the players were lights to clash against the darkness, then Krysta would be the light that kept the others from fading.

  22.                       Krysta watched, but she knew little of how longer she could just...stand there. "I should be fighting alongside them." She thought. The temptation was strong, fueled by her desire to help, and to slay the evil that sought only destruction. She often fought. She wanted to fight. She wanted so desperately to fight. She couldn't just sit here and be unhelpful, without purpose. She needed to do something, it was becoming an itch she had trouble staving off. Her hands shook, her breath no longer had a calm pace. She had to do something, she just had to. She couldn't bear to just stand on the sidelines, that's not what leaders, nor future leaders are supposed to do! She needed to get involved, she had to contribute somehow!

So then why did this scenario look like one where she could simply draw her weapon and fight? The option was there in plain sight, and she wanted to do it so badly... She couldn't possibly just leave them to it without any help from her! Aside from the initial barrier, she had done nothing for this entire battle. Nothing! "I should be fighting alongside them...I want to help, I want to fight, I want to fight, I want to fight, I need to fight, I need to fight, I need to fight..." She thought as her right hand's shaking intensified. She did not know how much longer she could hold out.

  23.                         Krysta hated the thought of being helpless. In any moment, in any manner.

Lessa seemed to seek a positive outlook, saying that it would be fine, that the players could simply just monitor their energy for the time being. She also suggested that Krysta should sit tight and wait, that her healing capabilities would be more than enough, when the time would come. Jomei noted that he felt better knowing that Krysta had the party's back, that she should preserve her energy for when she was truly needed.

The onslaught that the players were dealing caused the Boss's HP bars to become visible. This was not a three meter boss...there were six HP bars above the boss's head.

Despite the progress the players were making, Krysta felt as though this was only the beginning. Something was off...something was terribly wrong. The Princess resisted the urge to draw her weapon as she usually would in battle. "I need to do something, why am I doing nothing?" Her thoughts called out within her mind. The mental turbulence from habitual courses of action was getting to her, she did not wish to simply be a bystander in it all...
