Oops, they’d miscalculated–
As NIGHT’s AoE failed to drain the last two mobs’ HP, the small purple-haired girl’s scythe swished to the side and she leaped back. Yuki – noble, heroic Yuki – immediately cornered the surviving pair. She, unfortunately, didn’t contribute the last points of damage they needed to get the encounter over with, but knowing that the arachnids could not reach her without having to plow past the tank’s massive shield first was always a welcome fact to Arabelle. Her respect for the paladin silently increased twofold.
Pity she couldn’t end them. Arabelle had considered the order for a moment before she nodded cheerfully. “Okay!” It did matter who killed the mobs – Arabelle and NIGHT came prepared with their own set of looting buffs since they were both dealing the damage, but on account of the latter’s higher level, she could only guess NIGHT would have the better stats.
Not that she’d asked.
Arabelle settled atop a rock, chin on her palms, elbows propped, and her scythe gently laid on the ground beside her. “Good luck, I suppose…?”

–In that single moment, the girl had tensed behind her cover: eyes narrowed, her scythe manifesting from a distortion in the twisted air. He could certainly take more than a couple of direct hits, and if there was anything else Pinball was good for, it was being elusive, but cornered–
In her calculations, there was still the slightest possibility he could actually die.
Hardly had she begun internally rehearsing the alibi she already had prepared when Pinball skidded away from the mob, breaking through a cluster of the second Cerberus head’s digital dust. She leaned on her side against the pillar, arms crossed, unsympathetic and amused. He didn’t look at her.
“You’re skilled at this,” Arabelle sang, already certain her comment would draw his ire. Or indifference. Did it matter? “Here, our last present.”
Scythe in one hand and a crystal in another, she stepped out of her cover. High up in the air her final song went; her toss had sent it shattering against the cave roof, and as intangible fragments rained down upon them, the song's effects automatically targeted the only mob in the area.

And he'd eventually wander off. Eyes fixated somewhere far, far away, he didn't look any less despondent than when she found him an hour or so ago — seven-something days in hiding from a merry band who liked to proudly declare they were all a family, seven-something days in an internal feud between murder and justice. Alone in the frigid outskirts, Arabelle shut her eyes. She let her pulse and breathing slow, extending her consciousness outward, past the thick line of snow-covered trees that bordered the clearing.
Before they found Greil, she had informed Dustin of the presence of another.
That fourth player now attempted to quietly extract themself from the situation.
Light footsteps. The occasional rustle of leaves and snow. And at some undefined amount of meters away, a cautious pause.
When she next opened her eyes, they were burning scarlet. Did they really think it would be that easy? Their figure was stationary — outlined in a bright and burning yellow against the subdued colors of her vision. She drew her hood, took one silent step forward, then another, and she felt her lips curl into a smile. If she ever believed in one thing, it was that no one should outrun their sins.
Arabelle swapped a single crystallized song into her battle-ready.

Had they been [real], she would have found everything about them infuriating. But conversely, the stars would not have come together to fund their little pet project if they indeed were.

She loosened her kinchaku’s drawstring and held it, upside-down, between her fingers.
Performer crystals tinkled like miniature bells as they tumbled one after another into an empty basket placed beneath the NPCs’ task board. Her newest crafts took inspiration from a (surprisingly undamaged) snow globe she had pulled up from one of An’s storage crates and Tanabata’s unique gatherables: they looked, and sounded, like self-contained galaxies – swirls of blue, pink, and violet, with scatters of twinkling dots, encased in diamond-shaped fragments. She’d poked a hole into their corners, so that they looked like beads threaded into Claude’s woven strings. As the last one fell into the pile, the chalk on the board rewrote itself.

Description: Raserei is a blue wolf pup who will get just a bit bigger in time standing at 2 feet when fully grown. Mainly black-furred with blue fire designs that fill some black spots with a fluffy blue mane. She is warmer than usual to the touch. Her fire is blue but only is shown by emotion or for her defense mechanism given the skill she was given. Her body is solid but when working with its owner, her body becomes transparent allowing her to jump through the owner's body, igniting the fire within them both with a burst of blue flames. This activates the buff provided from the familiar acting as a thickening defense of blue fire. On a very rare occasion, she will breathe bits of blue flames.
