  1. As sated by both Primrose and Erroneous, this is both a game and a fansite in a sense.

Here you play by breathing life into a character of your own creation into Aincrad that could be based upon yourself or a different persona entirely through words alone. If you are looking for an actual SAO MMO like World of Warcraft or something then you are in the wrong place.

  2. Miaki was visiting the first floor for a change. This visit wasn't out of nostalgia or anything absurd like that. No, this visit was business mostly. He has visited the <> to check with a potential lead on he had on some recent suspicious player activity. The lead turned out to be no good and a dead end for him. But instead of wasting a teleportation crystal to return to the room at an inn he shared with his fiancé Nikki Styx on the fourth floor, he decided to walk across the plains to get back and use an actual teleportation gate.

The day was slightly overcast as the sun light poured onto random hills of the first floor. Miaki was wearing his light brown trench coat with a matching fedora that covered his strawberry-blonde hair. He wore black wire-frame glasses and adjusted them often out of habit. His katana, <> was tucked away underneath his trench coat and could be seen on occasion depending on his stride or how he carried himself. This was the young man who had come to be known as the <>.

He was crossing the fields noticing the occasional player running to and fro, likely on a quest, and sometimes a small group of players trying to get enough Col off mob drops to get by with food and rent. One player though caught his attention. The way the player carried himself was different. He was low level, that much was certain based on the fact he was distancing himself from different groupings of mobs. But he seemed calm and fully aware of the fact that he was low leveled and hadn't been able to do anything about it. This interested Miaki and caused him to change his direction and veer towards the unknown player.

  3. After perhaps an hours hike he found himself nearing the vaguely mapped out region. <> was the name that appeared on his map. The name was fitting for the area. In fact it was fitting for the floor entirely since practically everything one could enter was hollowed out tree. He checked his positioning and compared it to the location marked by other players that went before him. Some of the trees, especially the narrow ones were sealed up and couldn't be entered. If every building and structure he had seen in SAO was enterable then the memory required to manage 100 floors of buildings to enter would be ridiculous.

Not even the longest running MMOs could with seemingly endless budgets and resources. At the same time though most of the buildings in Aincrad could be entered. Some loophole found by a veteran video game programmer made it where most buildings could be entered but managed to saved memory space.

  4. Miaki Murakami, also known as the <>, was scouting out a partly explored region of the eighth floor when he noticed two minotaurs attacking another player. He didn't think much of it and kept going until he heard the sudden sound of a shattering blade. He spun on his heel to investigate and saw the young girl stagger back with the handle of her blade still held in her hand before turning to polygon fragments as well. He crouched low to the ground and bolted forward towards the two beasts. Before drawing his own weapon, which was attached to the back of his trench coat for a change, he opened his menu and selected the first unused weapon he saw in his inventory, <>.

As soon as he inputted the command to materialize the weapon in his offhand, he drew his katana from his back. Now the system in Sword Art Online prevented players from using two weapons at once as far as players knew, however holding two weapons still worked, just not for combat. Any attempts to wield two weapons ended in an embarrassing epic failure on the players' behalf. Just before attacking one of the minotaurs, the battleaxe appeared in his left hand, using the momentum of his running forward, Miaki spun in a 360 degree twirl and tossed the axe over the tall monster.

"Here! Catch this!" He yelled as he moved in to attack one of the targets.

Battle Result: Massive Crit! 4 DMG!

Soon as the battleaxe was airborne, Miaki drew his katana and made a deep gash into one of the minotaurs between him and the girl in distress.

  5. Welcome to Sword Art Online Caen! Sounds like you're a rather enthusiastic one. Love to hear about someone wanting to go into VR technology and explore the possibilities that could eventually make Aincrad a reality. Welcome to the site and enjoy your time here. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

  6. Miaki entered the snow covered building that was Shanok's forge. "Well if it isn't my favorite blacksmith so far. Atleast until someone becomes better than you." He said in a joking manner. "Listen my man, I'm looking to get some of my gear mended and maybe buy something off you." Dropping his katana and breastplate on the counter for his friend to take a look at, Miaki glanced around the room at some of the weapons. "Let's see what you have here. I see that business has been rather nice successful for you."

Spotting a simple weapon mounted on the wall. He pulled it down and held it up Thor Shanok to see. "This is what I'll take." He said while holding up the <>. "I know I can use this but you never know when you need such things." He added the Battleaxe to the pile of wares he had and paid his buddy Shanok.

  7. Greetings Lennoth! I also live in the south! Currently though I'm in Alaska and have been able to pop my head in here a lot in the evening. You've found yourself a great community. Looking forward to RPing with you or atleast seeing your character get into things. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask around. I'm part of the player support team so it's in my job description.

  8. After a while he finally settled on a small jar of honey spread. It wasn't much larger than his fist and the golden contents inside the glass container looked rather appealing. Neither he nor Nikki had any stats put into cooking so it was pointless to buy cooking ingredients, but something that could be applied to other foods worked well enough for them. That was what made this item perfect for Nikki. It was something she could keep in her inventory and use whenever she wanted and on whatever she wanted. He picked up the jar and held it up to the vendor and paid for it with a small amount of his Col. Completing his purchase, Miaki left <> behind him and headed out for the unexplored territory.

  9. Checking around the shops, he saw that, with no surprise, the shops and vendors all had different types of food with honey thrown into the mix. From candies to pastries, meats to dairies the town had all sorts of things to offer. He was thinking hard of something to get to bring back with him that Nikki would like. But he had no idea what exactly she would like more which became a dilemma. He could of course try sending her a carefully worded message asking for something that would lead to tell him what to get for her. But that wasn't something he was interested in trying to do. Plus she was more than smart enough to figure out he was up to something if he were to ask odd questions out of the blue.

  10. Miaki couldn't teleport to the town closest to the region he was mapping because he'd never been there himself. With the exception of the main settlements of each floor, which were unlocked whenever a new floor boss was defeated, players had to activate the other teleportation gates themselves if they wanted to use them, you couldn't have someone do it for you. This was how it work with other MMOs as well. You couldn't expect to see everything the world has to offer unless you went out to explore it yourself.

The <> made his way for <> and from there it would be a straight shot to the partially charted area he was after. Using a network of zipline shortcuts that required some pretty decent STR requirements to use, Miaki was able to cut a lot of time to reach <>. He'd only been here once and had decided to check out the town before moving on. Atleast to see what kind of goods or food one could only get here and no where else on the floors currently accessible to players in AIncrad.

  11. Miaki had invited his fiancé, Nikki, or Abigale as he came to know her to come along in checking out the region but she had to train some new recruits and was too busy. So he kissed his lovely fiancé, wished her luck with the new recruits, left their place on the fourth floor, and used the local <> in the settlement to jump to the eighth floor main plaza.

Upon arriving through the vine wreathed arc, he looked around at what some were coming to call the "treetop" floor. This floor got its name for the one simple fact that the entire floor was focused on the high elevations of carved out trees and suspended rope bridges. Every time he looked at it he would swear he'd just stepped into Lorien from J.R.R. Tolkien's fictional works. It was this floor where he and Nikki confessed their caring for one another by kissing one another in front of the entire raiding party. It was also the same floor where he knelled before her, in one of the higher locations on the floor, and dedicated his life to her if she would accept him; and she had.

  12. It was a very brisk morning on the fourth floor. The snow was falling as it always seemed to do and the mountain air was fresh as ever. Today, Miaki's plans were to venture up to the eighth floor to scout out a new region of the floor. Thus far only a few explorers and cartographers had begun to map out the area and there was still much to explore. This was what Miaki had in mind to do for the day. Currently another team was assigned to scout the labyrinth out so Miaki wasn't needed there. Instead he chose to help with mapping out floors and dungeons.

Because the floor clearers were so obsessive of getting to the next floor, most of the time they overlooked many regions or areas that they considered unimportant unless they heard about a quest or valuable item that was present in the area. Miaki had heard of one particular dungeon, a massive, hollowed out tree, that had yet to be checked. He wasn't sure what to expect but knew that it would be interesting never the less what happened.

  13. Well after seeing you around for a couple weeks I was wondering if we'd see this introduction. Allow me to officially welcome you to Sword Art Online and welcome to the Azure Brigade!
