Item Enhancements: Fallen/ACC/Paralyze/Bleed
Description: "The Guardian of the Castle has passed his blade along to you. Accept its wrath and use it for the betterment of Aincrad, lest it consume the remainder of your time."Notes: A slot of Fallen on Dawn's Demise has been swapped out for Holy. I would have built the sword this way, had I had the information about 3.0 when I built it that I do now. It is actually functionally a marginal decrease in over DPS efficacy, but I'm going for a particular synergy that I think has the potential to justify it in the end. Bloodstained Coat, in the process of being converted to Cloth Armor, became ineligible for two slots of MIT. As such, one slot of MIT has been swapped for Risky. Forgotten King's Spite has undergone virtually no change, other than the bump from T3 to T4.

Four mentions. Something told Bahr that Lessa was hinting at something.
"I don't know about hot dates," he responded nonchalantly, taking his time with each stride as their waltzed through the city's busy streets. "But I do know about burgers, if you're thinking about snagging one. I can show you a hot place on a cold floor that serves the best kinds. They call it 'White Rodent' or something like that. Ever been?" With a coy grin, he gradually started leading her toward the Teleport Plaza so they could make their way to the Fourth Floor and indulge in the same tavern they'd spent most of their time together.
He'd be lying if he said he was disappointed by the newbie's sudden disappearance. If it did turn out he had a 'hot date,' all Bahr could do was wish him luck. Whatever the case, and wherever he was, he only hoped the lad would bless him with a similar sentiment.

None of that really mattered at present time, though. As Bahr turned in the quest and reaped the rewards, he came to the conclusion that, if it were something that Bahr needed to be made aware of, then he would be made aware of it when the time was right. In the meantime, he had other things to attend to.
He'd been meaning to take some time recently to pay a visit to the Monument of Life and pay his respects to the people he'd lost. Every time he'd gone there, something had happened. Or there had been people around. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. But now that he was alone, it seemed like the perfect time. He'd really have all of the time he needed to sit alone with his thoughts, digest them, and grieve properly.
At least, that's what he'd thought he would be able to do. But, as usual, things changed once he actually got the Monument. This time, as he stared at the various names that decorated its plaque with Oscar's name written beside them as the cause of death, something roiled within him. This was the same man he'd just been fighting mobs with?
No wonder they hadn't seen eye to eye.

At any rate, Bahr understood that if he turned in the quest, they would still get all of the experience point evenly. While what was happening with Oscar was unclear, what Bahr did know was that he, at the very least, could hand in the quest and get them the experience. It was a little bit of a bummer that they wouldn't get to go dungeon crawling like they had originally hoped, however.
On his way back out of the cave, Bahr's mind began to wander. Usually, if something serious was going on, Oscar would enlist his help. In this instance, the man has simply disappeared without a trace. Bahr had already summoned his menu and taken a look at Oscar's data, concluding the man hadn't spontaneously died. So that wasn't it. Was something even more sinister afoot?
Unlikely. It was probably just the sort of thing that was of the more personal variety. Bahr knew that not everything needed to include him. It appeared that this was just one of those instances. -
He was starting to get a bit annoyed again, but not nearly as annoyed as he had been earlier. After all, this was the sort of aggravation that stemmed from the inexplicable inability to strike a single, barely mobile target. That was far more elusive than it really had any right to be. What with its stubby legs, and those stupid cumbersome wings which really didn't do anything for the creature in a claustrophobia inducing space such as this. It wasn't quite the same now that he'd gotten all of the skins that they had needed to get. Their experience points were waiting for them. Bahr just needed to finish this thing off.
Which he finally managed to do with one final stroke of his blade.
"Nice. Did you see-"
But nobody was there. Where had Oscar gone?
"... that."
He wasn't sure what had happened, but he knew that Oscar wouldn't just up and leave without explanation unless he had a good reason to do so.

Not that there was much of it left, anyways. There was just the one mob. One, singular mob that separated them from relinquishing the shackles of this quest's control over them and their time. One, measly lizard that stood between them and salvation. Freedom. And escape from the dankness of this proverbial anal canal of a cave. Lord knew, it smelled like one. And Bahr was willing to put in whatever effort was required of him to destroy this final mob before it dealt any irreparable damage to either himself or his companion. Though, truthfully, he wasn't worried about that. What could it actually do to them? Singe their hair a little bit? They'd killed dozens of its brethren. Why did it even stand against them? Was it motivated by vengeance, or was it really stupid enough to think that it alone had the strength to stop them? Talk about anime protagonist syndrome.
Anyways, Bahr missed it again.

Though, much to his pleasant surprise, Bahr had thought wrong. He wasn't quite sure what it was that Oscar was fiddling with that had awarded Bahr with the time he needed to swing that slab of metal a second time in a row, but as it cut through the lot of mobs, a skin was revealed for each and every one it fell. A proverbial Christmas miracle - if by 'Christmas' you meant 'an inexplicable refusal by Cardinal to meet Bahr's expectations.' Or something like that. Realistically, he knew that there was a
word countcertain measure of participation he needed to have, and he was more or less buying time for Oscar to ready his axe and swing again.
But when he didn't Bahr was forced to dodge yet another fireball. "You alright over there?" Bahr called out. But his companion paid him no mind. No matter - Bahr was no stranger to conflict, and welcomed it this time with open arms.

As Bahr's slab of steel sang its whistle while cleaving through the air, it managed to hit only two of the Drakelings, leaving all four still standing. "No, I don't think so," he hummed lowly, more a murmur than any sort of actual declaration. "I'm about done dealing with this stupid ass quest. Not gonna lie to you. The math seems all wrong."
Though he may have bellyached about it, those complaints wouldn't stop the lizards from striking back. He sidestepped a pair of fireballs, the heat from the glowing orbs a welcome distraction from the cool dampness of the cavern. "I get that it's not supposed to be easy. But I don't think it was supposed to be this hard either."
Maybe it was supposed to be that hard, and he was just blowing steam out of his ass. He didn't know for sure. All he could surmise was that he was done with this cave, and done with this quest. Before them stood four Drakelings, and he would honestly be surprised if they managed to glean a single skin from the lot.

Bahr frowned as Macradon dramatically leaned over the back of his chair, stealing another sip of his coffee. After a moment, he cleared his throat, and addressed his peer with a softer tone. "All we can do is our best, my friend." There was no further intent or deeper meaning behind the words - only the silent recognition that he understood Macradon's reasoning. He further cemented this sentiment with a nod, conveying a respect and trust he was unwilling to give to most others.
"More than a peer, I respect you as a mentor, Mac," he admitted as he set down the cup. "I trust in your ability to handle it if something goes awry. That being said, it's just very easy for things to get out of our control. It wouldn't be productive for us to assume anything to the contrary."
He was unsure if there was much else he could say. He'd laid his contention out on the table, and so had Macradon. All that was left was the company they shared. Bahr's mismatched hues trailed to the window, studying the floors sunny contents beyond its translucent veil. "It's a nice day out." -
His day - which had already been good - was only getting better. Playing hooky at the Crusty Bahrnacle to goof off with his special lady and her new friend? Sounded like the perfect way to spend a leisurely afternoon like this one. "It would be my pleasure," he responded jovially, before adding, "Just let me get this place locked up and we'll be on our way."
By the time he'd finished locking up, he only saw Alyssa waiting for him outside. "Um..." He glanced around for a moment. "I'm not missing something, am I? I swear that there was a guy with you just a minute ago. I gave him armor and everything. Did he get too excited and dash off to the fields without us?" Though his expression was puzzled, it became crossed with humor as his mismatched eyes caught a glimpse of the warm smile that spread across Lessa's lips.
"Not that I'm complaining. I'll take the along time with you." -
He'd heard the question, but it hadn't quite registered. "What?" he'd heard himself ask, right around the time her inquiry fully sank in. He shook his head in response, realizing his mistake. Then, upon realizing that it may have looked as though he was answering in the negative, he quickly corrected with another shake of his head, followed by holding up his palms defensively. "No - I mean, I'm fine. Just a lot that's been going on."
It occurred to him that he wasn't sure just how aware she was of Oscar's position within the guild, if at all. Had she checked the list? Had he told her?
"You heard, right? About Oscar leaving." He let the question settle in for a moment, before continuing. "He's been crossing off a lot of names on the Monument of Life. When I went to confront him about it, he didn't have kind things to say. Ended up leaving in the end."
She probably knew all of it. He was just coming off as patronizing.
"No worries. Did you need my help with something?" -

Q: Regarding the chest opening rolls in the Black Iron Dungeon - It has said that the only things that influence the roll are the Lock Picking skill and familiars. Are keys no longer a thing in 3.0, or are they simply not valid items in the dungeon?
A: Keys exist, but for standard chest. Black Iron Dungeon chests are only influenced by the modifiers mentioned in the official literature.
Q: Do all existing, applicable parts of your build come with you, particularly your familiar and profession/rank? If switching to a new profession as part of your respec, do you get to enter as the same rank of the new profession, or do you need to retake Earning a Living/work your way back up with EXP?
A: For the most part, yes. Your familiar will come with you, and you can spec it into whatever Familiar tree you desire. As far as professions go, your EXP for your profession can convert into the same profession in 3.0. However, if you wish to change to another profession, you will still need to retake EaL and climb back up through the EXP ladder as you would normally. -
