[F22-PP] The Old Ways Die, and are Reborn <<Katana Skill Acquisition>>
Katoka replied to Freyd's topic in Intermediate Floors
Katoka looked away awkwardly at his mention of pain, choosing not to respond but knowing he got the message. "Other than getting bullied in school for a bit there's nit much in terms of a dark and gloomy past." she shrugged, "I hid in my room and put up appearances while absorbing myself in games to distract myself. I don't know if that plays into this or not but it's not something that I keep pushed deep down anymore." It was reassuring to her that Freyd was coming more and more out of his shell, trusting those around him to help carry his burdens so that he didn't have shoulder the -

Stepping back into the room Katoka let out a sigh. "Yeah, all is well. Nothing out of the ordinary anywhere so I think I'm alright. For now." Her gaze fell once again onto the discarded sword on the floor, she had noticed that Freyd had also been glancing in its direction. Gesturing with her hand she opened her game menu and tapped on the icon for the weapon, making it fizzle away from it's location and back to her side. Then swiftly dragged it to her inventory so that it was once again no longer equipped. She hopped that if she remained vigilant, it would remain there. Now that she was certai -

The samurai took her time getting her breathing under control. She felt significantly more safe there with Freyd, but there was still a part of her that kept her heart beating faster than usual. After one final deep breath in and slow out she nodded, letting her brother know that she was fully in control again. "I've always felt excited when fighting, especially once I got to the level I am now. It wasn't anything sociopathic or anything. A good fight would get my blood pumping, the thrill of the hunt and all that." she shook her head. "It just feels so much stronger now." Standing up, K -

The constant whine of psyche induced tinnitus filled Katoka's ears, drowning out any other sound that attempted to slip in. She was having a panic attack, the first one in a long time. Normally she would recognize the symptoms as they creeped their way through her body and she could take the steps she had learned to keep it somewhat under control. This one was different. She looked around the room with frantic eyes as her chest rose and fell at an alarming rate. After what seemed like an eternity her gaze managed to fall upon Freyd just as he shouted her name. The sight of him allowed his voic -
Seeing the creature's health bar drop into the red sent a ripple of gooseflesh across Katoka's body. The primal urge to hunt and kill rose up inside her and if she hadn't been paying attention she might have given in to it. Instead she watched the beast as it stomped and charged about the stadium in a near rage at it's declining health. The samurai began to walk slowing in line with her target, her eyes locked on with intense focus. That walk turned into a jog, her path now parallel to the rhino as her sword began to glow a deep red. Piasuhon took notice of the player attempting to keep u

Attempting to hold herself together, Katoka felt the hot tears streaming down her face. "I-I hadn't really thought about coming out in public like this. I had th-thought I cried all the tears out of me already." she let out a half chuckle, half sob. Elora's touch had nearly made her fall into her arms completely, but she only leaned into her for a bit of support. Walking with the elven woman she spotted the looming structure of a church and at the moment that seemed like a fitting place for the two of them to have a quiet conversation. The samurai nudged her friend in it's direction, havi

[PP-F24] Weddings on the Beach <<Saying Vows>>
Katoka replied to Wulfrin's topic in Intermediate Floors
Katoka sat on the couch in her living room staring at the wall opposite of her. The past few weeks had been hectic for lack of a better term due to the impending raid and she had thought that the momentary silence would be good for her. She was wrong. Standing up and stretching, the blonde woman had decided she would tackle the over growing sink full of dishes she had been neglecting when the all to familiar ping of a message sounded in her ears. Tapping on the icon she quickly read the message and smiled softly. Though their time together had been ever so brief, it warmed Kat's heart to -

As the two warriors clashed their training weapons together again a delay of sound followed after. As if lighting had struck several miles away, the earth rumbling cracks of the wooden swords seemed to reverberate through the entirety of the guild hall now. It would only be a matter of time before the members of Firm Anima that resided on the property would come to find the source of the noise. Katoka felt her mouth pull into a fierce grin as she felt the building electricity inside her. Stray bolts of power snapped and cracked from her as she began to pick up speed. The samurai could fee -
The massive monster continued on it's path, seemingly headed off in some direction to do whatever it was programmed to do. Kat wasn't sure what something of this size would have the urge to do other than constantly walk and walk until it decided to rest. The wind whipped past her making it difficult at times to reach the next hand or foot hold. It was beginning to get difficult to hear as well, with the rhythmic booms and rumbles of the moving stone she clung to and the constant howling of the wind, it was a wonder she was able to hear Freyd call out to her at all. "What are you talking a

The cracks and thocks of wood against wood echoed through the dojo. Kat could tell that Freyd was not attacking with his all, his movements and the force behind his hits told her as much. This ignited a spark of irritation inside the small samurai. Seeing an opening in his footing she quickly disarmed him, sending his weapon sailing from his hands and then bringing her bokken around to knock his feet out from under him. Just as his back slammed into the tatami mat beneath him, her sword was already in a downward swing that stopped just shy of striking him, though his hair blasted back rom he f -

Thwack! Another swift strike corrected Freyd's form. "Regardless of whether or not this will be its final form, Samael's Pride will follow you into battle just as willingly as the rest of us will. Maybe some day in the future, you will be able to hang it on your wall instead of at your side." Katoka knew that this would more than likes not be true for a long time, but she felt it would not be a bad thing for her friend to one day retire the weapon he wielded like an extension of himself. The samurai found herself striking her student less and less, only moving his elbows and kne -
At first, Katoka was concerned she wouldn't be able to keep up with the veteran frontliners she was working with today. Now an overwhelming sense of relief washed over her as she realized they were a lot like her. She had envisioned them obliterating the bosses they had come to fight today, but even Freyd had taken a back seat in damage. Then again whenever he wracked up numbers he also used a literal buffet of consumables to get that high. A smile pilled at Kat's lips, her anxieties about being perfect at the top were slowly beginning to wash away. Her attention snapped back once again t

The ping of an incoming message startled Kat out of her stupor. She lethargically tapped the icon and read the message. With a half hearted flick of the wrist she closed the menu and stood, not bothering to stretch as she normally would. Her brain had settled into a fog and she was going through the motions now. Had she not passed by a mirror before heading out the door she wouldn't have even noticed that she was only wearing a large sweater. With a few quick taps she was in her normal clothing and slipped out the front door. She took a different route to the teleport gate this time, avoi

The ding of a received message appeared as Katoka was lifting a large rock to look underneath for some reason. Dropping the thing with a loud thud she swiped her menu open with confusion, "Who could be messaging me right now?" the confusion was short lived as she whipped around and managed to see the hulking behemoth that Freyd was now climbing. "How in the hell did I miss that..." Breaking out of her momentary stupor, Kat rushed forward and with a flying leap, grabbed onto the side of the thing to begin ascending. She found that it wasn't terribly hard to find hand and footholds to

Thinking back to one of the first quests they ever did together, Kat remembered Freyd using a bladed weapon. "I do believe I remember you using a sword back when you took a few of to kill that damn sand shark." the blonde felt a sense of nostalgia wash over her as she thought about how far she had come since then. What was even funnier was that she was teaching the man that had been pretty much the level she is now back then in that moisture deprived sand trap. "Alright, I'm going to show you the five basic stances. I want you to copy them to best of your ability and then once I finish yo -

Katoka rested on her knees, listening as Freyd spoke earnestly with her. He had been mor and more open as time had passed, something that Kat treasured dearly. She could tell that the possible weight of him having to become guild leader was weighing on his shoulders. At the moment the weight seemed to be for the good, but she felt that it wouldn't take much for it to tip in the opposite direction. "I respect your resolve in becoming a better pillar in the guild. Just don't forget that Raidou is still around, you don't have to take up that responsibility just yet. He doesn't seem like the type -

A sigh of relief escaped the samurai's lips as she flopped onto her couch. She had just finished deep cleaning her kitchen and had left the room sparkling, a satisfied smile on her lips. She knew that she didn't have to actually clean any part of her house that way, the system could restore a space to a shining new state, but the action was liberating for her. Reaching out to her coffee table she grabbed a glass of water and gulped down a few mouthfuls as a notification pinged in her periphery. Setting the glass down the tapped the icon and scanned the message. Freyd needed her at the guild do -
"Right, keep it distracted." Kat replied. If only she was able to pull the things attention long enough for it to matter. Katoka cut across the arena in an attempt to reorient her self in the creatures path. She looked over towards NIGHT, hoping that she was alright. The samurai was certain that her party member was one of the few people that was close to Freyd's strength, at least from what she had heard from others. Whatever had thrown her off her game was probably worth being worried about in some shape or form. While lost in thought Kat managed to loose sight of the rhino in the

"Wait. Climb?" Kat cocked her head to the side like a dog hearing an odd sound, "Uhh, just how big of a guy is this?" The samurai hurried after her friend attempting to keep up with his long stride. She hated being short and trying to catch up to people walking. As the two pushed through the depressing landscape of the nineteenth floor, Kat did her best to look about for any signs of something large that had pushed it's way through the area. If this thing was large enough that they had so scale it to attack, it would definitely leave some sort of noticeable trail. After about fifteen minu

The warmth that radiated from Freyd into her as he held her, wrapped in his tattered cloak, melted away the chill that had seeped deep into her bones. Seeing his unwrapped hands and de-cowled face caused her to pause ever so slightly, her mouth agape as he smiled down at her. Tears flowed even harder at the complete and open vulnerability that he was showcasing, audible sobs reverberating from her just before she slammed her had back into his chest. At this point she was certain that he NPCs around them were probably staring, wondering if a child was being consoled. As she gathered hersel

Normally she would have acted more surprised at him appearing out of nowhere just out of sight, however this time when she noticed a figure approaching she simply turned and waited for him to approach. She wanted to make a remark, something about arriving like a fart on the wind, but the words wouldn't come out. Instead she watched him. Something that Katoka rarely did, watch people. She could see that he was conflicted himself, as though he couldn't decide what to say. "You called, Katoka?" his voice soft, like he was walking on eggshells. She gave him a smile. One that was big, but

Among the ramshackle huts and dilapidated tents of the settlement of Home there stood a blonde haired samurai, her mood as somber as the weather that poured rain into the muddy ground. Katoka felt as hollow as an empty bowl, and her eyes reflected that much. It had been a few days since she had broken up with Sam and she was finally done keeping up appearances. Once Freyd had left a note in her shop that he knew what had happened she knew it was time for her to give him an explanation now. After all, she had been keeping things from him as well. It had been some time since she had last be

"It's like riding a bike Mac, I'm sure once we finish our gauntlet here that you will be battle ready." the samurai gave him a thumbs up as they made their way to their next destination. Once the group arrived Kat was in awe of the arena they had to enter. It reminded her of the pictures she had seen of the roman coliseum when she was in school. At that thought everything clicked, just as the portcullis dropped behind them. "Ah, we're trapped in here until we kill it." she let out a sigh and reached for her sword. Her hand hesitated slightly but she gripped the hilt as their next opponent
