[PP-F2] Hunt part II <Morgenstern> completed

Recommended Posts

Itzal whistled to Velnia as he tossed his glowing crystal into the air.  She swooped in overhead the dark corners of the lit path and revealed an ambush waiting for them.  As she flew by it was confirmed that there was two goblins, but as she turned to head back the light flickered on a third.  The two goblins had a spear and an ax, but he only got a glimpse of the third one and did not see a weapon, just a hint of it's face.  The two goblins looked shocked and swung their weapons at Velnia but to no avail.  They turned and looked at their prey but since they were out of aggro range they did not attack.  Instead they waited the inevitable.  Itzal looked at Jonathan.

"Alright so we don't know what type of weapon the third goblin has so we'll have to be careful.  I don't know if you want to take all the hits again on this one or not but we have time to strategize if you want."

Jonathan looked at Itzal. I can take the hits, I'll focus damage on one, you try to get you bleeding effect on them. Jonathan unsheathed his sword. Two of the goblins came out to make an attack. The third seemed to be staying in the back. Maybe it was their boss? Jonathan energized his sword and took on the Axe goblin. Jonathan smiled thrusting forward with his sword. He struck the goblin hard, the sword entered the goblins body. He pulled it out and slashed again. The blade met the body of the goblin. The goblin fell to the ground. His eyes seemed to be a blackish color. The spear Goblin attacked, but Jonathan reflected it with his sword. Switch!"

Itzal waited until the two goblins charged at Jonathan, then ran along the side.  He laughed as they utterly failed to land a single hit on him.  Then his focus snapped to the one in the shadows.  The goblin charged at full speed towards Jonathan with a shield at it's side and a one handed longsword raised for a deathly blow.  Itzal adjusted his run so he'd reach the two goblins right as the third tried landing it's attack.  He charged his attack and unleashed rage spike.  In one fell swoop he landed a critical hit on the two goblins, giving them a bleeding effect, and turned and stabbed at the third goblin as it jumped in the air.  The third goblin hadn't expected this and rolled on the ground past Jonathan in pain.  Itzal came to a stop to admire his work.  Now that the bleeding was set on the first round, this should be a piece of cake.

OOC I hit one of the goblins in my last turn

Jonathan watched as the third came out of the dark, coming in for a well placed strike. Then Itzal leapt in front of Jonathan and knocked all three to the ground. Jonathan smiled. He then dashed forward, striking with an uppercut at the goblins. The gleaming sword sent and strike of green at the goblins. The energy struck froward hitting all three of the green creatures hard. Jonathan grinned. Now all of the goblins were doomed to die from Itzal's bleeding effect. Jonathan sheathed his sword. Then the goblins moved forward, all striking him once sending him flying to the ground.

Itzal rushed at the mobs and swung his sword, dealing one last hit before the bleeding effect took them out.  Itzal frowned when no loot popped up.  It seemed that whenever he faced three or more enemies no loot fell.  It sucked.  Nonetheless they won and that's what mattered.  He sheathed his sword and continued down the path.  He grinned as Jonathan walked beside him.

"I've never burned though anywhere this fast before," he mentioned.  "It certainly makes training easier.  We should do this more often."  As they walked Itzal wrote a mental map of the path they took since the path opened into other paths which ended up becoming a literal maze.  Itzal trusted Velnia though and soon they made it out of the tunnel.  This next area held thousands of huge crystals.  These crystals were all bright colors:  pink, light green, sky blue, yellow, white.  No dark color existed.  Itzal's crystal, the dark purple that was practically invisible in the dark, was most likely down the dark path.  It seemed that this cave was meant for hunting materials.  As he observed the cavern however he noticed that there were more paths.  'How far does this cavern go?' he wondered.

200th post! I don't know what to put

Jonathan seen Itzal searching for materials. Jonathan shrugged and began to look around. The crystals seemed to distract him from looking about every five seconds. The ground and walls were literally littered with them. Jonathan focused. He searched the ground left and right. He did not end up finding anything. Jonathan sighed and stroked the small dragon's back. Jonathan wondered what was hiding in the dark.

OOC lol ok!  no more loot searching!  I promise!

Itzal explored the area a bit more but his eyes kept flickering to the other pathways.  Where could they possibly go?  He was worried that at the end of one of those tunnels would be another opening leading to three more tunnels like this one.  It seemed to go on forever.  At some point they'd end up getting lost.  He sighed and walked over.  They might as well check.  If it lead into another room they could always go back the way they came.

"You want to keep exploring?  I'll be honest, if it looks exactly like this room on the other end I'm turning...  Back."  He was right outside the middle path when he noticed something.  His eyes widened and he turned around and ran to where Jonathan was standing, yelling at Jonathan and Velnia, who was purring at Jonathan's touch, to get ready.  He drew Retributor and turned around, awaiting the huge goblin that emerged.  It looked like it was about 7'5" and fairly muscular, with a large hammer for a weapon.  Oh boy were they in for it this time.  At least it didn't have any minions.  That meant it wasn't a boss.  "Get ready!"  he yelled.

OOC tough? Pish... I take enough hits to last. I also renamed your goblin

Jonathan watched as a huge goblin emerged from the cave. Jonatha grimaced and unsheathed its sword. It was huge and muscular. It raised its hammer to smash Itzal. No... NO! Jonathan dashed forward, jumping over Itzal, His sword glowing a bright green. He had to stop the creature. He landed in front of Itzal as the creature bashed down. Jonathan met the hammer with his sword. Jonathan was hit back from the force but immediately readied himself and attacked. Jonathan slashed once on the creatures arm, then spun around using the momentum to strike the goblins whole body horizontally. The goblin swatted the boy away but Jonathan practically came out not hurt.

Itzal watched as Jonathan got knocked back by the brute after landing a successful blow.  It didn't deal much damage but then again, he doubted he could do better.  As the sentinel approached Jonathan he ran in a long circle around and tried to attack from behind.  The sentinel saw this and swung it's hammer behind him into the ground close to Itzal.  He missed but it didn't stop Itzal.  He jumped back and ran at it again.  When the giant swung the hammer a second time Itzal knew he had to come up with a better strategy other than try dodging this massive hammer.  He jumped back again and proceeded to circle the beast while thinking of a better tactic.

"Keep it distracted!" he called.

Jonatahan watched as Itzal circled the Goblin. Jonathan's turn again. Jonathan grimaced and charged forward. The goblin caught sight of Jonathan and brought down his hammer. Jonathan grimaced, being close and the light off of his sword made it easy to see how ugly this thing was. Jonathan moved in to strike. Jonathan dodged the hammer but did not manage to make contact with the creature. Jonathan leapt backwards and stood in a battle ready stance. Jonathan might take damage. The goblin was focused on Jonathan.

Itzal watched as the monster struck at Jonathan and saw how it was holding the very edge of it's hammer.  He realized that it's goal was to keep them away from it's body so that it could hit them without getting hit back.  And since long range weapons were non-existent they had to avoid the hammer long enough to get past it.  Itzal rushed up from behind and leaped into the air, unleashing uppercut at the sentinel's back and he heard it roar in pain.  After he landed he made sure he was clear of the monster.  Just in time, because as he looked behind him he saw that the attack the mob had made would have been devastating.  The hammer crashed into the rock floor, creating a minor crater.  Itzal grimaced as he thought of what would have happened to him if he were actually hit.

Jonathan watched as Itzal made a move stunning the goblin Sentinel. This was Jonathan's chance. He readied the sword art Snakebite. He moved forward, focusing on the creatures chest. His chance. With a yell, he charged forward, dodging the striking hammer, then struck the creature in the chest. Jonathan smirked then struck again. He leapt off the creatures chest. He yelled switch as he stayed in front to take any incoming damage.

The attack drew all of the goblin's focus on Jonathan, providing exactly the opportunity Itzal had waited for.  After Jonathan attacked the huge sentinel, it staggered for a moment and Itzal lunged for the kill.  He jumped and used snakebite, slashing along it's back then as his jump reached it's peak, thrust the blade through it's neck and out the other end before plummeting back down to safety on the ground.  He rolled when he made contact and turned to admire his work.  With that stab he had landed a critical hit and saw the red pixel effects of bleeding that he had just inflicted.

"Time to finish this loser off!" he called.

Jonathan watched as Itzal grabbed his sword and struck the goblin twice hard, adding a bleeding effect. Jonathan was most likely not going to get the last hit on this thing. Jonathan readied his sword. He just had to protect Itzal for the remainder of its life. Jonathan moved forward striking after the goblin. The goblin brought his hammer down, Jonathan blocked with his sword, making the goblin stagger back. All that was left now for it to bleed to death. Jonathan smirked. What was behind this thing?

OOC- Ok, do you want to try finding a sub-dungeon on this thread?  I haven't done one yet but it sounds rewarding

Itzal sheathed his sword as the goblin shattered from the bleeding effect.  He whistled for Velnia to fly over and she landed on his shoulder.

"Well that wasn't as hard as I thought," he told Jonathan.  He grinned.  "That armor really works eh?"  He glanced at the entrance of the cave.  Either this would lead to something with a high reward, sub-dungeon, or a boss.  No matter what it was Itzal was confident that the two of them could take anything on this floor down.  Except the boss of course.

OOC-- If we find it I have a perfect idea for the boss

Jonathan sheathed his sword after the sentinel exploded, Jonathan sighed. There was  no loot dropped. Jonathan really hoped that there was something good at the end of this cave. No matter what it was Jonathan was sure they could fight it. Hopefully there was a boss. Jonathan needed some kind of experience with bosses. Jonathan sighed. He moved down the corridor. It would be really hard to find a sub dungeon. Unless you had the skill reveal there was practically no way to find it. Hey, This is kind of an adventure... It's fun...

OOC - drat, we can only find sub-dungeons from floor 5 and up...

Itzal threw up his hood and mouthpiece and stalked over to the central tunnel from where the goblin had emerged.  It was fairly dark so he decided a scouting mission would be best.  He signaled for Jonathan to wait and did the same to Velnia, who then glided onto Jonathan's shoulder to keep him company.  Itzal moved silent as the grave, making his way down.  There was no other tunnels coming out from here which made Itzal believe they were nearing the end of the cavern.  As he moved he saw a few dark crystals that would no doubt reflect all light if there was any.  He pulled at a few but none gave way.

When he reached the end he fought to keep a gasp from exiting.  There were three goblin sentinels, most likely the same level as the one they came across.  Itzal saw that they seemed to be guarding something but whatever it was seemed to be hidden from view behind large boulders.  Obviously whatever it was would either be treasure or something far more dangerous.  Itzal made his way back to report his findings to Jonathan.

OOC - do you know if it's possible to get treasure on the forums?

Jonathan listened to Itzal as he explained what was ahead. Jonathan thought for a second. "Fighting all three would be dangerous, but we could have Velnia lead them away, and then we go and see what was in the room. She could lead them far enough to get the lost, and then return to us... I don't want to have come this far, then turn around because they found some large goblins. Jonathan watched as his energy meter rised more. Another minute or so, and it would be restored. Jonathan sighed but it was all he could come up with.

Itzal nodded.  It was a good strategy, but due to there being no other tunnels between the two rooms she'd have to lead them out here.

"Alright.  We'll hide behind those rocks and wait until she leads them away.  After that we'll enter the room.  I have no doubt she can keep them distracted for as long as we need her to.  Right Velnia?"  Velnia grinned and winked, taking flight.  "Alright, let's go!"  Itzal and Jonathan took cover and waited.  Itzal wasn't paying attention to Jonathan, but he knew that he could wait for hours without making a sound or movement of any sort.  He had trained himself in patience.  He closed his eyes and took a single deep breath before going into meditation mode.  What were they guarding?  What could be so important?  It could be a doorway, but those usually led to dungeons and according to rumors, those were only found on floors five and above.  Unless it was a trap he doubted there would be any sort of loot waiting for them.  If this was the case than the only result could be- His thoughts were interrupted when he heard a roar.  Velnia came out first, followed by the three goblins.  Once they had stormed their way over to the other side of the clearing Itzal tapped Jonathan and dashed over.

Itzal was the first to arrive, and stepped into the clearing.  The moment he did he heard rumbling.  The rocks fell away to reveal a Huge goblin.

The goblin was around eight feet tall and wore nothing but cloth pants, a golden amulet with no particular design, and a golden crown with a blue crystal.  He was sitting in what appeared to be a throne and slowly rose to it's feet, grabbing a long gold handled spear that crackled with energy at it's tip.  'An electric spear' Itzal thought.  He looked at the crown and realized that this wasn't a king.  Probably a jarl or a noble in the ranking system of goblins.  No doubt the king would be in a dungeon or one of the floor bosses.  Still, whether this was the king or not, killing it would be hard.

"Be careful!"  Itzal called to Jonathan who just joined his side.  "If he gets a good hit on you you'll be temporarily paralyzed!"

OOC I will control its MD since I created the creature.

Jonathan hid with Itzal as the goblins and Velnia stormed through. Itzal ran first but Jonathan ran right behind him. They stormed through the iron door pushing it open. In side stood an eight foot tall goblin, with a crackling spear at its side. Its stood up, bellowing. It grabbed its spear which cracked in defiance of the players. This would not be an easy fight. Jonathan moved in front of Itzal. Charging his sword Jonathan dashed forward. The goblin struck his spear forward, the spear barely missed, the crackling sound filled his ears. Jonathan stepped in, and struck the goblin. The goblin bellowed and Jonathan slashed the goblin again, sending a surge of energy up its body. Jonathan stepped back careful of its ten foot spear. Jonathan grimaced. "Switch! I have the things attention!" Jonathan stared the king in the eyes.
